The food and drinks were great. I couldn't fit in a booth so they sat us at a table near the bar. I believe the bartender on duty was our server. She wasn't very attentive and checked on us a few times. Never asked if we wanted more drinks, which we would have ordered because the drink menu is fantastic. My friend who took me there lives near by and frequently eats there said that is the worst service he had ever received in there. Maybe on my next trip to Indy it will be better. read more

This is one of the best restaurant options when staying at Doubletree hotel in Flagstaff. The food is wonderful! I got the lamb chops which were seasoned , grilled perfectly, topped with an amazing plum wine reduction, served with fresh asparagus and Boursin mashed potatoes! My husband got the grilled salmon topped with crab and served with asparagus; also delicious! The staff are very helpful and friendly. The dining area is open and bright. Stayed at the DoubleTree and chose to use our dining credit as diamond members at the restaurant on site. The host first told me that I would have to place my order as room service in order to apply the credit, which includes an additional service charge. That is incorrect information - you can absolutely eat in the restaurant or order food to go and charge it to your room, without incurring that extra charge. Note: The server did understand that to go qualified. We ordered the Doubletree cookie cheesecake ("That is really good!" per my husband), the lava cake ("Mom, can we stop there again onE more time before we leave?" from my teen son), and the creme brulee, which is what I had. Check out the photos. It was the smallest serving I've ever seen, especially for nine bucks, and it looks like they just slung it into a small to go container. Tasted good, but I could not have been more disappointed in what I saw when I opened the box. Being in a hotel, you'd think they'd have to-go orders mastered by now. read more

Although I always say I rarely eat at hotel restaurants, it seems I've been reviewing a lot of them lately. After a long day driving, I didn't want to drive to dinner. Happily, the service here was great and the food was good. We each had a meal that was well prepared, of reasonable portions and served with a smile. Obviously, the restaurant relies on a trapped hotel audience so no care or attention is given to the food. Both omelet dishes were overcooked to a rubbery texture. The breakfast burrito was bland, saved by the flavorful turkey sausage (they were out of regular sausage for the day). The Eggs Benedict were so overcooked the yolks could have been used for golf balls. The Eggs Benedict was the only dish we asked to be remade only to be told they ran out of Hollandaise sauce - during breakfast time! No wonder only four tables were seated during our Sunday morning visit. Fortunately, there is a diner right down the street, within walking distance even. A nice dining room in the Hilton Doubletree tree. There is a woodland mural done in wood overlooking the dining room. The food was actually quite good. The steak and peppercorn sauce was dynamite and Boursin mashed potatoes rounded out the meal deliciously. The service was on par with any fine dining establishment. The servers were professional, talkative, and attentive to any needs the diner has. The prices are on par with a nice restaurant not cheap but not in the stratosphere either. read more

While the lunch and dinner menu isn't very supportive of a plant-based diet, the breakfast buffet fit the bill nicely. Oatmeal made with water and not milk, breakfast potatoes and various fresh fruits made for a delicious breakfast. The best past was that they also offered soy creamer so my coffee was a lot more enjoyable. The lunch and dinner menu lists vegetarian as a category and not vegan. So they have salads with cheese but they do offer a bean burger as an option. The saving grace is that the bar has a few tasty local craft beers on tap so there's always a meal in a glass. read more

We were staying at the Doubletree, and it was sure convenient to just go downstairs to enjoy a good meal. There was no need for reservations on a Saturday evening. Our server was incredibly friendly and took good care of us. We were delighted to find out we could order off a partial menu of Sakura, which is immediately adjacent; the shared menu includes the appetizers, drinks, and the massive sushi menu, just none of the teppanyaki. We had the gyoza appetizer off that menu plus bacon-wrapped shrimp. Both were delicious. I had the wood-fired salmon for my entree. The whole plate was good, but I have to say the stand-out was the vegetables--so many places overcook them, but these were crisp, tender, and packed with their inherent flavors. My husband really enjoyed the French dip with fries. The check came out with perfect pacing when we were done, too. read more

