We've enjoyed Pizzicletta dozens of times inside Dark Sky Brewing, but this was the first time we had the pleasure of dining at the actual Pizzicletta restaurant. We lucked out with some gorgeous weather a few weeks back, so dining on the patio was very enjoyable, particularly with the cozy string lights on overhead. It was super packed, but some of the couples ahead of us rejected the tiny bar counter and stools at the end of the smaller patio; since those seats didn't bother us we were seated immediately! I don't remember the name of our waitress, but she was very friendly. She immediately brought us a water carafe and two glasses. She was back in under 5 minutes to take our order and our food came out super fast. We began with the Mixed Greens Salad with Chevre & Pine Nuts. The portion was generous and the salad was absolutely delicious. They let the flavor of the chevre & pine nuts really shine through by adding a very light olive oil based dressing. We then shared our favorite pizza, the Diavola, which was delicious as always. Their pizza crust is some of the best in the western U.S. I love the convenience of enjoying Pizzicletta at Dark Sky, but I think we'll be coming to this location from now on. Sam was amazing and took good care of us and we were pleasantly surprised how good our Diablo pizza was. I asked them to put honey on the side and it was perfect to dip my crust in. The place is small, but they do have a 900° pizza oven and it takes minutes to cook the pizza the crust was perfect and my husband loved the pepperoni and the sauce. This month they have about a 10 maybe 12 seat shared table. And about five seats at a standup bar perfect. We also have homemade gelato. My only complaint is. There was a person working there that had short, dark hair, tall and thin, and they waited on tables. Well, she wasn't friendly. And the way that she served our water and everybody else's water, was disgusting. She put her fingers on the top of the glass where people put their mouths. We opted to sit outside on the patio - there are heaters but it's not super strong - however, the staff was super accommodating about it! They finished it with lemon sauce, which was a great touch for pizza. We got the SS - 145 and added mushrooms and prosciutto. We're so happy to try this place and get a little after opening for a seat! They get busy on weekends so be aware but the pizza comes out extremely fast so hopefully not a huge wait time if you do have to wait. Our service was nice and we all ordered different pizzas. We checked it out on a weekday night and it was super busy, but we got a spot at the communal table which I'd say is the best place to sit if you want to watch the pizza making in action. I'm a huge fan of wood fired pizza and a mix of good ingredients like arugula evoo and prosciutto. Our pizzas took about ten minutes which was amazing and service was great, even with a packed restaurant. My only complaint would be that I was expecting the dough to be a little bit more bubbly and done on the bottom, it was missing this like most wood fired pizzas I've had. Oh my goodness!! We haven't had pizza this good in a LONG time! You can't ever go wrong when the pizza oven is a legit one, but the flavors, quality, service, and welcoming vibe push this place over the top! We had our 2 kids (9 and 11) and this was their first time trying neopolitan pizza and they loved it . There is also a convenient bathroom located in the restaurant (with a diaper changing table for those of you parents with littles!). We had to take the few pieces we had left because there was no way we were going to waste any of it. We will definitely return the next time we visit Flagstaff. I've been hearing how great this pizza is. Wood fired pizza. I ordered a Marinara pizza. Plain and simple. Sauce, garlic and basil. The pizza came out literally in 5 mins. Low and behold the top was charred and the bottom was uncooked. Raw in the middle like glue. Pale on the bottom. Once I picked the slice up it went all down hill from there. Immediately I expressed my concern to my server; she took away my pizza. The manager came over to my table. While expressing my concern about raw pizza all she cared about was her food cost. She told me I need to pay half since they had to dispose of it. What restaurant charges for their mistake?? Definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. Being in this industry 28 years I know what the problem was but you can't tell a kid manager with an ego. I was not paying for something I didn't eat! Nor did she offer to fix the issue. Clearly the oven was too hot and the person was not trained properly. Food handlers license or Serve Safe is a good start.Temperatures are crucial. Food poisoning is real. Especially in the desert. Pizzicletta is a tiny restaurant squeezed into the tip of an old building at the cross streets of W. Phoenix Ave. and S. Mikes Pike St. in downtown Flagstaff, Arizona. My daughters and I drove by once at dinner and it was just too busy so we found another spot. Yesterday, Monday, it was a bit after noon and the street was quiet. Perfect time to try this spot. We found free parking right away, a minute walk away, and were seated immediately at the end of a long galley-style table. There was a group of three at the other end of the table (seats maybe 16 people), and a couple out on the patio, near the takeout window. The long table has a stand traveling the table so food can be set there, above, and doesn't take space away from the diner's plates. This place has excellent Yelp ratings for their wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas and simple fare, inspired by cycling through Italy. Even their wines are natural and/or organic. The gelato here is Housemade with a new special flavor each week. Dough used for the pizza crust is a leavened sourdough that they make in-house. I noticed and loved all of these high quality, healthy details. Our server was the greatest! We took a lot of their good suggestions while ordering.
