Wyman's No 5 - Very disappointed. Wanted deep dish tonight and the cheese isn't even melted! - Sports Bars Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Been coming to this place for years. Back in the day I would have given them 5 stars for excellent deep dish pizza and friendly service. Now this place is total shit. We had a bad experience last summer and decided to give them another chance. The bartender could have cared less about serving us and the boys making the pizza were more concerned about vaping and being on they phones. Pizza rolls were burnt and the deep dish pizza was hardly deep. I will not be coming back to Wyman's again. read more

Wyman's has bought into the beer marketing idiocy of selling beer in 6 oz glasses, but charging patrons for 16 oz. AVOID Wyman's #5 at all costs until their management gets back to reality. For Now - WORST bar in Denver. read more

While reading the reviews, I braced myself for a long wait and for bad service.... But we had great service!!! This little bar is right by my house so that's a plus already! The menu is simple: sandwiches, salads, wraps, fries, but they have deep dish pizza! I got the cheesy tater tots which were meh but the couple said the deep dish pizza was one of the best they had! We were there for about 4 hours and our drinks were NEVER empty. The music is not so loud where you can't hold a conversation! Will I be back? Heck yes! Did I mention they had happy hour until 11?! what place does that on a Saturday night? read more

I love a dive bar with cheap beer, decent food, and a lot of regulars. Wyman's completely fits that bill. This used to be a regular spot for my best friend and I as it was located right between our apartments. The staff knows people and there are always a lot of characters who visit. read more

Good old fashioned neighborhood bar sort of vibe. Lots of wood, tvs, low lighting, etc. Bartenders and wait staff are friendly and approachable. They have a good selection of beers, it's usually not too crowded, and their Chicago deep dish pizza is really tasty. read more

I ordered takeout thin crust tree hugger and fries. Pretty terrible thin crust pizza. It was incredibly soggy and made my stomach hurt afterwards. It also came with red sauce rather than the garlic and oil spread that it described online. The fries were inedible, really. Dry dry dry. I gave this place two stars instead of one because the people were really nice and the vibe seems chill. Maybe dining in is better! read more

Had a hard time deciding on whether to give it three or four stars. I ultimately gave it 4 because of the good happy hour prices for beer. OK, what I like: Bartenders: friendly--although not the strongest drinks WiFi: pretty cool for the laptop drinkers Proximity: 2 blocks form my apt People: reasonably friendly; mostly locals Happy hour: $2 for beers TVs: a pretty large screen TV for watching the games along with several HD ones in the corners. Good but not great: Food: pizza is good but nothing special in my view. Tater tots and cocktail dogs are a fun treat if you have the munchies. The wings are also tasty. Not good: Salad. it may have just been my bad luck but the salad I ordered was mediocre at best. Mostly lettuce with some large (as in huge) chunks of vegetables thrown in. In fairness, tho, I did see someone get a greek salad recently that looked way better than the one I received. Social Scene: it is the neighborhood bar so it tends to get quiet pretty quickly after 10 during the week. Overall, I love coming here to watch games or if I am in the mood for a few beers around happy hour but I am not sure I would make it a regular stop if it weren't close. read more

I met miss Laura L here the other night for a quick bite and came to realize my passion for neighborhood bars. Tucked right next door to Lik's Ice Cream, this cutsey little bar had me feel right at home. Other guests brought their games ( battleship, mancala and more!) Laura and I were busy chatting away when a plate of DELICIOUS tatter tots arrived. Not only Laura's favorite, but my new favorite as well! I ordered the cobb salad with chicken and was amazed to see my plate overloaded with meat (yum!), cheese, eggs, and spinach leaves. All equated to YUM-OO!! Anytime i'm in this neck of the woods, i'm returning for beer and tots... and that's all she wrote. read more

Wyman's is a great neighborhood bar. Lots of options on tap, a full bar for the non-beer drinkers, and they make a pretty good pizza. If you get by there on a hot summer day, you can grab a cone from Lik's Ice Cream right next door, polish it off with a tall cold one, then get back to the day... read more

I have lived nearby for 5+ years and finally gave this a try. I heard I was missing out, but that is not the case. I heard all about their deep dish pizza and was hungry too. It came and looked good, but the crust was overcooked, dry and dense. And for a cheese pizza, there was not enough cheese. It may have been cheap, $15 for a 14" large, it would pay more for better pizza. Maybe I'd return for drinks at the bar. read more