Recently we came back from an extensive trip through the desert Southwest, ending with a stay at the Doubletree by Hilton in Flagstaff. Although we are now fully engaged in catching up with life at home, I would like to take a moment to thank the Doubletree for a very pleasant stay, especially the unexpectedly fine-dining experience at Woodlands. After a long day on the road, we decided to have dinner at the hotel, and were very glad we did. The quality of the food was excellent: very tender, fine quality meat, both the pork chop and filet mignon, and a delicious béarnaise sauce that matched in quality any that I have had in Europe or the United States. Side dishes were all delicious, with my husband particularly enjoying the crab macaroni and cheese. The staff were all very competent and willing to serve either unobtrusively, or to chat amiably as the customers desired. We particularly appreciated the quiet, pleasant ambience that allowed us to hear everyone at our table. The next morning we went to Woodlands for breakfast and found everything again to be very high-quality, from the omelette and excellent bakery bread, to the eggs Benedict with a perfectly balanced hollandaise sauce. If we lived locally, we would be sure to visit Woodlands as an occasional treat, but look forward to a stay at the Doubletree when our travels next take us through Flagstaff. read more

So, I told the young male server my full order. My one requested would be, do not deliver all the dishes at once. What do I see not 15-17 minutes after I have placed my order on my table Shrimp/ Bacon App, Sushi, Diner Salad, Seaweed Salad, Seafood Pasta, and Fillet Steak all at ONCE. The fish and chips were large and a great thin but crisp batter without being overcooked. Huge helping of thick fries and side of coleslaw. I am not a Asian food connoisseur but the stir fry with shrimp and fried rice was probably the best I've ever had, outstanding. Everything was cut nice sized and cooked thru, the sauce was great. Added just a touch of soy sauce to the rice but it was great mix and cook too. Shrimp perfectly cooked and costing $3 add on I figured maybe 3-4 pieces coming but it showed up with at least 8. My family and I dined at the Wooland area in the Double Tree. Pretty much all the food was good. Our drinks were simple and decent. However, our $43 entree of "filet mignon" was unpalatable. Came out Medium rare when we ordered Medium well, so I had the chef cook it longer to medium well. It came back medium, still not getting it right. Tried eating it and it tasted like a frozen piece of grocery meat. We told the server we couldn't eat it and just wanted it sent back. They sent the manager over to ask what we didn't like about the meal and we told her. They "corrected" it be comping $20 worth of desserts, so we still wasted $23 on this filet entree mistake on their part. We were one of 3 tables sat in a 2 hour span and were having an awesome time with our server prior to this. This immediately ruined our experience. Really surprised by the decision of the manager. Certainly won't be back to this mismanaged restaurant. read more

Breakfast at the double tree by Hilton was delicious during covid. Walk up to the podium, wait to be seated by host, sat at our table, the room is very well lit and beautiful windows to see the trees! I ordered the egg white omelette and it wasn't too oily like other places can make it! The fruit was fresh, I swapped my toast for fruit! The dish came with had browns, love them toasted and an orange garnish! Waters on order, orange juice was also pretty good! My sister ordered pancakes and fruit and she devoured them! We have been staying at the Doubletree hotel for about 5 days now and have received nothing but EXCELLENT service! I want to single out Bryce at the cafe and Don (maybe works banquets and not the cafe?) for their awesome service and personalities! Don served us at Thanksgiving brunch yesterday and we couldn't have been happier with him!! We have also been assisted by Bryce at least 3 times so far and he's been wonderful. It really has become so rare to find such great customer service and this hotel is rockin it! Everyone is nice and helpful and emits such a positive energy. I have had such a great time in Flagstaff and a lot of it is the great service at the hotel!! read more

