Rarely 5 stars..always room for improvement. That said...once you find this place it's a gem it's hidden in a marketplace with crappy signage and directions from Siri sucked. But, when we found it...parking is ample and the entry is loud and proud. Bright interior colors and lots of Mexican pastries and other items before the order desk. The menu is ample and service is friendly...they acknowledged the poor directions ‍ I had the rolled taco special which came with rice beans and a drink (the horchata is AMAZING!). My friend had a huge breakfast burrito. In small places like this a salsa bar usually is a huge indicator of good food for me. The salsa bar was beyond impressive. All made in house...and do NOT bypass the pickled carrots and jalapeños. OH MY The interior is huge and it is definite a local take out place. I will be back to try more! read more

Wanted some mexican food and saw this as recommended by many people online. We ordered a varienty of tacos and a burrito. The tacos were good, but I would not say anything exceptional. The burritos were massive and full of meat. No rice or beans, like chipotle. I'm not an expert with burritos, but I was not expecting that. It was really good though and very filling. Certainly a good value. I like the salsa and cold items bar. We tried a varienty of salsas as well as pickled vegetables and roasted jalapenos. Those were a nice touch. read more

Staying in flagstaff for a couple of weeks and felt like tacos and burritos on the first day and decided to try the nearest and decently rated one about 5 mins from our place. Tried the carna asada burrito : beef , pico de gallo, sour cream, no beans and rice. So it's very meaty. Cashier recommended the hard shell beef tacos and these were amazing. Another great place to eat in town. Luckily this is nearby, and while it's been a little while since I've eaten here last, the rest of my family goes here all the time. The plates are HUGE in my opinion, so you get an ample amount of food for an amazing price. The salsas are literally the best I've ever had at a sit down place like this. Whenever we have gone in as a family, we felt comfortable and as if we were valued customers. I liked this place! We came in shortly before closing and the employees were very friendly and patient with us. We ordered for take-out, but the space looked like it had a lot of seating. There's a lot on the menu, but I went with three regular-sized tacos, which were much larger than I expected. I ordered the chorizo, asada, and carnitas tacos with green and hot salsas. All tacos come with onions and cilantro, but you can ask for them to exclude them. The tacos were flavorful and jam-packed. The salsas tasted fresh and even the green salsa had a slight kick to it. On Sunday December 21st I stopped by to buy a dozen tamales for Christmas....they were $35 for a dozen....ran my credit card for $40.09.....two days later the charge went through as $50.11. Not only that but the very next day 12/22 a fraudulent charge was tried on my credit card for a place called VIEFE...which luckily was denied. We had the best tacos here. They have a great variety of options, including mini tacos that were the perfect size for our 9 year old. She got the chicken tacos, which was fantastic because they weren't overloaded with spices, which she wouldn't have liked. The gentleman working the counter recommended adobada, which I've never tried before - amazing. It reminded me of al pastor, without the pineapple. The tables and chairs are all painted and fun, but my favorite was a portrait of a donkey. The food is great, the service is fantastic - and after getting price gauged in Sedona, this was a very reasonably priced spot. Highly recommend! read more

I used to regularly eat at Tacos Los Altos back when I lived in Flagstaff. So when passing through today, I figured it would be good to stop in for lunch. Wish I hadn't. The staff were friendly but the fish tacos were really disappointing. The fish was so overcooked it was chewy. And it was mostly coating. I can't speak for anything else on the menu, but I would not order fish tacos here again. read more

I had 4 mini-tacos, as follows: Adobada: 5 stars. Meat is cooked perfectly and the red chile flavor is super savory. Cabeza and carnitas: 4 stars. These had a really nice texture overall, but there were also some straight-up chunks of fat. Not sure if that's good or bad. Lengua: 2.5 stars, ok flavor but really not the right texture. Cool spot, nice people and love the art on all the furniture. We ordered a few tacos with rice and beans. We also ordered the sopas de pollo. Meat was good but the tortillas had the store bought favor and texture. The rice was nice but the beans lacked a little more salt or some type of seasoning. The sopas were really good I wish I would have ordered it instead. I will give them another shot but I'll keep it sopas or menudo next time. This place used to have the best carnitas burrito in town and the best Chicken Tortilla soup. What I got today was the worst. The chicken tortilla soup was basically chicken broth with some chicken and veggies thrown in. Very bland. You know, like what you have before a colonoscopy. No flavor, no color, no tortilla. I don't understand the 1 star mean reviews. We like this place. The servers were friendly. We ordered carne asada combo and chicken quesadilla combo. Quesadilla tasted good, beans were good. I loved the rice and beans. The beef was flavorful but a bit on the tough side. But we thought the food was good flavor overall. Chips and salsa came with 4 types of salsa, including avocado salsa, which was new to us. We like the varieties and they are tasty. Some of the chips were soggy, and we sent it back. The new batch was warm and crispy just like they should be. We got a freshly made horchata, it was delicious. The rice taste in the horchata is very flavorful. I've never had horchata that tastes so good! The restaurant is clean, very popular with the locals, and the dining room had authentic paintings on the walls, tables, and windows. It was a bit hard to find. It's in a pretty modern shopping area up the hill. Must try. read more

