Well, we decided to give Sizzle another shot and try the meats this time so I can give it a proper review. I think my second visit just validated my first, and Sizzle unfortunately just fizzles when it comes to Korean options in the city. Service: We waited 30 minutes for a table despite seeing several open tables. We were told by the host it was because the servers needed to "catch up," which was confusing at first. After finally being seated, we realized the servers cook for you, so probably they didn't have enough servers or something, but never good to see a bunch of open tables while being placed on a long wait. Our waiter Wonmin was great though. He did a good job at cooking the meats and refilling the banchan. There was one point where we had raw meat sitting for a while before our waiter came back. Another server who walked by could have easily pitched in to help our waiter by throwing it on the grill for us to keep things moving along. If they utilized their waiters more efficiently for things like this, maybe they could seat more people. Food: I'll admit the meats are definitely better quality than what you get at an AYCE Korean joint. However, a few things stood out. The beef brisket still had a good amount of fat on it, and our marinated short rib came with a giant piece of bone which should have never been served. For the $155 I'm paying for the beef set, I would have expected better. They recently raised their prices btw and the prices aren't correct on their website (our set was listed for $145 on the website). Sides: The free banchan was good and a nice variety, and the waiter brought us as much as we wanted. However, some of the banchan they listed on their website (broccoli, cucumber kimchi, potato salad) weren't even offered as an available option. Value: While the three of us had plenty to eat with the large beef set that is supposed to feed 3-4 people, I wouldn't call the $155 price tag a value. Portion wise the meat easily fed us all, but to give us one soup and steamed egg, and expect this could be shared up to four people seems like a stretch unless everyone is getting a tiny amount. Also, rice which is a staple in every Korean reataurant, didn't come with our meal. To charge us $2 for a small bowl of rice each is really nickel and diming people already paying a premium for your meats.

Sizzle Korean BBQ Order the items ala carte and if you want to cook, then this is not the place for you. They actually cook for you, kind of nice for that person who always cooks and doesn't eat. Plus you learn how everything is suppose to be cooked the correctly. We had the Marinated Short Rib, Ribeye and the Beef Belly, Bibimbap, Steamed Egg and Rice. The Marinated Short Rib was bueno, wonderful, excellent, amazing, fine, superb, awesome, highly recommend. Meat quality is much higher than the other KBBQ that you cook your own food. The marinated meats are so good, highly recommend, they may need to change out the grill because of the marinate blackens the grill. Remember, this is Not an All You Can Eat

Beautiful space with very nice decoration; helpful and attentive staff; nice food presentation and very practical Korean BBQ. Meat(s) & Kimchi(s) taste fabulous but too much MSG as after taste/results. Noise level (K-pop) is un-bearable as too loud and invasive.

Came to sizzle for a girls lunch date with my daughter. It's been a while since our last time here. We had lunch a couple of hours ago. The place only had one other customer. At first I thought it was closed. So.. The food was good just like last time. It was so nice to sit down and immediately be provided a nice cold bottle of water. I didn't even order a drink because the water did not taste like other restaurants tap water. It was cold and refreshing.

Food's pretty good but not enough meat per bowl. Service was good though. We didn't go for the grilling coz we didn't feel like cooking. Bit pricey too.

Absolutely had a blast celebrating our anniversary at Sizzle Korean BBQ in Desert Ridge! We dove into the beef combo: beef brisket (so juicy), boneless short rib (melt-in-your-mouth), marinated short rib (my personal MVP), and marinated thinly sliced beef (tender and packed with flavor). The combo also came with a warm, comforting kimchi stew that hit the spot--just the right amount of kick. We couldn't resist adding kimchi fried rice as a side--charred, crispy, and loaded with flavor. It paired perfectly with everything else, especially the Ban Chan (the little side dishes that are totally free and refillable!). The banchan was a showstopper--kimchi, pickled radish, crunchy veggies, and even some spicy bean sprouts. We kept asking for more! Between the sizzling grill action, the endless banchan, and the amazing food, it was a night to remember. Sizzle Korean BBQ is officially our new go-to spot for celebrations--or just a craving for some seriously delicious Korean BBQ!

Came here on a Saturday afternoon without a reservation & was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't packed out. The restaurant is in a huge plaza so parking wasn't too bad. The restaurant has an intimate feel, which I like since it is in a big shopping center. We did the 5 beef combo with an order of kimchi fried rice & everything was amazing. All the meats were seasoned well & the waitress made sure they were cooked to perfection. The fried rice was cooked well & the egg on top really enhanced the flavor. We also had the kimchi stew which I would absolutely recommend. We had the red bean ice cream dessert & it was my first time trying it, but I'm definitely a fan. Next time I'm in the area, I'll be coming back here.

