Even if the food itself had been hittin, $3.99 for a relatively small-portioned street taco is not a deal. Maybe my fault for ordering tacos instead of a burrito or torta. Barbacoa and deshebrada, both forms of braised beef, were just ok in my view. They had a nice flavor, but the texture was kinda mushy, rather than the slow-cooked richness I'd've expected. I'm a visitor to Flagstaff. For lack of restaurants near the theaters we came to the mall. I love Mexican food!! This place did not disappoint. I ordered the steak, mushroom, and cactus quesadilla. This is a very different quesadilla than I'm used to. Homemade corn tortilla is very flavorful. It was a thicker than what I'm used to, but it was delicious! Plenty of filling that was very tasty. I ordered it with a side of sour cream. Only down side, I should've had then cut it in half and grabbed extra napkins! This place will let me taste before I ordered which was great because my original item was a little too spicy for me. Delicious, but I want in the mid for spice today. This was my first time eating at La Placita Express . I was greeted by a smile and " Hi, how are you doing?" By the manager Maria. I ordered the taco asada dinner and was going to take it home. This place is a "hidden" gem in flagstaff. I say hidden because it's inside the mall but they hands down have the best tacos in the city. Honestly, best tacos I've ever had and i've lived a lot of different places and had a lot of tacos. Salsas are so yummy as are the chips and guac. The owner is so friendly and the service is fast. Wow!! I was in the mall today and didn't really want to leave to find something to eat. I saw La Placita Express and thought I would give it a try after watching seeing some seriously fresh looking tortillas warming up in the grill. I was not disappointed. The move here is to order the quesadilla. Most places, a quesadilla gets served on a bland, mass market flour tortilla. Here the quesadilla shell is made in house from corn, adding a delicious flavor and texture. And of course, the fillings are superb. My favorites are the Placita Queen and the Deshebrada. read more

This place is wildly delicious. Each dish is distinctly seasoned and tasty. Handmade corn tortillas are chewy and full of flavor. If not for yelp, we'd never have stumbled across it as its inside a shopping mall food court and we were just passing through. As a Mexican from California who is no stranger to authentic food from Mexico itself i had a hard time finding great street tacos in Flagstaff but this place did not let me down! I Ordered the 3 taco plate, which came with rice and beans. The tortillas were perfect size (yes its 2 tortillas per taco), the carne asada was delicious and topped off with cilantro and onion. OH and they have green and red salsa. The green one is good for those who want flavor and not to much spicyness. But for my fellow PICANTE lovers try the red, has a nice kick! The girl on the register that helped us was really sweet. The Horchata is good but might be to sweet for some, i have had better. Will be returning to this nice spot.
