DELICIOUS!!! oh how i wish i could leave 10 stars! my husband and i were visiting flag and i am so happy we found mi tesoro! first, i could drink the salsa, it was so good! my boys (3 and 4) love salsa and both said it was really good too. my husband and i lived in san diego for 15 years so we were around the best restaurants and every bite we ate we just were like "mmmmmm...." to the point we were asking each-other if there was any mexican restaurant in mind that was that good?! it was so good! i had enchiladas (green sauce) and my husband had the birria tacos. the enchilladas were just beyond good! and the birria tacos were so tender and flavorful! oh my goodness ill be dreaming about these until the next time we visit. the rice and beans were so tasty. portions were big, and filling. it was really nice inside. staff was so friendly. we spoke with the manager at the end to just say how much we loved everything, and we found out its her aunts recipes! you can taste the love! we cant wait to go back!!!!! even better if you wanna branch out and come down to the valley! :) youd thrive in gilbert (just sayin)!! i wish we would have taken pictures - weve been bragging to our families about it! read more

First time stopping here after living here for a while, saw all the hype early on but never went. We got the classic and the Tesoro hibiscus margarita and they weren't great. Was excited for the corn dip but it doesn't taste like anything, and unfortunately the salsa was bland too. We were excited for this new spot but were let down. My wife wanted to try Mi Tesoro for her birthday. We were able to make a reservation online and we were sat promptly. Our waitress was named Karen and she was amazing. Very attentive, talked to the group and was always around to make sure we were taken care of. Not only was the service from all on point but the food was amazing as well. My wife got the fish tacos, I got the Birria tacos. Everything was great and the kids finished their plates. The portions are big enough to have lunch for the next day. The salsa was okay could use a little bit of heat but that is just our preference. We sat in a cozy booth, though next time, we'll opt for the bar, which looked especially inviting. We tried the house margarita, which was perfectly balanced--not too acidic and with just the right amount of tequila. For our appetizer, we had the guacamole and chips, which were delicious, especially with the spicy pepper spears on the side. For the main course, we ordered the Gobernador tacos and the chicharrón de ribeye. Everything was flavorful, from the seasoning to the fresh grilled vegetables. The rice was decent, but the beans were a highlight and made up for the rice's shortcomings. The chicharrón was tasty, though it could have been warmer. The tortillas were excellent. Next time, we'll sit at the bar, try a different margarita, and explore more appetizers. The menu is straightforward and unpretentious, which enhances the overall experience. Our kids love the "Gustavo special" from the secret menu Our latest favorite obsessions for food: The burger, chimichanga (enchilada style) and the nachos which are a seriously generous portion. Everything from start to finish is delicious and fantastic. Service is exceptional and we never have to ask for refills, or search for a service. They're always available and happy to be there. The flavors are exactly what you want when you're craving traditional Mexican food. I would eat here every day if I could! Highly recommend! Let me start by saying the waitstaff was wonderful. Very attendance and pleasant. The atmosphere and decor are very nice. The food was disappointing unfortunately. We had the fajita trio and it was woefully under seasoned and while the meats were overcooked the veggies weren't cooked at all. We also had drinks. The beso de verano is a grapefruit drink, and the prickly pear margarita were both good. The prices are on the high side for the quality. I dont think we'll be back. read more

We've always had great food with generous portions, and good service (although if you go in at an "off time" like before 4pm, they ARE short staffed - as any restaurant would be at that time of day). Of course I had to try out the new Mexican restaurant at the mall. Family-owned. Love the music! I always say, if the beans and rice don't taste good, they can't cook. The beans and rice here is delicious! I ordered the carne asada tacos and the papa's taquitos. There are two salsas, mild and hot. The hot salsa is the best. What an awesome restaurant addition to East Flagstaff! The ambiance is beautiful and clean, waitstaff was attentive and provided excellent service! Now to the great part; the chips and salsa were fresh! The corn tortillas are on the lighter side. Even the water was classy. My husband got the steak quesadilla and said the meat was very flavorful! I got the bear battered shrimp tacos and the portion was huge, my hubs had to share. The shrimp tastes fresh and again really good quality corn tortillas! This is the best food I have had in a long time!!!! The atmosphere is wonderful and the service is absolutely fantastic. Mi Tesoro is amazing, in a word. They also have tasty drinks! They have homemade salsa that is truly delicious! If you don't drink, I believe they also have other beverages. I no longer drink alcohol, but they know what they are doing in the kitchen and bar, both. They are bartenders with the highest skill, and they are attentive and professional. The tomatoes and mayo were placed underneath the hotdog, while the onions were layered on top. Unfortunately, this combination did not make up for the hard buns. Everything was good. The alcoholic drinks were not skimpy. The chips could have been a little better, I like rustic homemade chips. The only drawback back is taking a family and dropping $200 plus tip: 4 meals, 1 kids meal. I think it is more for date night or friends getting together and each person paying for themselves. The first time we came here it was excellent. It may have been the manager or owner who served us and the food was great !! Service on Saturday 8/30 at 5:30 was terrible. We were seated then ignored for at least 10 minutes by every worker in the restaurant. Food was also subpar this time, the floor was dirty with dropped food. We had to ask for an item we ordered at least 3 times. The molcajete we ordered was nowhere as good as the first time. First impressions are favorable as the decor is mid-upscale My group enjoyed the Amargo Tequilas and ordered fajitas to share. The Amargo Tequilas are not inexpensive but worth it. The fajitas are a "trio" with strips of beef, chicken, and shrimp. They will serve w corn and flour tortillas if you ask the server. Came in for my mom's birthday dinner, we have been waiting for an hour, still haven't received our appetizer. They slack on refilling the chip basket, we sat here with 2 baskets empty with them just walking by not doing anything about it.
