I've been to Silver Diner in McLean and I thought I'd try this location in Reston too. Does it measure up? Well, at the Reston location, I didn't overhear any conversations where an ambassador from West Africa was trying to contact one of the senators about a trade deal but in all other respects, I think it measures up. For breakfast, the pricing seems a bit on the high side (although it could be normal for the DC area) but you do get a hearty portion of food and it does look nicely prepared. Service was about what I would expect at any diner, polite and attentive. Silver Diner sits in a lot of its own. I thought parking was just around the restaurant at first but I noticed that the parking area next to it also has some parking spaces marked for Silver Diner, so those should be more than enough. read more

I knew i needed some god food but I didn't want to resort to Wendy's or Popeyes... so I found out there was a Silver Diner nearby and I knew I needed to go there. But I wasn't expecting to be this good. To start I must say the new menu that they have the big revamp is AMAZING. For years I would avoid silver diner as they didn't have many good options for me. Now if your a vegan or on a gf diet there is even options for you on their menu. Or if you want something under 600 calories. The service was the best service I have seen at a restaurant in YEARS! The staff all communicated with each other during a busy rush and did a AMAZING job! We didn't have just one waiter but multiple staff asking us how the food was and would help if needed. I can't believe the food. I have been to other silver diner locations but this one has the best presentation. My banana stuffed French toast was stuffed full of bananas. These guys don't skimp! It's best to mention their new flat iron steak was unbelievable. Please order it! I have been t expansive steakhouse restaurants and their flat iron steak came close to the taste of a pricey steakhouse. It's best to mention how affordable they are too. For a meal out the cost was reasonable and fair. I want to mention to not order the regular ice tea. They told me that they fit serve ice tea it's just regular tea with ice. Instead I replaced it with peach ice tea which was delicious! Also the break add ons I got a breakfast sausage for $3 you just get 2 tiny pieces so I wouldn't order that again. Side order of fries were delicious! Biscuits were also extremely good I mean Popeyes biscuits are good but silver diner has biscuits that are out of this world! It's also important to mention how clean the place was. All the tables were clean and the bathroom was squeaky shinny clean! I just can't wait to go back! A planned stop on an HS trip with my daughter. We had to order off a limited menu prior to arrival but everything we had was delicious. However, I would've loved to try more, their menu and so many choices that sounded amazing. Nor one complaint about our chicken tenders, turkey club, French toast or burgers. The Silver Diner has been one of my "go to" restaurants for a while now because they usually have a vegan option or two. However, they have REALLY stepped up their game! The vegan options are now well thought out, delicious and filling meals rather than just an afterthought. The new Just Egg Benedict is right on par with some of the best vegan only restaurants I've enjoyed on the west coast and in Australia. With Silver Diner's new menu, I can eat plant-based and cruelty free for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I can eat light "healthy" veggie heavy meals or have a burger, fries, and a dairy free shake. Thank you Silver Diner for adding these choices on your menu! May meat eaters give them a chance and see that food can be delicious without harming animals. Holy salt bomb! I ordered the summertime cod, and while the elements of the dish were good, it was so salty that it was just plain unenjoyable. Since the cod dish is under 600 calories, the menu provides nutritional information (which irks me to no end ... why only provide nutrition for "healthy" dishes and not everything?!?). Curious what the sodium content for the summertime cod was, I went to the menu and sure enough their nutrition info doesn't include sodium (or sugar). I don't think it's a coincidence! I've had other good things here, but most are traditional breakfast foods like pancakes and eggs. Good food, good and quick service! Came in for brunch on a busy Sunday morning. Parking lot was full but we were told we'd be seated in less than ten minutes and it was literally a minute or two. Our waiter was right on the ball, and got everything quickly and got our order out to us quickly. I had a combination of chocolate chip pancakes, eggs and bacon. Everything was hot cooked to my specification and just very tasty. I think from sitting down to ordering to eating and paying the bill we were out within 45 minutes, which is super quick. Breakfast all day is a huge plus and that's usually what I'm going for when I visit Silver Diner. Also, If you are gluten free they have a lot of gluten-free entrees on their breakfast menu and I believe on their menu at other times of the day. There are not a lot of pure breakfast restaurants in Reston and you should check out Silver Diner when you're looking for good breakfast food at reasonable prices where you can usually get seated quickly. My wife and I were here earlier today. It was not a good experience. We've been coming here for the last 18 years. Worst experience we've ever had at this location. We sat there for about 5 minutes before anybody greeted us. It's Sunday no problem. However, I did see her chatting away with 2 other tables while we sat there waiting to be greeted. She wasn't unfriendly when she got to us but rather quiet. While waiting for her to talk to us we kept getting a banging behind us. The door to the outside seating kept slamming. We sat there for almost 30 minutes waiting for food. With the door banging and shaking of the table going on. At the very least they could have asked us if the table was OK and brought the banging to our attention. They didn't. To be fair we didn't say anything either after hearing and feeling it. However it is why after about half way done with our meal we left and got containers for our food. When we did get our meals half of my wife's didn't come and they missed the drink I ordered to come with the meal. Over all not a great experience for us. From now on we'll order from door dash. I get busy. They weren't crazy busy. There was a bus boy who walked by us at least half a dozen times doing absolutely nothing. Again it'll be a while before we eat at the restaraunt again. read more

