This was the first time I'd ever hired movers and though they did an incredible job. I was a little dismayed at first because the truck arrived about an hour late from the time we had agreed to. Created a bit of an issue due to the timing of when I'd reserved the freight elevators for at my previous and new apartment. When I called Ali about this issue, he was able to get in touch with the drivers and call me back to let me know what was going. Once they arrived though, the two movers who were sent for my moving job were great. They were overly kind, very helpful, and moved very quickly. Reasonable rates, do a great job, and were very friendly the entire time they were there. Would love to hire again for future move. read more

***** UPDATE***** After 4 months of unresponsiveness from Skyride Movers, I finally had my personal property returned with the help of the Fairfax County Court and Fairfax County Consumer Affairs. Skyride offered a refund of our insurance deposit (~$190 USD) in exchange of us removing our consumer reviews and legal claims. Until this day, if I could give them a zero rating, I certainly would. I stand by my principles, and my facts and reviews of this company is stated as true. FYI, Skyride recently had their business accreditation revoked by the Better Business Bureau due to its failure to adhere and meet standards. (https://www.bbb.org/us/va/alexandria/profile/moving-and-storage-companies/movers-0241-236016998/details). Please save yourself the trouble, nightmare, and your hard earned money. Alternatively, I'd highly recommend the Two Marines Moving Co. I've had a great experience with them previously and wish we had gone with them this time; lessons learned. read more

If I could give them a zero star I would. First they were over 30 minutes late. Then they broke one of my dresser drawers while moving my dresser on September 29th, 2018. I paid $190 for complete coverage insurance. They did not offer to replace the dresser. Instead, they only offered to repair the drawer. They took the drawer on September 30th, 2018. It is now over three weeks later and they have not returned my drawer. They refuse to answer my calls and texts. They did not return the drawer at the time we arranged for. Do not use this company!! They will break your furniture or belongings and then not return your property after promising to repair it. read more

****UPDATE**** After posting my review I was almost immediately contacted by the business owner and told that the person that was supposed to be handling my damage claim was no longer with the company and it basically fell through the cracks. I was offered $120 in cash, which is not the equivalent to the cost of replacing the bookcases but was told moving companies only pay you for damages based on weight. The owner hand delivered the cash to me the next day. read more

Lost my stuff when they delivered from their storage and refused to compensate me for the loss. Never heard from them again.

I do NOT recommend this company. I used them for my move. I has two stops: one to drop off a piano, one to move into. When the day came for my move out, I asked a worker if they had the information necessary to drop off the piano at the first location and they informed me they had it. I was on my way to leave when a worker informed me there was an issue with getting a driver and that maybe hopefully he'd be able to drive. I figured everything would be fine and they would find a driver so I left to go to my new home. An hour after I've left on the road I receive a call from their receptionist telling me the driver is not available. I'm immediately confused. Leyla, the secretary, asked if it'd be okay to deliver the next day. I said no, I'm expecting same day delivery as every other company commits. She tells me she will call me back. She doesn't, instead she texts me saying that she will offer $100 for a hotel. That does not cover a night at a hotel unless this moving company wants me to stay at a Motel 8. After all the moving expenses, I now have to pay out of pocket for a night with my boyfriend in a hotel. Additionally, my boyfriend took off work in order to help during the move. Because the move was pushed back to the next day, he was unable to help and drove six hours on the road for no reason. I also had to cancel meeting with my landlord, as I was not able to move in on the 19th. He couldn't welcome me on the 20th either since he lives an hour away and has work, leaving me to get acclimated by myself. Leyla then texts me blaming me for not asking how long the move would take. Apparently I should've asked "hey, will I get my stuff the same day as scheduled?" Why would I assume it wouldn't be there the same day. She then comes up with various excuses as to why the truck couldn't come the same day ie "oh they have to take the truck route". What does that have to do with anything? Get on the road. The manager then calls me saying a driver will arrive promptly at 10am at my first destination the next day. They did not come until 12:15pm. And it wasn't everyone, it was only the driver. I've now been informed by the driver that the movers went to the wrong destination and had to Uber a 55 minute commute to the correct destination. They didn't get to move my piano until 1:30pm. Finally, we get to my final destination, my new home. With scuff marks on the walls because of their movers, I at least have my belongings. read more

One of the best paid moving experiences we've had. For a two person they were extremely hard working, efficient, very good communication, and got the job find in 3 hours with my wife and I working the whole time too. Even though the two Moving dudes didn't have hardly any Moving equipment/large open Transport boxes to put smaller items in and we had to use the buildings moving cart too, we all the job done. Thank you fabulous Skyride team! Highly recommend for most affordable quote and rate around the DMV area! read more