Got an order to go here. Unlike their other location this one does not have a drive thru. I had the chile relleno burrito. It was so good! It's probably the best relleno burrito I can remember having. The combination of perfectly battered and fried chile stuffed with cheese along with the other filling ingredients was marvelous. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. For starters, the horchata was very heavy on the rice and it was starchy. The tacos we got, as pictured below had LITTLE to no meat in it. I had more onion chunks than anything. I will say the ladies that took our order were nice and they changed out our horchatas for a soda from the soda machine. Wish Yelp allowed negative stars because that's truly what this place deserves tonight. Worst restaurant experience ever. The service was bad. The food was less than mediocre. I'll start with service because it was so horrible. You order and pay first then they give you a number for your order which you take to your table. When we arrived, there was a seated table of 4 waiting for their food, they just finished taking a phone order, and there was us (a group of 7). We all ordered very simple. A few bean and cheese burritos, 3 carne asada taco plates, and a chicken quesadilla. Plus chips and salsa and 6 soft drinks. Total was $102 plus the tip we gave in advance. (Big mistake) Another family came in behind us, about 9 in their party. After 20-25 minutes, no chips yet. We asked if they could bring the chips which they promptly brought to the other table. No big deal. Until we continued waiting another 5 or so minutes where they brought a second order of chips to the other table. I caught the lady's attention a few minutes later and she got our chips. About 35+ minutes from ordering, they brought two of our burritos. 10 minutes later, still no other food. The second family started getting a couple meals which were similar to ours. The guy bringing the orders had no idea what went where despite tables having order numbers on them. He started just asking the whole room who ordered what. A couple more of our orders came out and one had to be sent back for being wrong. Over the next 20 minutes meals were sporadically brought out and taken to wrong tables. 5 of 7 got meals at our table. Two orders were forgotten. At about 55 minutes from the initial order, the chicken quesadilla arrived. An hour and 10 minutes in, I got tired of waiting for the last two carne asada tacos. And asked for a refund. They rushed to pack them to go as we had to leave for work. Now for the quality of food, bad bad bad. Beans are completely flavorless. Rice was soft and wet tasting with little flavor. Most of our meals weren't fully eaten because no flavor and was just unappetizing. I felt bad for the girl at the counter. She was really doing her best and it was obvious she really cared about her job. The place is completely mismanaged and disorganized from what I saw. I have no idea how they got overall 3.9 star rating in Yelp. The manager was suppose to call me. Of course, they never did. I ask for pico de gallo in my breakfast steak burrito and the cook acts like I killed his cat or something. It's the strangest reaction to that I have seen. It's a small town, so maybe I pissed him off someplace else, but I'm not stepping foot into this place ever again. They have cameras up, it was 4-1-23 around 4 pm or so. This isn't the first time this has happened. Very weird. I was wearing a white tshirt and black shorts. Something else I always thought. I had an incident with the breakfast place in that strip, and maybe he was a cook over at that place before. The incident was, I walked in to that place in the afternoon and the place was empty except the owners and the cooks. I ordered a coffee, eggs and hash browns and bacon. Well done on the bacon and hash browns with onions fried into the hash browns. The coffee was first. It was burnt like it was left on the burner from last week. The food came out and the bacon was limp, the hash browns were mushy with sautéed onions on top. I threw 7 bucks down, didn't consume anything, and told the owner I would not be back. I haven't been back. When I am done with a place, I am done. So maybe that pico de gallo cook is a part of that trash breakfast place, I wasn't pissed at the cooks. I was pissed at the owner. Either way, I'm done with taverna too. The Japanese place isn't that good either. As far as the Indian place, bleh. read more

We ordered one bacon burrito and a steak ((order taker said it was carne asada but it was flavorless) burrito. Size was decent and loved the tortillas but the main filling was potato. Steak, bacon, and egg were scarce. They have a salsa bar and the extra hot green chili is very good. They had chicken and pork pozole available at $9.50 a bowl and the bowls were sizable. Staff was nice. I might come in to try the pozole or an entree item which are only a dollar or two more than the burrito. While a $6.99 breakfast burrito might seem reasonably priced to you it's not common in the area I live or those I frequent (Havasu and California) read more
