Food taste good. They have wide variety of food selection for brunch. From American, Italian, Asian, Mediterranean and Mexican food they have it. Great selection of desserts too. My wife and I enjoyed the crab legs, mussels, prime rib and barbecue ribs, chicken and shrimp just a little dry. Pho noodle soup are made to order and ingredients are fresh. Service was awesome! Wait staff greeted us with a smile. Ambiance is cozy. Looks like people are enjoying eating and having conversation.

We love the Grand buffet located inside Grand Sierra Resort. One of the best buffets in Reno. Came with a large party on Valentines weekend around 6:30pm. Line was long, but moved pretty fast. We waited about 45 minutes. Once inside, our server was amazing. Crab legs were huge. Prime rob was cooked well and tender. And pho was heart warming. Plenty of desserts to choose from as well. Pro tip: get a GSR players club and use it for a discount at the buffet.

We have been going to the main ballroom for 3 years for Thanksgiving and it has everything you can imagine. Each it gets more expensive and the quality goes downhill. This year the price went up to $79 per person. The two things that were excellent were the bisque and the Beef Wellington. The filet was overcooked and burned on the outside. All the desserts were awful, literally tasteless, I just couldn't finish any of them. My family had the turkey and found it dry. Any drinks were not included with the meal which was annoying. We decided to pass on going to this one again and are going to look for a new spot.

After 10yrs I went back here with my family. The kids ate good. The steak is great, cooked perfectly! The omelette was cooked nicely. Tacos taste great! The Asian food was okay, I like the Siomai that most! My partner said it was 6/10. The seafood with snow crab legs are too fishy taste I ended up throwing all four legs. Dessert area my nieces enjoyed it! I like the truffle bar, I was excited for the canoli but the cream wasn't all the way just the tips. The mango was too sour. I enjoyed the strawberry mousse vegan cookies and the ice cream(cookies & cream). Overall, fam enjoyed.

Been here a few times but just mediocre. Nothing special besides the crab legs. There is a variety of food to chose from such as Asian, American, Italian, pho soup, tacos, and deserts and more. Its a convenient place to eat at when arriving at the hotel when you dont know what to eat or go outside the hotel. We basically ate the cold and heated crab legs. The waiter was quick at cleaning our tables each time we finished eating. I think we ate our money's worth.

5 stars only for our experience from Raul who was very attentive, super friendly and made sure our drinks were always full and our plates were cleared by the time we came back with another round of food. He really made our experience memorable with how kind he was. As for the food, a lot of options for stations- Asian, Italian, pho, American, carving, salad and desert, etc. however there was no MAC & cheese which was strange. My biggest concern was my undercooked chicken which scared me so I didn't eat it when I saw how pink it was. Traffic was mild for dinner, line was decent and the dining room was clean and not crowded. However more attention to the quality and consistency of food would be ideal. Overall, left feeling full and happy thanks to Raul!

This review is based on a FREE buffet earned on "Thursday gamble $300 for free buffet" night. Quality/Quantity - I overate... And I am a light eater. I soooo regretted it afterwards. Woke up the next day still feeling off. Might not eat for the next 3 days, lol. Following stations, I was not able to visit all as I just could not eat any more. Seafood - Okay, came here twice for that delicious crab! Mediterranean. Mongolian Grill. Asian Wok - Got a sample of chow mein, noodles. Pacific Rim. Pho Station - I skipped; it was too hot for soup. Italian - Got some delicious deep fried raviolis. Smoke House - My favorite station, got a rib, prime rib, etc. Taco Bar - Made to order, thank you. Americano. Saute Omelets, Pasta. Sweets - Got a little of everything. Make sure you get that delicious gelato, ice cream! Saturday and Sunday open for breakfast/brunch. Atmosphere - Decent size, I have been here during busy weekends when you have a full house. Today, even with a free buffet after losing $300, lol, the seating was still manageable. I have not been here in a while, as I just can NOT eat enough to justify the cost. Or worse, I eat myself sick as I did today... Which again, was NOT worth it. Plenty of stations, more Asian selections then I expected. Open 4 days a week see Yelp or website; closed Mondays to Wednesdays. Service - Just okay, basically self-service. Price - Free (after losing $300, lol) + generous tip. Otherwise $45+ tax for adults, which I feel is expensive for what you get. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success, we are only customers when we are hosting guests. But don't worry, we frequent all your other restaurants. :) And are still loyal customers to your casino.