We went to Sakura Tappanyaki (after driving from Anaheim) and hoped to experience the tappanyaki with family. The time was around 5 pm and the restaurant was slow (we could see no grills being used). We were told that we needed a reservation (this did not show on the website or door of the restaurant) and then were told that they could get us in at 8:30 pm (3 1/2 hours later). The demeanor of the 3 employees (when we first entered) was not welcoming at all. I felt like we were expected to know that a reservation was necessary for a restaurant that had little to no people dining! Since it was in the same building, we stayed to try Woodlands Restaurant. This restaurant doubles as Woodlands Restaurant and the employees seemed to cross over to assist at both locations. As 5 employees stood behind the counter chatting, 2 employees worked the floor. We watched others come in after us and get served even before our order was taken. However, the food was hot and tasty. Not one of the counter dweller employees helped to bus tables or even clean the filthy doors that looked as if someone had attempted to wipe them with greasy/dirty towels. These restaurants seem to be out of place as a part of the Double Tree by Hilton. The management of these restaurants should spend time with the employees and teach them soft skills. Rude employees drive away customers. Lazy employees drive away hard workers, because they don't like getting the same pay as those standing around talking. With 5 employees standing behind the counter talking (to each other, because no customers were around), the tables and doors should have been spotless! The 2 servers and the cooks were the only employees derserving of full pay for the day. read more

Be aware there is a lot of construction in the area and your GPS may suggest a street that's closed. We didn't know this place is in the DoubleTree Hotel and, ironically, we pulled into the hotel entryway to see if we could "borrow" WiFi since we are HHONORS customers and T-Mobile was devoid of Internet in this neighborhood! No joy. There was a sign out front for Sakura but not Woodlands Cafe so we drove around a little more until we found Internet service & got their phone # and called them. The lady who answered let us know it was in the DoubleTree! We walked into the space and it struck as as very Spartan. There are relatively few tables for the size of the space. There was no host/ess so we stood around for about 5 minutes before a server acknowledged us & told us to sit at a table of our choice. The same young man brought water a few minutes later. Our server, Don, asked us if we would like drinks and had to retrieve a drink menu from the host stand (I guess). My bourbon mule (in an authentic copper mug) came out but we had to ask the young lady who brought my drink where my wife, Susanne's drink was! One would think that both drinks should come out at the same time! Hers came a few minutes later. They were very tasty, but we thought a little pricey ($15 for her Presidential Marguerita, $9 for mine). But it is a hotel... Susanne ordered a cup of the soup du jour (chicken & rice) and fish & chips. I ordered the N.Y. Strip, mid-rare. 20 minutes after we ordered I had to ask the server where my wife's soup was. He went to get it & brought it back in a small cup, but not on a saucer as one would expect. She wouldn't eat it because she correctly pointed out that one doesn't know where the server's hands have been. I took a chance and tasted it. So it's really chicken vegetable because there is no rice in it! YIKES! It was a little too salty for my taste but there was a nice portion of shredded chicken. The entrees came out together. Our server had to go back to kitchen (for a steak knife for me, and a bottle of catsup for Susanne's fries). Shouldn't catsup be on the table already? Her Cole slaw tasted like it had turned bad. Don took it back to tell the cook and they agreed to toss the rest out. Otherwise her meal seemed like the fish was fried in either old oil or just too long. The fries were pretty average. I lucked out with the steak which was cooked to order, with nice crisp mixed veggies and perfect garlic mashed potatoes. Don came back from the kitchen to tell us they were deleting her drink and the soup (-$19). I explained that we don't review restaurants to get free stuff. We just want to share our honest opinions. He said something like "Don't worry, we want to make this right." The place could use a thorough cleaning. Sticky furniture and detritus on the window sills do not impress. read more

Stayed one Wednesday night at the Doubletree Hotel and decided to eat at the Woodlands Cafe on the first floor. The restaurant had no other guests when we walked in at 7:30 pm. This always makes me suspicious. Between the girl delivering bread and water and our server, Deante, service was friendly and excellent. I had chicken veggie soup that was unusually thick. It tasted okay but the viscosity translated into old age. I couldn't find anything on the menu that sounded good so I ordered two chicken kabob skewers. This was probably a mistake as they were grissly and tasted as if they were not fresh but rather frozen. My buddy had cod fish and chips and rated it just okay for taste. Very generous portion of fries. Let's go with A+ for service and ambience and a definite D for food quality and taste. Would not be hard to find another restaurant or vending machine with better food. read more