I've been here many times. 4 stars instead of 5 because while the food is pretty good, it's not AMAZING, and the prices are pretty steep. I love the hibiscus soy mango milkshake (vegan!). Get this - Silver Diner also has a frequent diners club - you can bet your butt I'm a card-holding member! So what's the deal with Silver Diner? A healthy diner? Fresh, local food? Gadzooks! It's shockingly good. And how novel to go to a diner and walk out feeling the same as when you walked in, not like you're about to heave a heart attack. I usually order breakfast food - the caramel French toast is AMAZING. Definitely my favorite, even though they charge so much extra if you want strawberries on it. The omelettes are really good too. As for drinks, go with the mimosa (it has fresh strawberries), or a milkshake if you're not concerned about your waistline. As for the service, it has always been so friendly. But we noticed that there's a new menu and -- OMG. This is not the same Silver Diner. If you're like me and previously found this restaurant to be kind of 'meh,' I urge you to give it another chance. Not only has Silver Diner partnered with tons of local farms to bring you a wonderful flexitarian menu, but also they've created fresh, delicious and amazingly interesting dishes. I went for breakfast and couldn't resist trying the bison huevos rancheros. That's right. Ground bison hash with rice and black beans, peppers and onion, two eggs cooked juuuust right, cilantro and a great, fresh avocado dollop. Paired with flax seed tortilla wedges! The only downside to the visit was that they didn't put a carafe on the table even though everyone was drinking coffee like there's no tomorrow. But the service overall was good, and this is absolutely five-star food. I'm impressed. This is exactly the kind of turnaround I never expected a chain of diners to make, but they pulled it off. read more

I came in here blind - meaning I hadn't done any research or checked it out on Yelp before going in for a meal, and I'm rather surprised to see the so-so ratings now that I'm back home. I walked out of the Silver Diner today composing a 5-star review in my mind, and I try hard not to give out 5-star ratings very often. The atmosphere was a typical old-fashioned diner with mini-juke boxes on each table. However, I thought it was cleaner and a nicer quality atmosphere than your average diner. The service was prompt, friendly, and professional. No complaints about the service - our waitress did a great job and made us feel like she was genuinely glad to have us there. The food was simply awesome. I LOVE restaurants that operate using fresh local produce. They had old-fashioned milk shakes. I had the seasonal flavor of the day that was blueberry AND peach, with just GOBS of blueberries and peaches in it, and it was delicious. They have your standard burgers and fries type of fair, but then they also have an AWESOME breakfast menu and a lot of healthy options, too. We tremendously enjoyed our lunch here at the Silver Diner today, and I'm so glad I didn't check the Yelp reviews before we went. We were just driving by and decided it looked like a nice place to stop. Plus, the parking lot was mostly full, so we figured that was a good sign of a good restaurant. Even though it was busy, there was no wait for a table and our service was very prompt. This is a new bright shining star on the map for me. The menu is more health conscious with nutritional info and has that "fresh ingredient" appeal to it. Their breakfast is always avail; also has milkshakes which are my favorite. Definitely has made improvements since my college days although they should be open later than midnight for a diner. They did have lots of farm to table type stuff on the menu, but more of it was lunch/dinner type things, so I did not try them at breakfast. Overall the place was decent, very busy, but well run. I had a chopped salad which was probably a mistake. The lettuce was clearly not fresh and local, it tasted like it came out of a giant bag in the fridge. Our first visit was great so we decided to come back here for breakfast everyday during our stay. The quality never disappointed. The food was great for both of us. Good coffee and friendly service. At first I have to say I was a bit skeptical, especially because some of my favorite items such as the Maryland crab entrees were no longer available, but considering that those items were more fattening and I'm on a diet, it didn't really bother me. Nevertheless they do lose a star because the menu change, which makes them seem more like a TGI Friday's or Chilis as opposed to a real traditional diner like it was when I last visited a couple months ago. We wouldn't be able to get there at that time, but 8, so I called again, and the manager answered the phone. As I explained the situation( just as a courtesy because of the very good previous phone call I had the) the manager, Maliska or whatever it is her name, was very rude repeating what I already new, that they didnt take any reservations.
