We have a tradition of parent-child date nights in our house, and tonight was Father-Daughter date night. My daughter loves Indian food, but I had not taken here here yet (I have been several times over the years). Keep in mind we went with the intention of bringing home leftovers for the rest of the family and for lunch. This also allows us to sample a variety of dishes when going to a new restaurant. We had two servers, but Ni-Shae (sp?) was our primary and took great care of us. The entire staff was friendly, attentive and quick. We started with a the Keema Samosa and Gobi Pakora. Both came out quickly and piping hot. Both had very good flavor and crunch. I definitely liked the spice of the lamb in the samosa, but the cauliflower was also excellent. For entrees we started with both garlic and cheese naan. As my daughter put it, they set the bar for naan at this spot. It was some of the fluffiest naan I have ever had. To get a full range of dishes we tried the lamb rogan josh (hot) which had a great flavor and very tender lamb, but was not as spicy as I expected. My daughter loves vindaloo so we decided to try the shrimp vindaloo (med). Again this had great flavor with well cooked shrimp and potatoes, but I personally could have used a bit more vinegar or acid, as that is what I am used to in a vindaloo. For a veggie dish we tried the aloo gobi (hot) and this was our favorite of the night. It had a great spice level, but not enough to overpower the dish, and both the cauliflower and the potatoes were tender but not mushy. I dread overcooked potatoes and veggies. Finally, on a whim, my daughter wanted to try the egg biryani. This was a surprise to me, as I had never ordered it before. It had a lovely warm spice and aroma and was a perfect compliment to the rest of the dishes. Overall, another very nice meal at Sher-e-Punjab. read more

Read several encouraging reviews & was seeking Indian food. Restaurant has been renovated and has a clean, cool look with something being streamed on a wall. Some sections can't view it. Beautiful bound menu containing a wide selection of dishes. Opted for a ground lamb curry preceded by vegie samosas. 2 large samosas, not greasy & quite tasty. Main dish was meh- ordered medium spice. Rice was great- fluffy, not sticky. Generous portions that was enough for 2 people. Interesting wait staff. Some are very outgoing and counter balance other stand-offish staff. This delightful restaurant has been a Tucson staple for decades, and there is a definite reason for its continued success - outstanding fare!!!! First, let's talk about the interior. This restaurant is pretty! Beautiful lighting, white quartz tables, comfortable seating, and it is clean!!! Not like, oh, the tables are wiped down and there is nothing on the seats. No, it is clean! The floors are clean, there is no dust, and there is sanitizer on every table (go Covid). The menus are clean, and there is someone always going around wiping things down. Clean! There is a large bar, and a couple of TVs playing sports (no judging - I'm a fan), and then there is the huge screen and projector playing Indian pop music videos (which I happen to love - I'm totally into the well-acted videos and catchy tunes). Ok - eats! Glasses of water were brought, and our drink orders taken (very reasonable pricing, too), and then the search starts for what to order. It's a large menu - so many appetizing looking dishes. I don't know why, but my husband only lets me order five dishes. I think I should be able to order at least 10, but there are only two of us. Bummer. But, we make some pretty solid choices. Tandoori chicken, lamb curry, the chef's special biryani (we ordered that hot), an okra dish, and both plain and cheese naan (the other dishes we ordered medium). Food comes out pretty quickly, and it is carried out on a large tray by a petite woman (she's strong!!!). Shame on me for not taking a picture of the food in the serving dishes. Two bowls of basmati rice accompany the dishes (thank goodness, and the rice is super long grain). We fill our plates with the colorful array of tasty dishes, and it smells heavenly! And then we start eating. Now, we can handle heat - like really well. Warning - the medium spice sneaks up on you pleasantly, and then builds (thank goodness for wine and water). And it is so good! The biryani has lamb, chicken, and shrimp, and the meat is not dried out and the shrimp is still succulent. The okra dish is still crispy and super well-prepared. The curry is filled with tender pieces of lamb in a great sauce. The tandoori chicken is super moist, and it is served with onion and peppers on a sizzling hot plate (not too unlike fajitas, but so much better). The naan has a nice char, and it is pillowy soft and easily able to scoop up the curry sauce and other bites. This is some seriously great food!!!! My husband also got pistachio kufti, but my favorite kheer was sold out (my only sadness of the evening). The kufti was tart, like a yogurt base), and it was refreshing. Service is attentive without being cloying. Everyone is polite, and there is ample staff to take care of the dining room and the hopping to-go order area. We'll definitely return, and maybe I can talk my husband into more dishes, because the menu is epic!!! read more

