This place was a one-and-done experience for us. Never again!! My husband and I ended up here after the Dave Chappelle show because our original dinner plans fell through when the restaurant was fully booked. We should have made reservations, but at that point, all we wanted was a decent meal (nothing fancy) after a long workweek and then to head home. Unfortunately, a decent meal didn't happen. The food was some of the worst we've had in a long time. My husband actually spit food into his napkin, shook his head, and said, "I'm done." I've never seen him do that before. Several dishes were simply inedible. The mashed potatoes were bland and flavorless--how do you mess up mashed potatoes? The potato salad was equally bland and disappointing. The French onion soup had very little broth and was overloaded with a thick layer of hardened cheese. Overall, the food tasted cheap and poorly prepared, yet the prices suggested otherwise. It felt like diner-quality food being sold at premium prices. What made the experience even more frustrating was the manager's response. He came to our table after hearing about our concerns, but instead of focusing on the quality issues we raised, he seemed more concerned that my husband refused to order a replacement meal. That spoke volumes about where the priorities were. The one bright spot was our server, who was attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the meal. No complaints regarding the server as he was extremely apologetic with our experience. To our surprise, the restaurant also added an automatic gratuity to our bill. Ironically, had that not been done, we likely would have tipped our server more because he was not the problem. The kitchen and management were. No, I didn't complain about the tip after I noticed it on our bill. We were over the experience and just wanted to pay and get the hell out of there. Save yourself the disappointment and spend your hard earned money elsewhere. We certainly wish we had. Gordon Ramsay, if you're looking for a future Kitchen Nightmares episode, this place could desperately use the help. P.S. A business name change is not going to help with the quality of the food. This turned out to be a totally awesome dinner and our server, Arturo, did a fantastic of job. I asked for a med rare urger, no bun, it came with dusted, seasoned french fries, lettuce, tomato and pickle, coleslaw was also included. Well, i am always hesitant to order med rare because they briing out a well done burger. Nearly every time, even if i asķ if they can make it med raŕe and the say yes. Sigh. I sent it back and they redidd it more to rare, dang, it was just perfect! The beefy angus flavor was how this ended up. I could have eaten another it was so good. I went to the restroom to wash my hands before being seated, and it was spotless as well. Our server was friendly and informed us about the menu, including which items weren't available since it was a Monday night, and they didn't have a sauté chef on staff. I ordered the fried pork chops, scrambled eggs with American cheese, potatoes, and a pancake instead of toast. The food arrived hot and looked appetizing. Overall, I enjoyed my meal. The pancakes, eggs, and potatoes were perfect, but the pork chops could have used more seasoning. The breading on the chops also kept falling off as I cut into them, which made me wish I had ordered them grilled or broiled instead. We came here for a late breakfast. We were happy to see that they have breakfast all day. My husband ordered this platter that had a giant ham steak sausage eggs and pancakes. The pancakes were ginormous. He said everything was delicious. They give you a lot of food! I had the French toast which was three large slices of Challah bread with fresh blueberries and bacon. This was the biggest bacon I've ever seen. Service was great. Had Christmas music playing but very softly. I hate when the music is too loud. We had so much food, we boxed up our leftovers. I love a good diner. (I'm originally from New Jersey. I know diners.). Am staying at the hotel nearby and walked over on Wednesday night around 8:15 pm. About 8 people in the diner. Was seated immediately. I ordered the "senior" (age 60 and older) eggplant parm ($14.50) and also a french onion soup ($7.95). The eggplant came with a large "side" salad with choice of dressing. My partner got the "senior" salmon dinner ($17.50) with a cup of soup, mashed potatoes and peas/carrots. Really good meal. The French onion soup had a nice, rich flavor, lots of carmelized onion, cheese and enough - but not too much - bread. An excellent soup. The eggplant parm was a very healthy portion of lightly breaded eggplant with a nice cheese cover. The spaghetti sauce had what seemed to me too much oregano, although it grew on me as I continued eating. I'd recommend less oregano in the sauce but, of course, that a personal preference thing. The salad had nice fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and shredded carrot. Large side salad. The salmon was nicely prepared and the mashed potatoes were excellent. The peas in the peas and carrot mixture looked in appearance like they were canned or overcooked (that weird shade of green that canned peas have), but they were tasty and not mushy. Appearances aren't everything. The cup of Maryland crab soup that came with the salmon dinner was outstanding. Did not expect to find real pieces of crab in the soup, but they were there. The broth was flavorful and plenty of vegetables. Really good. The service was very good too. Waters and my soda were refilled promptly and a smile when we left to go to the cashier to pay the check. I had high expectations for milkshakes, since that is like an essential to American Breakfast Diners. I ordered an Oreo Shake and it was very disappointing. They added too much milk and the ice cream did not taste authentic. I barely tasted the vanila in the ice cream. It was more of milk with crushed oreos rather than thick creamy