    Burnt eggrolls - June 2025

The buffet was expensive on a Saturday dinner at $52 per person before tax and tip. Our server was not friendly and he had a "I didn't care" attitude throughout our meal. He made a comment that we were eating too long. At that time, we were at the 90 minute mark. No one mentioned to us how long we were allowed to dine. We thought that we were allowed 2 hours to eat. Right before we left, we handed him a $20 bill for tip and he was nicer to us but it was too late. We found out later from a cashier that it's only 90 minutes to dine. For this price, they need to allow 2 hours to dine. I wasted a lot of time waiting at the pho station. The lady was not nice either. Seem like she doesn't like her job. She also had the "I don't care" attitude. She made me wait for a long while when she left the station to get more bowls. The pho was just ok. I would say though the meat filling in the wontons were pretty good but the wonton skins were awful. The Chinese food was terrible. The eggrolls looked like they were re-fried many times. It was gross even looking at it! The best thing was the prime rib, steak and the desserts. We were really thirsty after dining. Would not return.

Since Covid, there hasn't been a buffet that I was interested in going to. I was invited to the Grand Buffet and can now say, it's one of my go-to! For transparency, I visited on "Lobster night," where each guest had one ticket to a lobster and unlimited crab dishes. It was $69.00 per adult and $34.00 per child. I encourage anyone going to this buffet to look online/social media for special nights. Regardless, all of the normal food options were pretty tasty! I found myself enjoying the variety offered and went back for seconds. Will be recommending this buffet when asked, what's the best buffet in Reno/Sparks?

Time tax: Unless you are rolling with someone in a higher tier of the players club you are going to wait. Sad but true, Maybe I was at fault for arriving as late as I did around 7:20pm but I wasn't sat until closer to 8:30. The line was peculiar. So many people skipped ahead. There was only one person at the register. Occasionally the nice blonde manager lady would come over and ring a few parties up, the line went fast for a few seconds, but the chap at the register only worked fast when the manager came by. Otherwise he took his sweet time, he'd only rush if another VIP waiting to skip the line showed up. It was often, this buffet is popular and the skippers show up in force, especially late. Server Attention Tax: the servers on a normal day work hard, they close at 9:00, they warn you when 9 approaches and it's a wrap, on the seafood buffet days they are not motivated, because they stay late. They act like they aren't getting paid for the extra time. I sat down around 8:25 and no one took my drink order till like 8:40. I was worried I would get a single plate but to my surprise they didn't shut down shop right at 9:00 in fact they were still seating people. So that was cool. But the servers are in no rush. I don't want to get all Mr. Rogers about it, but if you get me my beverages sooner, I'll get out of your hair sooner, you are literally prolonging your own suffering here. The seafood Tax Rebate: the seafood is good, fresh fish, crab legs and all the regular sides. Crab is offered seasoned crab boil style or plain steamed, make sure to wander around. Overall: I love to eat good, I'm not crazy about flights, hotels or hardware stores because I don't think value necessarily is affected by where you go. (There are a few exceptions) I think service flavors cuisine, Here the service isn't adding a respectively great flavor. Sure if you spend a lot of money here you should get some priority but even Vegas doesn't forget about the little guy. I felt sorry for the people with kids in the line. Even though my server was slower than forest growth I still tipped them. But like value lost the taste was unpleasant. If you don't like being exposed to prejudice I assure you the 'regular line' WILL make you feel like you have no civil rights. But if you're able to suffer all that for a few rounds of delicious crab then you should go right on ahead, don't let me stop you

