    Prepackaged salad selections
    Joanne V.

I've grown up with this cafeteria inside Renown. My mom used to work the hospital as one of the hardworking nurses and my aunt also worked hard as a cashier at the cafeteria. Both my mom and my aunt retired but their friends still work here which makes it homely for me. I have fond memories of my mom bringing home food when she worked her night shift and my aunt would bring food home for my cousins, brother, and I also! My aunt would bring home expired bread and drive to the nearest park to feed the ducks. I usually go here when I'm working at the office usually twice a day to get my steps in. Many of the options are grab and go since 2020 but I'm hoping there are changes with the grill to be made to order as they recently changed the grab and go salads to an actual salad bar! for breakfast I usually get egg, sausage patty, breakfast sandwich which is way better than sausage egg McMuffin from McDonald's! There are also breakfast burritos offered for grab and go. There is also a hot breakfast line that menu changes daily but have the common staples of eggs, biscuits, gravy, sausage links, and bacon. Sometimes they offer chicken fried steak, hashbrown Pattie's, quiches, chorizo scramble, or corned beef hash. There is also donuts, bagels, cottage cheese, yogurt, yogurt parfaits, and oatmeal offered. Lunch time also have grab and go options: chicken sandwiches, hamburgers, chicken wraps, chicken strips, French fries, jalapeño poppers, and at time egg rolls. They have a rotating line of the hot selections and soup. Their fish tacos are the best but only are offered every few months. Chicken pablano soup is one of my favorites. They also offer salads sold by weight and sushi made daily. They also have a couple microwaves and offer condiments and utensils for those that need to heat food as employees also utilize the cafeteria for their lunch breaks. The dining area is very clean and well kept. Sarah and Kris are the ladies that serve the hot selections who I see daily and are the sweetest. The cashiers are very polite and again very homely because of the mutual relationships we have with my mom and my aunt.

Sierra Cafe is located at Renown Regional Medical Center, and employees get a 10% discount. I try to bring my breakfast and lunch and snacks to work, but Sierra Cafe hits the spot when I want to eat something that I didn't make myself. I highly recommend their breakfast burritos and English muffin breakfast sandwiches, which both come in meat and vegetarian options. Those are only available until 10:30 am, though, before the grill switches over to fried foods like burgers and fries and fried pickles and chicken club sandwiches. Sierra Cafe has another hot food station for breakfast and lunch options. People are always getting the biscuits and gravy, but I'm here for the potatoes, bacon, and sausage. There's a center area where you can get sushi that they make in house and other sorts of pre-packaged things. Pre-COVID, there was a salad bar, but now the salads come pre-packaged. They are huge and very inexpensive, but the fried foods or sushi usually get my dollars. There's lots of places to sit and eat, and there's microwaves in the area, so folks who bring their lunch but who want to eat with their colleagues who are buying food and use it as a gathering place.

Yup. Definitely rating the hospital cafeteria because it definitely surprised me. First of all, very cheap. I was expecting airport prices, but VERY affordable. Secondly, quality and flavor surprised me because my pasta and chicken wasn't terrible at all, unlike most cafeteria food. Overall, Renown cafeteria food didn't disappoint.

If you are reading this, than you are contemplating whether to go to the cafeteria in renown hospital or not. Surprisingly enough , the food is not bad for hospital cafeteria food and it is affordable. Unlike the Airport, it does not cost you a arm and a leg. There is a good selection of hot foods, sandwiches, burgers, quesadillas, and soups. There is a huge seating area with many tables. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hospital. The only negative I have is some food is cooked ahead of time, and put underneath a warming lamp. I think this happened because I showed up late . Overall the service was great, the food was good and the restaurant was clean. I hope not to be in hospital again , but if so I would eat here again. . .

