Been visiting a few buffets around Reno lately, because who doesn't love getting your multiple plate and 11 course meal groove on? I for one love my dining cuisine like I love my romances, plentiful and leaving me desiring nothing but to drift off into deep blissful slumber. Well here at the J casino I can assure you that even though this buffet doesn't look like much at first glance it packs a powerful wallop. There is no skipping the line, even if you are a higher tiered member. I actually like that because I find it to be fair. Just the way the good lord intended we eat at places of convenience. Luckily the line wasn't too long and the person behind the register was swift. Next our server was great! Her name was Janet and she also works as a nurse practitioner for elderly people, and you would think that would make her slower or perhaps a little too exhausted to keep at it, but to our surprise she was beyond helpful and the service was excellent. The buffet has crab legs, mini pizzas, salads, pastas, and desserts there's plenty of variety and lots of friendly faces to assist you if you should need anything. The overall environment seems eager to help. Very much recommended this place, it's one of my new staples in my diet. read more

I appreciate that they offer a solid perk of 20% for locals most days. Unfortunately, the food itself didn't live up to it. The buffet spread is pretty small compared to other buffets, and aside from the desserts, nothing really stood out. I tried to make the most of the all-you-can-eat crab, but the legs were watery and tough to get meat out of. The "sushi" options were limited (only two) and tasted stale, same with the shrimp & mussels. Basically any seafood or main meat dish had that "sitting out too long" flavor, and even the salad toppings tasted stale, which is never a great sign. The dessert station was the highlight.. much more variety, fresher, and genuinely tasty. That said, it was oddly set up with many items behind glass, requiring staff assistance, while everything else is self-serve. The ice cream station could also use more topping options. On a positive note, the service was great - friendly & attentive. Overall, while the discount and service are nice, I couldn't find a main course that would bring me back. 11/6/25- Was online today and when I read it was throwback Thursday-I knew we had to stop in.. Funny they had tuna casserole- I just made and chili Mac.. Where to start- bummed no thousand island salad dressing.. But the prime rib and au jus make up for it- I don't usually eat but some reason I love it here- Five stars for the in house salt and vinegar chips!! Beef vegetable soup needs to be hotter.. J Resort's The Buffet has all you can eat crab legs daily along with themed food stations for $38.99 per person. On Tuesdays, they feature buy-one-get-one free! And, player card holders pay $3 less per person. It's a pretty awesome deal. I've only had great service at The Buffet. The waiters get our drink orders fulfilled and check on us regularly to remove dishes or refill drinks or offer coffee at the end of the meal. The ambiance is warm and inviting. Food stations are kept tidy and the myriad of desert offerings is always impressive. Our recent visit was on par. Food was decent, not great. Choices are good but it's a smallish buffet. However, the crab legs were delicious and they kept the tray filled. The desserts were awesome - cheesecake bites, fruit tarts, chocolate covered strawberries, blueberry cobbler, apple cinnamon bread pudding. Can't beat the All You Can Eat crab legs on a Tuesday. Roughly $20 pp with the BOGO, AMAZING deal.

Came for the BOGO buffet on Tuesday nights. We got there at about 6pm and had to wait in line for about 20 min, not terrible. Now we must say the service is super friendly! But they are very short staffed. Our waiter was wonderful but overwhelmed with the amount of people flooding in. It would take him 10-20 min to refill our drinks because of the amount of people. Now... the place was not clean. The floors were filthy with food, no matter where you stepped. The tables had leftover food for roughly an hour before the busboy came to clean it up. The food was mediocre at best... we were excited for the crab, BUT THE CRAB WAS SUUUUUPER SALTY and a bit dry, I felt like I drank the ocean. This made it borderline impossible to eat. We did not get seconds. (Maybe this is a strategy?) The prime rib on the other hand was decent, no complaints on it. We also tried the fish, very dry. The Thai shrimp was good. But the clams were so dehydrated, every other bite had pieces of shell or sand. My wife advised the clam chowder was actually really good, that it had a special seasoning to it. The dessert was actually the better half of the experience. Yes, by about 730, they stopped making things, but if you ask nicely, they might be able to fill some of your orders. The Buffet restaurant area is nice, bigger than it looks. The staff work hard and seemed to be always there to clear plates and offer refills. The buffet itself is not the biggest in the world but they seemed to have the right foods on offer so that you never felt you were missing out. The seafood selection is legit, with Crab Legs taking center stage. There is a strong offering of shrimp (prepared in a variety of ways), steamed clams and a couple types of fish. I can work with this. For the carnivores, Prime Rib is the star. The Prime Rib was very good, full of flavor but not dry nor over cooked. Along side of the prime rib was a Turkey Breast. They also served grilled chicken, Bulgoki style ribs and tradtional pork ribs. There was a full on Baked Potato Bar, with proper mutant sized potatoes with all the fixings. The dessert section seemed to go on forever, with a solid selection of cakes, tarts, mousse and other treats. There was soft serve ice cream and a large selection of freshly baked cookies. They kind of focus on clearing the buckets that you place your crab and other shells. This is a smaller buffet, but I felt there were so many food options that I didn't even get around to trying as I was focusing on the crab legs. The ambiance and modern is warm and inviting, maybe also due to the smaller size space. Food stations are kept tidy and the myriad of desert offerings is always impressive. The food for a buffet I felt was well seasoned, not typical bland buffet choices. Snow Crab legs were fresh and tasty and they kept the tray filled. They are served cold and they will place them in a quick steamer to be warmed 'a la minute' so they're not sitting in salty water in the tray. The desserts are kept behind glass cases and you have to request them. I think this makes a nicer presentation and insures more hygiene. Impressive array of choices: fruit, pie tarts, chocolate covered strawberries, cobbler, apple cinnamon bread pudding. The chocolate strawberries move quickly! I was surprised that the coffee (which was held in large thermal dispenser) was quite good, it goes well with their wide variety of desserts. Definitely worth a visit on a Tuesday evening. At $31.20 (with local discount) this also would've been worthwhile for Thanksgiving Day buffet. I think they also served crab legs in addition to traditional TDay foods. read more

