Loved this cozy little vegan cafe. On a road trip with my family of 5 this place checked everyone's boxes and made for a very satisfying stop. Healthy and balanced, kid friendly options, vegan desserts, and options that everyone in the family could get excited about. For the kids I especially appreciated the extensive mix and match ala carte options. It is absolutely one of those nostalgic vegan cafes like I frequented in college I won't say how many years ago - whole foods from scratch cooking, a little under salted (they have salt on the table if you prefer restaurant level salting), great use of spices for flavor, nothing trendy just wholesome reliably good food. We had the tamales (both lunch and breakfast plates), classic French toast, fruit cup, sausages, steamed greens, cheesecake, peanut butter chip cookie, and brownie. Loved it all, the scrambled tofu was a surprise hit with the whole crew, pinto beans are cooked from dried with a great creamy consistency, the warm spice in the French toast made it appealing to the grown ups without being "too spicy" for the kids. Home fries were another surprise hit with crispy exterior and fluffy interior on each piece. Desserts were very good - the blueberry cheesecake and peanut butter chocolate chip cookies were the favorites. The tamales were very good but on the smaller side, if you're here for the tamales definitely opt into the small upcharge for a second tamale. What a gem I found in flagstaff! My doctor said to try and eat more plant based food and lower sodium items. So we wanted to switch it up and look for a vegan place here in town. I found morning glory cafe had really good reviews, so I took a chance. My partner had the breakfast burrito and I had the vegan hemp burger. We also got the corn chowder and the pistachio latte. Everything was a 10/10 perfection. The lady who took our order was so knowledgeable and the owner of the shop were so friendly, they explained how everything was made. Apparently the previous owner died in 2009 and the new owner who was her best friend took over. This business has been here for 40 years and I hope it will be here for 40 more. Apparently every ingredient is locally sourced from their very own farm, and everything is made from scratch. They even lab tested their food to be heart healthy and low sodium. So this was perfect! I went into this with the mindset not to expect really super flavorful food like how you would if it wasn't low sodium, but they did a great job of bringing it the natural flavors of each ingredient in perfect harmony. I really enjoyed the blue corn tamal and the jackfruit tamal. Both came with red chilli sauce, topped with veggies. Nice presentation even for the side tamales. The tamales were much smaller than other tamales I have had. I was also pretty underwhelmed by the beans, just whole beans, not much flavor in them and very expensive. I found the prices to be very high for the serving sizes in general. The counter service was good. Simple in terms of atmosphere and I don't think they had AC. It was a nice day so we sat outside at one of the two tables they have upfront. They had some political items and stickers on the counter. Regardless of whether I have a similar opinions, different opinions or just see the complexity of various issues, I don't like when restaurants and other businesses have political items displayed. For me, that deducts from a relaxing restaurant atmosphere. I did really enjoy the flavor of the tamales and their presentation and I like that this restaurant serves a full menu of vegan food. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. My husband and I have been going to Morning Glory Cafe since 2011. This was the first restaurant we ever ate at in Arizona after landing at the Flagstaff airport all those years ago. What a welcoming place to introduce us to the friendly hospitality of Flagstaff. Besides a comfortable and cozy atmosphere, the staff gave us all kinds of tips on local hiking and outdoor adventures. The most important ingredient in the food is love and the quality of the food makes this one of our favorite plant based restaurants. We returned every year at least once or twice on our annual hiatus up until we decided to move to the copper state. While it took us awhile to find our way back to Morning Glory Cafe being that we settled in Prescott two hours away, it was wonderful to find Morning Glory Cafe is as delicious and healthful as ever. We were fortunate to finally meet the owner, Jules. She lives up to her namesake for sure. Like her staff, she is absolutely delightful, generous and kind. We have enjoyed every meal we have ever eaten at Morning Glory Cafe and this recent visit was no exception. My husband had a berry lemonade with a bean and rice burrito with the cheese on the side and a veggie bowl with chips and yummy spicy salsa fresca, a single tamale (to live for) and I enjoyed the classic hemp burger with avocado and breakfast potatoes. We shared a large green salad with the best locally grown greens ever and a dressing that keeps us coming back. We topped it off with a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. We will definitely be returning before another year passes as this is a must stop coming or going to the Grand Canyon which is now on our radar as a regular get-a-way being that we live only a few hours from the rim. While we have our favorite dishes, we have ordered most items on the menu over the years and Morning Glory Cafe never disappoints. By all means GO! read more

