Also they have cold brew which is great if you love coffee but don't drink alcohol like me. Cobra Club hosts one of the best comedy shows in Bushwick hosted by none other than John F. O'Donnell. I would highly recommend going to see the weekly show there and anything else he puts on. The host really makes the show and it makes sense why people come back to Cobra club just for this show and have had it running for so long! The shows here are always funny, witty, progressive, and not just the same white dude making the same jokes over and over. The diversity isn't forced either, it's just natural that funny people have different experiences and lives with different genders and races and yet we can all LAUGH. I've never gone to a show here where someone has to use sexual assault or the r word as a punchline - unlike other 'comedy clubs' seem to do (the one named Bushwick comedy club comes to mind ) Service and atmosphere is busy and loud, but the bartenders professionals who know what they're doing and know how to party. read more

They advertise "free Kareoke from 11-3am" at the door and then we get inside after purchasing drinks to this girl saying over and over on the mic to tip the Kareoke host. We put our song requests and literally just watched her call the same people to sing multiple times we never got picked so we left. It was wack asf. Why advertise something is free if it's not. Not everything deserves a tip specially when we're already purchasing a bunch of drinks and tipping the bartender. Pay your employees correctly so they don't have to beg for tips for pressing the play button on a song. Or just advertise the price on the door that way we would've known to go there or just rent a Kareoke room somewhere. read more

I tried to come here but came too late as the bar was closing. I was sympathetic to that and completely understood I was not going to be able to do karaoke or get a drink and expressed that to the bouncer and all I wanted was some time to figure out my next move. I was not drunk or in any way disrespectful to the door person. Instead of allowing me and my friends to request an Uber inside and wait for them, while it was blizzarding, the bouncer was extremely rude and pushy and would not allow us to wait a measly 10 minutes inside while more than 50 patrons were already there to wait for our ride. I understood that we could not stay there for service and communicated that to him clearly. I just wanted to take shelter from the extreme weather. He was the furthest thing from sympathetic. Me and a group of chill people came into Cobra Club Saturday night, August 30th, and were surprised at how lowkey the karaoke bar was in the back. They took requests, and it was a cool setup. What we didn't expect was for the hosts to be power-tripping on their jobs. Everybody in the room was having an amazing time, and one of our friends asked one of the hosts, the sweet girl Chloe, if they wouldn't mind if we sung happy birthday for our friend. The other host, who was making terrible jokes the entire night and mentioning how people kept leaving (wonder why) was officially bugging out. We did, everybody was happy to celebrate, it took 30 seconds. Then, he came over and started jumping and yelling and clapping at my friend, like a crazy person, and didn't let anyone speak over him. The entire room of people, even strangers, left, all with their own stories of how this guy found a way to be mad about something. Genuinely no bad intentions from my group, a birthday call out is at most slightly disruptive to an already poorly planned, lowkey self-centered hosting. (Chloe was a vibe tho, I'm sorry you work with that Miss. Freak!) The bar itself seemed to be cool tho, just definitely y'all need to fire that weird weird dude. Or get him sober. Thanks! read more

Signed up for karaoke at 12:30 AM and left at 3 AM and they never called my name. They let a ton of the staff perform which was nice but not when i was waiting to go and do my song. I asked the MC when my song would be and they said it was "in three songs" several several times (no I wasn't a dick when I asked) it also smelled like butthole which did not add to the ambiance. I stayed at the place waiting for them to call my name and it never came. There were also some furries in bondage there so if ur into that then I guess check it out but if ur not then maybe avoid. Let me start by saying I have been coming here for almost 10 years. Bartenders are great. But the Friday night karaoke was so incredibly demeaning. I've never been so publicly embarrassed in my life. The host was on a massive power trip and was acting incredibly entitled. Nobody wants to feel like a stupid person whenever they're doing karaoke and already putting themselves out there. He would tell everyone to shut the f up, or make condescending comments. I think another worker even yelled to watch his language. I worked in the restaurant industry for many years. It's harder than it looks, and I almost always take the side of the employee in a server vs. patron debacle. So, I don't bother to address bad service unless it really gets under my skin. Was in here on a Friday around midnight. Pretty empty considering the time. Hipster bartender with two man buns was walking towards my group, who was about 15 minutes in and in need of another round. My friend politely tried to get his attention with a simple smile and "excuse me" and he completely disrespected her: "hang on, I've got some important business over here with this guy. I haven't seen him in a while". He then went over to the guy sitting next to us and just started talking to him. Didn't serve him, cuz the guy already had a full drink. He was just talking. The guy the bartender was talking to clearly realized the service foul, and awkwardly apologized for his bartender friend's rudeness. I get it. You need to keep it friendly with your regulars. But it's bartending 101: if you're not doing anything and someone at you bar asks you to hand them another Miller, you do it. I like the vibe of this place, and the music and other bartenders are fine. But at the end of the day, they're more of a wannabe neighborhood dive than an actual dive. Hipster douchery. The establishment is nice and fairly spacious. The bartenders were pretty friendly as well. The karaoke however was a mess. Very disorganized. The emcee was extremely rude and made fun of us when my friends and I asked when our song would come up, after waiting there for two hours. We didn't need the attitude. Sat at the bar for drinks, Tito's & cranberry for me not bad, good amount of alcohol my friend had a Jameson & ginger ale good as well. We relaxed here for a little bit, dimly lit definitely a dive bar type of place , service at the bar was good & prices are pretty cheap .. decent place to get drinks. I loved this place right off the bat! The atmosphere was welcoming and the tunes were amazing! Nothing quiet beats the heat it the middle of the day like listening to the Clash, drinking a delicious iced coffee and eating a yummy bran muffin with chunks of ginger. I never write reviews but I had to for this place. I went here on Halloween and on my way in I tripped and stumbled because I'm clumsy and the security guard at the door was like "wtf is going on" and giving me the dirtiest look of my life. Even after apologizing for tripping (which isn't something i should have to apologize for or deserved a dirty look in my opinion) so after that interaction I already wasn't feeling the bar. Then my friend got a drink he finished it and asked the lady behind the bar if he should hand the empty glass to her or leave it on the bar (very nicely I might add), she looks at him and says "don't you see me doing something wait till I'm f*cking done" extremely rude, so yeah don't come here the staff is extremely rude and unwelcoming. read more

