I first visited skytown after a recommendation from a friend. I heard great things about the food so I decided to give it a shot. Within a minute of entering the establishment the owner, Eri, greeted us and brought us a bottle of water. I asked him for recommendations on the beer and food menus and he complied with a smile. I was going to order 3 chicken tacos and he said they were on the bigger side and two might be enough. I was so glad because they are definitely filling. They were amazing! They are on the spicy side so ask for no siracha if you're not into that. The seasoning on the chicken and the Pico de Gallo were to die for. My date had a fried chicken sandwich that was mouth watering as well, with crunchy, perfectly salted fries. He also recommended Bells two hearted and sold it so well that my date who doesnt drink beer ordered it and loved it. The service and food were so good that I became a regular at this bar. I come here at least once a week and I have the tacos most of the time but everything else I've tried has been phenomenal as well. (Fried chicken sandwich, burger, bean tacos etc...) Eri always takes care of me with a smile, the service is fantastic. I don't know why there are any reviews with less than 5 stars. You won't be disappointed! read more

Skytown has a great ambiance. The room is dimly lit but has a fun vibe. The bar is the focal point of the room with a small kitchen at the end of the bar. The menu is small which I really like. Means the food is more consistent and with the size of their kitchen I couldn't imagine more than one person working back there. The service is great. I sat down at one of the small tables and was immediately acknowledged by the bartender. A short while later he came and took my drink order. Well cocktails and beers are part of the happy hour menu from 12-7! $4 well cocktails and $5 beers. Great price and great drinks! I got a Moscow mule The food menu is great! Small selection of typical American cuisine. I would call it bar food but fancier. The burger was amazing ! I asked for chipotle mayo instead of the roasted tomato mayo. It was delicious. I would recommend eating and drinking at SkyTown and if you check in using the yelp app you get a $2 well shot ! The service was great. I found this place during a neighborhood stroll on a Friday afternoon and I have been back almost every week since. First experience during the week: Friday: It was quiet as it was only my friend and I and someone else at the bar. We were provided water immediately by the owner who gave great service. I had ordered the hummus platter and two bean tacos. My friend ordered the breakfast omelette which came with roasted potatoes and toast. The decor is great, artsy, chill with very great beats. There are large tables for bigger parties or if you need to do work. And there are bar stools at the window if you want to people watch. Bathrooms are unisex and very clean. There is a fully stocked bar for all your drinking wants. I was surprised at how large the hummus platter was. I ordered too much unknowingly, but it was all delicious. The hummus platter came with two types of olives, sweet peppers, and warmed pita bread. The bean tacos were also very great. It has a small kick of spice after a bite, so keep this in mind if you order the tacos. I'm sure you can order it without the sauce on top. Since, I've tried the egg sandwich, the breakfast omelette, and their hot chocolate which is amazing. I've also been there during the weekend which isn't my favorite time to go. It was livelier, they have a different menu for brunch and they have waitress' to serve, but the music was rough and loud and the waitress' could do with a smile on their faces. I did attempt to go here after a night out in the city and was surprised they were opened till 4a. My friends and I trekked and made it there 10 minutes before 4 to learn that their kitchen closes at 2a. Hugely disappointed but this hadn't detoured me from going the following day. I continue to eat here during the week. You may catch me on Friday mornings just as they open at 11:30a getting a hot chocolate and looking to explore something new on their ever-changing menu. read more

Great low-key neighborhood bar with some really good food, in this burgeoning area straddling the border of Bed-Stuy and Bushwick. The ramshackle, charmingly shabby and mismatched, low lit interior reminds me of the scruffier first generation "hipster" bars I used to frequent in Williamsburg back in the early-aughts, back before the massive redevelopment of the waterfront initiated its transformation into whatever that nightmare neighborhood is now. Food has been uniformly tasty, and this is crucially one of the only options for a decent sit down lunch in the immediate area, where I have found myself quite often for work as of late. Of particular note is the hanger steak sandwich, served on a deliciously fluffy pita that wonderfully sucks up the yummy steak and veggie juices as well as the sauce perfectly. Ditto another pita based chicken sandwich special on offering another time. In short, these guys really know how to put a pita to good use. Prices are across the bar pretty low and there's a generous all day happy hour that makes it extra sweet if your here midday and able to have the ol' midday drink or two. The proprietor is real nice guy and good conversationalist so that always just endears a bar to me that much more. read more

Came here for brunch one Sunday! The atmosphere is chill, the food was alright, and the menu was small. It was $16 which included an entree and one brunch drink (mimosa, Bloody Mary, or beer). I got the omelette which was good, but the home fries were cold, greasy, and soggy. Service, however, was the reason for the low score. It took us over 30 minutes to get the check. There were maybe 4 other tables being occupied, and we legit asked the server for our check FOUR OR FIVE TIMES, which included going to the bar twice just to be told he would "be right over" to bring the check to our table. It took us longer to get the check than it did everything else. Not sure how this place has such stellar reviews, but we probably won't be back. read more

