This place was cool. Opened two weeks ago and picked a great spot in an area of Foggy Bottom that has been dominated by Circa. The decor is fantastic, with an assortment of beautiful plants, plenty of natural light and a spacious dining room and lounge area. The food is solid American food. We went for brunch and got the breakfast burger and pork sandwhich. My favorite dish were the home fries. So good i asked the waitress how those were cooked up. It's a cute meeting spot. The ambiance is great, although it's a bit loud. The grilled shrimp and corn appetizer is delicious. However, it shouldn't be under Shared Plates, as the portion is small. The meatballs and broccoli are also delicious. The charcuterie board is pretty underwhelming, esp for the price. I got 3 items (salami, ricotta, and blue cheese). It came with pita, marcona almonds and honey. Cute, but definitely not worth $18. The pasta dishes are generous, but both the shrimp pasta and the chicken pesto pasta were lacking in flavor. Both were actually pretty bland. On the other hand, the baked chicken with chickpeas was surprisingly flavorful. Service is spotty. When you can find your server, it's great. They are warm and know the menu quite well, so they are helpful when it comes to recommendations. But both times I've gone, the servers would disappear for long periods of time and we had to ask other servers for help. Drinks also take a while to come. Second location I've visited and the vibes are immaculate but the service is so, so slow. I made a reservation but wasn't able to sit until half my party was there (understandable but annoying due to the slow service). Place is very dark but good acoustics. We started with wine flights and our waiter was more the vibe of we choose but he wasn't able to curate a whole flight (but did give a good individual recommendation or two). Our wine flights took 20-25 minutes to get to our table and only 4/5 showed up and our last friend waited another 8 minutes for hers. I'd say this spot would be horrible as a first date spot- you wait forever for a drink. The food really shines- we did app style. We got the fig and prosciutto pizza and the spicy sausage one- both had good ratio topping and a nice flavor. We also got the burrata, the golden beets, and the zucchini chips- all fantastic, fresh and light tasting. The zucchini chips are the app with the longest wait. We also split the burger and the parpadella- both were great but the burger was the star of the show. It was very juicy and a huge portion- worth the money. Overall a nice time if service would pick up the speed. This place has a big interior with lots of natural lighting. They have a huge selection of wines akin to the name with options ranging from a tasting pour to a full pour. I saw some videos of this restaurant on instagram and have been wanting to try. I was not disappointed. I AM GLUTEN AND DAIRY FREE. Which they were are of after I alerted them and were cognizant of. I ended is taking the one gluten free pizza they had and changed it to have meat. Because of how they ring it up it ended up having to be added which was fine. When I say that pizza was GOOD. Out on a solo venture Sixty Vines was on my hit list of places to try. There was a private party so the main bar area was closed off. I was able to grab a chef table seat at the pizza oven area. The food was tasty. I had the chic and caviar small plates. But I came for the wine and it did not dissolve. We were recommended several options to try for wine, and I did love that you can try as many wines as you want before committing, but I was not a fan of the recommendations given by my server based on my preferences. I really wanted some pizza and some wine so I decided to check out sixty vines. That's exactly what I got plus some. I had the spicy sausage pizza, which was delicious. I added red chili flakes and Parmesan as well. For wine, I had the loveblock Sauvignon Blanc (half glass) and the Belle Glos Pinot noir (full glass). They were both delicious as well. I did sample a few of the options based on what I generally drink and then made a final decision on what I actually wanted to drink. I typically don't do dessert, but the cheesecake option sounded too good to pass up, and I'm glad I didn't. I paired it with GOLDSCHMIDT, a dessert wine. It was such a wonderful night to relax and sit at the bar, especially with Janderson providing phenomenal service. He was so helpful with recommendations and answering my questions. During Tappy hour we tried a variety of white and red wines where you can choose from a 2.5oz, 5oz, 8oz pour or if you really need it, you can order a carafe. For food we shared the chicken Caesar salad and fried chicken with caviar. Believe me when I say everything was delicious. Upon walking in, we just wanted to sit at the bar and learn a bit. It's mind blowing to see the number of wines they have available. Like seriously, there's no way you can taste them all. The variations of what they have are extremely impressive. While there we went for some food tasters and their array is also pretty impressive. I like the modern food choices as they were all refreshing and delicious. Hands-down, this is a definite staple of what you'd expect out of the DC area. Hostess was lovely and grabbed us the last outdoor table on a gorgeous DC night. The waiter quickly came over, dropped off cups and menus. Then disappeared without a trace. 