Lovely Korean café in Chinatown! After trying the hype of salt bread in Korea, this was a pleasant find in Vancouver. Salt bread is like a savory dinner roll/croissant. I liked the variety of flavors available and around noon 3 flavors were already sold out. I tried the street potato latte and plain salt bread. The salt bread is on the buttery/salty side but not overwhelmingly so. The latte wasn't too sweet and a nice drink for the cold weather.

Walked by this super cute shop and decided to try it out. The breads are amazing, super fluffy texture and tons of flavor. The melon bread adds a melon kick over the plain bread and was our favorite. The drinks are excellent and are a great addition. Remarkably friendly staff too!

Stumbled into Sio bread on our way back from China town and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the salt breads coming out of this little shop. We ordered the maple butter, melon and the original salt bread. All three were delicious and had their own distinct flavors that did didn't disappoint. They even offer to heat them up for you if you plan to eat them right away. I will definitely be back for more salt bread.

First korean japanese salted bread in Vancouver. I've been eyeing this place. We ordered almost one of everything lol ... Nutella Tamago Sio bread Melon Mocha Each bun was individually wrapped. I like that way. Seating: good amount of indoor seating Parking: street parking Such nice people. They also have drinks you can try.

So glad to have stumbled upon this business while in the neighborhood. I'm a sucker for a good bakery and the pastries here had me intrigued.  First off, the place is super cute inside. Great vibes. Smiley and welcoming employee happily took our order. It was tough to pick a pastry. We chose just the melon since we weren't super hungry but after one bite of it, I was like we need to try more and went back and ordered the Earl Grey so we could also try one of the pastries with filling. I enjoyed both! The melon pastry for its unctuous topping. That bite was superb and really made the pastry. Reminiscent of a melon pan from Japan! The earl grey sio bread was softer and I didn't enjoy it quite as much since it didn't have the crumbly topping like on the melon bread but the Earl Grey filling lived up to its name. Strong tea flavor but wasn't overpowering or cloying. Can't have pastries without coffee so I ordered what seemed to be their signature drink, the cream coffee. Drink had a good balance of creaminess paired with a strong coffee flavor. Delish!  They also randomly sell more savory options like poke bowls or a hot dog in their bread which given the quality of everything I tried I bet would also be tasty!

Brings back memories of Japan pastries. That is how I felt biting down into a Moka bun at Sio - light and yet chewy, just like the Melon Pans in Asakusa. A hint of salt perfectly complements the coffee crust exterior. It was delicious. If it was in another location I could become a regular!

Glad to see another new cafe in the downtown area. The staff was friendly and was able to describe what the difference was between their cream coffee and latte. I recommend the cream coffee. It was one the best coffees I've had recently. Nice to see that there were a bunch of tables and a little Japanese type of decor. They have lots of flavours of sio (salt) bread and the one I got (which was filled with nutella) was delicious. Additionally, they offer kaisendon (Japanese rice bowls with seafood) and poke too!!

the plan was to visit an uji matcha spot from kyoto, but when it wasn't open, i wandered around chinatown, nostalgic of the days when i visited chinatown with my mom on her weekly grocery runs and stumbled upon sio. this tiny shop specializes in japanese inspired shio breads, those delicious buttery, salty bread rolls, alongside poke bowls, kaisen dons, and gyu don. the space is minimal and bright, with cool geometric tile accents on the counter and a stylish wood and concrete wall feature. there's some casual seating tucked into a corner, plus a couple of cheerful coral string chairs with a small black table that make for a cute waiting area. the menu isn't huge but thoughtfully curated. i spotted the matcha cream latte on their limited board, a solid consolation for missing my original plan. smooth and refreshing, with a delicate balance of earthy matcha and the natural sweetness of oat milk. the flavour is mellow and creamy, with subtle grassy notes softened by the nuttiness of oat milk. and it was only $5.50, i paid extra for the oat milk. definitely a neat spot to try those flaky sio breads if you love japanese bakery vibes or want a quick casual meal with some fresh poke or seafood rice bowls. perfect for a chill solo stop or a low key catch up with a friend while exploring chinatown's food scene.

I visited Shio bakery which offer their signature item Shio bread. This bread was now in trend , it looks very simple, but, so buttery and chewy soft texture. Very addictive item. What I got Signature shio bread, Shio Melon, Tamago shio bread, Shio jambon and tamago. Except Shio Melon, the base breads are all the same. Bread itself was great. The bottom part was crispy with butter, and texture was so soft and chewy, just perfect. Tamago and Jambon were good accent. My favorite was Shio Melon!! Sweet dough was covered on the top of Shio bread, Sweet and Savory combination. Definitly highly recommended. Overall, I am very satisfied with their products. I will revisit to try new item!

Located in the Chinatown neighbourhood, I love how Sio Breads open on the later side (7pm) compared to other cafes and bakeries. It wasn't too busy when I stopped by an there was plenty of seating inside. I got their speical beverage (sio cream coffee) and quite enjoyed it and found that the cream wasn't too sweet. I tried two of the sio breads - melon, matcha cream, and strawberry cream and thought both were quite good. I did wish the bread was just a tidge on the softer side. Overall, would recommend coming here.

i'm from LA and have been to korea to try salt bread so i've had my fair share on how a perfect salt bread should taste like. this was pretty up there! and honestly, so much better than the biggest salt bread bakery here in LA. i was surprised by the texture and could tell the owners/bakers here know what salt bread is. smooth buttery flavor + texture and the cream ones were also not too sweet. they were also very kind!! we told them we were visiting and gave us 2 free breads :) i hope many people come visit this place more often!!

Such a cute cafe! I love their salt breads because they are so airy and fluffy. Mocha is my favourite.

Although we didn't find a place to sit, given how much people love this place, we happily enjoyed our food in the seating area overlooking the Canada place, few others joined us there too! It was our cute lil party!

I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

It was a huge hit with everyone! The 6 inch cake was $69 and I added a customized birthday message on chocolate for an extra $3 which was a nice personal touch. They also offer a gluten free option for an additional $10 which is great for accommodating different dietary needs. One thing to keep in mind is that you'll want to order online well in advance because their cakes sell out quickly. I can definitely see why. They're fantastic! I'll be ordering from Gary's Patisserie again for future celebrations.

Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. When we went, they had a BOGO deal with the mango cake jars. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.

At least you can do is reply back and apologize? For wasting time when I specifically told you it's for family and friends flying into town for a funeral burial. Will never use their business again. I highly suggest Mello. They replied and helped me out last minute. Shame on you! Learn how to run a business and treat customers esp previous customers who were supporting the business and fellow Krn but it's clear the new owner doesn't care about the customer or quality it's all about quantity. Maybe my 39 donuts which I offered to pay extra for time and packaging wasn't large enough but money is money. Especially during this time and economy. You should've at least replied back and even tried asking us to do pickup as the restaurant is down the road. Do better!
