They really let their knowledge and personality shine through, making the experience from the second you walk in through the door. I've been here a few times and no matter the employee, they know their stuff (especially the guy who says he's an expert [I believe it!]). Ambience: As anyone else, I value cleanliness in a shop. Their surfaces are all maintained to a nice cleanliness: workers are keeping customer spaces clean, they wipe their counters frequently. The redolence of coffee is wonderful. Food & Drink: Each time I come here, I grab a seasonal drink and their blueberry cream cheese danish. Now, I am a person quite picky with coffee: there needs to be a balance if there are extra flavours present in the drink, and this shop nails it. I ordered their orange cardamom (I forgot the name!) latte, and it is one of the most favorite drinks I've historically tried. I love all of the pastries at Perenn, but the chocolate bouchons are truly exceptional, and if you want to splurge, the grab-and-go freezer is great, too. My wife is also a huge fan of their matcha. Specifically, they do a coconut cloud matcha, which is a base of lightly sweetened coconut water topped with a matcha foam. It's perfectly sweet and incredibly refreshing on a warm day. The ambiance here is perfectly upscale and accessible. The decor is very chic, and their outdoor patio space is very nice. The service is always great, and though there can be a huge line, it often moves quickly. My only wish for Perenn would be that I could visit more often! While they have expanded, more locations and lower pricing could make them a truly exceptional stand-out bakery with accessibility for all.

For an independent bakery scraping by, that makes complete sense. For a thriving six-location restaurant group with real momentum and expansion capital, it feels like a bridge too far. The brand story and the people behind it are genuinely compelling, that content should be how you invite customers deeper into your world, not an additional revenue line. The food earns five stars. The Substack paywall earns a raised eyebrow. Share your story freely, you've clearly earned the audience.

We had three other servers stop to ask if we needed anything or wanted to give our order, and once we made up our mind the waiter who helped us did a fantastic job. No pen or notepad, he remembered our order with full detail and not one mess up. As we finished out appetizer, sides, and meal he continued to come by and take our plates, refill our water and my coffee. He was on point. By the end of the meal I paid the bill and gave him a cash tip and thanked him. He seemed happy and thanked us for stopping in and conversing with him.
