I used Silk Way Movers for a move for my entire extended family of 6, and it could not have gone better. They were incredibly professional, diligent, and careful with our furniture. It was a hot hot day in June (over 90 degrees), and the weather did not slow them down. When a large box spring wouldn't make it through the curving staircase, they hoisted it up by ropes through a second story window. No complaints, just really nice about it. Because of the amount of stuff we had to move, they had to make two trips, and they were wonderful throughout the whole process. This was the first time I used them - our normal movers weren't available on Sundays. Their pricing was very very good. Communication was one of the positive things about this company. We needed to move a small 1 bedroom apartment. The movers were a little late which was no big deal. The move was going great until my furniture was damaged along with a wall. The property is brand new so the damage to the wall is a major inconvenience that we have to fix. We were given a small discount on the service but that does not make-up for the lack of concern about the damages. This company should have more consideration for others belongings. read more

Arrived on time and were prepared to move. Extremely fast movers. They were polite, took stock of what needed to be moved, put down pads to keep the carpets clean and were very efficient in transporting and moving boxes and furniture. This moving company is amazing. The response time for even inquiring about a move was prompt. I had reached out for a quote in the late evening, and got a response soon after that night! During the time frame before the actual move, any questions I asked were answered within the hour as well. Let me start by saying I had high expectations for Silk Way Movers due to the tremendous reviews on Yelp and Google review but the experience was FAR BEYOND unpleasant and basically watching a horror movie on display. My BLOOD BOILS just re-thinking about the experience. If I could give less than 0 star I would. They arrived at 9:55am for a 10am reservation. No carpets were laid out for the hard wood floor to start with. Absolutely unorganized and no communication between the workers. It was a 3 men job but only 2 were putting in effort while one gentleman named James did not bother at all (he not only stood around and wasted our time but was impolite too). Nothing was wrapped and only blankets were draped over the furnitures for "protection." No considerations for any of the house items. Half way through the move they informed me the truck may be too small to fit all items (which is funny because I was only moving one bedroom not even the whole house) so I had to surrender one of my dressers.They were also moving so slow that we ended up wrapping and removing the TV on our own. The move from Herndon to Arlington took almost 6 HOURS, S I X H O U R S (less than 15 boxes, one bed ,2 dressers, 2 night stands, a TV, 2 table stands, 6 chairs, a dining table and 2 TV stands) AND I ENDED UP MOVING THE PRINTER AND TV MYSELF. They also left trash and snow dirt throughout the house so I had to stay after and clean. FINALLY, they charged me for bubble wraps that weren't even used and left on the floor at my place. The two younger gentlemen (didn't catch their names) were efficient but moving cannot be accomplished without teamwork and if I had known, I would have willingly paid $200 more for a faster crew with better customer service. read more

Best movers I've ever experienced! Professional, efficient, and affordable! I have moved nearly every year for the past decade and I've always resorted to Craigslist to find affordable movers, but because I wanted more reliability, I decided to try my luck on Yelp this time. However, many Yelp vendors charged extra fees for a truck or for the crew's travel time to get to me, which frankly I find ridiculous. But not so with Silk Way Movers! They charge based solely on the duration of the service. No ridiculous extra/hidden fees. Mike was great about responding to my inquiries and check-ins before the move. He not only arrived to my building EARLY, he started the clock only once he was already inside my apartment and prepared a bill form for me to sign. Mike and the other gentleman who came with him were very nice throughout the move and extremely efficient. It was like magic the way they shuttled all my stuff out of my apartment so quickly and managed to move my big furniture without having to disassemble anything. I am still in the process of unpacking, but as of yet, I do not see any damage to my belongings or the walls/floors and I don't really expect to, since they were careful and seemed to be masters at maneuvering large things around corners. The charge for my move ended up being less than I had anticipated! This was hands down the fastest, best moving job I have experienced and I hope to use their services again for future moves. read more

I spoke to 5-6 movers approximately and all of them had ridiculous pricing options. When I spoke with Mike, his service was much cheaper. Mike was on time on moving day and quick loaded all the stuff into the truck. Mind you, we were moving into a 3 level town house and they were much quicker in unloading. I've patronized Silk Way Movers two times. The first time was great. The movers were also knowledgeable about disassembling and reassembling furniture. The second time, random movers were sent to assist me for my move. Ok, the two gentlemen were nice. They did however have the assistance of my brother and boyfriend which made their job a million times easier. Even the movers commented on this....My boyfriend still gave them very generous tips-and even the movers were very appreciative-even though their job was EASY to say the least. My problem is the two gentlemen did not know how to assemble furniture, which is the reason why I decided to use this company for a second time. I reached out to the manager and was told he can come the following day for an additional price that I did not want to pay because this was included in their service. We needed a bed put together for a toddler-which my boyfriends mom did ALL BY HERSELF-a child's nightstand and child's dresser. I moved just this past weekend. Honestly, if you're just looking for something quick and cheap, Mike will get the job done. I want to note that I had everything disassembled so they really just had to carry all the boxes out, but they do offer the service of dissembling and reassembling - just remember that they are paid by the hour. Mike, the owner, was incredibly fast and got started right away and made sure we weren't worried about anything. The other two men he brought weren't as fast, but they were probably really tired going up and down (move from and to were strictly stairs). For 4 hours of labor (1 hour drive included) and some packing materials, the total was about $500 - which is a great deal. I got quotes from other places and most have a basic charge of $100+ to cover their travel expense, but Mike included everything within the quoted rate which made it a LOT easier. Plus, the bigger moving companies that I won't name, actually quoted me for $1,200-1,600 (outrageous) for my 2 bed, 2 bath apt move. So overall, it wasn't exactly white glove service, but Mike was super understanding of all my needs and was easy to reach. I would highly recommend him to anyone on a budget. read more

They showed up on time and busted their butts with an incredibly long walk from our apartment to the loading dock elevator. They took great care in wrapping up the furniture as needed. They went above and beyond and made a pickup for us after we unloaded so that we wouldn't have to rent a truck. They went to a friends house, took apart some furniture, then brought it back to us and rebuilt it. Seriously, these guys are amazing. I can't say enough good things. They didn't require a deposit up front, and accepted a credit card on the back end, including throwing in several rolls of tape and use of wardrobe boxes for free. read more

This was our first time having three movers at one time, so I was excited to see how it would go. I provided them with snacks and beverages since they stated they did not have time to stop for water. I paid $500 dollars for 3 hours (I had all of my items in the garage except 4 pieces of furniture upstairs and it took them 2 hours to put it in a truck. Nonetheless, the movers were slow, inefficient, and untrained. I think the object of the game is to move slowly in order to get more money. Moreover, the Asian guy by the name of Mike was as rude as they come. When I offered to assist them he shouted at me (twice) and refused my help. They damaged a wall socket and left several items behind. When I paid Mike, I told him that he was rude and unprofessional, he took my money and laughed and rode off in his grocery labeled truck.