I came by myself to this location and the service here was good. It's usually hard to solo done at a kbbq restaurant but I enjoyed it here. I ordered the beef tartare for starters. The beef was more on the frozen side but after a while, it did defrost and paired really well with the pear and cucumber. For an appetizer, the portion size was huge and the taste was very refreshing !! The sesame oil and dried seaweed sheets also helped tie the whole dish together. For the main entree, I ordered the hot spicy beef soup that came with a bowl of rice. There were also noodles inside the soup! The soup was very comforting and paired well with a soju drink. The soup is also deceivingly huge. Even after having to take the rest home, it still filled up a whole quart. For $15, that is super worth it. I ended the meal with a mango bing soo. No words needed. So sweet and refreshing.

They may be known for their great barbecue, but the desserts are out of this world. Best "Bing Soo" (shaved ice) ever!!! Strawberry, Mango and Sweet Red Bean. So refreshing and yummy!!!!!

This is an Amazing Korean BBQ place! The food is super delicious and the restaurant is real nice and has a cool vibe to it! It was my first time here. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly. Our booth was comfortable. They played good music, but it wasn't too loud. We ordered 4 meats and they were all mouth watering: Prime Rib Eye, Pork Belly, Thinly Sliced Beef, and Short Ribs (Galbi). We were very happy with our selection. Everything was delicious but my top 2 were the Thinly Sliced Beef and Galbi. I loved the bit of saltiness in the thinly sliced beef. The banchan was very good. We also got the steamed egg (cooked to perfection) and Bulgogi with glass noodles (excellent). Our server, Daniel, was great! He cooked our food perfectly and was very helpful. He changed out our grill a few times, too. His service is 5 stars! I asked him what were his favorites and he liked the Galbi and Grilled Squid I believe it was. What I also really liked about this place was that it never got smoky inside or at our table. The restaurant was also pristine. I highly recommend this spot if you want good Korean bbq in Phoenix, Arizona. This was located in The District shopping center. We were so full that we walked it off while shopping.

My boyfriend found out about this place from a friend, and he was so excited to share that there was a KBBQ place for us to try together. I looked up the menu, and I immediately noticed how the quality of the meat looked top tier. As a note, it is also not all-you-can-eat (AYCE), so I would suggest doing the combos + ordering a la carte. It is great that your food still comes with some sides (if you order the meals or combo!) For dinner, we ordered the small beef combo with: beef brisket, ribeye, marinated short rib, marinated thinly sliced beef (bulgogi), and kimchi stew. We didn't order anything additional aside from two white rices, as well as soju (shoutout to the lychee soju and Peach ChuHai cocktail.) My favorite meats were the brisket and marinate short rib, but all of it was delicious. I would say it was the perfect amount of food for two people because I had to take deep breaths at the end of the meal. Our waitress was also a sweetheart. She was very patient and soft spoken! The workers cook the kbbq for you, by the way, so they're standing there as you're having conversation over dinner. She would leave to let the meat cook and to let us eat, so it is not overbearing or awkward at all. We do like the experience of cooking our own meat. Regardless, the food and alcohol was delicious, there was good customer service, and the place itself has a good amount of booths/tables and reminds me of KBBQ spots in San Diego.

It's been a while since I had a little BBQ and this wasn't a little. Ordered a small for two came with quality cuts, all you can eat yummy sides and our waiter was attentive in cooking the meat to perfection.

Love that they cook the meat for you--no stress, just amazing food. Everything was perfectly grilled, the sides were endless, and the service was top-notch. The ambiance was fun and low key. Definitely my new go-to KBBQ spot.