The manager was great, we talked to her the day before we were going and she arranged for our entire party to just walk in, be seated and start eating! We decided to try out the buffet at J Resort tonight! Ambiance: 4/5 Food: 3.5/5 Service: 5/5 Dessert: 10/5 Food was alright. They were a bit too salty for my taste, but they put out smaller portions so the food seemed to stay fresh. Now, let's talk about crab legs. I didn't expect much, thinking it wouldn't have much meat (like most all you can eat crab legs offered at the buffets), but we were surprised how it was 80~85% full of meat! They ask you if you want your crab legs heated up, so that's an option! Prime rib was really good too! Buffet was smaller than the others, which meant their selections were smaller, but it doesn't necessarily mean bad! Dessert was the highlight! They had a TON of selections and we all agreed it was the best part! Their eclair and chocolate covered strawberries were soooo yummy! The restaurant itself was smally and had cozy feels. Absolute Scam and Disgusting Service at The Buffet in J Resort, Reno - NEVER GO HERE I almost never write reviews this harsh, but this place deserves every bit of it. For $30, Chinese buffets have way more food selection than this pathetic excuse for a buffet. If you actually want a real buffet with huge variety and decent quality, just spend the extra $20 and go to Atlantis instead. This place is a joke. But the food was only the beginning. The worst part was the service and outright theft. The second I sat down, my server (named Hasim) immediately asked what I wanted to drink. I said water. He started loudly arguing with me, pushing me to order soda instead. I came here to eat, not to fight with a waiter about what I'm allowed to drink! The real outrage came with the bill. At the entrance, I paid exactly $43.30 and clearly wrote $0.00 in the tip line. I never tip in advance -- I only tip in cash after good service, if it's deserved. A few days later I checked my bank account and saw they charged me $50 instead of $43.30. These crooks added a tip without my permission. This is straight-up illegal. It violates consumer protection laws, including the Nevada Unfair Trade Practices Act and federal Regulation E (Electronic Fund Transfer Act). Adding any charge, especially a tip, without the customer's explicit consent is theft. Tomorrow I'm going to my bank to file a formal dispute on this transaction. I will get my money back. And I promise I will be back at your "buffet" to take clear photos of your copy of the check with my signature showing I only authorized $43.30 with $0 tip. Went here on a Tuesday. Dinner for one. I have just finished my meal, and I will say the deserts are very good. The service was very good, one of the chefs greeted me which was pleasant. Broccoli casserole was good, crab legs standard. My chicken wings was a little undercooked with pink in the middle but the rest of the entries make up for it. Inside J Resorts, the Buffet is on the second floor above the escalator. It has every day price of 32.99 for adults and 16.99 for child. And the price includes soft drinks. Seating is spacious and they don't cram you together. Service is good as our used plates got cleaned up quickly and I can see our server working none stop among his tables and also chatting with his guests. The Buffet is good with desserts, crème brûlée is so good that I ate 2! A variety of tarts and pastries. They even have a cookie bar which in comparison to other items is a waste of calorie quota. The prime ribs are good, the BBQ ribs are soft and juicy. The clam chowder soup is loaded with clams but a bit too salty. The vegetables dishes are too salty, the suckling pig is too dry, the fish (rock fish and mahi mahi) are too dry and overcooked. Sushi was not available the whole dinner time we were there. The appetizer counter was very limited. There were no crab legs but 4 different styles of shrimps but were almost all gone. We had a party of about 10 and after about 30 Minutes of us eating this women in the photo rushed over to our table and accused us of sneaking a person in. She asked my husband 3x "Is it you? He had a hat on." After we kept telling her we don't know what she is talking bout she walked away super fast. After processing how disrespectful she was we met her at the front desk and asked her about her behavior and accusations. She turned her back to us and tried to ignore us. Food here was ok, not sure if it's because the food had been sitting so long. Wednesday was bbq day. Had some ribs, pulled port, and other items I don't recall. Prime rib was dry and I didn't see any au jus. Over all buffet price is pricey for lack selection. I will say their best items I tried were the soups, they were delicious, better than the other buffet I tried that week. Besides that the rest of the food was meh.I don't know if it's was the time we arrived or if that's just how the food is all day. We came because we thought we could get a locals discount unfortunately thats only offered Sunday thru Thursday. Still decided to stay to give it a try for the first time. The atmosphere is nice. The staff is very friendly, it's clean and there is lively music playing in the background. Our server Hachib is amazing (which we would give 5 stars to for customer service), however, the food is at a 3 star level. It's not all fresh. The beef stew tastes like it's out of a can, but the prime rib is good. The dessert looks pretty but the cupcake I got was a little hardened. The sticky pudding bread was the best. It's nice and warm and went well with vanilla ice cream on top. Overall I think there is room for improvement on the food offering so I am comfortably giving it 3 stars overall. If you're in the mood for prime rib and snow crab, then this is a great place to go. Buffet was $35 p/p (with locals discount) and although its a rather small buffet when compared to the much larger, more costly options in town, they did have some amazingly tender, perfectly medium-rare prime rib that honestly rivals that which I have paid a lot more for here in town. That alone is worth it in my book. Crab legs were good, albeit a bit hard to shell, but the flavor was spot on. Desserts were appreciated by all of us, and we'll definitely go back when craving more of that delicious prime rib. read more

