Loved the vibes and decor. Would be a great place for a quick coffee date with friends or significant others. Menu is big and there are many pastries and lunch items to choose from. I would come back to try the quiche and other specialty lattes! read more

This place is honestly a hit or miss. Coffee is decent, however it's a tad unreliable as they do random pop ups, which is just a mess honestly. The great thing is you'll see LOTS of people on first dates so that's exciting haha. BUT if you're looking for a place to study, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Came in and ordered a few drinks. Fruit loops and rose-cardamom latte. The fruit loop did not taste like fruit loop...a bit sour? The rose-cardamom didn't have trace of those flavors either. The coffee tasted watered down. read more

VERY cool cafe. Spent a few hours here on a rainy day and really enjoyed the vibe. Delicious options and great coffee. (Layout of space is kind of difficult to navigate when busy.) read more

I came here for the first time with my boyfriend. The lady taking orders was so incredibly rude. I asked her if they had a blonde espresso and she replied "This isn't Starbucks" and rolled her eyes. I was SO shocked. I then ordered my drink and the guy next to her behind the counter told me "can you move". There was one other guy behind me that I didn't see come in and he wanted to take their order. These people were SO beyond rude. The coffee was okay but not worth being treated like that! Also, while I walked up to the counter the girl taking orders was talking bad about another costumer to a coworker. read more

The coffee here is amazing. Very very good quality. The people are very nice and accommodating. The only thing I can say negative is that there's not a lot of seating to have a one on one meeting with a coworker or have a discussion that could be semi private. All the seating is very close together so not a whole lot of room for your laptops or even places to charge them. But the coffee is awesome. read more

To Go: This place is amazing. I definitely and will stand by that this is my favorite coffee place in Houston. They need a parking garage, because I think I'm not alone on this thought process. I typically get a dirty chai or a flat white to go, but every barista/cashier I have interacted with is very friendly and will either engage in my outfit or haircut! I really want to try the "Siphon" they have which is a fancy pour-over, I have only heard great things about it. I love the environment on sunny, rainy, or cold days. I really enjoy the atmosphere and love the home vibe they have perfected. I totally recommend and their food is not half bad either! read more

Ok first, their coffee is a solid 9/10... love it!! And specially their oatmilk cereal milk lattes but second, their breakfast tacos are the BESTTT... and HUGE! one is all you need and pair with the green creamy spicy salsa. It's so good. It's a little hard to find a spot sometimes but overall a good vibe and such a great coffee/breakfast shop!! read more

They literally stare at the screen when you pay to see if you leave a tip. Every single time! What kind of weird intimidation tactic is this?! To Siphon- You already overcharge for coffee (which I admit is decent), so pay your workers a living wage so they don't have to be creepy. read more

Their Drip Coffee is very good. Breakfast was nothing to write russia about. Nice coffee shop and spot.

I came here to get some studying done and got lucky with parking. It was so busy and there was a little line at the register. The cashier was friendly, but she was rushed. There were so many people there doing some kind of work. All the tables were filled. I ordered a CHAI LATTE and the presentation was beautiful. I love the art and the spice. The chai is house made, which is interesting because it's a new take on flavor. The consistency was thin and light. It was smooth, but it was too light in chai. There was a bit too much sweetness. It's not the best chai I've had, but it's definitely not the worst. I do like the ambiance and atmosphere and I wouldn't mind coming here again to get some work done, but it's probably best to go when it's not too busy. I really want to try their food items and perhaps give the chai another go. read more

Super cute quiet cafe. The place is small and cozy. Has nice small patio outside as well. Great if you need a place to come study or hang out and have a cup of coffee. The vanilla latte is delicious! If you are looking for a public place to meet, engage in conversation, or a place to study this is a great place. Siphon has an inviting atmosphere conducive to catching up with friends or small groups or if you are looking to study or read. The coffee is great. They have lounge chairs, counter-height seating against the windows, or tables located throughout or even outside. Free WiFi is available! Parking is limited and sometimes seating as wee, as this seems to be a popular place. I'm glad I was able to experience it. The baristas are pretty cool too! read more

I came here for the sole purpose of studying, so your experience might completely differ if you are not. I'll list my concerns below: 1. Caramel Latte- the rich and strong flavors kept me well energized, but the sweetness and temperature made it impossible to finish. I usually order kids temp, so you can only imagine how lukewarm this cup was. 2. Ham and Provolone Croissant- it was a lot better than I expected. The croissant was flakey and butter, which made for the perfect snack. 3. Parking- horrifying. You most certainly will not find any parking in the shopping strip, so chances are you'll have to circle around to find street parking. 4. Seating- there are only about six tables in the back suitable for studying, so catch them while you can. Otherwise, you'll have to settle for high countertop seating or low tables. There are plenty of outlets and natural lighting, so I'll give them that. 5. Ambiance & Interior- the decorations are really hip with leather chairs and cool light fixtures. The huge windows brighten up the entire place making it very aesthetically pleasing. The people are... well let's just say "Montrose". I, personally, would not visit again to study but I can definitely see why it is such a popular place to sit and have a cup of coffee with a friend. read more

