Siphons is one of my favorite coffee shops EVER!! There's just something about the coffee, and atmosphere that just keeps me coming back for more. Their lattes are great, but my favorite type of coffee is an "Undertow", and they make the best one in Houston. The only downfall is there's hardly any seating, which isn't a bad thing. Parking can be a pain as well since they share parking with another business. I wish they were able to expanse the parking lot, but I understand that's a lot of money to invest in. They are very fast with getting your order out to you, even during a busy rush on a weekend. They are an overall A+ type coffee shop. read more

I can say this is one of my favorite coffee shops in Houston! From the vibes, customer service and the menu, you can go no wrong. I frequent here often and I look forward to my visit every time. I usually order an iced vanilla latte and the meat plate. The latte is good(hot or iced), of course because it's coming from a coffee shop. But I had no idea that the meat plate would be as good as it is. I recommend it, especially because the arugula salad that it comes with is tasty. I would suggest you take a trip to Siphon to chill, eat or just to enjoy a quick latte. read more

Siphon Coffee - Cafes Near Me - Houston, Texas

Coffee was very bland, I ordered the cereal milk latte, I hardly tasted any 'cereal milk'. $5 for an appetizer sized empanada is not it. Place was way too crowded as well. Whatever tables were left were full of crumbs or people just didn't pick up after themselves. Parking is terrible. I was greatly disappointed. :( read more

Considering I've been back to three Saturdays in a row, it's safe to say this is a sweet spot. Spacious, beautiful, with plenty of table space, it's a lovely study spot! I love the floor to ceiling windows, making Siphon a bright and modern space. I have yet to try the signature "siphon" coffee, but my cappuccino was perfect and the cold brew was satisfying. The siphon coffee is quirky and different, but for the price ($7 a cup or $11 for two) is a bit steep for a student. I'll save it for a special occasion. Staff is friendly, crowd is chill, and plenty of cute dogs to play with! read more

This is my second time being here, less crowded than before, perhaps because it's earlier in the day. I like the set up of the interior, it's simple, clean cut, and minimal. It doesn't try too hard to be "hipster" like that other cafe in the EADO area. I finally got my hand on a chai latte, I've been hearing good things about it, apparently they sell out fast in the mornings. Chai latte- it had a light sweet flavor and a nice kick after the initial taste, but I didn't feel to impress by it. It was just alright. read more

Being a lover of all things coffee, tea, wine, and beer; I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered this place. I've been here a few times, last time being tonight- wondering why I don't come here more often. I walked in, and was glad to find it was pretty empty. Maybe it's cause school is out, and only suckers like me are taking classes in the summer, haha jk, who knows, but every other time I've been here it's been pretty busy. So anyway, a really nice girl with awesome purple hair took my order. Everyone is always really nice here!! I'm a sucker for good customer service. I ordered a Chai tea with a coconut macaroon, she asked me if I wanted it for here or to go, and I opted to have it there since I needed to get some homework done. They have really awesome wooden seating, the place is pretty spacious, enough to have a few couches and even a TV in the corner. I sat down and my tea was ready in a few. They even apologized for the wait, but it wasn't bad. I think one of the things I like the most is the presentation of the coffees and teas. The pastries are always great; and I believe they are made in-house. My chai tea was perfection, and paired great with my tasty macaroon. Another thing I really enjoy is the atmosphere, the vibes, the lighting... They have free wifi of course, so it's a good place to get some work done, have coffee, or tea, or WINE, or BEER with your peeps :D I love it here, and I will be back! read more

My absolute favorite coffee shop to visit when I'm in Houston! Parking can be a little tricky because this place is usually packed. Check for free street parking near the shop if the parking lot is full. The siphon coffee method is similar to pour over coffee, producing a light and delicate cup of delicious coffee. The lattes are also delicious and feature in-house syrups. My Achilles heel is baked goods and I can never resist their sea salt chocolate chip cookie, among another delights. They boast a full breakfast/lunch menu too - I've spend entire days camped out here getting work done because the food, drinks, and ambience is so pleasant. read more

I was visiting from out of town and was glad I stopped here. It's a really busy coffee shop, and I can see why. They serve Stumptown, which typically has phenomenal coffee. Seating can be a challenge. You may have to hawk down a table and monitor when folks are finishing up so you can get a good table. Give this place a try. read more

First of all, I love siphon. So if you're questioning if you should give this place a try, yes, please go. I'm writing this review in hopes that siphon would notice that something wrong is going on in the kitchen.. First time I ordered the turkey panini, it was Devine. Wonderful combination of flavors between the pickled onions, pears, turkey, Gruyere and arugula. And then memorable texture between the crispy crust and soft yet chewy inside of the ciabatta bread, and the thinly sliced pears that could easily be broken apart by your incisors... But something has changed in the last few weeks at the kitchen in Siphon. The bread is no longer crispy, but slightly on the stale and chewy side. Slices of pears are now thicker and unevenly distributed. And pickled onions are missing unless the customer knows the menu better than the chef.... I'm sad, Bc the most embarrassing part is, I raved about this place to a friend who hasn't been. I ordered the same sandwich to go for her at one point for her to try, and now she'll never set foot in the cafe, and thinks I'm insane. read more