My parents and I went to this buffet one night because my dad was interested in their crab legs. Compared to other buffets, this one is smaller with more limited dishes served. My dad says that if you are solely craving crab legs, then this is the place to go. In my opinion, I do think that the crab legs were super salty. Their other dishes did not seem fresh/were tough to eat (for example, the clams were tough to eat meaning they were overcooked and may have been sitting out for a long time). The prime rib was sliced quite thinly which compared to other buffets I've been to, they would give a generous size of prime rib instead. To preface, this buffet is a lot cheaper per person in comparison to other buffets. There is ample seating throughout the entire buffet. There are not too many tables, but we came when they opened at 4 pm, so we got a table no problem. There are a lot of choices. Salad bar, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, mac & cheese, baked potato, beed roast station, corn, zucchini, shrimp, crab, beef stew, chicken & dumplings, and a few other things. Our cashier was friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. The buffet area is small. Of course, if the food is outstanding you don't need a lot of options. However, the food was just subpar. The salad bar choices are minimal Next, I tried two of the three chicken wings they had. Both were tough to eat as if they had been sitting there for a long time. Several in our party had chicken pieces that were raw in the middle. Many of the dishes looked unappealing. The meatloaf needed more flavor than just ketchup on top. I tried a mustard gravy turkey but it too was lacking in flavor. The food itself fell short of expectations. From undercooked chicken to lackluster desserts. The dining options were limited and were unfortunately unappealing. It just seemed unplanned and random.... I was going to give this place a 2 before I bit into a drumstick and my family looked at the chicken bone and all said.... That's not cooked.... Someone went for another one, and it wasn't cooked either.... There was a man who asked one of the servers what kind of ribs they were serving and the server couldn't tell the gentleman what it was. It's hard to tell any restaurant how to operate, a business. But when your server responds with "well, it is my job" after you ask to get another flavor drink. As well as, "I'm going to kill my busser tonight?" It leaves your night to be more desirable with an over priced food experience. Ive been to this buffet 3 times now. The first two times I was raving to everyone about how great the food is. Last night I went here on a Wednesday. We checked the website and it was bbq night. Alright lets go! We gathered up the family and some friends and headed down for some good ole BBQ. We hop in line and it moves pretty quickly. Once we get to the register a couple friends pay and we notice hey on the large electronic screen behind you it says $29.99 with players card the normal price but you're charging us 35.99 or 36.99. I forget exactly but it was one of those. We tell the host hey the price is right behind you. He says oh we changed it 17 days ago at the start of the month. I say okay well you're advertising that price and for 12 people it would have made me change my mind. The host never honored the price, the website and internal postings all over the casino have not only the wrong price but the wrong items. That delicious BBQ we were expecting was also replaced with crab legs. I know some people are fond but my group we only had one that was excited and many more that were let down. Its pretty easy to update the price that's on the screen right behind you, change the website, or at least honor the price posted. I really wanted to like J Resorts but it seems like its business as usual with the Sands Resorts old ways. read more

I had salmon, prime rib, pork chop, veggies, Mac and cheese. The selections weren't that many. There were a salad, seafood, Italian, Mexican & American sections. But the dessert selection was my favorite. I kept coming back for more, because I wanted to try every kind they had. My favorite was the cheesecake. The service was so amazing and attentive. From the cashier, host, waitress to the servers. I think maybe over staffs and too little guest. Either way, that's good for me. I really appreciate everything the "J resort" has done to bring more value to our downtown Reno. If you're local and dining at any of their restaurants show your ID and ask for their local special Sunday-Thursdays for 25% off. They opened up their buffet in May of this year. We dropped in for the dinner the other night. The food selection and items were okay. Service was great and smaller seating area. The desserts were my favorite, but hey I have a sweet tooth. I hope they add more options to their dinner. read more
