This is my go to place when I'm at BWI. Silver Diners are great for having veg options so I love that this is a casual place to sit and get a bite to eat and something to drink. The food isn't always the most fresh but hey, we're in an airport. I've only had great service here. When I walked in yesterday and said I just wanted to sit at the bar another patron said "good luck" as he was asking the host to speak to a manager. I prepared myself for potentially having bad/no service but quite the opposite - Amber at the bar was excellent. Super quick and attentive. Absolutely no complaints here. read more

The young lady that helped us was quite nice--wish the receipt had her actual name on it--offering suggestions and explaining what she could and could not have heated up for us. She even gave us a couple of cups with water, which we didn't even ask for, she offered! The Silver Diner had been my favorite airport restaurant of all airports prior to the pandemic. They had farm to table entrees which were prepared fresh. I was fine with 2-2.5 hours between flights because I would enjoy such an exceptional meal. That has all changed and food options that were once there are gone. Now it is like most other airport restaurants, the food comes out quickly and is of low quality and over priced. The service is still exceptional and the decor is cool. I now opt for one of the fast food restaurants if I am hungry during my layover. Please Silver Diner, bring back the fantastic food you once offered. read more

This location at BWI is SLEPT on in the hustle and bustle of airport food options. NO WAIT - then a nice sit down booth so I could take a work call, a super chill and friendly waiter who didn't mind my AirPods being in (thank you for that!), and a delicious low cal, filling and delicious healthy lunch. The waiter also told me that they serve the cheapest drinks in the whole airport! Unconfirmed as I was there for lunch and didn't imbibe. But I wouldn't be surprised! read more

Upon arrival, no one was at the host station. We had about an hour before our flight started to board, so we weren't in a great hurry, but we wanted to be sure we were on time. Five minutes, nobody coming to the host station. Two employees just shooting the breeze with each other and laughing and whatever at the station just about 15-20 feet in and to the left behind what looked like a dessert case (before one gets to the bar). 10 minutes, still nobody attending to the host station and the line is growing behind us. I finally SHOUTED "HEY, Y'ALL! IS ANYBODY GOING TO COME TO THE HOST STATION TO SEAT US OR TAKE OUR NAMES?" It was a bit loud. That got someone's attention. The sandwiches and fries here are pretty good and portions are abundant. The service, on the other hand, I'm not so sure about. Servers were arguing about who had what section and who was going to be our server. One gentleman kept pawning off his tables to the server who took us. My bride and I looked at each other like - doesn't this guy want to make some tip money? The gal who kept accepting those tables was certainly benefitting from it. The table was not very clean, in fact it stained my wife's arm and sleeve of her shirt, just a greyish - almost ashy color probably from the binding around edge the table. As far as ambiance?? Well it's a Silver Diner in an airport. It's okay- it looks a lot like other Silver Diner restaurants, but a little darker because it's not outside or independent of its surroundings. At the end of the day, it's a better choice than many of the other options at BWI assuming one has the time to sit down and enjoy a meal between flights. The service was spotty at best - flagging down a member of the wait staff to get a beverage was a bit of a challenge. Terrible experience..I consumed a cheese steak and strong island drink at the BWI airport location on 1/28/26...I got sick soon after eating and leaving the restaurant, got dizzy and felt very nauseous, made it to the men's bathroom close by where threw up constantly and even passed out! The ambulance was called and I was rushed to St Agnes hospital where I stayed from the 28th to Feb 1st! I was diagnosed with Acute Gastroenteritis!!! ( Salmonella, E Coli) Food poisoning ..which spreads thru contaminated food/water!!! Very painful experience. Not only will I never eat here again , but this makes me afraid to dine anywhere , anytime soon read more

