Yesterday July 28th, we wanted to get some take take out food. We didn't feel like your usual burger, Mexican food, checken etc. so we decided to get some Mediterranean food from Taverna. We got Greek salads with gyro meat and a side of hummus. This was one of the best meals I have had. I know it's "just a salad", but this was the freshest, crispiest green salad and the flavors with the dressing and tzatziki were fenomenal. The meat was flavorful, and the hummus so creamy. Sometimes when you get takeout from a restaurant you end up getting less food than when you actually eat there. Not here! it was a healthy portion. If you're looking for something healthy and not fast food, this is your place. We'll definitely be back. read more

Taverna is wonderful! It is a bit expensive, but it has never disappointed. I suggest going for lunch and doing their incredible lunch special - its a fantastic deal! For $12 you get your choice of personal pizza & salad, or soulvaki & salad. It was the perfect amount and delicious! We come for dinner often as well, but it will run you a bit higher. Hard to find good greek around here so I think its worth the splurge now and then for overall great food. Great ambiance and service! read more

I had the craving for Mediterranean food for dinner while we were in Flagstaff, and remembered seeing this place on a prior visit. I made a reservation, although it turned out not to be necessary, as this place is fairly large and has plenty of tables. We were greeted and seated immediately. Theren are two sides to three restaurant, with tables, booths and banquettes on one side, and a bar on the other side. There is also a separate room that looks like it's set up for parties with sofas in front of a fireplace and rows of long tables. It looks like this would be a great place for a party. There were several good choices on the menu, although there were no lamb chops, which is usually one of my favorite things to order in a Mediterranean restaurant. But no worries, because there was lamb souvlaki! I ordered the lamb souvlaki, which came with pita bread, sauteed veggies, orzo, and a long skewer of grilled lamb cubes. Our server suggested a side of the chimichurri, which they will bring you for free. The lamb was excellent with just the right amount of char. The pits was really good, too--all soft and chewy, not dry like pita can sometimes be, and it was put on the grill to give it that tiny bit of grilled flavor. But surprisingly, it was the buttery orzo with feta that I really loved. Date I say that I liked it more than the standard tumeric rice that you usually get at Mediterranean restaurants? Yes! It was delicious! Hubby got a gyro pita, which came with Greek salad. First, his plate was huge! The salad was enormous for a side salad, and was super colorful (which is a compliment for salads). His pita was pulled so high that he had to eat half of the meat and veggies before he could even pick it up. It was topped with the best tzaziki ever. This place is really great, and if you are looking for Mediterranean food in Flagstaff, this is your place! read more

First time ordered Uber Eats from this restaurant and I'm not sure it will happen again. I ordered the bees souvlaki medium rare with orzo and no feta . The food came with feta. The meat was overcooked and it cost me 37 dollars for basically a child size. read more

During my pre-Thanksgiving roadtrip, I naturally wanted something different than what my hometown offers. Enter: Taverna Modern Mediterranean in Flagstaff, AZ. My dog was waiting in my air conditioned Jeep so I opted to get takeout on November 25, 2025. When I walked in I was promptly and warmly greeted by a nice young man. I ordered at the bar. Used their clean restroom, then waited about 15 minutes for my order to be ready. Later said canine and I shared the Gyro Pita ($18.49) meal which came with fries. I just wish three had been more slices of beef and lamb as they were very thin at that price. I'm also not sure why there was an 8% surcharge on my bill. This is a classy yet comfortable setting for a date, business meeting, family affair, or just catching up with friends. They have a nice, large bar. I'm a fan. read more

Quick lunch stop at flagstaff (on the transit)- family of 4 including 2 kids. Portions were good size and food was fresh from kitchen. We had gyro, pizza, salad and kebobs- all yum! The $16.50 greek salad was mostly bitter tasting purple lettuce. Very few other ingredients. It should be tightly packed iceberg lettuce with all the other ingredients in volume. Delish!! After so much junk food on our roadtrip, my mom and I wanted something fresh and clean. This was just what we needed. Servers were nice and helpful during ordering, but I will say the meats were a bit burnt. We sat by the kitchen so we saw a lot of fire which makes sense as to the char. First of all, the good part. The servers are very good and has nice ambience. However, the food is just average. We order the Saganaki and it was rubbery and not very hot. It should be kind of soft and runny. They use the wrong cheese. It should be kasseri. I had to send it back. We also ordered the Athenian pizza and it was acceptable. Greek food is not all that exotic and there's no reason it can't be made authentically and be so much better. I would not go back. read more

This Mediterranean spot is a little pricey and they charge an 8% surcharge on the bill. Our server said it was because the minimum wage law in Flagstaff forces higher wages (currently $18/hr) and it is passed on to the consumer. None of it goes to the servers. Despite this, the food was absolutely delicious and fresh. We were greeted early and had a great server. We ordered: - Mezze - a selection of housemade spreads, including: tunisian harissa hummus, hummus, and tzatziki - served with grilled pita and fresh veggies - Greek Salad - mesclun greens, heirloom tomato, kalamata olives, cucumber, onion, bell pepper, pepperocinis, feta, greek dressing, Add Chicken, Hold the Feta (daughter said this salad was very delicious!) - Souvlaki - 2 skewers, one chicken and one beef, lemon roasted potatoes, greek salad, pita, tzatziki sauce (I looooved the lemon roasted potatoes. I had a Greek Salad with a 1/2 portion of salmon ($25). It was huge, tasty and filling. My wife had the Chicken Shawarma in a Pita ($18) which she really liked. It was big. For drinks, I had a 12 ounce glass of Peroni draft ($7.50) while my spouse had a 9 ounce serving of Seaglass Chardonnay ($15) from Santa Barbara. - Service: Luke was very friendly, informative and checked back often. - Price and Value: Tough to beat. My friend and I were looking for a spot for dinner, and this was perfect! Grace and the rest of the staff were super attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. I always appreciate when a server can give us helpful info to make sure we are ordering something which fits our palate and appetite. I got the falafel with the side Greek salad. Everything was super fresh! The salad had a beautiful amount of different items. I especially appreciated the range of tomatoes. The falafel sandwich was also good seasoning-wise. I love middle eastern food. The menu looks good. But when I saw the service charge for labor I decided this was not the place for me to eat. I'm not sure if the owner is trying to make a political statement or is just a cheapskate, but this is weird. Your labor costs need to be part of the cost of the product. My shrimp dish was burned and severely over salted and the saffron rice looked like something a child would make. Mediterranean rice should be separated and not clumpy. Stopped by for a quick lunch at this Mediterranean place. We enjoyed the two salads we shared for four people. Everything was fresh and tasty plus portions are big. Definitely a must try if you are by Flagstaff. Space is clean with an open kitchen. Bathroom is equally clean so that says a lot for them making sure all is clean. Yes, they do have a surcharge but I knew about it in advance, having read the on-line reviews before leaving home last week. (I live in another state.) We had three hours of friendly service, a martini, four beers, two glasses of wine, dates, salad and calamari. With taxes, tip and surcharge, we spent less than $140 and created new memories. I doubt that we'll return to Flagstaff but, if you visit Flagstaff -- especially if you're visiting your kid at Northern Arizona U -- I recommend having drinks and dinner here. No, it's not cheap.
