Great girl dinner here last night outside on the back patio. Love that all the pasta is made in house. The portions were great so we split a pasta and added another salmon to it for more protein. The salmon dish was delicious and the sauce was so yummy. Service was great and love its location downtown so you can walk around and explore all the cute local shops before and after dining.

This small, family-owned scratch kitchen offering Italian dishes is on Aspen Ave in the heart of downtown historic Flagstaff. Parking can be a challenge so factor in some time to find a spot if you can't walk here. We made reservations online yesterday (Sunday) around 12:30 pm while driving up from Phoenix. We made reservations for 5pm, right when they open again for dinner after closing for a couple hours. You must put a credit card in to make a reservation. We walked in right at 5pm. The greeter pointed at our table and told us we could sit down. Placard with our last name and time at the table. Didn't look too busy on this Sunday but wanted to reserve just in case. Service was slow at first. Maybe because they'd just opened? Second half of the meal, our server, Giovanna, was really great, friendly, and on top of it. Scratch-made pasta, sauces, and old, heirloom recipe marinara here. I was in the mood for some good pasta and felt very satisfied with my meal. One of my daughters is gluten sensitive and thought she'd have to get a salad but good news- house-made gluten free options available! She finished her entire dish. My daughters and I were all happy with what we ordered. Everything was delicious. My bowl was piping hot. We ordered: - Raspberry Vanilla Italian Cream Soda - 5/5 - CAPRESE SALAD - fresh sliced mozzarella (5 pieces), bruschetta, topped with balsamic glaze - 5/5 - CREAMY TUSCAN SALMON - House-made pasta, creamy spinach, artichoke, sun dried tomato, caper sauce, 6oz portion of grilled salmon (chardonnay recommended) - 5/5. This was my dish and it was absolutely perfect. Looks are deceiving- this is a very large bowl of pasta. I took my leftovers home - 5/5 - LEMON CAPER - daughter chose gluten free pasta with lemony garlic buttercream sauce with capers, and fresh mushrooms - 5/5. She was trying to save this delicious sauce for leftovers at the dorm but couldn't resist eating it all - 5/5 - GRILLED CHICKEN MARGHERITA - nut free pesto sauce, fresh sliced mozzarella, NAE grilled chicken & heirloom bruschetta, topped with balsamic glaze and basil (pinot noir recommended). Daughter said this was the best. I tried a noodle with pesto and very good, strong fresh green basil flavor - 5/5 Server will shave as much Parmesan onto your dish when they bring it to the table - Yum! Really wanted to try some of the fabulous cocktails and desserts. Had to drive home so we'll have to come back soon. TV playing hockey above the small bar. Two gender neutral restrooms for customers. More seating in the back.

Great dinner experience here recently. We were visiting from Las Vegas, NV for a Christmas event. And decided on comfy Italian food for dinner. We made a reservation a week in advance, which was immensely helpful, since we noticed a lot of walk-in traffics were quoted 45-minutes of wait time. Upon arrival, the White male staff welcomed us warmly. We decided on Caprese salad as the appetizer, which was fresh & had well-seasoned diced tomato atop. I had the Tuscan salmon pasta, and it was delicious with spinach & artichoke. However, I wished the sauce wasn't watery. My husband had the pork chop with pasta, in which he LOVED with fork-tender pork and amazing red sauce. My toddler son loved the butter/garlic pasta. We also had a side of meatballs, which were amazing (not too salty like most restaurants) enmeshed well with marinara sauce with a touch of cinnamon. Our female server was very pleasant too. The restaurant was cozy & inviting too!

We are here after a long day snowboarding and were pleasantly surprised with some of the best Italian food we've had in awhile. The service was excellent and the pasta was very authentic. This last time we got the bolognese which was some of the best I've ever had, meat based and so rich with thick noodles. Aspen and Keith (with hair nonetheless!) helped us and the service was superb. The ambiance here would be great for a date with nice dimmed lighting and just an overall good vibe.

We walked past cafe Stella during the day and I saw the fresh noodles hanging in the window, thought we would give it a try! We were sat in the back which has a cute ambiance. We tried the Lemon Ricotta Pasta which was light in flavor and a splash of lemon. It was an excellent dish to share since we were surprised by the large portion. Would be a great date night spot. Service was a a little slower since it was a Saturday night. We will be back to try another dish sometime in the future.

Absolutely delicious! Would come back here in a heartbeat! My husband and I had the Sausage, Mushroom Pasta and the Creamy Tuscan Pasta and both were exceptional. Also loved the House Salad and Sourdough Bread. Service was fast, respectful and friendly. The ambience is charming and cozy. Highly recommend!

A lovely evening! Their pastas are phenomenal. I had the pasta with eggplant which was their vegan option. It was delicious and the portion size was huge. Great wine selection with really reasonable prices. Our service was very sweet and the ambiance was lovely. We asked for the table by the window and it was perfect. I love the lights on the ceiling. Keep up the great work!