As a patron that grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland (Now residing in Florida) who studied Hospitality Management for my education plus spent years eating at the various Silver Diner locations in the DMV, by far, the BWI location had far less superb service. I had 3 minutes to kill because my flight was delayed and I've never tried the Silver Diner location in BWI. Service and quality assurance was unconscionably slow and unenthusiastic. The hostess said I was probably would get faster service at the bar although she mentioned I was kinda of cutting close (all I wanted was the Kickin' Crab Soup). Once I sat at the bar, I was semi hydrated and need water... It took 5 minutes before the employee working the bar attended to me to take my order. She received assistance from another young gentleman who noticed that I arrived and he actually proceeded to take my order, but transferred my service back to the employee. I assumed she saw me sitting at the bar and brought water for the other guests at the bar, but didn't bring me a glass. The other employee that was planning to take my order pre-warned her that I was ready to order. When she came, I quickly placed my order which came out fairly quick, but she waited to give me a glass of water with my soup at the same time. Anywho, I ate my soup and drank my water, but she didn't bother to stick around to refill the glass. After 10 minutes, she returned and I asked for the check and settled the bill. Then proceeded to leave and thought, order a milkshake on the way out. I stopped by the counter and ordered the milkshake which took 6 minutes to make when there were any customers ahead of me. I thought, why is this taking so long to prepare. The young lady gave me the milkshake, but she barely blended the milk shake because I couldn't even suck the beverage out of the straw because it texture was still thick. There is a lot of good going on here. Service was very good. It was not a min of waiting until we were seated and drinks came out couple min later. Wife got a Bloody Mary and approved! I had the steak and eggs. We also had crab cake sandwich and a burger at the table. Crab cake was mostly crab - very little filler. Old bay fries are a must try (this is MD after all). Only criticisms are really nit picking. My steak was a bit under done. Not dangerous just a bit rare. Most of my steak plate was just warm. Not hot. Fries w burger were the same. For those in the north east , you will not call this a "diner". Cheese fries and gravy are not on the menu. Also menu is 4 pages. Not 40. Do I recommend? Yes. Would I come back? Yup. When traveling through BWI on an early AM, I try to take advantage of having a sit-down breakfast. Silver adiner- BWI is always ready to serve hungry customers. Hostess are great, but usually running around a bit, so you may have to wait a few minutes. Bar staff is great, but if there is only one present, you may be waiting a while on ordering and closing out. The ambiance is casual. The food quality is what you expect from a Silver Diner. Whilst traveling, a group of thought this looked like a promising meal between flights. It took 10 minutes to get a server, and ten more to get drinks, despite the three of us being being 30 percent of the whole restaurant customer base. Our server's outfit was filthy, stained, and he was generally a slob. We had grilled cheese, and another person ordered a cheeseburger. It was predictably slower than mud, and the food was beyond awful. Everyone of us commented that it had no flavor, and was cold. Halfway through the meal we began watching a mouse run back and forth and pick up crumbs off the filthy floor. When I got home, I let out some mouse farts. read more

Outstanding service, delicious and yummy food!!! It's really hard to find delicious food at an airport and to our surprise the ENTIRE experience at this restaurant was fantastic. So many dishes to choose from and great menu, the service is impeccable, our server was funny, professional and very attentive. I ordered the Mediterranean salad with grilled chicken, and every ingredient tasted fresh. The chicken was tasty and had tons of flavor. Everyone on my party really liked their dishes and all of them spoke highly about them. Compliments to the chef for all the great food. Good meal, reasonable price, great wait staff Michael (been there 8 years). He highly recommended the crab cakes, they're made fresh daily with Maryland crabs. Hubby ordered them and really liked them. I got the Bison burger with the guac, salsa, cheese & bacon - so delicious! The fries were good but not hot (not cold, but not really warm either). Appreciate that their brand of ketchup does not have high fructose corn syrup. We love diners and will definitely eat here again in if there's time during our return flight, or on a future flight! I've flew out of BWI many times, but this last week was my first time dinning at Sliver Dinner. My flight was after 5pm and after speeding through the security point, my husband and I decided to have a sit down dinner rather than grabbing food from one of the fast food spots in the airport. The diner is rather large. Each booth has small juke boxes which provides the nostalgic diner-like feel. The diner was fairly clean, could have been better, but not terrible. One of the seats in our booth was tattered, but other than that the booths were comfortable. We were greeted by our server almost immediately after sitting down. He was friendly and cordial, also knowledgeable on the options on the menu. He took our drinks orders and soon after, took out food order. I ordered the pineapple mimosa and the Santa Fe organic bison burger. The burger was very tasty. I prefer bison over beef, because the patty is normally not as heavy. The fries served with my burger seemed frost bitten, so that was a little disappointing. Other than that, my dinning experience was great. read more

My first time at a Silver Diner location within an airport and I wasn't sure if the experience would vary from a non-airport location. Thankfully, it was the same great experience and there was no sacrifice in the quality of food or service provided. The prices were quite reasonable, as I didn't notice an airport mark-up. I visited the restaurant during the afternoon and the menu included a solid variety of choices for lunch or an early dinner. Alternatively, they do have a section of the menu carved out with breakfast items if you want a meal from the A.M. hours. Beverage selection options include a full-service bar. Especially important in an airport dining establishment is efficiency and this Silver Diner had enough personnel to ensure I had plenty of time to get to my gate. My waitress was nice and checked back frequently and I saw other servers interacting with other customers and routinely checking back. If you want more than the food court this is certainly a good option If you have time before or in-between flights. read more

