The sandwich was good but squished down when eating it so at times it seemed like 90% bun to 10% crab cake. The shoestring fries were great though! My waitress, Selena, was fantastic too. Well, after an all nighter work assignment , I just went to BWI at 05:00 to wait for my flight at 10:00. Terminal B, Southwest Airlines. In the 'food court area' there was this place and it looked quite busy so I figured the coffee must be good. Immediate seating for somewhat cramped booths. Immediate service as well. I went with the Denver Omelet which came with a biscuit and home fries for 15$. The coffee was hot and good. The table was small, the portion was sizable, but the plate too small. The plate and table combo was slippery so I had to maneuver my plate quite a bit to eat. The biscuit was incredible!!!! I liked the quick breakfast, they had a decent menu for the rest of the day. This was a total Bust. Went for breakfast; food was cold (I mean cold!). Asked twice for Ranch dressing finally received after the meal, no napkins, so finally went to the bus station and got myself. Waiter was slow, waited 10 mins for the check and the restaurant wasn't even busy. Waiter was pleasant so that made up for some of the rest. I love the Silver Diner. As vegans it has provided a haven for us when our flights go awry. We left Phoenix at 6 am - here I am at 8:00 pm and we still have another flight and a car rental just to get to Cincinnati. And thank you Silver Diner for still offering vegan options - it's been a long day and this place feels like home. Our vegan options were limited, but many places have none. Love the vegan breakfast tacos. My only complaints were the food was not hot when we got it and the accompanying salad was not fresh. Some brown and wilted lettuce. The guacamole was surprisingly tasteless. The last three times we came here though, that was not our experience, so we will be back and maybe next time food will be back to pre pandemic quality. read more

We just landed in Baltimore with a roughly 3 hrs layover and we're starving so it was a relief to come across the Silver Diner right away. A sit down restaurant with good music and sports at the bar in that old nostalgic diner feel. It was a good experience just rather wish the food had been a bit better. Mom and I ordered two sandwiches and an appetizer: the Cheeseburger with a sub of Impossible burger for me, the grilled cheese and tomato soup for mom and the crab sliders to split. Let's start with the sliders, it's a flight of three sliders with a side of coleslaw and a chipotle mayo (mom said there was a kick but I didn't taste that.). It's Maryland so naturally we had to have something with crab. The sliders were decent, definitely needed the kick of the mayo but I'm a little surprised with how sparse the toppings were (a continued theme). The pico de gallo was actually really good! But it was such a tiny spoonful on the slider it was buried entirely until you took the sandwich apart. A shame, I think it would have benefited a lot more with a healthier portion with the smashed avocado. A word of warning though, these sliders come with their own set of fries so if you're on the fence about getting your main course with fries or something else, keep this in mind! Unless you love lots of fries than you have double. The cheeseburger with the impossible patty was something I was super excited about, I truly didn't expect to see the option outside of the west coast so being able to share part of my sandwich with my mom was great. At least it would have been had there been more to the burger (and I really do use that term lightly here). A few sprigs of either lettuce or arugula and a sliver of a tomato, whatever condiment had been on the sandwich was anyone's guess since it didn't add anything to it. The patty needed salt and pepper, first and foremost, it also benefitted from the slivers of pickles provided on the side but more so the ranch I ordered for the fries (and the mayo from the sliders, that had lots of uses!). Seasoning on the patty, an abundance of lettuce and some thicker sliced tomatoes would have made this so much better. Also cheese? No idea where that was. The last item was mom's grilled cheese and tomato soup. The soup was actually tomato basil, the most perfect rendition of a tomato soup as you all know, and did not disappoint. Smooth and flavorful, still needed a pinch of salt and pepper but it was lovely. The grilled cheese on its own was equally good, that sought after warm hug in a sandwich that brings comfort and peace. Together I thought the soup overpowered the sandwich to the point you can only taste the soup but mom disagreed, and said it was a good dish. Mom's pro tip: pull the sandwich apart and you have double the dipping bread! All things considered, this was a good place to sit and rest after a long flight with food that's uncomplicated. And when you're starving and have a sensitive stomach, that's really the most important thing. read more