ice cream blended with oreos. I tried their burgers and it was nothing memorable. It was a little bland, definitely needed more salt and pepper. The burger was comparable to a chain restaurant, like Denny's. We met for brunch on a cloudy April Saturday morning (9:30) with two other couples. We were thinking it was going to be super busy but, lucky for us, the restaurant seemed more than half empty. After being quickly seated, our server took our beverage orders and gave us just the right amount of time to choose from the large menu. I looked at the menu online ahead of time but it must not have been correct since those prices were much higher than the actual menu in hand. We were seated in a corner booth with nice, comfortable seating and excellent light. Everything was sparkling clean. Food came out fairly quickly. Come here for breakfast every time I visit my daughter in Baltimore. It is the closest I have found to a real NJ diner that I have found. Service was a little slow, but it was understandable; we came late, and they had a few other large groups ahead of us. The food was excellent and fresh. My husband visited this restaurant a couple times with his coworker, and couldn't wait to bring us over to try out . He said the food was good and the portion sizes were big. He wasn't exaggerating! We started with the Calamari, and thought it was really good and tender. My husband had the Ribeye and loved it. My son had the spaghetti and meatball, and also loved it I had the Porkchops with mashed potatoes. It was just ok for me. The pieces were big, but pretty thin. Unfortunate seating and extremely poor service. It started when my better half asked for a table for 2 and a couple came in after him and asked for a table of 2 and was promptly seated before us. This is a diner -- no reservations. Then the host returned and asked how many a second time. We were seated and the server came after about 10 minutes. The decaf was stale, so after telling the server, she said "it's old I will made a fresh pot. " The second round was good. I asked the server if the French toast was eggy. She said oh I don't know. She said she doesn't eat it here. Ok that's not helpful. We ordered and as I suspected, the food was cold when it came out. This is a place that the server needs to be on watch to pick up the food when it's ready. She was so slow, and could not be found most of the time. I had eggs, grits and toast. The toast was so cold, the butter could not spread. It was hard and tasted like cardboard. I told the server and she brought back 2 hot slices -- when I was half finished with my meal. The food was good just not hot. My better half had corned beef hash and eggs with home fries. He said his meal was good but the corned beef was canned. He recalled having fresh corned beef there in the past. The ketchup on the table was empty. He asked the server for ketchup and hot sauce and she brought it to him when he was almost finished eating. We went to the Broadway Diner and upon entering we were greeted at the door by a very friendly man in suit & tie. Once we were seated the waitress Dina asked if wanted something to drink. The diner was very clean. We ordered our food my sister got chicken tenders, onion rings, French fries, mozzarella sticks and I ordered the seafood platter. The food was amazing and a large portion. The Waitress came to our table 4 times checking to see if we needed anything. The man in the suit came to our table and asked how was the food. The meal was a little high in price but so worth it. What happened? It's been quite sometime that I've been here and today proved I never have to go back. You are greeted at the door with a huge sign from May indicating that the liquor license was lost due to non renewal. The dining room is dirty and the flies do not add to the ambiance. My wife ordered the famous grilled cheese and I ordered a cheese burger. To start, I ordered the Maryland crab which was salty, no crab and an extra bonus: garbage in the soup. There was some sort of foil in the soup. I told the waiter and while mortified he did not look too surprised. We got up and left. You can avoid the inconvenience of going there by not going at all. Growing up in New Jersey, the diner capital of the world, I have always loved and appreciated what a diner can be a represents. A diner is truly a crossroads of a community. You will have a man breaking for lunch from a nearby factory sitting at the counter next to a lawyer grabbing a quick lunch of a burger and fries. You will have families occupying tables next to a table of a widower who comes here every day because he never really learned to cook and now with his wife gone, he just finds it easier to come here than try to learn to cook. You will have teenagers and travelers, revelers and those who are in a perpetual rush from point A to point B. It truly is a crossroad of the community and on top of all of that, quite often a place to grab a quick meal at a competitive price. The Broadway Diner immediately caught my eye with its stainless steel and neon exterior and I knew that this is where I would be enjoying breakfast. The menu is pretty straightforward and offers what you would expect from a diner. I opted to go with a western omelette. All in all, it was a great breakfast and my server was fantastic. Diners are definitely a slice of Americana and hold a special place in both my heart and memories. The Broadway Diner is a great place to head towards for a great meal. I used to get a greeak salad from broadway diner once a week until recently. They water down the dressing and it has a totally different taste now. The portions are significantly smaller and I don't think they use real feta cheese. I believe they are now using goat cheese which is similar but def not feta. Real Greeks know the difference. Bring back George the owner! Unfortunately he sold the diner and it's trash now and way over priced. Also, MD crab soup has zero crab meat in it. read more