I for one love my dining cuisine like I love my romances, plentiful and leaving me desiring nothing but to drift off into deep blissful slumber. Well here at the J casino I can assure you that even though this buffet doesn't look like much at first glance it packs a powerful wallop. There is no skipping the line, even if you are a higher tiered member. I actually like that because I find it to be fair. Just the way the good lord intended we eat at places of convenience. Luckily the line wasn't too long and the person behind the register was swift. Next our server was great! Her name was Janet and she also works as a nurse practitioner for elderly people, and you would think that would make her slower or perhaps a little too exhausted to keep at it, but to our surprise she was beyond helpful and the service was excellent. The buffet spread is pretty small compared to other buffets, and aside from the desserts, nothing really stood out. I tried to make the most of the all-you-can-eat crab, but the legs were watery and tough to get meat out of. The "sushi" options were limited (only two) and tasted stale, same with the shrimp & mussels. Basically any seafood or main meat dish had that "sitting out too long" flavor, and even the salad toppings tasted stale, which is never a great sign. The dessert station was the highlight.. much more variety, fresher, and genuinely tasty. That said, it was oddly set up with many items behind glass, requiring staff assistance, while everything else is self-serve. The ice cream station could also use more topping options. On a positive note, the service was great - friendly & attentive. Overall, while the discount and service are nice, I couldn't find a main course that would bring me back. Probably a one-and-done for me.

After nearly 10 months of planning, I expected the basics to be handled correctly. When we checked in, we were given a double room instead of the King room we reserved. I went back to the front desk and was told that because they were oversold for Thursday night, there was no way to move us into a King room at all during our stay. That explanation didn't make much sense--they confirmed they had King rooms available Tuesday and Wednesday, but because of the Thursday overbooking, they couldn't honor the reservation for any of the nights. So even though I booked months in advance and had already arrived, I was effectively bumped in favor of guests who hadn't even checked in yet. To make matters worse, only 2 out of 5 elevators were working the entire stay, which led to long waits (up to 20 minutes to get down in the morning) and added frustration. After the fact, I looked through other reviews and saw that this seems to be an ongoing issue, not a one-off situation. Between the reservation not being honored and the operational problems, it was a pretty disappointing experience overall. Skip this place.

The first visit, service was warm and timely. Food was great. The second time we had gone, a few instances made our visit a bit uncomfortable due to the service and food quality. When we first arrived, the grill had white bubbles upon being fired up. The server grabbed us another when we asked but her tone while informing us it was normal was passive aggressive, almost as if our request was weird and inconvenient. She would come up later to critique our grilling because our gas went out a few times but I think the one we were sat at wasn't working well as this had not happened before here or any other kbbq spot we've visited. After this, it seemed like we were a burden. We asked for a plate to place cooked meat away from the raw ones and it seemed like the supervisor for the night came up to us for this. She asked why we would need one and then snapped that they couldn't due to something like they were already portioned. We were there 4 hours before closing, there didn't seem to be any wait up front, and yet 1.5 hours in and the server became more insistent on checking on us (they only came up twice prior to this after we flagged them down). On top of this, the food quality since the last time had declined just as much. The rice cakes weren't cooked fully and cold, the cheese for the corn cheese rubbery, and ice cream freezer burnt. For the price of $40 (where we do the cooking mind you), you would expect better efficient service and food. We will not be visiting again.

I first received the oysters. It had arrived with an empty serving vessel, which was supposed to be filled with the mignonette sauce. Tori quickly fixed this mistake. The oysters met expectations in terms of freshness and quality. They were very delicious with the mignonette sauce, cocktail sauce, and lemon juice. Then, I received the Lobster Tomato Bisque. The soup was lacking in flavor and needed help in the seasoning department. I grabbed the peppercorn grinder, which was readily available at the table. Upon twisting the grinder, a lot of peppercorns fell into the soup unfortunately. I kindly requested that Tori replace the soup. A nearby table had the same situation, where an individual had a bunch of pink salt spill over the baked potato dish. Tori was also their server. I noticed that Tori pointed at me and mentioned to the party that I did the same action. When making that observation, I was quite embarrassed. I understood that Tori was trying to make the other table feel better but the finger-pointing provided a slightly unpleasant feeling to me. I finally received the Filet Mignon & Jumbo Shrimp with Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes as the entree. However, it took a total of 1.5 hours to arrive at the table. It was quite long and a little frustrating, especially since I've noticed that a couple of parties that seated after me ordered the same meal deal and their food arrived before mine. The steak and shrimp were delectable. The green beans were bland (used butter, pepper + salt) and the mashed potatoes were decent in flavor. All in all, the evening at Boomtown Steakhouse was underwhelming. From the food taking a while to come out, sitting down at a wobbly table, the soup tasting bland, and the overall hospitality from Tori, the experience left some room to be desired. At the end, I truly appreciated the complimentary chocolate mousse dessert. This offering made up slightly for everything that had transpired. I don't recommend visiting this restaurant on a holiday, including Mother's Day. When I decide to return here, it will be on a regular weekday.