I have been coming to Sher-e-Punjab for YEARS now! The food is absolutely delicious! And my favorite part is the consistency! Thats why I keep returning. My absolute favorite dish to start with are the samosas! Their are 2 per order and they come with a Jalapeño sauce and a Tamarind Sauce. I oove bith the sauces. I normally always order the Veggie samosas but today i decided to be more adventurous and order the Keema Samosas, which are made with Lamb and omg! I am kicking myself for not getting these sooner. They are full of so much flavor. Love them! I Always order the Chicken Tikka Masala (medium in spicyness). Comes with a side of white rice and its pairs perfectly together. My husband order the Shrimp Masala (extra spicy) and he loved it as well. Unfortunately i forgot to include a picture but we also order 2 cheese Naan Breads and 3 Lavander Naan. Stunning! The customer service here is always outstanding. Everyone is so friendly and always make sure that your meal and experience is the best. I will keep returning here over and over. Ordered delivery through Grubhub, which I dont reccomend due to timeliness. I will say my food was still piping hot upon delivery. It was packaged very well. Tandoori Chicken, Rice Pilaui, Keema (lamb) Samosa, Garlic Naan, and Veggie Samosa. All extremely flavorful and delicious. If you dont care for spicy stay away from the Veggie Samosa. The Samosas came with two dipping sauces. One which was very sweet but paired great with the spiciness of the Veggie Samosa. The green one I did not try, I was afraid of the spice. LOL You definitely get what you pay for. The Tandoori Chicken was tasty, but the breast was dry. The rice was cooked perfect and so glad I ordered it with the chicken. Omg. Something happened to my favorite little India hole in the wall. One of my favorite items to get is their vegetarian soup. This with some of their nann flat bread is the best way to start the dinner meal. But something changed. The soup had a lot of unidentifiable items and bits of food. My partner said it looked as if they may have used some of the leftovers from the appetizers. I'm afraid she might be right as there were a lot of starchy bits throughout. It was hard to discern any veggies except for the frozen ones I had as a child & grew up avoiding! The nann hard a very strange texture. Hard to describe, except they had put some kind of filler in the flour to make it lighter. It didn't work for me or my partner. Just a odd unexpected surprise. We also ordered the sampler plate for samosas, pakoras and a few other delights. The samosas didn't show up on the plate. All the items on the sampler plate were heavier & oiler than I recalled. The sauces they put out were good. Well, overall I left saddened of heart. Palak chicken- chicken in puréed spinach, onion, tomato, ginger, garlic and spices. #25. Tikka Masala - chicken broiled in tandoor, cooked with masala sauce #70. Paneer Bhurji - cheese pureed with spinach onion chili and spices. #94. Garlic Naan. Naan bread with garlic. We had to order rice as well as take out even though it comes with these meals if eaten in. Why? We asked that it be prepared with medium spice. It was so mild that we agreed it was bland. After moving to a new state and sorely missing my favorite Indian buffet I am happy to say I have found Sher-E-Punjab. I went for the lunch buffet on a Wednesday and walked in to a bustling dining room. Families and solo patrons alike eating the freshly prepared and authentic Indian cuisine. The selection at the buffet offered several vegetarian options as well as meat, an array of sauces (tamarind is my favorite), samosas and salad and of course a classic dessert. The flatbread in particular really impressed me with its texture and flavor. The chefs brought out fresh dishes many times throughout my meal ensuring that the buffet selection was hot and delicious. We ordered take out delivery of three vegetarian items, garlic naan and papadum - The three items came with ample rice but so few vegetables it seemed we had received only sauces for the rice. The papadum was broken and the naan of course was great. The dal was so watery that it seemed like another dish entirely. The cost of this meal was NOT cut rate but rather pricey compared to competitors. To say we were disappointed is putting it mildly. This restaurant has a great reputation so perhaps it was an off night, still I will get my Indian fix elsewhere from now on. read more