The ABC's of bars: A Bar, B Side, and Cobra Club. Cobra Club reminds me of some of my favorite spots in SF only without having to jump on a plane for cheap beer and whiskey combos. They used to open early and close late and my (now) wife and I found ourselves here so often we brought our wedding party for drinks before dinner. Never feel out of place whether I'm in shorts or a tuxedo. They even helped me propose. read more

I've been coming to cobra club since before they were open. Until recently the service has been outstanding. Then they let this ditzy princess behind the bar. They call him "the Greek", but he's more like "the Grindr". I was so overwhelmed when I came in because it was so loud. It was incredibly dark, and my friend had to lead me through a dense crowd into a karaoke room. She said it was must-see, so I took a peek. I was immediately disoriented (even further) by the swirling green lights, robbing me of any sense of depth perception. Half afraid of losing my balance, I tuned in to the entertainment. Marvelous! This was fun and sloppy karaoke, but that didn't stop everyone else from dancing. It was surreal. Needing a break from sensory overload, I went out to the patio, which had just enough room to breathe. I was accosted by perhaps the worst hipster I've ever met, eager to boast about his tangential involvement with the local arts scene. I've heard Bushwick is where hipsters came from, and this totally demonstrates why. Nevertheless, I clutched my drink and continued exploring for a bit. Even though I was fighting a crowd to do much of anything on a Saturday night, it was still loads of fun and something I'd recommend for anyone coming through. read more

Correct me if I am wrong. Last time I checked, if I go to a bar and I say that I don't like my drink, I usually get a new one. In this place, apparently, if you don't like your drink, they call the bouncer and kick you out. My friend ordered a margarita. They gave her like lime juice. She asked: "can you add some tequila?", they shot some club soda in it. Ok. Then the bouncer came to kick my friend and her boyfriend out. We all left, of course. Interesting way of conducting business: losing 10 costumers. What can I say...the place is nice. I have a thing for dive bars, but I am having huge reservations coming back. Maybe, I guess, don't order margaritas? I don't know.... VERY DISAPPOINTED! I know this is a very partial and personal review. But I don't know...I might sound "traditionalist", but I feel like, as a business, you should work with your costumers, not against them. You should accommodate them. Not sure what Julia the bartenders problem is. We watched her basically chase out two groups of people for using the bathroom before ordering a drink. She then stomped over to our pool table to demand we buy a drink and check ids. That's totally cool but there's a nice way to say it. Came here with some friends on a Friday night for the free comedy show. The bar is a nice space with a stage for events in the back. The event area is small and pretty intimate, you can recognize all the faces in the space. Drinks were alright both in taste and in price, happy hour ends at 9 pm and we just missed it which was a bummer. I've been told comedy night is either a hit or a miss. They have rotating standups with a moderator. There were two rows of seats in front of the stage but it was weird because no one sat in them. Most of the crowd was standing in the back which I think made it kinda awkward for the comedians because they can't see our faces and reactions. I still gotta give the moderator props, warming up a crowd is always tough. She was interacting with us to get a gauge of the professions and personalities in the room. She also called some people in the crowd out, which may or may not have added to the reason why a lot of people were standing in the back. Standing in the back also gives you easier access to leave the room and grab another drink so who knows We stayed until about 11 pm before we bar hopped and saw maybe 5 or so acts. Each person had their own style so there's a vibe for everyone. Would not recommend if you are "conservative" or "sensitive" about current events or drugs. Also everything gets funnier with another round of drinks. I'm not in a rush to come back but it was definitely entertaining and a solid night out for all of us! read more

