I was in Flagstaff and saw that they have a Someburros here. I was on my way out of town and decided to grab some breakfast before leaving. I am a regular at Someburros but have never tried their breakfast. I love my Someburros. If you are a native of the Valley like me, then you grew up eating at Poncho's Mexican Food. I remember fighting with my siblings over that basket of sopapillas. The Vasquez family (longtime owners of Poncho's) opened the first Someburros in 1986. We now have several of these family-owned, fast-casual restaurants all over the Valley. They specifically cater to young families on a budget. I am a big fan of their hot sauce and at times will get a pint of it to go. Someburros' menu consists of traditional Mexican food made from family recipes from Sonora, Mexico. Their signature Pollo Fundido is my personal favorite. Another favorite of mine is their Albondigas Soup that they serve in the Fall. In addition to food, they have horchata, alcohol and churros! They keep a calendar on the wall that highlights food specials and local events. If you are hosting a big party, Someburros caters large platters of party-sized portions of their popular items. If you want good Mexican food made quick, Someburros is always an easy choice. Someburros has drive-thru service if you are in a hurry. You can also order ahead. First time at this location and it is a nice clean restaurant. They offer a faster Mexican food option which might surprise most, but it is good. The tostada nachos are better than a regular bean tostada in my opinion, and they are quite affordable. My friend had the albondigas (meatball) soup and liked it. Another friend had 2 beef crispy tacos and enjoyed it. Another had the borracho burrito and liked it. The cheese enchiladas were yummy also. We were staying in the night in Flagstaff on our Route 66 trip. I bookmarked Someburros because it was literally the only place I could find in the state that sold vegetarian chimichangas. We were hoping to get on the road on the early side to get to our next destination at a reasonable hour but, unfortunately, this location is one of the only ones that doesn't open until 10:30. Yes, I absolutely would stuff my face with a fucking fried burrito at 9am. Priorities are priorities, after all, so we waited until opening time to snag one before heading on our way. There was only one other patron in there but it does give me a little bit of validation that we weren't the only people eating Mexican food at that hour. We ordered a bean chimi to share. We also requested 2 waters and were given cups to use the machine. GF accidentally pressed the wrong button and filled up one of the cups with lemonade. It was a total accident and I'm not even joking. We felt terrible. We're going to hell. I am fully expecting the FBI to knock down our door at any moment. Sincere apologies, Someburros. The chimi came out pretty quickly. The accompanying chips were fantastic. Thin, warm, perfectly salted. Dangerous and requires some willpower to not fill up before the actual food comes. The chimi was orgasmic. Because I had already eaten way too much of fried ice cream I had from the night before, I told GF that she could have most of this but we all know how that turned out. I ate the fuck out of it. It was filthy with sauce and beans and fried dough and filthy in the best way possible. I could roll around in it. I could put my face in it. I could eat this as my last meal if I ever found myself on death row. Need I say more? Was looking for something other than burgers or chicken so stopped by here for dinner while traveling through, I got an enchilada and ground beef/potato taco with added sour cream and my husband got a burrito and a side of chips and salsa. The food did come out quickly which was nice. I liked the beans and rice it came with but the enchilada was so salty I couldn't eat it. The salsa was just alright, I paid for sour cream but didn't get it. Husband enjoyed the burrito. He ended up eating the enchilada the next day and said that the only reason he can eat it is because he loves salt but he can see a lot of people not being able to because of how salty it is. Overall the food was good- not the best, but we were happy to have tried it (when we travel our goal is always to try things that aren't local where we live). We ordered the beef tacos (some of the meat was pretty charred), a chicken burrito, the mini chimi plate, a carne asada quesadilla, a Mexican pizza and chips/guacamole. Overall it lacked flavor, and definitely needed the salsa/hot sauce. Everything was prepared well and the portions were good size. The carne asada burrito was a boatload of the refried beans a smatter of sour cream and a few pieces of flavorless meat. No guac, cheese, vegetables, salsa, rice... Nothing. There were pockets if empty space where I got huge bites of just tortilla... Not ideal. The beans weren't bad but I mean I don't need to eat half a can of refried beans in a tortilla. Service was nice, you don't order from your seat, or have a server to get your order, you go up to the counter, order/pay, get your chips/salsa and your drink cups as they have refillable fountain drinks. They bring your order when ready. So far not your typical Mexican restaurant but going with it. I think this is the fanciest Someburros I've been in! It's quite spacious with high ceilings, warm sunny decor, and a nice patio in the front. Ordering was fast and simple and my order was ready in a few minutes. The el diablo scramble burro was like others I've had at their sister locations. It had a hearty amount of chorizo, with egg, onion, sour cream, and jalapeno. I liked the spicy kick to it but it did need the hot sauce that came with it to give it more flavor. Really surprised at the 3 star average... My wife and I have been here a handful of times... Maybe close to 10 times. Every time we've been, the food and service has been really good. Someburros is really the only decently priced good Mexican food restaurant in Flagstaff that we've found. I like their nachos (which are not really a traditional plate of nachos, rather 5-6 small tostada shells for chips). The tacos are fried, and very tasty as well. It honestly felt like I was getting a lot of attitude from him from that moment on. Twenty minutes later I had our food, asked for an extra dressing and was told it would be extra (no thanks you should have thrown it in for the wait) , left and took everything home and realized that they forgot the chips and the tacos were cold! My wife decided to have three fish tacos with a sauce on the side. Her food didn't came up with a sauce so we ask for it and after making us look like idiots (like why are we asking for a sauce) they give us sauce in a squeeze bottle which is hot red sauce and they give it out with every order. I ordered the carne asada burrito ( I have tried a lot of carne asada) and this one was unfortunately at the bottom of the list. I was completely flavorless and was nothing near what I was expecting. It also seemed and bit pricey. I am usually happy to pay up if I think I am getting a good meal but this meal left me unsatisfied and my pockets empty.