Clean and cute diner with a 50s vibe. Their menu marks low fat/vegan/vegetarian/gluten free items, and has a lot to choose from. Traditional diner fare like burgers and milkshakes, as well as salads, seafood dishes, and all day breakfast. I got the vegetarian omelette and a side of home fries; my sister got the crab cake platter which came with cole slaw and french fries (she liked it). One tiny odd thing - my toast wasn't buttered and there wasn't any butter on the table. No big deal, the bread was tasty and I was more excited about the omelette and fruit anyway. Great spot if you're in BWI for a layover. Tons of vegan-friendly options which is great to see, and a huge menu including breakfast all day. The Denver omelet (without ham) that I ordered was okay, but home fries were really good and crispy. The chunky monkey banana shake was EXCELLENT. I had read all the reviews and decided to try this out as I had 2 hours to wait at the airport between flights. The whole process from seating to leaving only took an hour, so that was good to know for the future. The service was good and the place is enormous! Surprisingly for an airport restaurant the food was pretty good. I ordered the BUILD YOUR OWN BURGER* 13.99- Beef, mayo, arugula, tomato and pickles medium rare. with a salad . The burger didn't have that much flavor, but it was medium rare and the topping were fresh. French fries were just ok - a little overcooked for me. I decided to splurge and try their signature apple pie slice ala mode. APPLE PIE $6.99 per slice $ small charge for ala mode - Made with cinnamon-spiced apples in a buttery crust, drizzled with salted caramel. It was good - the crust was flaky and the apples nicely spiced. I thought the drizzle of salted caramel was too sweet for me, but the ala mode helped a lot in cutting through the sweetness. I wish there had been more ice cream. It was definitely worth trying and if you like a sweet sweet dessert, try it! I ended up coming again a month or two later with BF and based on my experience, we went here for dinner. Once again we were seated pretty quickly and the service was good. I ordered the fish tacos - BAJA FISH TACOS- $15.99 -Fried Nordic flounder, southwest ranch, shredded cabbage, cilantro, scallions, Oaxaca black bean salsa, cilantro sour cream with side pineapple-citrus salad. I just did not care for this dish. The fish was fine, but there was too much ranch dressing, and the flavor overall was just not appealing to me. The black bean salsa was too vinegary, there was too much cabbage, the tortillas were over heated and so broke in pieces as I tried to eat them. I would not order again. BF got the beef burger and said it was alright. Again, not much flavor but he liked the fries. So would I go again? Yes. It still has pretty good food compared to a fast food restaurant, you get to sit comfortably and the servers are all very pleasant. read more

A layover while you are hungry can be challenging at an airport. We chose Silver Diner because we were familiar with them back home. NOT THE SAME MENU, understandable being in an airport they have their limitations. However, you shouldn't have to sacrifice quality because of limitations. I ordered wings and fries, the Mrs opted for the chicken sandwich because they advertise that their chicken breast is brined in pickle juice. (insert big surprise emoji here) Nope, the chicken breasts were dry dry and just not what you would expect. The Mrs ate them reluctantly because she was hungry...she paid for her consumption later. (sad face) My wings were undercooked and although I asked for very little spicy sauce they came drenched! The fries were like warm and the soda was flat. So this review is for the diner just past TSA in concourse B. I went here with what I thought was plenty of time before my flight. No wait at the check in stand. Needed a table for 1. The host said he'd go check and let me know. He danced, yes danced, his way into the back of the restaurant. After talking to co-workers for 3-5 minutes he signaled me back to a booth that was way too small (glad table could move and I was solo). The booth featured an old fashioned juke box. It didn't say it required quarters to use (and who carries quarters in their pockets through TSA these days anyways???) so I tried to key in a song. It never played. Fortunately I got to hear Ghostbusters and My Sharona three times each during my stay. The waitress came by for my order. Iced tea and crab cake sandwich. She brought the tea fast enough but sandwich took awhile. Not necessarily her but I did notice others standing around more than helping. The sandwich consisted of a crab cake half the size of the bun at best. It was ok for airport food but nothing to brag. However i had to ask for utensils, I was never offered a refill on my tea and had to flag her down to pay the bill ($21.50 before tip). This was a 45 minute experience.
