Food: I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes combo which can with three eggs and you get the choice of 2 bacons and 2 sausages or 4 bacons/sausages. The chocolate shop pancakes were pretty good and not overly sweet. The eggs and sausage were perfectly cooked. Everything I got only cost about $7 and it kept me full until dinner. Definitely worth the price! Service: The lady server was very nice and patient with my friends and I. Very funny as well and the food came out fairly quick. We found our spot! We are transplants from Sacramento and have struggled to find a quick casual spot with good food and good prices! Counter service and seat yourself. Restaurant is always full but the turnover is fast and you'll be able to get a seat fairly quickly. They also come around with hot coffee. read more

Shorty'z is acceptable if you like Kid's Menu-type food: Bland and really lame..... Standard and unremarkable burger joint with standard and unremarkable food. I had the sausage breakfast burrito and a side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were dense and hard, the gravy had a weird yellow tint to it and tasted like someone's abstract idea of gravy might be. Authentic country style gravy it ain't. The burrito was forgettable, at best. Not too "potatoey" (know how too many breakfast burritos are 80% hash browns? This one wasn't), but after I asked for salsa, I was handed little plastic cup of chopped tomato and onion. Pathetic and inexcusable. I would have had a better breakfast dumpster diving at Denny's. The best part about this experience was the Pepsi, which almost actually tasted like Pepsi. $15 and 45 minutes of my life I'll never get back, but at least it was hot.... read more

On our way up to Pasadena for our early 'Christmas Day' celebration with family, my husband and I Yelped for a place to grab a quick late breakfast and found Shorty'z. Tucked into the corner of a plaza parking lot, it certainly isn't much to look at nor would I have pulled off the road to check it out had it not been for Yelp, but the reviews were so good we couldn't resist. The inside is small but clean, and on that Saturday morning was packed with patrons at every table, as well as some on the outside patio. The line was a few people deep, giving us a chance to look over the menu while we waited. We decided to split the veggie breakfast burrito so as not to spoil our appetites for lunch, and it was a great choice! Filled with hashbrowns, eggs, mushrooms and some other veggies, we topped each half with their house salsa (yum) and were fully satisfied. Coffee (regular and decaf) was in carafes on the drink bar, and was nothing to write home about. The employee at the register was very friendly and on top of it, and you could see good communication happening behind the counter. We always like to try new places so this was rated well and decided to go for breakfast. I usually like to sit down and be served but it worked out ordering at the counter. I had a burrito with the hashbrowns on the side, the salsa was really good and I asked for sour cream and they gave it to me with no problem. My husband had eggs over easy, along with ham etc. and he ate it. The coffee was good and they did come by to fill my cup. We went about 930 on Saturday and it's a good thing as it got pretty crowded. They have nice seating outside but it was too cold and there was no heat heat source. Shortyz reminds me of a mom and pop store next to my house growing up. They had the best breakfast / lunch meals, and they were reasonably priced. Its just pure nostalgia. The highlight of this place for me is their amazing breakfast burrito. It has everything that i want: bacon, egg, hashbrown and cheese. They never skimp on the toppings, and they somehow add this tasty, buttery taste to the tortilla. if they cook this in butter, no wonder why its fantastic! For my lunch menu, i love me a mushroom swiss burger. This burger is amazingly good, and they dont shy from the mushroom like other places do. This with some fries will leave you in a lunch food coma for a good while. My only complaint is they close so dang early. I was blessed with this place from being able to work from home for awhile, and now that i go back to work i can never have it again Until next time Shortyz! read more