I stopped by Caldwell County BBQ for dinner on a Saturday evening. Located in Gilbert, I found…read morestreet parking right in front of the restaurant despite it being quite busy. I'll preface this review by saying I have very high standards when it comes to BBQ. I am from Houston after all. Caldwell County BBQ very much lived up to the hype. It's no surprise their reviews are so good. Ambiance (5/5): Caldwell County BBQ serves Texas-style BBQ. I felt right at home. There's a lot of Texan decor and the sort of ambiance you would expect at a BBQ joint. It's a spacious restaurant with plenty of seating outside and a decent amount of seating inside. We sat inside. One of the things they do well is keeping the A/C blasting both indoors and outdoors (while you're likely going to wait in line) along with misters. Definitely something you need in Phoenix! Service (4/5): I hate waiting in line. Though it's not unusual at popular BBQ spots, I still wish places like this would hire a couple of more people to make the line move faster (or even completely eliminate the lines). We probably waited in line for about 20 minutes. They have a water cooler along the route, but it was all out. Something the staff should check on a little more frequently. With all this being said, Caldwell County is well worth the wait. Drinks (5/5): Whenever I'm at a BBQ joint, I'm looking for sweet tea. Which they have here. Plus your standard assortment of soft drinks and alcohol, with a focus on beer. Food (5/5): BBQ joints typically have you pay by weight or by plates (one meat, two meats, three meats, etc.). Caldwell does it by the pound unless you go with a sandwich, loaded baked potato, etc. What's nice is they also have a family pack for 4 which comes with brisket, pulled pork, and your choice of ribs, sausage, or one other protein which is escaping me. Plus two large pint-size sides. We rolled with this option as it's a good deal (brisket, pulled pork, and St. Louis style ribs with corn casserole and mac and cheese). White bread, pickles, onions, and jalapenos are available free of charge. There are three BBQ sauces at each table: their classic BBQ, spicy, and AZ gold). We also added a quarter pound of the AZ burnt ends. Man, these are some quality meats. Brisket is the true test of Texas BBQ and the shining star. The brisket here isn't the best I've ever had but it's quite respectable. The sweet and spicy AZ burnt ends were delicious too. The ribs were tender and had a nice sweet glaze on them. The pulled pork was my least favorite, but still quite good. The sides are solid, though they could be a bit better. The mac and cheese was too peppery for my taste and the corn casserole was too sweet. Like pretty much all craft BBQ these days, Caldwell County BBQ isn't cheap. But the quality is there. This is the type of place that I would come back to again and again. They also have a location in Peoria though this one is the original. And I hear they don't run out of meats as other BBQ joints do (especially in Texas). That's a big plus! It's always a bummer when a BBQ joint is out of something you want. If you haven't been to Caldwell County BBQ, change that quick. Yeehaw!

Atmosphere 5/5 The back patio was our celebration location and it was filling up quickly and we gathered for the celebration. We had about 135 guests, and everyone was raving about how good everything tasted. Working with Marcus was super easy from the start. He made the entire process smooth and stress-free, and he was always accommodating whenever we needed to make changes to the quotes or menu. He was friendly, professional, and genuinely great to work with. He provided the charcuterie boards for our cocktail hour, which were a huge hit, and then served BBQ for dinner. The buffet-style setup worked perfectly, and the line moved quickly. We never ran out of food, and guests kept coming up to us throughout the night to tell us how amazing everything was. They handled all the setup and even brought their trailer on-site, smoking and cooking right there at the venue which was so cool to see and added to the whole experience. On top of all that, Marcus is super affordable, especially considering that the quality of the food is truly exceptional. You get incredible value for what you pay. We absolutely loved working with Marcus and would definitely use Gibson's Smokehouse again. Highly recommend for any wedding or event!- Megan & Cierra

For sides, they were $4 for what appeared to be 8oz cups which seemed a little pricey but if homemade it's worth the price point. Both my cousin and I thought the coleslaw was an odd flavor like there was either red apple or radish in there, but we couldn't quite figure it out. A skip for me if I visit this truck again. As for the potato salad, it was fairly decent though it had large pieces of potato skins which I personally do not care for in my potato salad. Since we didn't get any actual food as I stick to a vegetarian diet mostly, I'll give it a 4 star for the sides. Overall, the service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere is what you make of where a food truck is parked. The condiment/utensils available on the ledge do make it easier for grab-and-go.

So we decided to try it out, did an online order for takeout. I had the brisket and pulled pork. Both were amazing. My sides was Maggie's Mac n Cheese. It's was sooo good. My roommate got the salmon, pulled pork and the Mac n cheese. She said it was very tasty. Both of tried the peach cobbler, and both agreed it's the best we've had. The woman that got my order together was very nice and informative. Do not remember her name. But the initials GD were on the first time card she gave us.. Had a good score (4.7) so we decided to give it a shot Nice place inside. Decorated with veterans in mind. Has a similar setup to Rudy's where you order/pay up front and they call you up when it's ready. Was kind of worried because the place didn't smell like bbq. Ordered the turkey and jalapeno sausage with a side of bbq beans. Has a selection of six different bbq sauces at the table. I wasn't too impressed with any of them. There is a mustard sauce up by the drinks that was pretty tasty tho. The turkey was dry. The sausage had decent spices but the skin was a little tough. Neither had a bbq/smoky taste. The beans tasted like canned pork and beans with sugar and bits of brisket added. All and all I wasn't too impressed and probably won't be back. The staff was friendly and helpful and I was hoping it would be better