Wyman's No 5 - Large cheese deep dish - Sports Bars Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Looking for good pizza and a laid back spot to have a beer or watch the game? Wyman's 5 is the spot to go. They offer both Chicago and thin crust options. We settled on "The Tree Hugger" and the flavors didn't disappoint ( my meat eating teenage son loved it too). There was a minor issue with our order and It was quickly resolved; Mike did a great job taking care of us! The staff did a great job handling the large crowds for the Nuggets game, service was A+. We will definitely be back soon. Highly recommended! read more

This place looks like a dive bar from the outside, but once you're inside, the ambiance is welcoming and comfortable. Our server's name was a happy guy named Meatloaf and he walked us through his favorite items on the menu, even making up a virgin cocktail for my little sister! We got the artichoke dip and it was more cheese than was expected, but some of the best I've ever had. The 14" deep dish "DA Bomb" is definitely enough to feed 4 people, and came to our table after about 20 minutes. If you're in the mood for Chicago-style deep dish pizza with little to no wait, I definitely recommend this place over Giordano's. The best sauce! (And reasonably priced) read more

Finally the search for true "Chicago style" pizza is over. Wyman's has got it going on. So, after some friends kept recommending this place we had to try it out. We tried the smoked wings, and while my partner adored them, I'm just not a huge wings fan, but I must admit they were pretty good! THEN THE PIZZA. GAH. It was perfect. While the service was lacking and we could hear the employees talking about inappropriate subjects, I'll go back for the pizza. Make sure you have at least 35 minutes for cooking time and aren't expecting 5 star service, and you'll be good to go! read more

Wyman's No 5 - Mushroom & Cheese Deep Dish! - Sports Bars Near Me - Denver, Colorado

I think the thin crust pizza at this location is hands down some of the best I've ever had. Cheesy bread was also really good. While not as good as in some other places around town, the bacon tots were quite good. Small but good selection of beer of draught. Reasonable prices on spirits. Service was pretty good on the two occasions I've gone. Once they forgot to put a deep dish in the oven, not only did they bring out it out quickly after admitting to their mistake but they comp'd it and threw in a free beer. Definitely an underrated bar in Denver in my opinion. Also, if you're a Chicago sports fan you'll love this bar as it's decorated wall to wall in Chicago stuff. Plenty of Chicago fans gathering on game days. read more

Just a quick update since the last review was written four years ago. We still go here for pizza. We haven't really been to many games in the past couple years but we moved relatively close so hope to get here a bit more. It's fun if you are a Chicago fan for any of the teams. I could see why others wouldn't be as fond of it. When it comes to pizza and drinks and the staff it's hard not to like it. read more

Great place for food and drink. Pizza is awesome. Staff is friendly. We go here all the time!

Wondered into this place last night..... specials are awesome! Pizza was sooooo good!!! The bartender was super funny and friendly! His name's Meatloaf!! Def go see him! Oh and on top of it.....as I'm going to the bathroom, there's a dope mural on the wall!!!! read more

This rating is for Wyman's thin crust pizza - carry out. I've enjoyed their pizza in the restaurant; but this carry out pizza was a disappointment - much of it ending up in the trash. The pizza was soggy and stuck to the foil liner at the base of the box. It appeared to steam in contact with the foil somehow, resulting in a gooey, stuck-to-the-foil crust. I could not lift a slice from the box - it all stuck to the foil. Upon peeling off the foil, the crust was wet. Sorry Wyman's; I'm from Chicago and loved your pizza at the bar, but this takeout landed in the trash and we made a different dinner ourselves. Ditch the foil liner and cook the Pizza more - you should be able to remove a slice from the box. By the way, we picked up at the time Wyman's suggested and had it home in 20 minutes. read more

Stopped by tonight and so impressed with the service. The bartender, I think his name is Steve, was cleaning the table and restrooms constantly. He was washing his hands and on top his service at the same time. I am still worried about going out for a beer, but I will come back here because they are serious about compliance to health codes. Thanks! I will be back. read more

Awesome place, fantastic and friendly service. The top of the cherry, the awesome mirror drawing in the hallway.