I had contacted them through Thumbtack - a website to assist in hiring various "professionals". They gave me an estimate and then later tried to charge me 3 times that. Only "opinion" i could add is i was moving faster than the movers and I had a fever at the time. Here's how it started: - nearly everything was packed into boxes and labeled by weight or if they were Fragile. - sent detailed images and measurements of all boxes to the moving company - list of all other items not able to fit into boxes, bed, tvs, tables, chairs etc. Here's the experience you will get with "Skyride" "Movers": - broken items, doesnt matter if they are fragile or not. they will break it, guaranteed. - heavy boxes placed on top of boxes marked Fragile on every single side. - marble table being rolled down a concrete street. - TVs missing their power plugs, basically yanked from the socket. - estimate is 4-6 hours? 12 hour guarantee! Even if you're helping them, which we did. - their "billing department" a girl named Leyla calling you to demand you pay. - their "movers" will wait at your doorstep until they "settle up". - the movers will have the audacity to ask for a tip after the entire move took 12 hours. Previously we had moved the apartment, nearly identical amount of stuff, in 8 hours, 2 people total. They took this long with 3. Aftermath: I called them to discuss it and my phone number was blocked, apparently this legitimate business operates on all cell phones? I escalated to my bank to handle the fraudulent unwarranted charges. Hopefully this review reaches out to enough people before they decide to hire this business for their move. @skyridemovers im feeling much better now, and I guess you didnt notice, Im from Brooklyn. If you want to come "settle up" feel free to stop on by now. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Based on reviews, I contacted Skyride for my long distance move and I cannot be more pleased...EXCELLENT service all around. Ali and Fred responded promptly to my request, dropped in next day to provide an estimate and a final fee was provided that day! (Very reasonable.) No hidden fees or changes later!! Three gentlemen packed up my two bedroom apartment The very next day and drove to Florida THAT DAY (No truck sharing!) and my things arrived 16 hours later. Totally took the stress out of my move. Seriously, how does it get better than this?! read more

Fred and his team were such a blessing! As soon as I contacted them they called me and drove 1.5 hours to give me a quote. I couldn't believe how fast and reasonably priced they were compared to other companies. The day of the move they worked very hard to pack all our belongings on time. They were diligent, careful and professional. I had several items that were delicate and everything came in one piece. We were very glad that we picked Skyride! read more

We hired the skyride movers recently and we were happy with their service. They were very careful loading and unloading our furniture. We moved into a fully renovated home and we had no dents on any of the walls or doors when were done. The movers were doing their job very carefully especially moving big pieces through narrow doors. It took a little more time than we expected but we didn't mind. All the guys were very professional and respectful. I would use their service again. read more

Fred and his team were great. They were very responsive and easy to communicate with before and during the move. They were also very efficient and careful with our larger items. I would highly recommend them and will use them again in the future. read more

Okay. There was a miscommunication and on the morning of the move the movers were supposed to show up at 7 AM. They did not show up until 9 o'clock. Which is frustrating. Kept trying to call the owner he was not answering. But then once the movers showed up they explained they had been told a different time to come. Then the owner finally connected back with us and now just mentioned that he was out of state which we did not know prior. He did apologize for the miscommunication and it was very sincere. And instead of sending for men to help with the move six men showed up. So I think he made up for his faults. read more