If the biscuits and gravy are on the specials board when you visit, TRY IT. Omg. I ordered the $15 gluten free and vegan biscuits and gravy with potatoes and was SHOCKED that this gravy tasted like the regular pork and gluten-filled gravy. I was born in Texas. I know what this dish tastes like as I've had it a zillion times before my Celiac diagnosis. This version was better than the regular versions and the potatoes were great (and cooked separately not to be cross contaminated with gluten.) You might think it sounds suspicious and that they're using the real pork or wheat flour to make such a good gravy. No - again, I have Celiac disease and if this gravy or the biscuits had gluten, I'd be doubled over sick, not writing Yelp reviews in bed. I also had a $7 Golden milk latte with certified gluten free oat milk. I forgot to specify unsweetened and was so relieved that it came unsweetened. It makes me think they're making it from scratch unlike every other place that uses powders. My husband got a $4 cup of coffee but he should have ordered breakfast. They have some outdoor seating as well as a few booths, but don't come expecting to bring a group, it's tiny! If you're in Flagstaff and need some gluten free options, come here! Still my Favorite restaurant in ALL of Flagstaff for over 5 years! The quality and flavor of the food is outstanding! You can tell that love and care goes into making it. Today is my boyfriend's birthday, and we had just arrived in town. It was my first time here, and we were simply looking for a quick bite. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. The reviews were completely misleading. The restaurant was noticeably unclean, and the staff appeared more focused on eating their own food than assisting customers. The entire visit felt like a waste of money. I should have trusted my instincts and gone to the restaurant next door. Not only was the food overpriced, but the portions were surprisingly small--more suitable for a child than an adult. The potato fries were excessively spicy, which makes no sense if they are meant to be kid-friendly. The shake was runny, served in a very small cup, and no one bothered to mention that beforehand. Overall, this was a total disappointment. It felt as though the restaurant was trying to get as much money as possible out of a single meal, likely because repeat customers seem unlikely or any other customer for that matter. We had to leave and go elsewhere just to get a proper, quality meal. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

A sexy flour tortilla with tofu scramble nicely spiced, home fried potatoes, veggie sausage and red pepper cashew cheese which was da bomb.com, served with a mild salsa. They do have a small selection of hot sauces for your smothering pleasure. The second brekkie was a sweetie, Berries and crème with house taters and a side of smoked tempeh. This is such a lovely gem of a place. We had breakfast there on a quiet Sunday morning, and the staff were just so friendly and laid back. We felt truly welcome. And the food was worth it! I had the blue corn pancakes, and they were everything I dreamed of and more. I even brought home some pancake mix to try to recreate the magic. I washed it down with a lavender lemonade, which is the perfect flavors normally and was totally magical this time. My husband created his own breakfast from sides, and even though that is probably not most cost effective, he got a huge plate of delicious food that was so fresh and healthy. Stumbled upon this organic vegan eatery on a recent trip. Need to grab a lunch while pasting through Flagstaff and ended up pulling in around lunch time. When entered I was greeted by the whole staff and was offered up great food support. I ended up grabbing the Tempeh Avocado Sandwich and the Tamale with Beans. Both food options are a solid choice. This was a super refreshing lunch, as all the vegetables were garden-fresh and blended well with the proteins. Highly recommend for a nice light lunch. My tamale combo was decent -- very soupy, with beans, tofu scramble, watery guacamole and the tamale underneath, sprinkled with cherry tomatoes and a bit of purple cabbage. I found this awesomely cool little place in old historic downtown Flagstaff, AZ while wondering the streets searching for nearby Vegan restaurants. It's difficult to describe this tiny little old school hippy, ultra casual, very friendly, full of love atmosphere. Crazy busy, only six tables inside (Three on each side with walkway down the middle), and a couple of small tables on the sidewalk out front - but it was raining, so I elected the only available table. Serve yourself water jug with mason jars for glasses, and cups with utensils and napkins. It's way too busy to expect them to be fast, and they were not - but took in all the atmosphere and eclectic people watching to fill the wait time. It was well worth it. The food was delicious and I loved every bite. Highly recommend this place when you find yourself in downtown Flagstaff. Try the Breakfast Sandwich. (This is what my tastebuds, heart, and soul screamed out while eating) The moment we walked in, we were welcomed SO warmly that it felt like we were entering a friend's home for lunch.