I have never been to a restaurant where i have to question if my deep dish pizza is a thin. I almost wanna just solely blame the cook for messing up. But after reviewing other reviews i see that this is just how DEEP DISH pizzas are served here now. This place was the go to spot for REAL DEEP DISH 2 years ago. On this specific night I also ordered two orders of wings which used to be delicious, probably best in town. How ever this go around they looked and tasted like some Tyson frozen hot wings. Under cooked and drenched in some nasty buffalo sauce. On the good side our server was great, and the THIN crust pizza wasn't too bad either, but if i want and order a deep dish i expect to get served a true deep dish pizza. With that being said I will not be returning or recommending Wyman's anytime soon. read more

Annnnd it looks like the trivia team is uprooting and heading back to the Snug on Tuesdays. The servers here are always, for lack of a better word...busy...on Monday nights. Which is fine and understandable, trivia spans the length of more than two hours. The house is packed. We get it. Fortunately, we're not a terribly needy group of people. Last night, boyfriend and I got here first to get a table, as we do, and get some food...it is 6:30 which is a reasonable time to eat dinner. With a bit of a struggle, we managed to flag someone down to get our drink orders in before 7. I don't think the girl in question normally works the Monday night trivia circuit as she aked us if we'd been there before and informed us we can order from anyone....which makes sense if someone came by. And no one did but her. So....she wins by default, no? The other half of our team showed up....also hungry. But nobody came to our table...or our corner for that matter. Not even close enough to make eye contact. Eventually, the boyfriend got up to find someone and alert them to our hungry presence in the corner. It was really the only way. We left our airhorns and traffic flares in the car. After a brief exchange which I was not present for (something along the lines of "can we get service in the corner?"...."well what do you want to order? We're kind of busy"), the surly lady who brought our drinks told him that she "didn't need the attitude." Eventually we got the super sweet server, but we were already rather disgruntled. We get the busy part. We get it. We're not idiots. And I'm sure we've all had our own stints in a service industry of some capacity...and it would have been understandable had girl-who-brought-our-drinks not been so downright mean about us wanting a person to come to our table and take a food and drink order. They could really use a distinct sectioning off of sections/duties so neglected corner tables don't get passed off to someone else....and that someone else being unaware of it. Or another server maybe? Or just the common sense to be the least bit apologetic? Sorry Wyman's...the boyfriend might miss your wings, but I have yet to find a menu item that is even slightly redeeming. I don't think I'll miss this place. read more

Yuuuuuuuuuup, that was me... That Chargers fan in the LaDainian Tomlinson Pro Bowl jersey sitting, screaming, standing, yelling, jumping, chanting at the bar playing Uno with the bartender while watching the Wild Card Playoff game that you kept throwing eye daggers at all night long while I enjoyed some good drinks and pizza rolls - damn, were they d-lish! I apologize for not being home in San Diego to watch the Chargers-Colts playoff game, but I thank you for not killing me when I left that evening =) read more

A few things you should know about Wyman's #5: a) The tots are worth the wait. b) Geeks Who Drink is Monday nights. c) Wine and draft specials every day. d) Did you know Wyman's was named after this particular neighborhood/historic district? (It starts in my alley.) e) Big Buck Hunter. f) Wi-fi. g) Gooey deep dish pizza, and thin-crust too. h) That is all for now. read more

You know when you walk into Old Chicago's and you realize they are trying to acheive some level of ambience and fail terribly at it? Well, Wyman's succeeds in a really nice way. It's pub-style, cozy, and relaxed without feeling cheesy or knock-off at all. Oh, and they do pizza really well. I've had the thin crust, white sause pizza and it was very well done. Not to big, not too cheesy (I'm not the biggest cheese person) and not too greasy. I ate all of it and didn't feel like I had over-eaten dramatically. Oh and when the Cubs games are on, you can get cans of Old Style beer for like $1.50... Rad. read more

For everyone out there looking for non-traditional places to do work, Wyman's has free Wi-Fi and a couple of outlets. And they still serve tater tots, delicious pizza and Strongbow Cider. Dear God, have I died and gone to worker bee heaven? read more

What can I say about a Bears bar as a Bears fan?!? Great little spot to eat, drink, and be merry with my fellow Chi town fans. Pizza was good, drinks were better. Street parking, but I found a spot easily. Good service as well. I WILL BE BACK! read more

Because of the poor service reviews, I've only done takeout. So this review is more about the pizza. Born and raised in Chicago, I know and can fully appreciate Chicago-style deep dish. Wyman's misses the mark. Several months ago I tried the deep dish pizza here, and I wasn't impressed. I recently went back for another try, and I was again disappointed. This time we ordered the Big Pizzle. The crust is thick chewy bread, there was very little cheese, and the sauce was overpowering and way too salty. On the plus side, the meatballs on the pizza were tasty... actually, meatballs was the only topping I could taste besides salty tomato sauce and bread. We also ordered a Greek Salad, which was decent. Maybe my expectations are too high. I've heard the altitude in Denver makes it impossible to produce a good deep dish. Or maybe that's just an excuse. Just try deep dish in Chicago and you'll understand my frustration. 2.5 stars with the Chicago sports theme. read more

