    Pulled pork

Service was spectacular. The food was great. It's like a hidden little gem. Highly recommend their barbecue food. We had the pulled pork and beef brisket.

I really wish Yelp allowed stars in .25 increments. I'd give this place a 4.25 or 4.5 stars. The food was great but took somewhat long. It was quite expensive but it's local and it's bbq, which is to be expected. The Mac and cheese was well appreciated by my kids and I loved the sweet potatoes fries!

You can smell the goodness as soon as you pull into the parking lot ‍ The food was so well seasoned and the tater tots were 10/10 crispy. This is a perfect spot for a quality lunch! Ft their outdoor patio that had a wonderful atmosphere. Service was good also, friendly staff.

I tried Satchmo's in Flagstaff and ordered the beef brisket. The brisket was a bit dry for my taste, though the BBQ sauces were flavorful and helped bring some balance to the dish. The pricing felt a little high for what was served, especially considering the portion and quality. That said, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, which made the experience more enjoyable. Overall, it was an okay meal with great service, but not something that stood out for the price or would recommend.

    Burnt ends, full pound

I was always a fan of Satchmo's. It took my son three visits to finally get the perfect dish for him - Burnt Ends. He never had burnt ends before so I told him it's all about the crunch. He was surprised how much he loved it. And combined with the toasted buns, pickled onions, and fresh pickle slices, he had this look on his face of "why did it take me so long." We also got sliced chicken thighs which were awesome for a lighter non-smoked dish. Great Cajun sauce. Our two sides: Dirty rice which my son didn't enjoy but I inhaled. And jambalaya which is probably better than dirty rice but more filling with the diced sausages. So good.

We went here last weekend while in Flagstaff and got food to go. The inside is small and quaint, with some dine in tables that are separated from an ordering/pick up counter. There's some retail items for purchase such as seasoning too, nice presentation! I love the menu options, as I didn't expect to find Cajun in Flagstaff lol. Anyway upon getting our order, we were a bit dismayed at just how small the "small" sides were.. looking in the bag, I was certain they forgot something. We thought the small sides should be labeled down, such as "teeny" . Anyway, once we started eating, we found the portion was big enough as we were stuffed! My husband got the jambalaya with a small side of mac & cheese. I got the red beans and rice side with a side of the SW coleslaw. The red beans and rice and jambalaya were fire! The macaroni was different.. but good. I think it was one of the cheese in there that's distinct but I couldn't put my finger on what kind of cheese it was. The coleslaw I was not a fan of. I would definitely go here again when back in flagstaff!

This place was very tasty! On top of that, brisket was nice and tender and the tots were perfectly crispy. We got brisket sliders, tater tots, mac n cheese, jambalaya & gumbo. When served, they provide regular BBQ sauce and Spicy BBQ sauce. Both were very delicious and paired very well with how they made their food. The gumbo and jambalaya were our least favorites, however they did not taste bad at all. Girlfriend and I recommend everything we ordered! We will be returning if we are in the area.

The staff here is amazing. I would just visit here for just the service! The food is really good too! The vibe is very mom and pop which we love and we were really glad to have found this place during our trip. We ordered a bunch of stuff to try and they were kind and accomodating to let us get half portions of things. The mac and cheese. Star. Get it. Brisket, good, not the best but still juicy and tender. Tots, delicious. I would skip the gumbo and jambalaya, they were ok at best but it really hit the spot for us and cannot complain!

We drove here after Bearizona and the Grand Canyon, and it was a great meal to finish the day! It's in an unassuming plaza next to a gas station, and you order food at the counter. The gumbo had that rich roux flavor, and you can sub jambalaya or dirty rice for $3.99 (our cashier recommended the jambalaya so that's what I did!). We also went with the ribs based off his recommendation, and they weren't kidding about fall off the bone! Sweet and spicy bbq sauce were available at the table, but it was delicious even without! The cornbread wasn't what we expected, but it turned out even better! More surface area for butter and a nice charred taste. We also ordered the beignets which came covered with chocolate sauce and powdered sugar. A little denser than cafe du monde but fried dough is delicious either way!

Trust the reviews This place is good. I would order the whole menu if I could. Also the service is friendly and the vibe is chill. Will always stop here if I'm passing through.