Always piping hot and fresh tasting. The Baingan Bharta is amazing. The flavors of eggplant were so good and the crunch of onions made this dish stand above the rest. I always love the Palak Paneer Aloo and I give the cheese to my pig. I love the spinach it's full of spices and flavor. My friend got the chicken masala and she said it was dry but flavors was good. She liked mine better. I've tried all the naan and I prefer the regular since most of the flavors are full of garlic in the sauces. read more

My husband and I have a favorite Indian food restaurant in Dallas called India Palace which we used to break the Indian restaurants that we go to. When we walked in the restaurant it was nicely decorated - they have an Indian movie playing on the large wall behind the seating area which I thought was nice - I love indian movies. As for the food we got a variety of different dishes so that we could taste and see what our favorite was including: tikka marsala, curry chicken, curry shrimp, biryani rice, naan bread, chana aloo, saag panner, etc. Everything was excellent, and I would order it again, except for the saag paneer! I don't like soggy or mushy like baby food consistency food. I like saag with more spinach texture so, - that would be the only recommendation that I would make - that they change the saag! read more

This is one of my go to places for Indian food. I always get Chana masala at every Indian restaurant and this place does it right. Plenty of gravy and spices. Their fried cauliflower appetizer is also pretty good with the dipping sauces. My one complaint, and I've had this issue at some other restaurants as well, is that if I say spice level medium, there's no spice at all. However if I say slice level medium, it's near inedible. It's waaaaaay too spicy. So I wish there was a mild-medium or something so I can feel a kick but not a crazy hot burn. read more

The food is delicious. I recently discovered this place. I have been eating there 2-3x's a week. Today I bit into a 2.5" long stiff black wire. I think I may have wallowed a smaller piece of wire too. I sent them a picture of the wire for them to determine what happened and get back to me. They never asked if I was ok. Let me start this review by saying just about a year ago I DESPISED Indian food both for its lack of ability to knead spice into flavor and for the horrifying things it does to my bowels....well before I discovered this place of course. My friend dragged me here for dinner one day insisting that I was wrong about Indian food and that this place did it right. After one simple meal, I learned that he was right and everything I thought I knew about Indian food was a lie!!! We started with a delicious Kingfisher beer which was just unbelievably good. Nice, creamy head with the perfect amount of carbonation and a deep, delicious malty finish. We then ordered the keema samosas and they were exceptional. Perfectly crispy fried dough stuffed with some beautifully seasoned ground lamb. Then, the pièce de résistance, the chicken Tikka Masala...goodness gracious...unreal. It was just divine. Creamy sauce spiced just perfectly (I went mild as I cant do too much spice) and the most tender chicken you can imagine. We ordered it with a side of basmati rice and could not have been happier. The ambiance and service are just as good as the food and the prices are very reasonable. This place has what is hands down the best Indian food I have ever had. We went yesterday to celebrate my daughters birthday as this was her favorite restaurant. We were really disappointed with the quality of food. Everything came out Luke warm. The naan was cold. The tandoori chicken looked like it had been sitting out and it was super dry. My husband ordered the shrimp tikka and the shrimps looked like the cocktail shrimp. I asked for extra tamarind sauce and they give you this tiny container so I constantly has to be asking for more as the four of us like it. Overall a poor experience. read more
