I ordered three kid meal, one steak bites (so tuft she could not even chew, one got mac and cheese (not sure how you can mess that up, the other child got grilled cheese (burnt). Myself I got a simple cheese burger and baked potato (bake potato was the only good thing, cheese burger (I asked for medium with a little red, no red in the burger). I spent $61 for the four of us to eat and we are leaving here hungry. Our waitress should have gotten the manager. If I had been the manager things like this would not take place. We've been going to Sizzlers for many years now, some are very good, while others are just meh. Back in the day, before the introduction of the salad bar, Sizzler's had some of the best inexpensive food found outside of a Luby's Cafeteria. I mean that as a complement. But over the years, several corporate owners, a dozen or so menu changes, bankruptcy, not to mention the addition of the every increasing salad bar. At one point, I thought the salad bar might engulf the restaurant. I feel Sizzlers has lost it's way and tries to be all thing to all diners. On our last visit, the dinner tab for four came in at over to $50.00. Ouch. Too, bad -- because Sizzler's was a nice concept with some good food. Aye. Sizzler is never on my radar when it comes to good food. However, I was at the mercy of my sister and her wallet. She invited me and I didn't want to be rude and not accept. I only had the salad bar which is my last choice because I don't do buffets anywhere and it actually was very good at the Sizzler west side location. Been a long time since I've been to a Sizzler. Kinda pricey now. Same as other steak houses (like Outback or Black Angus), but a more limited menu. I ordered the basic steak with rice pilaf. One big "plus" was they know how to cook a steak. They have a chart showing the different levels of cooking, and when you say "medium" or "medium well" that's exactly what you get! It's really annoying at some places when you say "medium" and it's deep red when you get it (rare), and then they argue with you about it not being rare!! Did NOT have that problem here. I ordered "medium well", and when it came out it had just a hint of pink...just like their chart. So "kudos" to them on that. The flavor of the steak was fine. Nothing special, but fine. The rice was nice. Good flavor there too. I thought the portions were small, and when they say "one side" they aren't kidding. Outback or Black Angus will usually give you two sides so you can get some carby (like rice or fries) and a vegetable. For about the same price as here! So I gotta rate this a minus. Service was adequate. Not great, but adequate. My wife liked their salad bar. She ordered the salad bar add-on to her meal, and then just ate the salad bar. She took her entire main meal home. So if you can do that then that is a good value option. I tasted the soups she got. The chicken noodle was nice. Very thick noodles, good flavor. The tomato basil soup was OK. I've had better, but it was pretty good. Overall, not a bad place to come. Quality of food was comparable to Outback, but I think Outback gives you more (unless you do the salad bar). Came a second time and my food was served with a soggy receipt underneath, the serving staff didn't serve us until 20min after we sat down (we had to flag them down) and a medium well steak was served medium rare, a medium steak served medium well. I agree with the majority of reviews. We visited this place on 16 AUG around early afternoon. There was not a lot of people at that time. Food was not great. Food was not "sizzling". I ordered the ribs and it was just warm- not even hot. It was also very salty The staff were great, though. You pay before being seated. Surprisingly solid food. Our server was solid. *Surreally BAD management!!!* Ok. Not my first choice but my 9 year old is obsessed w buffets ) for which Sizzler's salad/app/desert bar makes a fine facsimile. To my surprise, the food was generally solid. Steaks were tasty and cooked competently and the salad bar was high quality... tho for the price, Texas Roadhouse is vastly superior. Service is a partial service model. You pay upfront and sit down and give ur receipt to the server in your section... that is if you can get a server to stop by. We waited about 9 minutes before we went to ask the manager for some help. Once we got the server engaged, he was solid. The part that blew my mind was the behavior of the manager to whom we talked (a bigger, dark haired woman who seemed t be supervising at the register). When told of our lack of funding a server, she was curt and almost dismissive in tone and then walked into the back to let the server know. She then comes by the table and says, "he's coming... we had this tour bus group come in so he was busy...". Wow. So, that's the solution. Put more work on the guy already too busy to handle the tables and give the customer an excuse. Awesome. Amazingly, that wasn't the worse part. So our already too busy server now has to take care of us too... and as I walk over for a salad, I see that same manager has convened 3 servers, 2 cashiers, and herself gabbing in a circle. We were there at an awkward time. We thought we'd beat the rush and get there early. A bus load of very well behaved fifth graders had just gotten back from a trip to a museum and stopped there for dinner. So they had both cashiers going...and it was still slow going because of the volume of people....the