It's all good, but not the best by any means. If I ever find myself in that area again I'd go back, but it's not good enough to go out of the way. Had the two meat platter with pork short ribs and sliced brisket with beans and potato salad as sides. The potato salad was average, nothing special, but good enough. Same for the beans; yes, there was meat in it, but not much of it. The pork rib was good, tender enough. Now, the sliced brisket was VERY good. Nicely smoked/cooked, very tender. You have a choice of three sauces all in plastic squeeze bottles at your table. I tried them all [spicy, house (sweet) and mustard]. All three were as good as you would get anywhere else. It's counter service only and they have ample inside and outside seating. Plenty of parking.

While we were waiting, someone even came around with samples, which definitely made the line more manageable. When we finally ordered, we got the two-meat plate with ribs and brisket, plus a side of the house sausage. Overall, I'd definitely come back again if I were visiting the area.

There wasn't a big wait time for the food at all! Soon after we arrived, the corn bread was served (yummy but it fell apart easily), shortly followed by our spinach queso appetizer (very yummy), and not too long after that, our main course arrived (SUPER yummy). We ordered the Whole Hog Heaven, which was definitely worth its price for our family of 4 -- It came with your choice of 2 ribs/2 meats/3 sides. We ended up packing up the leftovers, aka a lil over half of the platter that was left... we made it our lunch/dinner for the following day lol. The waitress also offered complimentary warm/fresh donuts after we finished our meal, and the donuts were AMAZING. Kinda had the taste and texture of a churro. We were here for Easter Sunday, so I thought it was cute to see a little festivity with the egg and bunny decoration to our drinks (check my image). The vibe in here was pretty sociable, I would overall def recommend this place for any mini group gathering :) One small thing I will say is that the Brussel sprouts were a bit overly flavored or saucy

Our server was initially very attentive and got him his wine and me my beer. This is where the service fell apart. The server never came back This is May in Phoenix. If the server was overloaded with other tables we could understand. This was not the case. There were 3 other patrons in the restaurant. All the servers and other employees were at the hostess stand and there were 4 of them. A bartender could tell visually that our drinks at that point were almost empty. However, we were not her customers Fair enough! However, at 4:15 pm I would expect our server to have come back to check on us. Also, not begrudging employees working double shifts. But, 2 other employees eating wings in the bar. All things forgiven if I had gotten decent service. I was going to eat dinner. But, given the service climate. I decided to cut my losses and pay for my beverages and leave . I would have commented to the Manager on duty if one has been visible. I have been to other locations of BobbyQ's and had a great experience. It's just a shame the employee's and management at this location don't care. Even though this location is only 3.5 miles from my house. I doubt I will be back. It might be a while, but will go to the 27th ave location. Good luck with this location You might want to fix your service challenges or you might go the way of Zen Burger. People will only put up with so much even if the food is exceptional. Don't rest on your Laurel's.

This what we ordered: Brisket Hot links Pork Belly Pork Ribs BBQ Beans Collard Greens BBQ Spaghetti Hot Water Cornbread Cedar Lane Lemonade Everything was flavored nicely. If I had to omit one item from our order it would be the beans. My favorite was the BBQ Spaghetti, collard greens and the Hot water cornbread. I thought the beans would have a bit more flavor, but I've never been a bean kind of gal. You will need to try it for yourself! The Hot water Cornbread was great. The texture was a little gritty, but still yummy. The shape is what caught me by surprise. It was round and flat almost like a pancake. The service was outstanding. Friendly and hardworking. The food came out in good time. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. Has a warm but rustic vibe. I would most definitely revisit this spot whenever in the area.

It's an active neighborhood, what can you say? Neither here nor there, but the ephemera that adorns the walls is different than what you might find at a soul food place. It's decidedly more American as such. Speaking of the signage: one of them reminds you that bbq is not fast food and that a patient temperament is of the utmost. Yet, the smoker ain't going. The Cue been cooked. As for the sides, no one does greens and Mac n cheese a la minute. So if everything is prepared, why do I have to wait? I kid. I jest. They had pulled pork. Bites of the smokerd rendered fat therein had the effect of rocket fuel. Pork belly was even porkier than the aforementioned shredded butt. Ribs pretty good too. Mac: ultra cheesy. Pot liquor from the collard greens came in clutch for hydrating the more dry pieces of pork.
