Sliceworks really cares about their customers and their product. 5 stars because this is the best take-out/dine in pizza/pasta joint around. It's not gourmet pizza/past, it is good quality food for a reasonable price with great service.
We just had a long day hiking in the mountains and were going to meet up with friends for dinner. We got home at 4p and fell asleep until about 6:30, on the couch and chair in the living room. SO, we were clearly not up for showering and going out, it was now time for yummy food and movie. We searched yelp and decided Sliceworks sounded good and we were up for take out if it meant good food.
We placed our order, the person was friendly and helpful. When we arrived, the place was clean, the kitchen was huge (also clean--we are industry pros so kitchens are important to us), and the staff at the counter was ready for us. They greeted us with a smile and offered us a sample of their pepperoni pizza while we paid and headed home to enjoy the main event. We were so hungry, but that sample was divine! I LOVE pepperoni pizza and this was lovely, sigh.....
On to the show! We ordered the works pizza, linguini with sausage, garlic bread with cheese.
I have to admit, I'm not a fan of pizza with 'the works', I like pepperoni, pineapple & pepperoncini, but my husband loves a pizza with everything, so this was his pick (minus the onions to make me happy). The pizza is thin cut into large slices, proper amount of sauce, cheese & toppings. I just finished it for breakfast, that is how much I liked it, seriously good F***ing pizza. We agreed the meatballs were really well made and the peppers were clearly sauteed before being added. Quality ingredients! I would eat this specialty again. And I will try others.
The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, which is a culinary feat for takeout pasta. Its texture and taste were like I just made it myself at home (from a box of course). The sausage tasted homemade, it sort of crumbled; I wish it was spicier, but it was good and there were two large pieces. The sauce was fresh and delicious, but not enough. I think the pasta could have served four people, but only enough sauce for one--this is my only complaint. This point is not enough after a nights sleep and pizza for breakfast to drop a star.
The garlic bread, very cheesy, but you have to eat it hot. That is the first thing I eat when ordered and it was awesome, complete with fresh parsley sprinkle. My husband always tastes this component last, so he did not enjoy it much until I reheated it in the toaster oven.
I make my decisions about how many stars to give at the end of a meal combined with how I feel the next day, so I feel Sliceworks cares about their food and their guests, the experience deserves five whole stars! read more