EXCEPTIONAL Chicago style pizza........in a super lousy bar. In my opinion, it is a shame that Wyman's is less of a restaurant and more of a bar. It is literally the kind of bar where you may see someone standing drunken on a table on a Sunday evening (as we did). We were there for the pizza, most others were there to get hammered. So you've got the picture...good! The pizza is fantastic- reminds me of my girlhood days chowing down at Giordano's back in chi -town. Fabulous crust. Layers of sliced mozzarella, sauce, and tasty ingredients- they nailed it! Definite fork & knife windy city Pizza. Hop on the El and come on down! Oh, and service: severely understaffed. The one server and one bartender were no match for the 10-15 full tables downing shots and/or noshing pizza. I served the pizza to the table myself, plus found to go boxes on my own..... read more

I love these little tucked away neighborhood bars with their own style and attitude. Wyman's is a Chicago bar with great Goose Island beers, Chicago deep-dish and walls festooned with Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks and even a bit of Cubs. And unfortunately for us, Wyman's also has a bit of the old Chicago attitude in its service. Or maybe not Chicago but whatever it is it's not good. Service is always so slow here. You sit and wait for them to recognize you. Then even more time goes by before you can actually order something. Than you see people eating their pizzas even though they came in after you did. Then it's impossible to get the check or order more beers or get anything. And of course it's all done with rolled eyes and a bit of attitude. And while the pizza is good, I've noticed it's gotten a bit more salty lately, just like the service. Oh well..Wyman's is a cool bar and I'll probably be back, but only when I have hours to waste on service as cold as Chicago's winters. read more

Ambiance is 5 stars if you're from Chicago. Half of the bar is dedicated to Chicago sports but the other half shows Denver games. Besides the awesome fact that they show Hawks games, this place is not that great. Service sucks. They only have two bartenders who are also the cocktail waiters/servers. It's painfully slow and it's usually busy during games. I'm not sure how they think that's enough staffing! Forget about splitting bills by couples, they have no system of remembering. Constant miscommunications. Food is not good. We've tried the teriyaki wings and the Caribbean jerk wings. Both have a smoky sauce flavor and it's terrible. The wings themselves are small and soggy. The tator tots were barely cooked and had no crisp, tasted old! How hard use it to stick em in the fryer real quick? Deep dish pizza was a joke. Pepperoni rolls are dry. Nachos are good but it's hard to mess up chips, cheese, and guac. They use Velveeta cheese. Friends said hot dogs are good but I was over it at that point. They do have beer and food specials during games and during happy hour but check your bill because they forget to ring it in as happy hour. read more

Did you really just lure me in by telling me you have great Chicago Pizza and then serve me pizza toppings on Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crust? You are so busted! I don't know, there was just something about the crust on the deep dish and thin pizzas that we ordered that was just not right. It was too much like a dessert pie crust and not at all like a pizza pie crust as I was expecting. It was too flaky and not dense at all. The deep dish pie had plenty of cheese and toppings, but the thin crust was sparse. The pizza was just not what I was hoping for after reading numerous reviews. The other thing that really bothered me was the service. Not to say that our server was necessarily bad, but the overall feel of the joint was one of annoyance with the customers. If looks could kill, we'd have been dead several times over from the icy glares our server gave us. And when we asked if one of the many TVs in the joint could be turned to the Olympics opening ceremonies, we were told that the only TV they could change would be the tiny tv in the corner because some folks were watching the NBA vs Celebrities basketball game on the big screens. Yes, a pro-am NBA game rates high enough that it gets 4 huge TVs, while the Olympics rates 1 small tv. Some good things: The dice are a nice diversion, as are the other board games they keep on hand. It's a Chicagoan bar and they serve Old Style on tap, which I really like. The space is great - I like the mix of booths, tables, and bar space. I could totally see myself here enjoying some Old Style and the Cubs on TV. I won't be ordering pizza, though. read more

Wyman's use to be hit or miss. Now it is just miss. I have been here a few times, had great service and delicious food for not too much money, however, more times than not, it is a long wait and lack luster service. Case and point - I was at Wyman's Thursday evening seated at the bar with a friend. We were having a few drinks and ordered a few appetizers. The service started out fine, but as the night went on the service dwindled (the bar did not get any busier). Perhaps the worst thing about Wyman's is the fact that they are inconsistent. As my friend and I were receiving bad service, the ladies seated next to us were getting the royal treatment. Truly for every 5 times the bartender would talk to them he would talk to us once. If you are going to have bad service, at least give it to everyone. Granted these girls were wasted and doing shots like crazy, but come on, don't let my empty glass sit on the bar for 15 minutes before you ask if I want another. With all the awesome sports bars in this city, Wyman's can be one you skip. read more