(This happened Saturday 10/12/24 approx 1pm). It wasn't crazy busy as I got to the line waiting to be seated, but the very late middle-aged man who was in charge of seating felt no urgency whatsoever. He took his time and wasn't very friendly. I finally got seated and noticed immediately that the "host" seated 6 tables in one area. By the time he told the server, 3 parties had already been waiting an unacceptable amount of time. We had a layover at BWI on a Monday night. We walked around the entire airport before we decided to eat at the Silver diner. We did have to wait a little while for the hostess to return and seat us, but she was very nice and sat us in a booth. I must say that I really enjoyed that they had jukeboxes on the tables. Our waiter, Steven, came to our table almost immediately after we were seated and asked us if we had ever been there before. When we told him that we had not,, he let us know everything about the menu and asked if we had any questions before he took our drink order. I must say I was pretty impressed with the service for an airport restaurant. we ordered our drinks and he brought them back within a few minutes and took our order. I ordered the cheesesteak and my wife ordered a pickle fried chicken sandwich. The cheesesteak was really good and the bread tasted like Philly bread. The chicken sandwich that my wife had was very tender. The fries that we both got looked like they were hand cut. We didn't feel rushed to leave at any point. We have another layover coming up in a few weeks and will probably go back here to eat. They do all day breakfast, so I may try that. I like that the menu has the local farms that the food was sourced from n it. Definitely not what you would expect at an airport restaurant. The only downside for us is that we were sitting next to people who were playing music loudly on their phones. They had their jukebox going, and the music playing videos loudly so it almost became unbearable. The Silver Diner has been a dining spot for my brother and I on our two layovers at B.M.W. This should be expected since, I am a fan of diners. The Silver Diner is located in the heart of the main terminal near the food court, baggage claim exit, and in the center of the three Concourses. The Silver Diner is both modern and a Diner vibe. This makes waiting for the food and eating it enjoyable. Our table that overlooked the Concourse had a jukebox. Coincidentally it was the same table as last time. Back in the 1980s and 1990s when I visited diners, each table featured a jukebox. At these Long Island diners, the patron put in a quarter to hear the song of their choice. Here, it was hard to tell if they were mostly for show. At any rate, I enjoyed the oldies soundtrack playing on their soundsystem that included oldies such as "Think," "Light My Fire," "My Girl," "Skooby Doo (Where are you?)," and more. Whether or not, the juke box was genuine, it's phone chargers were. It was nice to recharge the phone while dining. Just like last time, I ordered the crab cake sandwich. It included lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce with Old Bay Crispy fries and cole slaw. Here the dirty word "inflation" shows up. The price of the sandwich is now $20.99. Considering that B.W.I. is near Chesapeake Bay, it made sense to order something that came from the nearby waters. The sandwich was equally as legendary as the oldies playing. With it, I ordered a Coke for $3.59. The funny thing about their crab cake sandwich is that a Coke actually takes away from the meal. It's as if I ordered a water at zero cost that I can relate to the crab coming from this clear Chesapeake Bay water. A Coke looked like dirty water. Where the crab was the protagonist of the airport dining adventure, a mouse was the enemy. I don't like writing negative things about a Diner that I feel provides a positive dining experience to the airport. However, I write my reviews from real experiences. Towards the end of the meal when I was fortunate enough to have finished a meal, we saw a mouse run from the kitchen wall area to the booth under the table across from us. It was real. Now, it is unclear if the mouse came from the kitchen, came from another part of the airport and passed through or near the kitchen, or if there is a mouse problem in the airport. All I can say is that my brother and I saw a mouse. This leads to the question of cleaniness. Both times that we dined here, the diner and dinnerware appeared to be clean. As far as the service, no complaints. Our Waitress was attentive and professional. We did not feel rushed. I like the Silver Diner. Unfortunately the mouse incident has led to a star deduction. Again, whether or not it came from the kitchen or was passing through the airport, the mouse was a negative part of our Silver Diner experience. For the record, a lot of Yelpers would be far less generous than me by giving it one star. When I took into account the food, atmosphere, choices of food, and enjoyable place to dine in the airport; I have bestowed the Silver Diner with three stars. I had had a handful of long enough layovers that I have time to dine in here. In the past 3 years I've probably eaten here 4 times. Which doesn't sound like a lot, but this truly is my go to place when I have a layover long enough to sit down and actually have a meal instead of just grabbing something quick on the way through. The service and quality of food is consistent. I like that when I have carry on I can roll it under the table so that is out of the way and I don't have to settle for one of the fast food alternatives. Most recently I had