I sat at the bar and had very fast and friendly service. Ambiance is still wonderful. Hoping the upgrade they were promised actually happen vs being shortchanged. I had the Hanger Steak and Eggs with Swiss Cheese which were amazing and hard to finish even without eating much earlier in the day. Also had a BO'dacious Blonde from Heavy Seas and an Oriole Orange Cream Shake. Price was only about 50 bucks for all of that whereas such a meal would be more elsewhere at BWI and lower quality. Impressed with this spot in BWI - it's a great place to grab a meal if you have enough time at the airport. It is a full-service, breakfast, lunch and dinner spot and is very large with a ton of seating. It really goes way back. Neither one of us wanted the cheese so I asked for mine minus pepper jack and they got theirs minus feta. The food arrived with only a brief wait. Oaxaca Omelette - comes with black bean salsa, pepper Jack cheese, salsa roja, cilantro, and chunky avocado/guacamole. It includes whole wheat toast and one side (homefries or fresh fruit). The omelette was very good. The salsa roja has a nice kick and the guac was fresh, chunky and tasty. I got the home fries, which were superb with cooked onions. Even the bread - which was properly toasted - was delicious. The portion of omelette, potatoes and bread was very good. Filling and delish. Power Breakfast - egg white omelette filled with cremini mushrooms, spinach, roasted tomatoes, and feta cheese. It was served with chicken sausage, fresh fruit, and whole wheat toast, but my partner subbed an English muffin. Again, no notes. The omelette was delicious and I even got a positive comment on the chicken sausage. The fruit was cold, fresh and tasty. We ordered only water to drink. The service was friendly and good. We were asked if we wanted water refills (our glasses were not completely empty) when we asked for the check, which is a sign of good service. We had no trouble getting a seat at 8:00 am on a Friday. We were really surprised and delighted to find this cute restaurant with a vintage diner theme right in the middle of the Baltimore Airport. The three of us were seated right away, and wiith about an hour until we had to board we figured we would have plenty of time for a good meal. The restaurant had a really good selection on the menu, my son was going to get a turkey sandwich (burger?) and I was really geared up for the "Kickin' Crab and Corn" chowder. We waited and watched while a couple other parties were seated. And we waited. And waited. Two restaurant staff ladies walked by casually, chatting about leaving work early, while we waited. A food runner ran by twice, while we waited. The people in the next booth over were brought extra ranch dressing, while we waited. And we waited, and we waited. No drink order, no "I'll be with you in a minute", no acknowledgement whatsoever from the moment we sat down until nearly 10 minutes later when we got up and left. On our way out, we noticed the two gals who had walked by us several times, they were just sitting out front of the restaurant, having a casual conversation. (This was 8:00 pm on 7/12) Restaurant staff should be reminded that they have a job in a busy international airport, where people are probably hungry or tired or in a rush, or all of the above. This place is busy! The line may seem long, but it moves quickly. Each booth has a jukebox that takes quarters only a true diner experience. My flight was late, so after going through TSA, this restaurant was right in front of me. I could eat so I popped in to grab some brunch. Although I was seated immediately, It took quite some time for a server to come and introduce themselves to me. I had actually contemplated leaving, when one showed up. I ordered pancakes, eggs and asked her which was the best meat choice. She said bacon so that's what I ordered. Pancakes were not good at all and were a little...... not sure how to explain them, but difficult to cut; so a little tough. There was one good thing they were served with a bottle of warm syrup. However, the pancakes would not absorb the syrup. It just rolled off. The bacon was good, but greasy and I asked for eggs scrambled soft and they were close so I didn't send them back. I ate them. . I was honestly excited when I saw a Silver Diner inside the Baltimore Airport because I had eaten twice at the Harbor location in Oxon Hill, MD during vacation and absolutely loved it there. Unfortunately, the airport location was a complete disappointment and nowhere near the same quality. The menu options were limited, there was no turkey bacon available, the food arrived cold, and everything lacked flavor. The onions were not caramelized at all, and even the pancakes tasted plain and uninspired compared to the Harbor location. What stood out most was the inconsistency between locations. As someone with a culinary and food service background, it was obvious there are no true standardized recipes or quality controls being followed. It honestly felt like the Harbor location has chefs behind the line while the airport location simply has cooks preparing food as quickly as possible. The service itself was still good and the staff was polite, which is the reason for the second star. But overall, what started as excitement quickly turned into disappointment. My wife and often fly Southwest. That being the case, we were making a connection in Baltimore on May 31st. Since we had a two hour layover, we thought to have dinner at the Silver Diner, an establishment we often patronize. Since we saw no "Seat Yourself" or "Wait for Hostess" sign, we walked in and started to take a table. The bartender leaned over and said, "Those tables are no longer available." Okay, no worries. We were flying out of the airport on an early morning flight and decided to stop here for some breakfast. It is a very big diner so they can accommodate a lot of people. The hostess was quick with a lot of energy. The menu had a lot of standard breakfast items. I went with the Denver omelet. It had ham, cheese, onions and green peppers. It was a very big omelet. It also came with a biscuit and either home fries or a fruit cup. I went with the home fries because they came with caramelized onions. My husband got pancakes, eggs and bacon. We decided to go for a big meal prior to our flight across the country, and