I've been to this location maybe 4 times over 5 years. Don't know the history of this business but I can tell you this: Food:4/5 Service 4.5/5 Ambiance 4.5/5 Seems to be a college/sports bar. Very busy through the weekends but even during the week I see people using the pool tables. I think parking is the only struggle. This is an Italian Bar/Restaurant next to Lik's Ice Cream. I decided to go try their food. The Bar Tender Gal, was lovely, welcoming and helpful. I ordered a slice of Cheese Pizza, which had a very thin crust. Unfortunately, it had no flavor. In addition, I ordered the lasagna, $14, which was wrapped in aluminum foil in a Take Out container, with some small slices of Garlic Bread. The bread had hardly any butter or garlic The Lasagna was very spicy with the sausage and meat and extremely thin and I could hardly eat very much I was really hoping to like this place, but I probably won't be back. Hands down, best Chicago food this side of Chicago. If you're looking for a Chi-town vibe that actually tastes and feels like Chicago, this is your place! The atmosphere is very chill, just like the Windy City. Pictures adorn the wall of Chicago greats such as Dick Butkus and Al Capone. There is also a Malort wall- if you know, you know. Had to try the Chicago-style hot dogs and yes it has the peppers and onions and yes it was delicious! You can get two for $13 or one is $9. Why would you just get one?! Also, one of my favorite things in life is Chicago deep-dish pizza. Wyman's is about as close as you'll get to the real thing here in Colorado, so it's worth ordering it. Pro-tip- if you go in knowing you want deep dish, put the order in right away as it takes 40 minutes to cook. Ordering at the bar is what you need to do. The waitstaff does come around to bring your food to you. We arrived around 5 for Happy Hour (4-6 by the way) and by 5:17, the place had filled up with a wait. Highly recommend Wyman's. Wyman's has become my favorite watering hole! It's a Chicago sports bar with lots of TVs, 2 pool tables & a kitchen that serves up delicious thin crust pizza, deep dish, Chicago dogs & hoagies. It kinda has a dive bar feel too, which is my jam! They have daily food specials Mon-Thurs and they have happy hour twice daily.. and they even serve single slices late night! Chelsea the bartender is my favorite, she's sweet & so fun.. and she goes out of her way to make sure everyone is having a good time (even remembered us after our first time there). Mike & Sam are great too! The place is actually pretty spacious enough to be a bar & restaurant. There's 2 sides of the bar with probably 20ish barstools & like 15 tables. The pizza was on point! $22 for a large thin crust supreme pizza & it hit the spot, I loved the fresh jalapenos. I can't wait to try the other items. Had a pretty poor experience here. Came in and ordered potato skins to start and a large deep dish pizza. We waited and waited but no one came to check in on us at all. In fact, i went to the kitchen and saw our potato skins that had just been sitting there for who knows how long. No one paid any attention to me when i tried to flag someone that our potato skins were there so I ended up just grabbing my food. Same thing with the pizza, no one came to check in on us so i gave it another 20 and checked the kitchen and sure enough, it was sitting there so I grabbed the food myself. The food itself was wrong (they put onions on the whole pizza when we didn't ask for them) and the experience was just so bad I'll never return. read more

Stopped in here tonight for the first time. Had a slice and some cold cold beers. These are the coldest beers in Denver and the pizza is decently priced at four dollars a slice. It's loud and a younger crowd, but the vibe is good and the service is great. We will be back. read more

This review is mainly for the staff, dive bar ambiance, and the people there. I love hanging out at this bar, having a beer, and just shooting some pool. Good people, good, mostly friendly bartenders, and it's my go-to spot to have a drink around my residence. Free pool mondays (I hesitate to write this bc I don't want anyone going there and taking the tables up haha). $2 slices on Tuesdays. Decent food specials most days of the week. I'd say their pizza is about a 7.3 or so for their Chicago bar pie, and their Chicago deep dish is about a 7.7. I'm not a huge deep dish guys, but it's good. All in all, a good spot to grab some drinks, play some pool, maybe watch some games on TV (it's a Chicago, so Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, etc), but they're also popping during Denver games too, and major sporting events, like playoffs and such. read more

