Came here with the fam while visiting my sister at CSUF. Upon walking in, I was blown away by the price point of their menu items. It's a nice brunch spot, where you order first and then find a table. Service was amazing. They brought out all our food pretty much at the same time and were very accommodating when we told them that we had ordered pancakes instead of french toast. They came back shortly after with the pancakes that we ordered. I love shops that put their customers first! Food was just as delicious. Though most breakfast menu items are typically the same, it's in the simplicity of the dish that makes this place good. All the dishes came out piping hot and everything was nice and flavorful, but not heavy. We all ate about half our plates, so we had enough leftovers for another meal later in the day. Honestly, if judging this place specifically on this type of style restaurant, I'd give it a 5. Gauging it overall as a restaurant, it's a solid 4! We split the chicken fried steak, over easy eggs, hash browns extra crispy, and sourdough toast. It was all delicious, and again the service was fast! Especially for how busy it was. Now this is a place I can rely upon to deliver a straight forward classic American charbroiled cheese burger and a side of fries that does not disappoint. Prices are reasonable and comparable to what you'd pay at a typical drive through but you're getting much higher quality here than the standard drive through chain offers. Passing by other patrons eating breakfast, all the food in side looks yummy. This breakfast place did not disappoint. I decided to opt out of the free breakfast at my hotel and look for a good basic breakfast nearby. I had the pancake combo, which is a lot of food at a very reasonable price. The pancakes would be average back in PA, but are great for CA, where only a handful of places can make a basic pancake. (We can't discuss flavor if you don't cook it all the way through. Do that first.) The eggs and bacon are also good. Service is great, and you'll be in and out in no time. Good stuff. read more

We are regulars at Shorty's for breakfast on Saturday's. We always share an omelet with crispy hash browns and rye toast. It hits the spot! Sometimes they will put it on 2 plates. Came here looking for a breakfast/brunch place around the area. The area is super low key and in the corner of a plaza. Inside the restaurant is pretty small too and it's usually pretty packed. You order and pay for your food first then find a seat. Because it's super packed you have to wait until someone leaves in order to find a table. The waitresses tell me that usually after you order your food you'll find a table and seating is pretty quick. There is also seating outside. The menu is pretty affordable and yummy. I had the French toast and ham omelette with hash browns and wheat toast. Definitely enough for two people. They also have burgers and fries if you're not into breakfast foods. The family that owns and runs this restaurant take pride in what they are doing. You can taste it in the food and see it in the faces of the ones who serve you. I liked the little signs around the restaurant that have that light touch of humor... kind of like the misspelling of the name "Shorty'z". I had the chicken fried steak with hash browns. They put sausage gravy on it. The crust of the steak was delicious and crispy. Sofie's sausage scramble was also good. The coffee was tolerable, but not great. This place is awesome! A true local diner that the city of Fullerton has fully embraced and Shorty's hasn't disappointed them. I came here for breakfast which ended up being a great pick. I went with the daily special which included: 2 French Toasts, 3 eggs (cooked to order), 2 sausages and 2 bacon all for $6! A fantastic restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and if you're an early bird, dinner! Have been going there for years, and throughout my time at CSUF I would take my friend weekly, making sure to actually plan my school schedule around it! For lunch I highly recommend the gyro! The owner and his family are Greek and the tzatziki sauce is made in house every morning! Also the onion rings are a MUST HAVE!! For breakfast the corned beef hash, and if you're nice enough, you might even be able to convince them to put the hash in a burrito! Not only is the food great, but the service and staff are really what keeps me coming back, if you don't believe me just watch how the owner stops by each table and chats with everyone (when the line isn't out the door)! The breakfast burrito was not disappointing at all and was filling. I ordered a bacon burrito with avocado and it was perfect! Tortilla was nice and had that light crisp. Some breakfast burritos can be greasy and this was not. It was nice and proportioned evenly and with the added avocado each bite had avocado with it. Salsa they give you is good as well.