It has a wonderful and quiet ambience. It has always had great food for a great price. It's a little hidden but well worth the drive. Hard to believe it's been almost ten years since we last ate here. Service has always been wonderful. There were 8 of us in our party. We came to celebrate two birthdays and to try the early bird special. Our waiter, Chris, was wonderful. Thanks, Chris, for making our visit so wonderful. The early bird special is a 6 oz. Filet Mignon in a demi glace and three jumbo shrimp, mashed potatoes, and seasonal vegetables for $29 with a player's card. That is a great price. It is regularly $40.00. First, some of us started with soup. My daughter and son raved about the French onion soup. My husband and I had the Lobster bisque. The lobster had a lot of lobster in it. It was a surprise to see how much lobster was in the soup. After the soup palate cleanser, Raspberry sorbet that comes with or without Champagne. All but one had it with Champagne. The steak is seasoned well and cooked to perfection (medium rare). I savored every delectable bite. It was so tender; It could have cut it with a fork. It pairs well with mashed potatoes and the green beans that came with the meal. We all raved about our meals and said we would be back. Not to mention it was beautifully presented and styled on the plate. My sister-in-law's Halibut was superior. The flavor was divine. The size of the fillet was huge. See my photo. It was moist and tender. She said it was one of the best she had ever had. My uncle-in-law had the Shrimp linguine which he loved. He was not able to eat the huge meal. He had leftovers which he brought home. The two birthday people received a birthday cheesecake with the words Happy Birthday on it. Our party decided to get the Chocolate Toffee Mousse Cake and Tiramisu. Both were rich and decadent. The toffee mousse cake was like a fudge mousse. Definitely a go-to if you like chocolate desserts. The Tiramisu was the hands-down favorite. The Tiramisu was so beautifully plated. See the photo. Everyone had a bite and was quite full and pleased when we left. Be sure to call for reservations for parties larger than four. Needless to say, Chris is an excellent waiter. Thank you, Chris, for making our visit so lovely.

All staff working Thursday evening were very attentive and brought back more Medium well/well cooked meats for my daughter which I appreciated. She's picky as it is. All kids ate very well and glad they ate more protein than carbs. I was glad hubby wanted to have his birthday dinner here. I was in picanha and perfectly cooked sirloin heaven. I stayed away from the bar and only ate the grilled meats. Christine brought us garlic mashed potatoes, polenta and the plantains. Our kids didn't even want to touch the bread, but they managed to save room for dessert. No shock there, but I told them they're missing out. I was bummed the kids shared with me on the way home that they found a long dark hair in their garlic mashed potato plate and that's why they didn't eat it. This had been the only mishap here. Overall, it was still a nice birthday dinner celebration. Thanks to everyone serving us meats and to Christine; You were all great.

Once we were seated, our order was taken almost immediately. Service was efficient and prompt. It wasn't particularly friendly, but it wasn't rude either, it felt very much like the staff was focused on turning tables quickly, which is understandable when a place is that busy. What I didn't expect was the flavors of the dishes. Each one seemed to have an unusual sweetness that didn't feel typical for Taiwanese food. From the Mapo Tofu to the salted fish fried rice and even the Taiwanese popcorn chicken, they all had a noticeable sweetness to them. Maybe I'm a bit spoiled by the variety of Asian food options we have living in the San Francisco Bay Area, but the flavors here just didn't quite match what I usually expect from Chinese/Taiwanese