I came to Skytown for Brunch with my Book Club. Fortunately they were able to find a space for all of us to sit comfortably given that it was more than 10 of us. The waitresses were very accomodating especially since everyone in our group didn't arrive all together. I liked the variety and originality of the menu that was offered. I like the fact that you were able to get coffee/tea and unlimited mimosas. Given our group size the food came out promptly and hot. The waitresses were even nice and patient enough to let us all pay for our tabs separately. The decor of the establishment was relaxed and the music was good. It was understandable why a lot of people frequent the place especially for the brunch deals. Overall it was definitely a place I would like to visit again, most likely to see about their after hours scene. read more

Came here a few weeks ago on a Saturday with friends for brunch. I got their black bean tacos, while my friends got other standard menu items off of their menu. All of their offerings are sold as part of a $15 pre-fixe offering, replete with an bloody mary or mimosa or beer, and fries or a salad, which is a pretty decent deal. My tacos were fine, as was my bloody mary. My friends all liked their food as well. Service was a little slow, but since we weren't in a huge rush, it wasn't a big deal for us. We had gone when it had first opened up for the day, so we had the entire place to ourselves for a good hour or so. If you're local to the area, this looks like it'd be a great place to do some work at during the day. read more

After a small gathering in the city and with the spontanaety-inducing buzz of a couple bourbons in our systems, my lady and I decided to hop off the M three (3) stops early after catching some solid Yelp reviews of Skytown last-minute (gotta love an above-ground train--I'm a fiend for that LTE). We walked in and instantly felt the vibe. Dimly lit, with neon signs and a large chalkboard proclaiming the beers on draft and specialty cocktails. A Sav B (sic) for her; an IPA for me. Food-wise, I was dead-set on a burger with bacon. She tried to play coy and mused about a panini, but we knew where her heart was; where it always is. Burger with bacon for her, too. Generous patties--ten ounces, maybe?--loaded with toppings, thick-cut bacon, and nice buns (Brioche? Sure.). Cape Cod chips for me on the side, while she went with a nice salad. And ended up stealing half my chips. Thanks bby. Great watering hole and straightforward, top-notch bar fare. Mentally filing this one away. P.S. My friend and I ordered the paininis and they were AMAZING!!! Also, the nachos are quite huge for the price and may be the best thing on the menu. The clientele is pretty relaxed and most local folks from the Bushwick area. One the bartenders (a female) did not seem very inviting. I ordered the "Cool Hand," a refreshing gin-based drink with mint and cucumber flavors. Upon closing my tab, I complimented the bartender saying, "that was probably one of the best cocktails I've ever had." To my surprise the bartender looked down at me and said, "really? Ole, trusty Skytown. A neighborhood bar that carefully straddles the no-man's land between gentry, hipster and dive. The patrons are the most down to earth of any bar in the area, and I find myself regularly meeting and talking to people here. I should add that this place doubles as my dining area, as I don't have a kitchen at home at the moment. The bartenders, at least the ones that are here right now, are friendly and even more so if you are a regular, so spend a second to chit chat with them and remember their names. You'll see some of the same faces coming to sit at a stool, but there are a lot of people just stopping in. Especially since there is a music venue across the street. There are no parents who bring kids here, no dogs here, and the crowd is VERY mixed in terms of age and culture. Food-wise, the menu is slim but consistent, and changes every few months. Right now I wholeheartedly recommend the steak sandwich, the tacos, and the burger (ask for an egg on it!) There's the usual IPA-centric beer menu on tap, but a few other options too, and a selection of cocktails some of which were invented by the staff. Music-wise, *usually* it's rock / metal / punk, but sometimes (unfortunately) it can take a 70's / discoey vibe, and even more unfortunately, though this is getting more rare, there's a hip hop beat (like every other bar seemingly). It depends on the time of night and which bartender is there at the time. But I'll stick around even if generic hip hop is playing. Yes, I go there that often. read more

Definitely a place for late night food. I had the hanger steak sandwich & my boyfriend had the avocado bacon melt. Both were really good & satisfied our cravings. We came around 11 on a Wednesday & it was packed making it hard to order when we were ready. That was the only downside. Luckily two people were getting up the same time we were looking for seats or else we would've been amongst the people standing around. By the time we finished our food the place cleared out so maybe we came around the peak time. The drink options on the menu board looked good. The staff is so rude and entitled it's laughable. The bartender and barback were drinking booze FROM the fridge while on shift AND had their heads glued to their phones when people were trying to get their attention for refills etc. Where is the manager???? I swear the whole 90 minutes I was there, the female bartender looked up from her phone maybe twice to check on us sitting at the bar. I kept having to call her over and let her know if I needed silverware, a refill, condiments... then once again, I had to get her attention to let her know I needed the check and she throws it in front of me and goes "Here."
