While driving through Flagstaff, I stopped and had the combo taco plate with different meats. All were really good. As was the Jamaica drink. Then, a week later, also driving through Flagstaff, I stopped there again because I was so impressed by their food. Ordered the chicken fajitas because the picture showed large, non-shredded pieces of chicken. When the dish arrived, the chicken was shredded, most likely the same chicken they use for tacos. Normally that would be fine, but it was very dry and unseasoned . I really need to stop coming here. Pretty misleading. read more

The food was just ok this time. Very salty. What the hell is up with no chips? Why are some Mexican restaurants doing this? My meal cost $24 and then they wanted another three bucks for chips pretty stupid. At least give you a little handful on your plate for the $24 you just spent. read more

Worst place ever. When I got home and opened my meal there was a bite taken out of one of the tacos. It wasn't until after I had a few fork fulls of rice and beans that I saw this. What is going on in that kitchen. I almost threw up. Since this happened I've been told disgusting things about this place. I wish I'd known. I hope this spares someone else. NEVER AGAIN read more

Just passing through town. It was the closest and best rated location for tacos. I had a shredded beef taco a la carte and three rolled tacos. Everything was good. The taco had a fresh fried shell which I love. The guacamole on the rolled tacos was minuscule and the quantity of beef in the rolled tacos was less than I hoped for. This meal cost $15. I'm glad i ordered an extra taco because three rolled tacos and beans and rice wasn't enough food. The portions seem small. I think this place is fine but if I were in town I'd try somewhere else. Nothing bad about my experience or the quality of the food. Would prefer more food for $15. read more

We absolutely love the food at this restaurant and the service is very good. Only drawback is that they ask you if you want to leave a tip in the drive thru if you're paying by card and it's very uncomfortable. Especially since there is no reason to tip in a drive thru. I wish they would stop doing that. read more

TERRIBLE, as others say, "the worst place ever"...for real. Carnitas plate for $15 = dried out pork and beans with nothing on top - no lettuce, no tomatoes, no onion or cheese - CHEAP! But the owner drives brand new souped up trucks and Jeeps. And the DRIVE THRU always asks, "would you like to leave a tip". Jacked up. Never again, I work too hard for my money to support this guy. Always good food but the worst guacamole ever! Don't waste your money on the guacamole. It's a runny paste. I Just can't believe how good the food is and how bad the guacamole is. Did I mention not to waste your money on the guacamole? Tacos las altos, Seriously get better guacamole to match your delicious food!!! I still gave them 5 stars because the food deserves it but that guacamole is crap. I am just so mad at myself because I've known this for years, yet I still wasted my money on it the other day. This used to be my favorite Mexican food place. But they have gotten so skimpy on the cheese. Today I got a bean and cheese burrito and I have gotten more cheese on a Del Taco Value Taco. I've complained so many times that I'm tired of being disappointed. I also hate that you go through the drive-thru and they ask if you would like to leave a tip. For what? You took my money and handed me my food. You didn't wait on me at a table and take my order, didn't bring me a drink and give me refills, didn't bring me chips or salsa and check how I was doing. This is THE spot for breakfast burritos. We are here once or twice a month and they never disappoint. Huge burritos packed with quality ingredients. A bit pricey of a breakfast for our family of six, but they are definitely worth it. Drive thru is a bit tight, and fresh food takes a little time, but they are amazing so we happily squeeze through and wait. Highly recommend checking them out! read more

Established in 2004.

Tacos Los Altos was established in 2005, owned by Lilliana and Javier. Later sold and improved by the Rodriguez family. They have added more homemade flavoring. Since then TLA has been Flagstaff's best. We are considered a fast food restaurant, but come try for yourself; you'll taste the difference. Unfortunately, Shift became one I'll never forget for the wrong reasons. Our day couldn't have been further from what the staff assumed. We spent the morning hiking, went back to rest, explored a local bookstore, grabbed ice cream, and walked to our dinner reservation. Not one alcoholic drink had been consumed by anyone in our group the entire day. Not one. We also had a child with us. The only conversation we had with the host before being seated was asking whether it was okay that we had arrived about twenty minutes early for our reservation. We were polite, excited, and looking forward to dinner. Then my husband ordered a beer. The waitress immediately refused because she claimed the hostess believed my husbands speech and mannerisms meant he was intoxicated. Read that again. A guest who had consumed zero alcohol all day was judged to be intoxicated. I understand the responsibility restaurants have. If someone is genuinely impaired, absolutely don't serve them. Every responsible restaurant should protect its guests and its liquor license. But there is an equally important responsibility that seems to have been forgotten: making sure your judgment is actually right before labeling someone. There was no bar crawl. No cocktails beforehand. No wine tasting. No brewery stop. No hidden drinks. There wasn't even one drink. We left feeling embarrassed, confused, and honestly caught off guard. Not because a beer was refused, but because a person was reduced to an assumption based solely on how they naturally presented themselves. Here's what makes the experience even harder to understand. After leaving Shift, we walked to Atria, where we remained for approximately two hours. We talked, enjoyed ourselves, and spent the evening there without issue. If someone in our party had truly been intoxicated wouldn't that have been obvious there as well? It wasn't. Food can be good. Cocktails can be creative. Service can be polished. None of that matters if hospitality disappears the moment someone doesn't fit your expectation of what a guest "should" look or sound like. Maybe perhaps because we weren't locals we seemed off ? To anyone considering Shift, especially if you're traveling with someone whose speech, mannerisms, or disability could be misunderstood, know that this was our experience. I hope the restaurant reflects on what happened and asks itself a difficult question: How many guests have we mistaken for being intoxicated when, in reality, they simply communicated differently? Because that's not just a missed beer. That's a missed opportunity to treat someone with dignity. I came to Flagstaff excited to discover one of its most " creative" restaurants. Instead, I left wondering how quickly a restaurant built on hospitality could make a guest feel so unwelcome. Simply , because my husband is a restaurant manager in Las Vegas, who has managed restaurants like Yellowtail, Herbs&Rye, Gjelina, and Edo we left out of respect for the industry. However, we should have got our deposit automatically refunded. Next time, take the time. Take the time to care. If a staff member is under this assumption, management intervene not to just follow said assumption and repeat what she said, but to hold an actual conversation with your guest, to evaluate , to observe, to understand. I promise you, that would change so many things for you.

I absolutely LOVE the food here. However, I went yesterday and I probably won't be back. I experienced the WORST customer service ever in my entire life. I ordered in the drive through and when I went to pay, the employees were just making salsa cups and making eye contact with me through the window but not opening it to talk to me. Completely ignoring me. It took them 5 whole minutes to finally ask for my credit card, and when I went to sign it took them another 10 to open the door back up again, the entire time they were making salsa cups. If they would have said "sorry your food will be out shortly" I would not have an issue. But absolutely NOTHING was said about the wait. You don't ignore customers like that. read more

Tacos Los Altos was my favorite Mexican place in flag. Emphasize was. I used to go there on a regular basis and have been spacing my visits more so in the recent past. The last three visits involved extra long wait times as well as absolute incorrect orders. There were multiple special request made due to dietary requirements, and none of those were met in any of those three visits. Our favorite taco shop in town! We love the street tacos and the chimichanga. My kids always have to get a large strawberry agua fresca. The salsa bar is always loaded with many selections from hot to mild. The ambiance isn't the best, but the food makes it worth it. Prices are not bad at all for the amount of food you get. read more