Wonderful atmosphere . Staff is amazing. And the food was delicious.. they was really quick

All factors considered, this is my favorite coffee shop in Houston. Phenomenal coffee, great pastries & entrees, and an awesome vibe. I love coming here to study, read, catch up with friends, or for a quick breakfast. I'm a bit of a coffee purist, so my go-to's are the traditional macchiato (which comes with a little cup of sparkling water), the americano, and the cappuccino. And they offer oat milk, which is awesome. I've gotten their titular Siphon to share just a couple of times (because the size & price makes it hard for me to justify buying it just for myself) which was a fun experience. The barista walked me through how the apparatus worked as my coffee was *siphon-ing* and also took the time to describe the tasting notes of the particular roast. I love how this whole experience elevated sipping coffee to the level of wine tasting. In terms of food, I basically always go for the breakfast taco (with avocado). Their eggs are cooked beautifully & I love their fresh tomatillo salsa that's prepared in-house. Seriously, I dream of that stuff. All in all, Siphon gets an A+ in my book. The only item in the "con" column is how busy it can get, especially during weekday mornings and basically all of the weekend. But hey, you can't blame Siphon for being popular. It's a bomb-ass coffee shop whose biggest weakness is that all of Houston knows it. read more

This place is the CYOOTEST! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The cranberry muffin I ate had a beautiful taste and texture. It was like it was made fresh that morning. The Chai Almond Milk Latte was frothy and flavorful. My favorite part was sitting out on the adorable back patio enjoying the cool breeze and a sitcom on Netflix. It was a great little moment to take for myself in the midst of a hectic week. Thank you Siphon. read more

Siphon has THE BEST customer service! I placed a large delivery order through their website, which is linked to Toast and DoorDash. Siphon Coffee - Black and white cookie and mocha latte - Cafes Near Me - Houston, Texas

Siphon is another one of my go-to spots for coffee/tea, meetings, co-working or just a laid back bite on a Saturday morning. I usually sit back and indulge in one of their herbal teas, but on the few occasions I ordered a chai latte, I was content. Not only do they have a small menu of panino, salads, and even breakfast tacos, they offer desserts prepared by Fluff Bake Bar. Sweeeet. The main draw for some is their coffee prepped and served in a Siphon, but for me, I'm all about the complimentary (and working!) wifi, a front and back patio, dog-friendly outside seating, sweets, a food menu, friendly/quick service, and clientele - it's much more "grown up" than some other area coffee shops, which I like. And there's no Montrose emo vibe whatsoever. I dig. Parking or finding a seat inside is oftentimes an issue, as I'm not the only person who loves Siphon, but folks are constantly coming and going so you'll eventually find a place to sit. And don't get turned off by the long line if that's what you encounter; it moves fast. read more

Was looking for a quick coffee and egg breakfast sandwich. This place is a bit too hipster for me but if you're in to overpriced mediocre coffee, you might like it. I did like the decor of the cafe. I was "greeted" by a not so pleasant woman who quickly cut myself and my boyfriend off multiple times while trying to complete our order. The patrons weren't much better with multiple people taking up two chairs with their feet / laptop bag / etc. for no reason. Leaving us with nowhere to sit. Breakfast panini with egg and gruyere was decent though. read more

Vibe was perfect - the outdoor patio is a charming and intimate garden-like space with fun and upbeat music. The coffeeshop was reminiscent of an austin hangout. They have alcoholic options and a large menu of beverages to choose from. In our experience on a busy Saturday morning, the staff was overwhelmed for the volume of customers and service was affected subsequently. The wait for a couple of lattes was around 15 minutes. The coffee was remarkable and definitely among the best in the city. The quiche came out cold, and we had to request another zap in the toaster-oven. In the end, the pastry was satisfying and we would return, maybe on a less busy morning. read more

I've become quite the regular here in recent weeks, and I think I can safely say that this has become my new go-to coffee shop in Houston. Although I must admit I am guilty of having not tried one of their signature siphon coffees (a form of brewing coffee that utilizes differences in atmospheric pressure to facilitate the brewing process in a 2-chamber glass vessel), they've nailed it on all other aspects thus far. I'll keep it short an sweet from here. The team of baristas at Siphon are personable and quick, and provide all-around great service. Between the coffee and the food, this place serves a quality product all-around. For a quick bite, I personally recommend their empanadas, which, although they show up on the breakfast menu, are served at all times throughout the day. Lastly, from a practical standpoint, Siphon is everything you'd want in a functional coffee joint. There's and energetic vibe without it being too loud, and a variety of seating arrangements whether you're coming to catch-up with a group of friends or solo to get some work done. The interwebs there are fast, and plenty of outlets are available so you don't run out of juice! Just be careful if you're planning to head there on a Monday evening to get work done...although they have Monday Night Football on in the corner (a huge plus), they have to move all of their patrons outside around 8:30 for weekly maintenance to the sitting are (a huge bummer). read more