Broccoli casserole was good, crab legs standard. My chicken wings was a little undercooked with pink in the middle but the rest of the entries make up for it. The buffet spread is pretty small compared to other buffets, and aside from the desserts, nothing really stood out. I tried to make the most of the all-you-can-eat crab, but the legs were watery and tough to get meat out of. The "sushi" options were limited (only two) and tasted stale, same with the shrimp & mussels. Basically any seafood or main meat dish had that "sitting out too long" flavor, and even the salad toppings tasted stale, which is never a great sign. The dessert station was the highlight.. much more variety, fresher, and genuinely tasty. That said, it was oddly set up with many items behind glass, requiring staff assistance, while everything else is self-serve. The ice cream station could also use more topping options. On a positive note, the service was great - friendly & attentive. Overall, while the discount and service are nice, I couldn't find a main course that would bring me back. Probably a one-and-done for me.

This place is so UNDERRATED! Such a peaceful atmosphere, consistent food, and chill staff; I can't…read morebelieve that Washoe Public House isn't getting the hype it deserves! The eating area is very spacious and commodious. Though this place has a casual vibe, the presentation of the food is totally fine-dining material. Each dish, especially the Citrus glazed salmon, is served as a piece of art. I've been here around three times before I installed yelp, and am excited to finally leave a review. The short rib, was absolutely amazing. The short rib was so tender, and each brussels sprout was a literal flavor bomb. The brussels sprouts I've had at other places have flavor only on the exterior, whereas the brussels sprouts here play a different game. The short rib is served in a really big portion. Though it may look dark from the photos, there are actually three big pieces. I loved loved loved the sauce; there's a sweet tangy taste to it, though it reminded me a lot of BBQ sauce. This short rib was a win. Chefs kiss. The truffle lasagna was terrific; so much sauce in between the lasagna layers. I could absolutely make out the truffle flavor in this dish. However, I recommend eating this dish quickly, as the lasagna stiffens really quickly. Thirty minutes after it was served, I went it to take another bite, and it wasn't as good anymore. The ceasar salad +beef is a great choice for a light but filling meal when you're currently on a healthy diet. Each dish here comes in giant portions, but even after you finish this salad, it won't feel too heavy on your body. I think it's because Washoe is really light on the dressing levels; perfecting the amount so it doesn't overtake the fresh flavor of the greens or leave the salad bland and insipid. However, the beef was a bit too well done and on the firmer side. The first time coming here, I was totally shocked to find out that the food they served did not match the relaxed and informal vibe the setting sets up. Not a bad thing at all. Creates a laid-back vibe while still getting high quality food.

Our most recent visit was dinner to celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary. It still maintains it's casual atmosphere. The entrance has shifted to the Ridge Street side of the building. A good decision. It always felt a bit cramped to check in in the bar area especially when they are busy. Dining area is now mostly in the back room. While the setting is casual, the food is upscale - including the burgers. They offer game meats, elk, kangaroo, venison, and wild boar, in addition to high end beef and a small selection of seafood. They also have a few vegetarian/vegan options. I had the Citrus Glazed Salmon with root vegetables and squash. It was very good. The salmon was fresh and and flaky and perfectly cooked. My husband had the Rock Candy Short Rib. He deemed it "acceptable" Mine was paired with a light dry Savengon Blanc. Service was good and our satisfaction was checked. I debated between a 4 or 5 star experience - I decided on 5 mostly due to the quality of the meal. Return visit? Yes.

The queso fresco was a bit tangy, and helped offset the richness of the rest of the meal. They blew it on the eggs. I love it when the yolk drips down into my food. There was a short wait; it was somewhat busy, but not as busy as it should have been for a Saturday night. I had the baked potato with the beef, and opted for the three-meat sampler. The potato was a good size with decent presentation, and perfectly made. The sampler seemed smaller, with very small meat portions--pulled pork, brisket, and finally pork ribs. I dug into my potato, which was cooked perfectly, but the brisket was all fat--I mean all fat. My husband's brisket was also all fat, along with large fat chunks in the pulled pork. I couldn't eat the pulled pork, so left pretty much the entire portion. The ribs were the top of the rack with four ribs; again, the top one was all fat, and the other three were pretty good. The dry rub could have used a bit more salt, but overall, it was tasty. The server was a bit annoyed when I shared my observation after the meal.