I've eaten here countless times and I'm never disappointed. They serve breakfast and lunch and have a variety of dishes, including vegetarian options. Their waffles are incredible as are their burritos, skillets, tostadas, and gorditas. Breakfast always comes with a side of whole beans (flavored with ham hock) which are super fresh. I can truly say there's nothing bad on this menu! The staff is always super welcoming and friendly and the ambiance is refreshing. It's a smaller space and it does get pretty busy, so be aware of that. The best part is that the cafe is family owned, with roots in Playa del Carmen, MX. My partner and I ordered a chorizo burrito, a skillet poblano, and a plain waffle. While everything was just okay, it honestly felt like something we could have made better at home. I especially wouldn't recommend the waffles -- they were very airy, almost like toast, and at $14 they just didn't feel worth it. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but it's not somewhere I'd return to.

We were intrigued enough that we visited MartAnne's the very next night for dinner. That was on a Tuesday at around 6PM and it wasn't too busy the entire time we were there. House Horchata ($5.99) - This drink comes in a giant 32 oz Ball jar with tons of ice. Per the server it's made with milk and condensed milk, no rice milk at all. It's rich, thick, creamy, sweet, filled with earthy notes of vanilla and cinnamon. There's so much spice included that at some points, there's almost a gritty feeling while drinking. It's perfect for a hot day after hiking. Buckwheat Pancake ala carte ($4.99) - Buckwheat pancakes are something we've never seen before on a diner menu in the past. It seems to be pretty common around Arizona, so we had to give it a try before leaving Flagstaff. This one's pretty big, almost plate sized. It's really moist, fluffy, bouncy, and light with a slight sweetness and a certain earthy flavor. It's moist enough that it sticks to the ceramic plate it's served on. The pancake is somewhat crumbly due to the low gluten content of buckwheat, although I believe they use a mix of buckwheat and wheat flour to give some more stability. It's bluish grey in color with black specks of ground buckwheat throughout. It's dusted with powdered sugar, but it's not a ton, making the pancake not really sweet at all. The pancake comes with a small cup of their cinnamon honey butter. It's not mixed that well, leaving it mostly unhomogenized with streaks of honey and spice through the softened salted butter. Tamale ala carte ($4.99) - MartAnne's offers two types of tamales - the first a red chile beef, and the second a green corn and cheese. We went with the latter, which is a homemade tamale with a somewhat looser, coarsely ground masa shell surrounding an interior of yellow sweet corn kernels, a bouncy and somewhat spongy block of Oaxaca cheese, and a fragrant green chile. There's a slight sweetness throughout and the tamale overall is easy to eat. Chilaquiles, Xmas, Fratelli ($17.99) - This is a monster sized plate of a mishmash of ingredients. There are three things as essentially a base layer. Firstly some Mexican rice that's tender, moist, and fluffy, totally unlike the more common dry and and compact version. My guess is that they skip the initial frying step that helps keeps the starch together. It's quite fragrant and has gives a bit of heat. On top of the rice is a layer of hash browns. The potatoes are tender on the interior, griddled on one side to give a delightful crunch, although there's some acridity that develops. Another third of the plate is covered with chili beans - tender pinto beans that are well salted and seasoned. Then there's the eggs stuffed in between layers of corn tortilla chips, smothered with sauce. I went with the Christmas combination of red and green sauce, followed up by the Fratelli-style pork green chile. The green sauce is fragrant and vegetal, while the red sauce is more smoky. The pork, which is cut into chunks, on top is a bit tough and dry but there's more than enough sauce to make up for that slight demerit. Finally, there's a small mound of I believe jalapeno peppers, cut into small neon-green colored pieces. Some pieces are spicy, some are mild, all have a vegetal pepper taste. I found the food at MartAnne's to be pretty good. It definitely hits the spot after hiking all around the area for most of the day. Bathrooms - Two individual rooms, one for men, one for women. Note: MartAnne's charges a 3.5% credit card fee. This is labeled on the menu.

There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor area is especially impressive. They have what looked like a private dining space inside a barn-style shed, several gas fire pits, and even a slightly elevated platform that looked perfect for live music. Ordering is simple -- you place both food and drink orders at the counter, then they bring everything out to your table. Even though the place was busy, the food came out fast and piping hot. The food itself was outstanding. I ordered the chicken and biscuits and my wife got the chilaquiles. Both portions were huge. The chicken and biscuits were exactly what I was hoping for: smothered in rich country gravy with a perfectly fried flattened chicken breast that was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The buttermilk biscuit was golden, flaky, buttery, and had the perfect balance of soft interior and crisp edges. I honestly got full halfway through my plate and never even got a chance to try the wife's chilaquiles.