were SO happy we chose Silver Diner in BWI. First off, our waitress Siobhan was awesome. She was patient and super helpful. We each decided on the hickory smokehouse cheddar burger with sweet potato fries on the side. The burgers were cooked perfectly and the fries were amazing- and how fun Siobhan brought out all the sauces to try! We had a great time. I also got a sundae to go and it was delicious. You know, I was pretty shocked at how good this place was for airport fare. We decided to eat here during a layover. It was pretty busy and we waited a few minutes to be seated. I did not realize how big this place stretched back and there were many tables and seats. The menu is pretty full of options and we settled for a breakfast, with coffee. At the table there was a cute old school jukebox you could play if you wanted. We both got a coffee and water, it's really solid coffee, and steaming hot. I got the local goat cheese basil balsamic tomatoes omelette that came with fresh fruit and toast. He got the bison huevos rancheros (menu says: crispy whole wheat tortillas, chorizo hash, organic bison, cage free eggs over easy, peppers, salsa Rojas, scallions, cilantro, goat cheese and guac). Generally waffles are my go to for breakfast but I could not pass up goat cheese. My omelette was nicely portioned and filling, there was a proportionate ratio of balsamic and tomatoes to the actual omelette that I could enjoy with every bite. As for his, it was very tasty with a well blend that you could get a little of everything in one bite. We took our time and enjoyed our coffee while we had time to kill during the layover. I did not expect to find such a great diner at an airport. Silver Diner at Baltimor is a very interesting exception to the typical terminal eateries, with a touch of 50s. Not only the decor was pleasant, but the food was of high quality. A diner in an airport?!?! I usually fly out of Terminal D, but this trip we departed from Terminal B, so we figured, why not give it a try? I asked our server, Rose, what she recommended, and she immediately raved about the bruschetta, saying it was the best she'd ever had and not just because she worked there. Funny enough, she wasn't wrong. It was honestly the best bruschetta I've ever had. Taking her advice, we also ordered the Ranchero and the Double Penne Pasta. Both dishes were beautifully presented and absolutely delivered on flavor. What really made the experience stand out, though, was Rose's service. One thing my husband especially appreciated was that she made it clear we could take our time deciding. She wasn't rushing us at all she simply let us know she was available whenever we were ready. It was such a thoughtful approach. As a parent, I also noticed the little things. Rose asked our children to remove the lids from their cups so she wouldn't have to touch their straws. Such a small gesture, but incredibly mindful. By the end of the meal, we were completely stuffed, but Rose convinced us to take a shake for the road. She even brought four straws so the whole family could share just one shake. Great food, exceptional service, and none of the slow pace you'd typically expect from a diner. This was a great spot to go for breakfast, getting a good meal before our early flight out of BWI. We were brought to a high top table next to the counter area, the table was a good size for two people, likely too small for anything more than the two of us. Coffee was quick to arrive, my only disappointment was they had no French toast available on the day of our visit. Instead I had pancakes and eggs, the pancakes were quite large, and the eggs were perfectly prepared over easy. Well, I'm just going to rip the Band-Aid right off and say it. The airplane food was better.... I had a layover, , and I love a good crabcake. I saw that this place had them. It's Baltimore! The food comes relatively quickly, in addition to the crabcakes, there was a side of fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw tasted good, and the fries were crisp on the outside, and tender in the middle. There was both a tartar sauce, and. An old bay remoulade. In addition to the crabcake, I also used both as a dip for my fries. The sides and the sauces are what save this from being a two star review. Now, let's talk about the crabcakes. They were moist and tender on the inside, but kind of overdone, and tough on the outside. They were seasoned well, but that's the problem. I tasted mostly seasoning and filler, and not that much crab. I was very disappointed I recently flew out of Dulles on United Airlines, and got an upgrade to the front of the plane. The crabcakes on that flight were amazing! Among the best I ever had. And these were "airplane crabcakes!" Food soda, tax and tip, and I was out the door $42 poorer. I don't mind paying extra if it's good food, but In this case, sorry, but it just wasn't. Next time I'm at BWI, I'll just go elsewhere. Food is normally good at SD. But it seems like the dishes on the menu lack the unique options they once had and it is starting to look more like a menu from Denny's. I had a hard time finding something I really wanted but I settled for the triple pickles chicken sandwich. Now price at about 19 bucks!!! It's tasty but also a freaking mess to eat. I ended up chopping it to a chicken salad with my fork and knife. Entree prices are now through the roof, used to be pretty reasonable but they are pricing the working man out. It's going to need to be relabeled as the silver spoon diner if they keep jacking up the prices. Can't say I was thrilled to eat at this popular restaurant where the service is getting dismally slow. Well, after an all nighter work assignment , I just went to BWI at 05:00 to wait for my flight at 10:00. Terminal B, Southwest Airlines. In the 'food court area' there was this place and it looked quite busy so I figured the coffee must be good. Immediate seating for somewhat cramped booths. Immediate service as well. I went with the Denver Omelet which came with a biscuit and home fries for 15$. The coffee was hot and good. The table was small, the portion was sizable, but the plate too small. The plate and table combo was slippery so I had to maneuver my plate quite a bit to eat. The biscuit was incredible!!!! I liked the quick breakfast, they had a decent menu for the rest of the day.