40 minutes later, our water cups still sat empty, no one came to take our order. The one time the waiter was on the patio, we tried to flag him down to no avail. No one ever came over. Sitting there for 40 minutes, still waterless and orderless, we got up and left and walked to Western Market for a lovely dinner. The service was better at each food stall than at the "lux" Sixty Vines. I probably worked Kia's last nerve. Lol, but she was exceptionally pleasant and accommodating. I really wish our group of 20 would have been able to take advantage of the private dining, but it wasn't quite ready for a full dinner service yet, so we sat in the main dining room. The servers for both of our tables were kind and handled our large party with grace. This newer DC addition is sure to bring some added flair and vibes to the area. We ate at the bar near the pizza oven because they were short of servers, so lots of tables that were open were not being seated right away. This place is the epitome of the service does not match the vibe (I should have known by walking in and seeing the $25 rosemary candle for sale. You would think it would come with a bushel of rosemary!) We came around 10-ish, the server told us kitchen close at 10:35 and last call is 10:45, they close at 11. Got it. The wine comes in many different sizes starting at 2.5 oz (flight portion) but no 6 oz (5 oz is closest) so it is pricy. The interior is beautiful. Light and airy, and service was very friendly. However food was just meh. Beet hummus was good. Salmon was just at the point of being overcooked and presentation was weird. Margherita pizza was just okay. A friend and I came here in the late afternoon/before the dinner rush hit, and had a lovely time. We got the shrimp campanelle (but with just veggies, as my friend is vegetarian), the wood-roasted cauliflower, and the brussels sprouts. Everything we got was great, though the small plates definitely stood out more than the pasta. Made a reservation through OpenTable was easy, and snatched time for a 12:30pm brunch. It's such a beautiful restaurant with lots of natural light. Since it was a Monday, the restaurant wasn't full but it did take us time to order since times between the initial check-in with our waiter was long. Brussel sprouts came out with our drinks and were saucy with good texture. For drinks, we ordered the Carajillo (a fantastic chocolate cocktail with unforgettable spiced salt) and a glass of the Centorri (a sweet moscato), since the place is known for their wines and such. The Roasted Pork sandwich was tasty and served with smashed potato fingerlings that were delicious and crispy. Overall, I was impressed with the selection and enjoyed my brunch. I loved Sixty Vines! A neighborhood alternative to North Italia, Sixty Vines serves delectable meals with 60 wines on tap. Being able to choose a half glass, glass or bottle from such a large selection of wines is incredible. Find your new favorite or try a half a glass of something out of your wheelhouse - you can't go wrong! The food is good too. I'd say North Italia serves better dishes; however, Sixty Vines beats them (by far) in the caliber of service. Our server was energetic, engaging and kind. She did a fantastic job recommending her favorite dishes and wines. The space is very large and plays jazz. A perfect location for a date, happy hour, mentor meetup, or even a self care day. Which to then I saw a large table who got there after us get served 4 large bottles of water. I could've drank tap at this point I don't care I just wanted water after 20 min of watching other people be served it. After another 15 minutes we finally had to tell someone that still nobody has come over and given us napkins or taken our drink orders. A nice lady finally come over and serves us and from there the service was great but for the first 35 minutes it felt as if we were being ignored. It was my friends birthday so this was a little frustrating. Other than this the food was great. The place is nice inside. We got multiple appetizers and pizza and those were amazing. Today, I visited Washington, D.C. with my beloved partner and had an amazing time exploring the city. Since the city was exceptionally crowded, we didn't have a set schedule and decided to visit a restaurant located in the same building where we parked our car. Unfortunately, we couldn't make a reservation in advance, so we opted for a walk-in. At the host stand, we were informed that there would be about a 25 minute wait, which we understood since we didn't have a reservation. While waiting, I went inside the dining hall to use the restroom and noticed that many tables were unoccupied. I found it odd but assumed it was part of the restaurant's scheduling and seating strategy, so I didn't question it. After waiting for about 25 minutes, we were finally seated--right next to the open kitchen. However, I quickly noticed that there was a much better window-side table available. When a tall female waitress came to greet us, I politely said hello and asked if we could move to the window seat if possible. She responded that I would have to ask the host or manager about it, then simply walked away. I waited for about five more minutes, assuming she might handle the request on our behalf, but when she returned, she asked if I had spoken to the host myself. I was surprised because I thought she would assist with the request, yet she told me to go back to the reception area and ask directly. I found this odd but didn't want to ruin my good mood, so I went to the host and politely asked for a table change. The host agreed and made some changes on the computer, so I assumed the request had been processed. However, when I returned to my seat and waited, the same waitress came back and told us that the host needed to escort us to the new table. Otherwise, we should just stay at the current table and wait for a server. So we moved to the new table and waited again--this time for about five minutes. No one came to assist us. At this point, my partner and I felt extremely frustrated and disappointed. We decided to leave the restaurant. As we were walking out, we crossed paths with the waitress, but she didn't say a word--no attempt to ask if there was an issue, no apology, just completely ignoring us. When we passed by the host on our way out, he also didn't ask what happened but instead smirked and said, "Bye" in a condescending manner. I still have no idea why we were treated this way. The waitress's attitude was outright rude--her tone, mannerisms, and unwillingness to assist were incredibly unprofessional. The fact that we sat at a table for nearly 20minutes without receiving service felt intentional. I don't want to assume the worst, but this experience made me feel like we were being discriminated against. What was supposed to be a joyful day in Washington, D.C., was completely ruined by this restaurant's treatment of us.