We waited 30 mins on an $11 siphon for two and banana bread. Because we brought the dog I couldn't really "watch the process and chat" which was the reason I was told people kept "taking" my siphon. It was the soft opening so of course there will be kinks and they were very apologetic, but that's a little ridiculous. The food options they had were more broad than most Montrose coffee shops, but the wait wasn't worth it at all. Hope they get more efficient. read more

Definitely a placed I'd like to spend a Monday afternoon doing homework at. Their chorizo tacos are authentic not to mention their pumpkin lattes are to die for. Would recommend to any college students looking for a chillax place to do homework at. read more

Had the chai latte, AMAZING. But if you are looking to do some work on your laptop, this isn't the place! The wifi connection is not the best and there aren't enough/any electrical outlets!! Great if your computer is fully charged and you're planning on staying here for the allotted time your laptop survives, bad if you are trying to stay here for x amount of hours to get any real work done. Instead, bring a book and/or pen and paper to dig back into your roots. read more

Disappointed. They have an option where they can create a drink based on questions they ask about you. I was asked, "What size drink", "Hot or cold" "To go or here", "Sweet, Semi-sweet, not sweet" and that was it. I chose hot, small, semi-sweet. I should have known then to change my drink but I wanted to see what they would produce. It ended up being an overly sweet white mocha latte. They are more concerned about taking your order and getting it over with. It wasn't even busy and they had plenty of staff! No excuses. read more

I had a salad and a siphon and both were delicious. The place was crowded, but the staff coped well for it's first day open. I foresee a bright future for Siphon. I'm going back for a salad in a little bit. Yummy!!! I haven't found a salad this simple yet delicious on Houston. I also loved the chocolate chip cookies with chunks if sea salt. I may skip the sweets today though! read more

We were looking for a place to eat breakfast in the area and stumbled upon Siphon cafe, we ordered the breakfast panini and a chorizo breakfast taco. The panini was very good and the breakfast taco was average at best, very greasy. This place specializes in siphoned coffee at $7 a cup it is pretty expensive but totally worth it! The coffee tastes completely different, smoother with none of the bitterness I am in the area again I would go back for the coffee but would skip the food. Service was incredibly slow as well read more

Siphon Coffee - Siphoned coffee - totally worth it (^*^) - Cafes Near Me - Houston, Texas

Overall a nice coffee shop. Service is good, atmosphere is nice when not busy (lots of windows, modern/rustic decor); this is probably the best part. I had heard a lot of hype about the chocolate chip cookie and was actually pretty disappointed. The cookie's flavor is amazing (really love the salt flakes -- this is the most unique part), but the texture is severely lacking. This may be one of the hardest/crunchiest cookies I have purchased from a bakery/coffee shop, aside from Luce Ave. If you enjoy hard/crunchy cookies, you will like this, but I feel that most people, including myself, enjoy a softer/moister/gooey-er cookie. It is slightly improved by warming and dipping in a drink, but only marginally. Most recently got the chai latte w/ almond milk and no vanilla syrup added (which is usually part of the drink). Would rate this a 3/5; it was a bit too watery for my liking, would prefer a creamier latte but could be because of the almond milk. Can't really comment on the coffee, so take this review w/ a grain of salt (hehe). Overall would visit again to study, but would not get the cookie unless they change their recipe. read more

I really love this place. I hate that they took away the bench I felt more people were able to study compared to how they have it setup. I really am writing this review because I attend their comedy show they host once a month. Although they could do a better job promoting the event it's still something I would recommend. However they serve this fried platter plate... it's a one spicy note after another. It all taste the same and it's spicy as hell. Don't waste your money buying it.. please siphon do better.. I'm so annoyed with this damn platter I'm at siphon right now waiting for the comedy show to start. It couldn't wait read more

Siphons real strength is that it is the best place to fuel up before beginning a four-hour study session. Of all the food you could get from a coffee shop the bacon is the real standout... I don't know how they make such tasty bacon but they manage it. There's a variety of seating options -- from couches to tables to counter seats -- whatever strikes your fancy. Siphon does get crowded at peak hours, so I'll often start at a couch and then try and snipe a table when one opens. The tables are very conducive to spreading out books, laptops, and food. My biggest gripe with Siphon is that there aren't enough outlets (you can get some at the window seating), but just come prepared with a fully charged laptop. In addition, service can sometimes be slow, but in the end that just means more study time! read more

Pros: Driving in- I noticed the parking lot was nice... maybe important to those worried about their car. Walking in- Organized, and had a good flow of energy. The first thing you notice is what gives this place its name- the siphon. It is very cool... I could watch the process repeatedly. - See for yourself!! As I look around, I see many ppl on their macs. Good WiFi? Seating- Barstool seating for the individual, and plenty of outside seating for 2. FOOD IS GOOD Cons: Pricey. Coffee is so good you'll want more than a cup, but be prepared to fork over $$! - well worth it. Advice: Get here early before the rush, so you can enjoy watching the siphon, and so you can interact with the staff- very nice. read more