The Ladyfriend and I (along with a few others from our Coed Volleyball team) went here after a recent game at the Cheese as prompted by the playcoed.com staff. Wymans #5 is the sponsor bar for our league, apparently, and there were beer specials and some other things happening, so we thought, why not check it out. Free beer! Though we only sipped on Coronas, and didn't get to see how any of the draughts were poured, we did order some pizza which was wonderful. The lady and I ordered the Guido, which is ham salami and pepperoni and onions and fresh basil (cheese and sauce of course) on a "thin crust". I use beloved quotes because when they say thin crust, they don't actually mean thin crust (Thank the pizza gods!) Anyone who follows my reviews knows that I cannot stand thin crust pizza, it's a waste of a pizza. If I wanted pizza toppings on a cracker, I'd put pizza toppings on a cracker. Thin crust pizza is worthless. If you aren't eating deep dish, or even just a pan pizza, you are completely missing the wonders of pizza. I digress. The guido was wonderful, and our teammate M got a deep dish white pizza with approximately 400lbs of mozzarella. That's an accurate number. It was also delicious. That's an accurate adjective. They also had several flat panel HD televisions scattered about the bar, so I feel like it has to be good for a sports bar. **Note** This place is a Cubs bar, so....well make any jokes you like. But it explains the great pizza. Service was friendly (I've never been thanked for coming to a bar 6 times on the way out) and I wish I lived closer so I could go back more often. Seems like a great watering hole with decent prices (HH looked solid) and good food, good crowd, and a good staff. I'll be back at some point, I'm sure. Maybe see you there! read more

Third update: DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT ORDERING THE THIN CRUST - GO GET A DIGIORNO. You will be much more satisfied. Or, just order the deep dish. Seriously! I have to give my second pie update. Everything stands from my first. This time, we got tomato, roasted garlic, spinach and added some fresh basil when we got home. Again, we had to heat up the pizza stone to even be able to hold this with one hand. The tin foil on the bottom of the box just doesn't give the pizza the breathing room it needs. Also, there was less sauce on top this time and it was more like a regular pizza with well made Chicago style crust. I am going to have to order extra cheese and sauce that traditional home replicated need. Again, the staff here is friendly and always smiling. They are slowly going to make me a regular. Let's just get this pie up to par. read more

Truth be told I had been here before landing in 10th place at Geeks Who Drink trivia night, but I really felt as if it was my first time. Had some yummy pizza. Garlic chicken with lots of garlic cloves. MMMmm. It was the perfect vampire deterrent. Also had plenty for lunch the next day. I also enjoyed a spinach side salad. It is unusual to have a spinach salad as an option for a side salad. I was stoked. It had egg quarters and crispy chewy bacon. Good times. Even though the place was jamming the service was awesome and someone was always nearby to fill my drink. I really dug hanging out here and would love to drop in some other time. Although next time I am saving room for Liks next door. read more

Why I gave it only 2 stars: 1. Self seating. We just looked dumb standing by the door. 2. The bf orders one of the specialty pizza w.out mushrooms. Even confirms with the waitress if that's okay. She said "yeah, of course" 3. 45 minutes later the deep dish arrives. Yes, you guessed it: Mushrooms. 4. The dough & crust tasted dry like flavorless flaky croutons. 5. Should be called deep dish pizza..not Chicago deep dish! 6. The white pizza oozed with olive oil Why I gave it two stars 1. Once you sat, the service was fast & courtesy. They checked up on you a lot and we weren't seated at the bar 2. Drunkards singing at the bar 3. Very low key 4. Strange yet interesting decor 5. Recycled napkin dispensers read more

This place used to be pretty good. However, it has gone down hill. The service is horrible. I don't just mean it takes a while(It is deep dish pizza) but that the staff is rude and the three times I have been there in the last 3 months they have screwed up my bill. Instead of just apologizing for the mistake and fixing it, they argue with you for ten minutes then bring over the manager to argue with you some more before finally fixing the problem. Also, I am from the Chicago area. Just because you put up a couple Bears flags and serve Old Style does not make it a Chicago bar. The pizza is okay but it is not up to real Chicago Standards. Give this place a pass! read more

This place is great. My husband and I just moved to Denver from Chicago and were so ecstatic to find a real Chicago bar in our neighborhood.