I reeeeally wanted to like this place. I've been on a search for Chicago-style deep dish pizza since I moved to Denver. So when an ex-Chicago coworker mentioned this place, I was excited to give it a try. I read where some reviewers compared it to Chicago's Lou Malnati's, and others wrote that Wyman's No 5 is from the same pizza-making school as Lou's. Unfortunately, for me hoping to get a Lou Malnati's type pizza, it turned out the highlight of the meal was the sweet woman bartender who greeted, seated, and served us. Now keep in mind I'm comparing it to Chicago deep dish from Lou Malnati's. You may like the way Wyman's No 5 makes their pizzas because it's a deep dish with lots of tasty ingredients. Its sauce has a little tang to it, the green peppers were crispy like I like them and the cheese was good. So I'll tell you why it's not like Lou's for you ex-Chicagoans and why I didn't care for this particular pizza for everyone else reading it. CRUST The crust on the Wyman's pizza was thin, crunchy (like a biscuit), and burnt. Every bite gave me the flavors from the top, and the burnt crunchy crust flavors from the bottom. I've read reviews about other pizzas from here being burnt so maybe that's the way they make them. One time I was in Kansas City and I went to an Uno's (Another Chicago chain of deep dish pizza that I like.) The pizza crust and toppings were burnt as if they'd left it in the oven 10 minutes more than they should have. When I called it to the attention of the server, he didn't understand the complaint because that's the way they always served it. So maybe burnt crust is just the way Wyman's serves it. It was my first time there so I don't know. But it wasn't enjoyable. The crust on a Lou Malnati's deep dish pizza is a little more bready, a little thicker, buttery, and not burnt. If you have the room in your stomach, it's tempting to also eat the crust on a Lou's pizza because it's good. I wasn't tempted to eat the Wyman's crust. INGREDIENTS The sauce on the Wyman's pizza has a slight tang to it. I was fine with that. There was a lot of sauce, and a good mix of tomato, green peppers, and onions. (I told them to leave off the pepperoni.) There should have been more sausage and cheese if it's going to match Lou's. (I don't think the tomato sauce needs to be sweet like Lou's. Tangy was fine.) Normally when you cut out a piece of Lou's pizza, a small amount of cheese and sauce will ooze into the pan. With the Wyman's pizza, because the crust and cheese weren't thick, the sauce easily oozed like soup into the pan when I removed a piece. This place has so much potential. It's in a nice location, the insides are really welcoming, comfortable, and large. The bartender was wonderful. So I guess the 3 stars versus 4 or 5 is because the pizza was burnt, which overshadowed all the other flavors. By the way, my wife got a Chicago hot dog and said it was very good! read more

I was introduced to Wyman's by a friend who's also a Chicago transplant a few years ago. It's a great neighborhood bar to hang out in person at, and catch a Blackhawks game. Until recently, I didn't realize you could place an order for pickup (directly) or delivery (via Grubhub). Truthfully, it didn't occur to me to check, since it's more of an in-person hang. But with Covid, all bets are off, and I gave Wyman's via delivery a chance as part of an extensive same-day taste-test of Denver Deep Dish pizzas. While the beginning was rocky, the conclusion was tasty. Wyman's was a come-from-behind favorite. ---------------- Logistics Statistics: -Size: Large (Measured about 14")--this was a GENEROUSLY sized pizza -Price w/toppings & tax: $27.92 (Sausage, Mushrooms, Onions & Peppers)--No pre-set topping packages, but everything was reasonably priced. This was the most economical of the true deep dish pizzas. -Delivery: $1.99, plus order-based $2.81 in Grubhub % fees; arrived within 40 minutes of ordering, at a distance of just under a mile. Taste Test Take-Aways: -Pizza arrived a hot mess--literally. It was ordered uncut via Yelp, but was cut anyways, and on delivery, 2-3 pieces engaged in a massive slide that dislodged cheese and sauce in a way that appeared tragic. -Crust was in reality, too thin--a fact made apparent by the photos. That said, it was a nice blend of cornmeal and flour that made it enjoyable to eat, and despite the pizza being uncut, it held up to the leftover test. -Sauce, while a bit heavy, was intensely flavored and a spicy complement to the toppings. -Toppings could've been more generous, and were a bit crisp from what seemed like a quick cook time. That said... -THE CHEESE! The cheese on this pizza was in abundance, had a glorious stretch, and was enough to make you forget about life. Comparison Conundrum: -Wyman's was best compared with Crush Pizza & Tap, both of which are in the Lou Malnati's school of Chicago deep dish. While the crust could've definitely been thicker and the pizza better presented, it had a ton of flavor, and held up over time for leftovers. If you love cheese and spice, eat this pizza. Chicago transplant here and I sure do appreciate a local Chicago bar. Haven't tried the pizza, but pretty happy they have tavern style (ie thin crust cut in squares) as it's a go-to Chicago dish, along with deep dish pizza (a monstrosity that Midwesterners appreciate, but their belt buckles don't). My go-to order has been the Chicago-style hot dogs, which you just can't go wrong with. Sport Peppers, green relish, tomatoes, mustard, celery salt, and you get TWO. So when you scarf down the first one faster than you can taste, you have a back up! Plus, they offer tater tots, which as I will always say, are my favorite thing. Not only the food, but they serve Old Style (go Cubs!) and Malort, which, if you're from Chicago, or ever visited a friend there, is a taste you will never forget, but we are proud of for some reason. Went here for The Super Bowl and it is a super cool place! The food was really good, the waitress working the room was so awesome (the kind eyed brunette) even though it was so busy. She was hustling around and seemed to some kind of sixth sense well honed where if you needed something she sensed it. Case in point; I walked up the bar to order some drinks for the table and she had her back turned serving a customer, but as soon as I looked her direction she turned around and gave a nod saying, "I'll be over after serving these drinks." Super ninja skills. I wanted to get her name to specifically give her a shout out in a review, and also give her a hearty waist deep bow for her service before we left, but I started climbing trees outside after getting pretty lit, then got sidetracked and then before I knew it the Super Bowl had ended and we were all off to Cleopatra's for karaoke. I have no connection to Chicago, but my husband lived there for a time and has fond memories. We've tried a few Chicago-related places in town, and he has declared Wyman's the best. The place has a very "neighborhood hangout" feel. Most patrons seemed to know each other. A server greeted us warmly and welcomed us as first- time guests. He said it was a good place to meet our neighbors (we moved into the area this year and can walk here from home). He asked our names and used them each time he visited our table. We had a bad experience last summer and decided to give them another chance. The bartender could have cared less about serving us and the boys making the pizza were more concerned about vaping and being on they phones.