staff were polite and calm to everyone. The drink choices are limited and no alcohol is served here. If we'd known that we would have gone elsewhere since after a long day of driving we were looking forward to a beer. Everyone says service is good. That's true but I go out to eat. I got the salad bar buffet. It was $18 including the soda. Sizzler buffet is one quarter the size of Golden Corral. Golden Corral is still cheaper and better tasting. I felt I was being price gouged. The pineapple, olives were spoiled. The pudding was so thick you could cut it in squares. Against my better judgement we went here last week (Aug 25, 2016) with another couple after helping our kids move in to their dorms at NAU. My buddy is a great guy, but one of those types who only wants to go to a place he knows. He was dreaming about going to sizzler for days after he found out that there's one in Flagstaff. I was very skeptical about what we'd find, but decided to take the high ground and submit. I was hot and tired and wanted a cold beer and a nicely cooked, fresh burger. But they don't sell any alcohol there, and I nearly walked out. I composed myself and took one for the team, hoping the food would win me over. Unfortunately, it was even worse than I feared. I ordered a burger but when it arrived it was obviously cooked long ago and appeared to have filler. The lettuce was wilted and the tomato slice was dry and tasteless. One of my kids ordered a burger, too, and it had to be sent back because it looked like someone had already taken a bite out of it. My other kid ordered chicken tenders, but they, too, were dry and tasteless, except for the flour taste of the coating. Yuck. Our server was unshaven, and his unappetizing appearance failed to improve our dining experience. He was very nice, and was an attentive server, but despite his efforts the overall experience was dreadful. The one bright spot in the experience was my wife's salad. It was pretty fresh and cold and tasty, and if all you want is a soda and a salad, I'd still recommend going elsewhere. There are so many wonderful restaurants in Flagstaff I strongly encourage you to check out other options. Please do not get me wrong, the staff at this place in Flagstaff, AZ was fine. The problem is that the Corp Sizzler Management is content with prepackaged, pre cooked food for the salad bar: The spaghetti was precooked and sort of OK. The sauce was lifeless and drained all over the plate.The meatballs were pre made and were terrible. The salads were swimming in dressing. The lava cake must have been from yesterday. I did like the bread pudding. We paid $40.00 for two (2) entrees and the salad bar. The Monte Crisco was a breaded chicken patty that had been left on the flat top for, who knows how long, before a sucker like me ordered it. I am convinced that this patty was the same patty that McDonalds uses for their $1.00 Chicken Sandwich. My wife ordered the breaded shrimp and these must be the same product that get sold elsewhere for $.25 each elsewhere. They were Overcooked and Tasteless. I complained to the waitress who seemed sympathetic and she sent another manager over to see us. We refused any replacement of the food because you just knew it was going to be the same "stuff". The second manager sent another manager over. All three of these people were nice and seemed sincere. The problems is, of course, any replacement food will come out of a "fresh bag" and be sub standard. By pass the Sizzler and go any other quick service restaurant. $40 will get you much more at any of those places. The Sizzler is a "has been" restaurant chain and now I know why I keep seeing them 'boarded up'. I hope they will do some soul searching before it is to late for them. This was my first time to a Sizzler, so I can't compare it to any others. The menu is on the wall, and you place your order first, then sit. We were the only ones ordering, and once we sat, there were three other tables with people on our side of the restaurant. The server was nice, and all started well. She got our drinks to us quickly. The place started to get busy while we were waiting for our meals, and we were glad we got there before the rush. It took quite some time for the food to arrive, 4 of 6 got our food. Maybe 10 minutes later the other two dinners arrived, including my steak and lobster. The baked potato was perfect, but both my steak and lobster were cold. Cold! $30 for this to be cold. I let our server know. She was very polite, apologized, and said she would have another prepared. About 15 minutes later I did get my food again, and this time it was warm. The steak was cooked well instead of medium, though, but I was not going to say anything anymore. My hubs ordered the steak and unlimited shrimp, and his shrimp was no longer hot, but edible. Getting drinks refilled took quite a while. From what I could tell our server was waiting on many tables, and bussing tables, and maybe doing too much for just one person. Long story short, we will not be returning to Sizzler. I am still giving 2 stars instead of 1 simply because the food did have good flavor and because the server had a sweet disposition. The toughest meat i have ever attempted to eat. Sirloin (tri tip) was not rare, and could not chew enough to swallow. I brought up this problem to a very young man and was just so unhappy that it was obvious this meat was substanderd. Horrible experience. My children even complained.
