I visited for a girls night and the ambiance is great. There are limited vegetarian options so we opted for drinks and snacks instead of a full meal. We felt a bit rushed but overall the drinks and food were fabulous and would return.

not a single bad thing to say --- the martini was PERFECT and buttery, came with a sidecar and blue cheese stuffed olives & the waiters brought out more olives when asked for the food was all delicious literally no notes --- every bite was perfect and delicious the vibes were cozy yet upscale I loved it here

    Even the bathroom was elegant!

An absolute gem of a French restaurant. The menu is incredible--thoughtful, creative, and full of unique pairings that feel elevated. Every dish we ordered was balanced and just delicious. The space itself is small and cozy, which really adds to the charm. It's definitely not ideal for large groups, but that intimacy makes it perfect for a one-on-one date or a quiet, special night out. The wine selection deserves a shoutout too--excellent variety and really well curated. Our waiter was fantastic and took the time to recommend a glass that perfectly complemented our meal. If you're looking for a romantic, intimate French dining experience with standout food and wine, this spot is a must.

No notes!!!!!!!!! NO NOTES!!!! I've been tracking this place for a while. Renovating the old Cuban restaurant where I spent my 20s dancing late into the night, the space is unreconizable (in a good way). The grand staircase entrace quickly gives way to a warmly lit bar and hightop seating area perfect for drop-in tipples with friends. Reserved seats are in the back where dark patterned wallpaper and low light feel entimate and a bit flirty. The space isn't big, but there's room to squeez past tables w/o too much fanfaire or loss of personal space. It's still opening month so the energy level in the space is high. Servers great you with water and a run-down of the menues. It's a wine bar but they have a moderate cocktail menu that shouldn't be slept on. Wine's by the glass are broken down by broad categories (sparkling, white, orange, red, N/A) and run $12-16/glass with a correct size pour. We tried one from each category (except N/A....you know me) and with input from our waiter...nothing...missed! The reds were diffintly curated to hold a theme with each region still showcasing a hint of smoke/leather, good fruit and well integrated. The oranges weren't too natty and the whites were acid-forward and crisp. Now they do have a food menu. I'd warn you to not come here starving (or do, just be prepared to order everything) as dishes are really snacks, meant to keep the pallat allive between sips. But they did not sleep on the execution of the dishes either. Highlights were the escargot in a mushroom compote (don't be scared, these aren't your grandmas snails), the crab and corn pasta, and the smoked eel croquettes. Dishes come out fast, but the night unfolds slow. With the light from candles flickering on your table, it's easy to melt into this inviting space. And in true AdMo fashion, we ran into several friends also trying the spot out. Drop-ins will be tough until the opening months fever dies down, but this place, this space, is a more than welcome addition to this cities growing love of wine bars. We can all feel at home at Maison.

I have very little words! This is the best meal I had all year. I traveled all around the world and Maison Bar AVins stole the show!!! It's absolutely stunning in here. Perfect for date night or an evening of celebration. Every dish blew me away. From the starters to dessert. Just an unreal experience plus amazing service!

I went with a friend to try this newly opened wine bar in Adams Morgan. It's a small, intimate space with a wide array of drink options. We tried the eel croquettes, which had a lovely gooey texture inside with a crisp exterior and a lovely dipping sauce. The creste di gallo corn and crab pasta was very satisfying and a decent portion. The chocolate and cherry mousse cake was rich, with an interesting (and delicious) denser texture, and the olive oil and vinegar-soaked cherries were a great accompaniment. The choux with fig leaf ice cream didn't wow me as much - the flavor of the ice cream wasn't really coming through for me, and I didn't finish it. My friend really enjoyed her cocktails, especially the tomato one. They have some very creative dishes and I'm curious to go back and try more. The ambience was good and it wasn't too loud despite the tight quarters. It's very popular right now, so make a reservation if you can. I enjoyed trying it out, and I'll be curious to go back and sample some more menu options in the future. We sat at the bar and staff did a great job explaining the menu, but I wish the descriptions of dishes had been included with the menu, as we had to ask for a lot of details to get a sense of what we were ordering. Curious to see how it continues to grow, as it seems they have a lot of plans for expanding!

Service and ambience great. Food OK. Probably would not come back as it was pricey for average quality.