I am pretty picky about cold brew coffees and Siphon Coffee knows how to do it right. I was not impressed with coffee shop near my AirBNB during my stay in Houston and saw Siphon Coffee opened a mile down the road. This is a brand spanking new coffee shop with nice open modern feel. The decor is exposed wood and handsome leather chairs. The flow of the coffee shop works perfectly preventing a cluster you know what that happens at some places. While the cool siphon coffee and its fancy contraption is the star of the show, it is much more than just a coffee shop. They also pour beer and wine on tap and have a decent food menu with items to pair well with all of their drinks (coffee, tea, wine or beer). Display cases at the front counter had savory empanadas and various cheeses. I was unable to try the siphon coffee (it takes several minutes to prepare and meant to drink immediately after). I did order Jesse a coffee and myself a cold brew and Topo Chico to go. Service was friendly and the touch screen checkout was quick and efficient. They also have outdoor seating but forgot to ask if they are pet friendly. read more

What a place - I'd like to say that it is a hidden gem among coffee shops in the area, but I'd be lying; it seems like everyone else knows how great it is too, and this place is always packed to the brim with customers. But the baristas are super friendly - great in customer service! Try the herbal iced tea if you dont need that caffeine kick, or go for the daily drip coffee. Seating is limited, as is the parking, so if you really need to do work, this might not be the best to camp. It's much more open during late hours, such as after dinner. If you manage to get a seat near a plug, then you've made it people!! Highly recommend read more

We went here after lunch with a friend. It's a normal sized coffee shop with some delicious pastries. If I wasn't already full, I would've bought a kolache. I got a hot vanilla latte. They did the cute design (no picture available) on top. We managed to find seating but since it was raining, spots were tight because no one sat in the outdoor seating. The atmosphere is rustic like and chill. People were either socializing or doing some type of work. It is a family friendly atmosphere. Only con would be the parking. The lot in front is small so you have to parallel park in an residential area. read more

Siphon is where I go to get coffee when I want to pretend that I'm not a broke college student who should be watching how much they spend. Tucked into a nice little shopping center on West Alabama, Siphon looks pretty much like you'd expect an artisanal coffee shop in this part of town to look. The decor is all reclaimed-style wood and coffee-making machinery being used as decorations. It's quite charming if you're into the nouveau riche hipster aesthetic (which I, perhaps sadly, am). While Siphon clearly wants to be a place where people can come and work, in my opinion, this desire is slightly hampered by the fact that their store is small and quite popular. i've come here with the intention to work before, but it's usually too hard to find anywhere to sit (a lot of the seating also isn't especially comfortable either). That's enough about the space itself though. The important thing about a coffee shop is, at the end of the day, the coffee. I will be the first to say that Siphon does have good coffee. It's good in an indistinct way (as in, I can't really explain to you *why* it's good) but it tastes great and it puts caffeine in your veins, so I'm not complaining. Actually, I'm pretty partial to their Chai latte, which is wonderfully milky and redolent with cinnamon and other spices. Their drinks are a bit on the pricey side though (with tax, an iced coffee will put you back $4, which can be a little hard for me to justify on a day-to-day basis). As for the food, I haven't tried a great deal of it, but it all looks good. I've tried the cheddar and green onion scone, which is a nice light lunch though it's also a bit pricey. The variety of cookies and pastries they have behind the counter all look absolutely delicious and I've never heard anyone complain about one of them. Their staff is also great. They're almost always incredibly friendly and attentive, even when the store is busy. On one occasion, I'd forgotten to ask for my Chai latte iced, and the barista made me a hot one. When I asked if I could get an iced one (or just some ice to pour my hot one over), the barista said they'd make me a brand new one on ice for no charge AND I could keep the hot once, since they would have to just throw it out anyways. That's the kind of laissez-faire attitude I love seeing in these sort of roles. read more

Many things can siphon cash from your bank account including trendy clothing, new gadgets, women, and an addiction to coffee. I have written about my coffee escapades using Yelp as my therapist. Although I love anything-espresso, these little brown beans have pinched my pennies and I don't see it stopping any time soon. Siphon Coffee uses a different method for brewing a cup of coffee. SCIENCE, y'all. I'm not sure if it was the novel process of something I didn't know existed but I was definitely mesmerized by the glow of the heat lamp and the bubbles in the boiling water. The end product was a tantalizing black liquid. However, like oil, the price might be a little steep for the amount of coffee you get. I've had inconsistent lattes here and that is the difference between 3 and 4 stars. I believe they make their pastries fresh daily. The empanadas were a savory surprise. They also offer a few select wine and beers. It can get pretty loud here in the evening, so studying should be done elsewhere. The wifi connection has been spotty at times. read more