I love coming here. The staff is super friendly, the tea and coffee are great. I'm super happy they added a matcha item to the menu. I frequent this place at least 3 to 4 times a week. It's my go-to spot because of the employees that work there. Everyone is fun and friendly. It's genuinely a wonderful experience every time. Now let's talk about the food... WOW! You wouldn't expect a coffee shop to have such amazingly tasty food. Try the Sausage Benedict or Huevos Rancheros, trust me... It's worth the drive. Have come twice now. The mocha latte was pretty good, but with a bit of a bitter taste. The foam is pretty good, but it did not taste much like chocolate. There was no place to sit on our most recent visit just before noon on Sunday. That soured the experience a bit. And as much as I like siphon brewed coffee, I don't like it twice as much as a latte ($9 vs $4). read more

Mid town crowd / Hipsters café I'm intrigued with the uniqueness of the siphon coffee. I went in with the idea that I was going to be hipster and order my coffee from a siphon. However, it's 7$ and well let's be honest who wants to pay that much for coffee. Plus, I'm not a hipster. I felt a little out of place here because I was wearing pearls and a summer dress and didn't bring my Mac or beats by Dre headphones. I proceeded with my usual Americano coffee, this time at least it didn't taste burned. The empanadas are delish! I was surprised that they even had them on the menu. Yum yum yum. My friends ordered a cappuccino and they had cool coffee art on them. The staff is nice. This place fills up quick the architecture admirable along with the modern wood designs of the tables. I will be going back, but I'll remember to bring my Mac and glasses. read more

Siphon Coffee - Here you can see my coffee over flooded and spilled. That was unfortunate maybe ask for space for milk next time. - Cafes Near Me - Houston, Texas

Let's cut the intros and get right to it: Pastries/Paninis - pretty on par. They were very light and fluffy, especially the quiche! Plus, the portion you get is not bad at all. Coffee - tried the Siphon for One and it's alright. Aside from the pretty cool science project nostalgia you feel, it's a decent cup of coffee served from a rounded out boiling flask. The lattes are pretty ordinary as well. Don't get me wrong, they weren't horrible. It just wasn't anything special. Interior - like most coffee spots in HTX, it is way too small for a groups of people to come together and study. BUT the decor is pretty hipster and cute and shit. You know. I do like the outdoor seating as well, but it can get awkward because it's right up against the window where people inside are studying. They are literally facing you as you sit on the outside. Haha I was highly amused by this one guy going HAMF with his studies. Hope you got your A, man. Overall, check it out if you wanna see physics and chemistry being incorporated as your siphon is made. read more

Siphon Coffee - Siphon for one! - Cafes Near Me - Houston, Texas

Every time I come to Houston, I come here first. The atmosphere is great for chatting or working. The coffee is out of this world. I only ever get the Siphon but it's worth it for the volume and flavor. They do a good job of pairing the bean to the method. And you can tell that all the staff care about the coffees the serve and carry. I have no doubt their espresso and drip are equally good. I've had most of the breakfast menu options and enjoy them all. It's definitely pricey for breakfast food but quality sourced ingredients. read more

I don't know why this place has so high reviews. I mean it's a neighborhood gem type of place where you grab a quick coffee but definitely not a place to study for a long time since the place is small compared to how many customers are coming. They have few outdoor seating. They only have limited space where you can comfortably sit at the big table. Most of them are just long wooden tables and chairs are so uncomfortable. The chairs don't have a back so when you study your back will likely hurt. They have wifi, but it is constantly disconnecting. You can charge your electronics at your seat (I guess that's a good one). The coffee is okay, I got the mocha latte. The staffs seem friendly. They have private parking lot and parking has spaces so that's good. However, considering everything, I don't think I will be coming back here. read more

Siphon Coffee - Mocha latte with soy milk - Cafes Near Me - Houston, Texas

Came in on a Wednesday around 11 and it was pretty packed considering that it's the middle of a workday. If it's a really pretty day, I suggest sitting outside in their back patio because it's a super cute area (although the tables outside aren't the cleanest). Make sure you clean up after yourself because it sucks if the person that's trying to take your seat has to clean up after you (the workers don't come out to clean much from what I observed). I tried the (hot) vanilla latte (5/5 stars for me!) - the right amount of foam to liquid ratio, the perfect taste and flavoring (with real vanilla beans I believe), not scolding hot when I got it (yay for not burning my tongue). TLDR - I think it's up there in my top 3 favorite places to get a vanilla latte! Also got the chocolate chip cookie after researching everyone's Yelp reviews and to my disappointment, I didn't like it much (2/5 for me). I'm a gooey-soft cookie person, and the cookie was entirely crunchy. I understand the salted part of the cookie but I'm not a huge fan of it either bc I thought it just made it too salty from not a super sweet tasting cookie (totally just my taste preference!!) read more

But fortunately for everyone they also have very talented baristas serving excellent espresso drinks. Amaya beans for those wondering.