History of Present Indulgence 32 yo M presents with spouse…read moreand friend for pre-comedy show dinner at Italian establishment on 18th Street in Adams Morgan. No reservation and sat comfortably at the bar. Physical Examination Food - This place was absolutely delicious. We started with Arancini and Prosciutto e Polenta. The arancini was fried perfectly - crispy outside, warm risotto inside, and sitting in this savory-sweet tomato sauce that I could've honestly just eaten with a spoon (and basically did using the focaccia they give with your meal - which itself was delicious too). The arancini also has ground beef in the center, which adds to the flavor and depth of what is usually just fried risotto. The polenta fries with paprika aioli were fantastic too. My only complaint is that I wish there were more of the fries because there were only 3 to go along with the large plate of sliced prosciutto. The prosciutto itself was fine. Just standard quality prosciutto. For mains, we went family-style and shared three entrees: the pork ossobuco from the secondi menu, the tagliarini with shredded duck, and the cavatelli with rabbit and fava beans. The ossobuco was cooked well, though I wish the braise flavor went deeper into the pork. The truffle mushroom risotto underneath was incredible. Rich, creamy, and the fresh lemon and parsley gremolata on top cut through all that richness perfectly. The tagliarini was delicious, but my wife and I agreed that the duck flavor was a little lost in the rich marinara sauce. It didn't feel like I was eating duck, to be honest. You could've told me that was shredded short rib, and I might've believed you. The cavatelli was probably my favorite dish - those shell-shaped pasta pieces with rabbit and fava beans in a white wine sauce that had this unique flavor I haven't tasted anywhere else. There's a mild gaminess from the rabbit, but it was very subtle. Each time I had a fava bean, it was a fun change of pace in texture and taste as I was spooning this plate down my throat. It was so so good. Portions were generous too, which made the prices feel totally worth it. We left full and satisfied. My wife had a lambrusco spritz that was deliciously refreshing, and we shared some good wine throughout the meal. No complaints. Service - The bartender was really kind and attentive. Even though we weren't at a table, we didn't feel like we were getting second-tier service or anything. They checked on us regularly, made good recommendations, and kept everything moving smoothly. I also love a service that offers more table bread without needing to be asked. And their table bread was this fragrant focaccia, so I could've eaten all of whatever they brought. Ambiance - haven't been to a ton of Italian restaurants in DC, but I loved the vibe here. Intimate, cozy, dim lighting. The wine selection was great too - enough variety to be interesting without being one of those overwhelming 50-page wine lists. I think this would be a perfect date night spot. Assessment A high-quality Italian restaurant with creative takes on traditional dishes, generous portions, and an intimate atmosphere. A strong contender for the Adams Morgan dining scene, where restaurants are lined up right next to each other, and making a choice can be a bit difficult. Plan - Add to recommended restaurant list for DC visitors - Consider for future date nights or a solo wine and appetizer moment - Return to try more pasta dishes or enjoy a happy hour

We told one of the servers and he said noted, then never came back and it was never addressed. The ossobucco with the risotto rice was extremely undercooked, where we could see the white middles of each grain of rice. The ossobucco itself was delicious though! I reached out on their website to share that we were a bit disappointed as we were there with friends who claim this is one of their favorite Italian restaurants in the DMV, and having multiple bones in a dish is not acceptable. Not coming back and saying something is also unacceptable. No one reaching back out after I emailed them, is equally very unacceptable.

The garlic knot was a fried croissant that cannot be beat. We also ordered sourdough, pasta, chicken (which was massive). Our server Yannik was exceptional. Warm, attentive, knowledgeable, the kind of server who makes a special occasion actually feel special. The moment you walk in, the space wraps around you. Warm wood, soft lighting, an atmosphere that feels intimate without being cramped, the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and stay a while. The team went above and beyond when they learned I don't drink: they gifted us a non-alcoholic wine, a complimentary appetizer, and dessert. That kind of hospitality isn't scripted... it's felt. Now, the food. The housemade sourdough with eucalyptus honey butter is dangerous, I could have stopped there and been happy. The roasted carrot salad with hazelnut dukkah and garlic toum was one of those dishes that makes you rethink a vegetable entirely. The garlic knots had no business being that good... crispy, layered, almost croissant-like, deeply garlicky in the best way. For pasta we had the pappardelle with spicy roasted pork ragù and fennel breadcrumbs, and the canastra cheese ravioli with wild garlic pesto and brazil nut pangrattato, that stunning deep green dish topped with chive blossoms looked like art and tasted even better. Both pastas were perfect. Then the Brazilian budino with coconut caramel and toasted coconut came out with a little candle tucked in. I nearly cried. This is a restaurant that treats every table like it matters. We will absolutely be back.
