My husband and I came here because everything else was busy on a Friday night, and we ended up loving it. Every dish we had was consistently good, and the staff was warm and helpful throughout the night. I ordered a Tito's mule to drink, which was pretty strong (in a good way). We shared the halloumi cheese bruschetta to start. I wish the bread had been a little toastier, but it was still really tasty. For my main, I had the salmon dish and it was soooo good. This restaurant isn't far from work but I have not gone as much as I once did. I wanted to come on and compliment George who's been our waiter for the third time on today's visit. He's phenomenal and very observant. He ensures you have everything you need and has a great memory. Today, I had the chicken kabob for the first time in a while. Mazi is one of our new favorite restaurants in the DMV. Absolutely everything is amazing and top notch. Every drink and every food item is incredible. Espresso martinis: the best. Shrimp tempura: delicious. Honey feta app: unique and different yet amazing. Chilean sea bass: melts in your mouth. We had a party of 8 last night while the restaurant was packed. Chilean Sea bass was cooked perfectly and the flavor was balanced with the spinach, carrots, and rice. The lamb burger was also at the perfect temperature to remain juicy. The cocktails were OK. I stopped in here just after 4 PM . . . I was the only person in the place . . . to the point that I checked to make sure they were open. The man who greeted me (which may have been a host, but I think he was a server) was kind and funny. He said, "Oh, you've come to keep us company!" The restaurant is open and bright, modern fixtures. Greek-leaning food. Starters include honey feta cheese, halloumi cheese bruschetta, lamb cubes, pork belly, calamari, Brussels sprouts. I had the Halloumi cheese at the recommendation of the server. It wasn't bad . . . I think I would have rather had the pork belly. That being said, I'm not sure the server was invested in making good recs, and I think he was recommending popular things, not things he personally liked. I had the NY strip for my entree, with rosemary, garlic butter, roasted potatoes, and veggies. It wasn't great, it wasn't bad. Flavor was lacking. They also serve salmon, chilean sea bass, pork souvlaki, pork chops, pasta, and salads. I had a couple of cocktails, none of which were super memorable or impressive. I would stick with wine here. The main downer for me was the service. I'm pretty sure I got a guy at the end of his shift who was checked out (he spent most of his time in the back watching something on his phone). I don't need a ton of fluffing or attention, but this guy didn't care at all. The server who came on behind him was much nicer. A friend and I had dinner here in 2024 - I'm catching up on reviews. The saganaki appetizer was disappointed. It evoked the feeling of a larger fried mozzarella stick as opposed to a gooey mass of cheese, which is what I'm more accustomed to in that dish. I had the kefte meatballs which were good. My friend had the seafood pasta and seemed to like it. Dessert was chocolate lava cake, which was good. Service was good. Atmosphere was upscale and modern. In January, whilst with my proper friends, we ventured to Mazi. It was EMPTY! However, we had early lunch reservations on a Saturday before Spa Day in the city. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass that was cracked and served that way. Ewwwww! Plating people, plating is Everything! My meal also needed salt or something, a prayer from ancestors??? Not sure but it didn't hit the mark for me. Although I've heard great things about Mazi I just didn't like it. The Cesar also needed salt and pepper. The Ambiance is nice, it was super super quite in there. One patron was at the bar and it was her go to spot. We struck up a conversation, had it not been for her ranting and raving I may have given Mazi a 1 or 2 star review. However, I'll try again for round two to see if my outing was just a one off. Sorry for not having more photos, my proper friends don't Yelp and it would be less than proper to dine with your phone out. Visited Mazi with my family on our trip to Washington DC. Wonderful experience! The restaurant was crowded yet not loud. We started with the bruschetta, and we each had a different meal that everyone raved about and enjoyed. My grilled salmon was flaky and cooked to perfection. The grilled chicken and authentic salad was good but felt chicken lacked flavor I'm used to very flavored Greek chicken). The most disappointing was the drink order. Came here with a friend last night, after work. The place was cozy, with a nice atmosphere. We shared the Saganaki, it wasn't flambed table side like at other Greek places, but was still good. For an entree, I had the sea bass, which came with rice pilaf, I substituted the veggies for mashed potatoes. Everything was very good but I ended up liking the mashed potatoes over the rice. My friend had the salmon with rice and veggies, which she also enjoyed. We each had two drinks each. The menu had a nice variety of decent priced items, to more expensive items. And after a few drinks the tab wasn't cheap, but we very much enjoyed our meals and our drinks. Service was great! read more

THERE IS NO HAPPY HOUR! Despite whatever you read in Yelp or online, we went March 28 during the stated day/hours and it was not happening. They said they stopped it years ago. Dinner was very good. His filet mignon was tender and prepared well. The sauce on the side was not needed - and it lacked flavor. My Halloumi Salad was good. I think it's expensive for what's in it. Beautiful restaurant with some white tablecloths, gorgeous white booths, and a gorgeous bar. Our amazing server was Luis, and he had the perfect timing for drinks, bread, entrees and dessert. I ordered the pappardelle with mushrooms which was delicious! I loved the sauce.