Oh hell yeah! This bar rocks! I love the design and the drinks. It's a classic dive bar with all of the right things. The music choice was awesome and the prices were right, too. They had the classic cheap beers and ciders, mostly (if not all) local to New York State. We took the seats looking out the window into the street and did some wonderful people watching while sipping ciders and Genesees. The bathroom decor is some of the best I've seen, with weird stickers everywhere. Am I joking? IDK I was pretty drunk but I felt safe in these sticker and graffiti-covered sinks. One of them has an industrial sink that you would find in a janitor's closet. Idk if that's by accident or on purpose, but I dig it. They just need to keep up with replacing the toilet paper and they're good. Oh and there's a bomb little outdoor area for smoking/fresh air/phone calls. It's right around the corner from House of Yes in case you need a place to go before/after, this is the spot! Great bartenders, too! read more

This is the perfect example of what a neighborhood bar should be -- chill, accessible, entertaining and inexpensive. I stopped in for the first time to get coffee midday, and struck up a conversation with a couple of the locals and the bartender. It was such an easy vibe, I could've sworn I was in Portland or Austin (but way cooler). The next time, I came for a baby music class, which was held in the large room in back. I was rushed, otherwise I would've stuck around for a pint and a game of Buck Hunter with the kid. Since then, I've been back at night with friends and out-of-town guests. The beer was cold, the music at perfect volume, full but not too crowded on a Saturday, and there was even a live band. I couldn't ask for more (except maybe that it was closer to our home). I first heard about this bar because of the yoga classes. I've yet to go, but I'm almost sure that when I do, I'll want to come back here and give The Cobra Club a sixth star. Punch air! read more

The last bastion of cool in this area of Bushwick. Pop into Cobra Club on the weekend and you can enjoy a free show of tourists traipsing about the now patently un-cool area from the safety of the dimly lit dive. Trendy bars with outdoor seating nestled amongst the gentrification graffiti are now the norm in that area, as East Williamsburg bleeds further into Bushwick. But Cobra, dear Cobra, is holding out. There's no big sign on the outside, no street-facing patio seating for the vintage Adidas-wearing, irrationally beautiful trendsetters to put themselves on full display. It's dark and divey on the inside and outside, with mirror-less bathrooms covered in stickers, an outdoor area that's small and unassuming, and a back room perfect for hosting shows. Cobra is the kind of bar that puts on metal yoga on Sundays, self defense classes during the week, and karaoke late at night on Fridays. There's been a children's party or two in there during a Saturday or Sunday, and I can only imagine how cool those parents are. I've met some of my best friends in Cobra, it feels more like a community than any place I've ever been in the area. It's the kind of place where, when a non-regular was aggressively hitting on me on a Friday night, two girls confronted him and threw a drink on him when he got nasty--and HE was kicked out. No Nazis, no misogynists, no homophobes, no racists, no assholes. Cobra is a little slice of heaven in a neighborhood growing increasingly more insufferable. My review is strictly for the karaoke. I didn't eat or drink there or deal with the staff so I can't speak about them. However, when I return in the future maybe I'll get to do that via my friends' interactions. So it's located right near the L train in the midst of a warehouse district that's not quite hipster-ed up yet. You can literally walk out of the Jefferson Street stop & will be there after walking less than a block. They have karaoke every Friday night in their back room. The back room is the most interesting spot I've ever been for karaoke. It's literally a huge room with a stage that seems more suited to live music. Seating is at a premium here since they have benches on either side of the wall & that's it. However, the people who do karaoke here have a HUGE & comprehensive book of songs. They also take requests so if you can't find it in their book, ask them if they have it. They're very friendly and will either be able to get it for you or may already have it. If you want to sing in front of lots of people, you probably want to sing at about 12:30/1 a.m. since that's when we saw the most people in there. I'm not sure if maybe my singing drew a few people in but you are going to be in Hipster Heaven here & if you aren't one or semi-young, it will show. Think of this as a good audition space for karaoke songs. I saw people do various selections & the fear of public humiliation is less if you sing before 12 a.m. (they start at 11 p.m.). I mean, it's fine. It's a bar, it's a little divey. Drinks are cheap and bartenders are surprisingly quick to serve. They have white wine on draft, which I can get hella down with. There's a pool table, which is amazing because the space is not huge. They have a back room where they do events like comedy shows and karaoke. Pee before you get there, the bathrooms are kinda gross. And also, no mirror, so you'll just have to feel around to make sure your hair is in place and nothing is stuck in your teeth. read more

This looks more like a bar than a coffee shop. I only came in to pick up a doughnut for my kid. This place came up on Yelp when I searched "doughnuts." Their doughnuts come from Dough in Bed-Stuy. Very good doughnuts! I got 2 of them; hibiscus and coconut. I also asked for a short espresso coffee while I was there. I don't know if the bartender didn't hear me or doesn't know what a "short" ("ristretto" in Italian) espresso is but he filled up my cup and the coffee wasn't so good. Oh well.