This place is an absolute scam. Either the movers are told to take their sweet sweet time moving furniture in order to bump up the price, or they hire the most incompetent staff on the face of the planet. I booked SkyRide based on all of the wonderful reviews, however, I cannot say that I received the wonderful experience that so many people have received. I was given the standard quote (3 hours, two men, one truck, any additional time would be charged by the hour). From my experience, previously moving without the help of professionals, I thought this process would take a total of 4-4.5 hours. In total my move took 7.5 hours, 6 of those hours were spent moving a few pieces of furniture and some boxes out of one apartment. The first part of my frustration came when the movers came without an adequate number of blankets and no tools. They struggled to bring down the couches, which I understand due to the small hallways in my NYC apartment. However, when I moved myself in, I did not struggle as much bringing this couch up the stairs, in comparison to these "professional movers". Due to the sluggish pace of the movers I decided to bring down pieces of furniture that I could physically carry myself (chairs, bar cart, etc). I was able to move all of these pieces in the same amount of time it took them to move one couch. Within the first two hours, they managed to move two couches and two boxes. I called SkyRide offices after the first two hours to let them know I was not happy with the pace the movers were taking. The move continued and the movers carried one item at a time, taking longer and longer every time they had to go up and down the stairs. I get it, four flights of stairs isn't easy, but I have little patience when I'm paying by the hour and I myself (not a professional mover) can lap the professionals. The next set of issues came when the movers were moving furniture that was NOT mine into the truck. Before I booked the move i sent an itinerary of what was to be moved to Skyride, when the movers got to the apartment I pointed to exactly what I needed moved, I then reiterated this several times. Well, apparently they weren't listening because my neighbors furniture was loaded into the truck and furniture I asked to be left behind was packed into the truck. Next set of issues included the movers being unable to take apart of my IKEA bed. Again, no tools, can't get it done. Rather than continue to move furniture there was a lot of standing around. One of the movers tried to take apart the bed while the other continued to ask what to move, which I provided instruction, which was not taken or acted upon. Once the furniture was finally loaded onto the truck, after six hours, it took the movers 45 minutes to get to the new apartment (less than 2 miles away). I understand that trucks must take alternate routes, however, it was not a far drive and this only added to my frustration. Skyride sent over the owner with the two movers to help speed up the process. Which I appreciate. However, he did not acknowledge my frustration, did not apologize, and was just ultimately rude. In the end I was given a "discount". They stopped the clock at 6PM (clock started at 10:30AM - and they were still moving things into the new place after 6), they didn't charge me for the third mover (oh joy - shouldn't have taken three people), and I think I was given a $50 discount? Honestly not too sure about the third one, my listening skills kind of shut off after I found out they were still charging me the 8 hours (for a whopping $835, my original quoted price was $525). Overall, don't use these guys. I am not sure if I was just given the new guys who had no idea on the face of the planet what they were doing or what, but at the end of the day I got screwed moving wise and financially. I would definitely be wary with booking with these people, maybe try and inquire as to who they are sending your way. But seriously.... it's not worth the frustration. ALSO - FYI they do have stair fees - first two flights are free, anything after that is extra $$$ (something they do not advertise upfront) read more

After calling and emailing companies online that couldn't schedule a move within a week at the time we needed or had ridiculous estimates, we found this company on thumbtack, and they have us a reasonable estimate and could fit us on the exact time we needed. The move itself took slightly longer than expected, but they worked super hard, were polite, and didn't slack. They also had no problems stopping at a storage unit we had to pick up a few more things. They give you an hourly quote that is prorated and an initial truck fee and that's it, pretty straight forward. Would definitely use again for my next move! read more

The best movers I've used in 35 years. These guys are first rate. Our original movers canceled on the morning of our move -- we needed to move a large 4 story house. Skyride rescued us. They were professional, a pleasure to work with, and the dispatcher called us several times before during and after the move to make sure everything was going okay. Given how big our move was, the crew was working all through the night until 6AM. They were cheerful the entire time -- not a single complaint for working all through the night -- and when we were done, they turned to leave without even a hint of the expectation of tip. When we needed Skyride again for a small move of additional furniture and items, we received the same excellent service. We highly recommend Skyride. read more

Great professional moving team! They were very careful with moving everything and very professional. At one point we thought we couldn't get the couch through the front door of my new house, but where there is a will there is a way, and they got it in easily and with no damage. Great price for a great moving service. Made my move a breeze! read more

We hired Skyride to help us move grandma to an independent living apartment. I found them on HomeAdvisor and he had excellent reviews. After my search, he called within the hour, provided a flat fee quote to pack and move her belongings out of state. There was an urgent need to get her things there and he and his team actually came 6am the next morning. The most impressive thing is while taking down her bed they found a large sum of money stashed and immediately reported it. They had her entire home packed, moved and then set up in another state 5 hrs away by the next morning! Rarely do you find service like this. I was so impressed with Fred and his team! They had a large new truck, and he did not charge 1 dime more than quoted and his price was more reasonable than any other company I researched. If you are looking for an honest, reasonable mover, I highly recommend this company. read more

I booked a move on short notice to move from DC to Philly in mid august. Everything on set up was very smooth. The movers were very quick and thorough during the loading phase. Once we got to the apartment in Philly it was another story. They had damaged a 65" TV to the point it no longer worked. They also rushed out leaving a lot of the wrappings still on the objects moved. I was instructed to send pictures which I did the same day. I was told I would receive a phone call the next day with how they were going to reconcile the situation. That phone call never came and it wasn't until a week later and multiple phone calls to them that they finally stated they would give financial compensation. I was given an confirmation E-mail stating they would send a check for the amount agreed upon to the address I was now at. Weeks went by and no check was received, so I E-mailed them asking about it. They stated they haven't actually gotten around to sending the check and were having "issues with payments". I have since emailed multiple times with yet to receive a response. Being back in graduate school I don't have the time to call them every day until I get an answer. All in all I feel very underwhelmed by their service and will look elsewhere when I move back after I am done with school. read more