    Chicken sandwich with tator tot

Solid Cajun food in flagstaff! We came here for lunch and got the lunch special, which gives you a sandwich with tator tots! We ate there and the table has various different bbq sauces which was fun to sample. For dessert - we got the bread pudding which was very good Service: good service Ambience: fun little restaurant with outdoor seating

Love this place... one of my favorites but just placed my normal order - 1 poboy, side of jambalaya & bread pudding. Give them my card got home and looked at the receipt. Sixty dollars! Sixty dollars for a sandwich, small cup of jambalaya & 3 tiny brownie squares. Food is still on point but come on $20 for a small hoagie with 4 pieces of fried shrip!? Done until you drop your prices. We all struggling out here - just trying to support my local restaurants I love when I have some money but can't afford $20 for a small although delicious sandwich.

We've been here twice and I think my reviews from the first time would be much better than the second. The first time we had blackened swai, catfish bites, and tots. We sat outside and the meal was quite tasty. The second time around we sat inside and folks in my party had brisket and pulled pork and gumbo. It was loud and the food was not as delicious. I'd give it another shot though for sure.

Why closed on one of the busiest weekends of the year here? Many pulled up also to only be disappointed finding out they have closed, because they probably drove 2 hrs like us:(

One of their employees had a COVID-19 exposure and they're temporarily closed. They had separated their teams into smaller groups to limit any chance of exposure, so if you're near Flagstaff their food trailer that is located at Mother Road Brewing…

Is satchmos open during the corona pandemic?

Yes, I went recently and the restaurant was open

Is there a patio and are dogs allowed?

I work at satchmo's and yes we do allow dogs of all shapes and sizes as long as they are on a leash. We even have our own water bowls for the dogs which are sanitized after each use to help keep the puppies happy and healthy.

Somewhere along the line, we missed the boat. I ordered the Lumberyard mac & cheese and added pulled chicken and roasted poblanos. My goodness it was a lot of food. The mac & cheese was good, not southern good, but still good. The poblanos were a perfect addition but the chicken was drowned in a cloyingly sweet BBQ sauce. I definitely wouldn't order the chicken again. The hubs had the Santa Maria tri tip. The meat was tough. Quite a few pieces too tough to even chew. Luckily, my meal was huge so he had that to fill up on. I saw the 32 oz cocktails and the former party girl in me immediately kicked in. I think my husband saw the look in my eyes. Maybe the aura around me and put a kabosh on it immediately. I ended up with a 16 oz, still large but that inner 22 years old was disappointed. 32 oz and you should be stumbling down San Fransisco. 16 oz should have at least brought a big 'ol grin. But alas, I couldn't even taste the alcohol. That inner party girl didn't let out that big 'ol grin. (That's ok. The tolerance of 22 year old me has faded through the years). Enough digression, would we come back? Yes, I think it's worth a second shot. We would, however, try something different.

This restaurant is AN EXPERIENCE. The servers were fantastic, attentive, enthusiastic, and clearly talented. Shout-out to the waiter who looked like Mandy Patinkin (minus the mullet). That man was truly giving it his all! The performances were so much fun and definitely the reason to come here. My only performance critique is that I wish the soprano singers had microphones during the group numbers. There were some STRONG tenor belters nearby, so it was sometimes hard to hear the women, but they still did a great job. Now, the food... oof. This is where things fell apart. Everything seemed to be either overcooked or runny. The salmon was burnt, the calamari was crispy beyond recognition, and the fettuccine Alfredo was so runny it was basically pasta soup. It also took forever for our food to arrive. Maybe that's part of the strategy so you have more time to enjoy the show? Ironically, the best meal at the table was my 8-year-old's burger, and honestly, her kids portion was incredible. She definitely won the dinner lottery. I think Black Bart's is a once-on-a-Flagstaff-visit experience. The entertainment is unique, the servers make it fun, and there's really nothing else quite like it. But with the prices and the quality of the food on our visit, I don't think we'll be rushing back. Sorry, Black Bart's. I still love you, but we need to work on that cookin'!

This is our 2nd time at Fat Olives. I love their wooden floors, wooden tables and chairs and the brick walls...simple yet stylish! We decided on two pizzas- the 12" Shrimp Fra Diavolo (pesto sauce, spicy shrimp, basil, and the wonderful Calabrian chiles and chili oil) and a 10" Pepperoni. The shrimp pizza was amazing and will have me stopping in here on future Flagstaff trips! The crust was perfectly cooked- a little char from the wood smoke oven and a little chewiness like a good crust should have. Despite the place getting crazy before we left, our waiter was very attentive and got us a box for our last 3 slices (all from the pep) and to-go drinks. Being hot and sunny, we placed the pizza box on our dash and had the last few slices hours later on the road. The only problem with Fat Olives is it being in Flagstaff and not in metro-Phoenix. Okay...2nd problem is I want to try every pizza they have. If the first problem gets fixed, the 2nd problem may go away!