the Local Burrata Bruschetta. I regularly order bruschetta when dining out, it's one of my favorite appetizers. Theirs is very good, and I will likely order it again the next time I'm passing through. The portion is very generous, and could easily have been a light meal on its own, or shared with a friend. I was traveling solo, so I enjoyed as much as I could handle without making myself miserable before boarding my next flight! I also ordered the Kickin' Crab and Corn Chowder. Terrible experience..I consumed a cheese steak and strong island drink at the BWI airport location on 1/28/26...I got sick soon after eating and leaving the restaurant, got dizzy and felt very nauseous, made it to the men's bathroom close by where threw up constantly and even passed out! The ambulance was called and I was rushed to St Agnes hospital where I stayed from the 28th to Feb 1st! I was diagnosed with Acute Gastroenteritis!!! ( Salmonella, E Coli) Food poisoning ..which spreads thru contaminated food/water!!! Very painful experience. I've eaten here twice and both times have been underwhelming to say the least. Don't think there will be a third unless they close ALL the other restaurants in this terminal. I was seriously contemplating leaving when waiting 10 minutes at my table for the waiter. I should have. But an omelet sounded good and I thought I would give a second chance. He finally arrived and acted like I was bothering him when he was taking the order. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet and a water. I ended up with a skimpy luke warm ham&cheese omelet, it came with some type of dried cold potatoes and an extremely dry biscuit. The so called meal arrived before the water. The home fries weren't hot nor were they crispy. It reminded me of undercooked roasted potatoes that you'd eat for dinner. The eggs, bacon, and biscuit were good. But that sausage. Omg that sausage was to die for! I don't know what kind of sausage they use but it was delicious. Service was as expected for an airport diner lol. Same with the prices. I visited the Silver Diner at BWI airport last week after walking past it about a million times. The seating system was...incomprehensible? There was a long line and wait for tables, but the staff member at the host stand said we could just sit at the bar. There were plenty of empty tables, so maybe they didn't have enough staff to man the tables but did have enough to man the bar and the kitchen? Anyway, we sat at the bar to avoid the wait. The menu was weirdly undinerlike. I was expecting simple diner food classics, but they tried to make a fancier menu with more complicated and modern dishes. I'd rather they had stuck closer to a classic diner. However, I did order one of the classic diner dishes, which was good (eggs, bacon, sausage, toast). I'd rather it had been a bit smaller (maybe one protein) and so a little less expensive and less food, but it was cooked fine (and my eggs were over easy as I asked for)! The service at the bar was pretty good - our server was friendly and helpful. I wouldn't say the food came out fast, so I wouldn't go if you're in a rush, but we had time, so we were good. We had always bypassed this restaurant for the airplane motif one. Which is unfortunate. Because we always leave there disappointed. Just enjoy the furniture. But from start to finish, this was a great experience. We were greeted and sat from the moment we walked up. And there were two parties in front of us. They made it happen quickly. Michael greeted us at the table shortly after we sat down, with a welcoming smile. He was attentive and helpful and he was hustling. He greeted everyone professionally and politely. They have a 50's vibe going on. Personal jukeboxes on the tables and many of them have charging stations. You can pick from many options at no price and they play them in the order they were received. Great options too. The burrata was awesome. Soft and creamy. They served it lots of chopped tomatoes that have been tossed with oil, balsalmic and basil and sour dough toast. Nice touch! I love different plays on caprese. It is definitely my comfort food. We ordered the chicken picatta. Cooked perfectly and the chicken was really good quality. We're from Arizona, and we find it hard to find good chicken. This is my go to place when I'm at BWI. Silver Diners are great for having veg options so I love that this is a casual place to sit and get a bite to eat and something to drink. The food isn't always the most fresh but hey, we're in an airport. I've only had great service here. When I walked in yesterday and said I just wanted to sit at the bar another patron said "good luck" as he was asking the host to speak to a manager. As a patron that grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland (Now residing in Florida) who studied Hospitality Management for my education plus spent years eating at the various Silver Diner locations in the DMV, by far, the BWI location had far less superb service. I had 3 minutes to kill because my flight was delayed and I've never tried the Silver Diner location in BWI. Service and quality assurance was unconscionably slow and unenthusiastic. The hostess said I was probably would get faster service at the bar although she mentioned I was kinda of cutting close (all I wanted was the Kickin' Crab Soup). Once I sat at the bar, I was semi hydrated and need water... It took 5 minutes before the employee working the bar attended to me to take my order. She received assistance from another young gentleman who noticed that I arrived and he actually proceeded to take my order, but transferred my service back to the employee. I assumed she saw me sitting at the bar and brought water for the other guests at the bar, but didn't bring me a glass. The other employee that was planning to take my order pre-warned her that I was ready to order. When she came, I quickly placed my order which came out fairly quick, but she waited to give me a glass of water with my soup at the same time. Anywho, I ate my soup and drank my water, but she didn't bother to stick around to refill the glass. After 10 minutes, she returned and I asked for the check and settled the bill. Then proceeded to leave and thought, order a milkshake on the way out. I stopped by the counter and ordered the milkshake which took 6 minutes to make when there were any customers ahead of me. I thought, why is this taking so long to prepare. The young lady gave me the milkshake, but she barely blended the milk shake because I couldn't even suck the beverage out of the straw because it texture was still thick. Silver Diner delivered on both aspects: My mocha shake was excellent and well worth the wait; my chicken Caesar salad was massive and quite fresh for an airport salad. The young lady that helped us was quite nice--wish the receipt had her actual name on it--offering suggestions and explaining what she could and could not have heated up for us. She even gave us a couple of cups with water, which we didn't even ask for, she offered! There is a lot of good going on here. Service was very good. It was not a min of waiting until we were seated and drinks came out couple min later. Wife got a Bloody Mary and approved! I had the steak and eggs. We also had crab cake sandwich and a burger at the table. Crab cake was mostly crab - very little filler. Old bay fries are a must try (this is MD after all). Only criticisms are really nit picking. My steak was a bit under done. Not dangerous just a bit rare. Most of my steak plate was just warm. Not hot. Fries w burger were the same. For those in the north east , you will not call this a "diner". Cheese fries and gravy are not on the menu. Also menu is 4 pages. Not 40. Do I recommend? Yes. Would I come back? Yup. The Silver Diner had been my favorite airport restaurant of all airports prior to the pandemic. They had farm to table entrees which were prepared fresh. I was fine with 2-2.5 hours between flights because I would enjoy such an exceptional meal. That has all changed and food options that were once there are gone. Now it is like most other airport restaurants, the food comes out quickly and is of low quality and over priced. The service is still exceptional and the decor is cool. This location at BWI is SLEPT on in the hustle and bustle of airport food options. NO WAIT - then a nice sit down booth so I could take a work call, a super chill and friendly waiter who didn't mind my AirPods being in (thank you for that!), and a delicious low cal, filling and delicious healthy lunch. Upon arrival, no one was at the host station. We had about an hour before our flight started to board, so we weren't in a great hurry, but we wanted to be sure we were on time. Five minutes, nobody coming to the host station. Two employees just shooting the breeze with each other and laughing and whatever at the station just about 15-20 feet in and to the left behind what looked like a dessert case (before one gets to the bar). 10 minutes, still nobody attending to the host station and the line is growing behind us. I finally SHOUTED "HEY, Y'ALL! IS ANYBODY GOING TO COME TO THE HOST STATION TO SEAT US OR TAKE OUR NAMES?" It was a bit loud. That got someone's attention. The sandwiches and fries here are pretty good and portions are abundant. The service, on the other hand, I'm not so sure about. Servers were arguing about who had what section and who was going to be our server. One gentleman kept pawning off his tables to the server who took us. My bride and I looked at each other like - doesn't this guy want to make some tip money? The gal who kept accepting those tables was certainly benefitting from it. The table was not very clean, in fact it stained my wife's arm and sleeve of her shirt, just a greyish - almost ashy color probably from the binding around edge the table. As far as ambiance?? Well it's a Silver Diner in an airport. It's okay- it looks a lot like other Silver Diner restaurants, but a little darker because it's not outside or independent of its surroundings. At the end of the day, it's a better choice than many of the other options at BWI assuming one has the time to sit down and enjoy a meal between flights. It took 10 minutes to get a server, and ten more to get drinks, despite the three of us being being 30 percent of the whole restaurant customer base. Our server's outfit was filthy, stained, and he was generally a slob. We had grilled cheese, and another person ordered a cheeseburger. It was predictably slower than mud, and the food was beyond awful. Everyone of us commented that it had no flavor, and was cold.
