This was the first time that my husband and I ate at the Shell Shack and it will be our last. We ate today at lunch; the menu is limited and mostly fried foods unless you order a pound of craps. After being seated at a table against the window we noticed greasy fingerprints on the window and food on its ledge. This was very unsanitary and disturbing and we wondered what other areas of the restaurant looked liked; the areas we could not see. I first ordered the catfish dinner, but was told their was an upcharge if I ordered the American catfish versus the Asian. I asked what the difference was, and the waiter could not explain it to me. Because of the limited menu and not wanting to pay an upcharge, we ordered the clam chowder and crab nuggets. Chowder was good, but very little crab was found in the nuggets. My first time at a Shell Shack was a success! I have been craving seafood for quite some time and it was on point. The alligator tenders were great, and the homemade sauces even better. My boyfriend and I shared a boil with a lb of both king crab legs and shrimp;potatoes and sausage. We are stuffed. Jamie at the bar was still able to convince us to order the very tasty fried bread pudding. Visited Sunday, March 20, 2016 Told there would be a 30 minute wait for a party of 2. There was a 10 minute wait before they called our name. My waitress was Tia. She was very nice and personable. Not quite as attentive as i am used to but...it's all good. I had to ask for items twice. But, it wasn't too bad. I ordered a pound of snow crab legs, a pound of crawfish, a pound of shrimp. It was only my mother and I having dinner. She asks me did I want potatoes, corn, and sausage. I say, "I don't eat pork". My mom says, I do. Then, my mom asks, "Can you put the sausage on the side? Like not in the bag?" She says, "yes". Tia charges me for three orders of sausage at $2.95 a piece. Then charges me the same for the potatoes and corn. Therefore, I ended up with almost $20.00 in corn, potatoes, and SAUSAGE (that I don't eat). Then, to top it off-- the sausage was of course-- in the bag with the rest of the seafood. I was so steamed. My mom was like "Do you want to send it back?" But, I just wanted to move on. I didn't have the time, nor the patience to deal with the situation. Let's just say-- NOT HAPPY! Then, I ordered each of us a bloody mary. Tia asked which Vodka (Grey Goose, Ciroc, Kettle One). When I get my bill there is a $1.00 upcharge for the vodka. Again...not a big deal, just tell the customer ahead of time--BEFORE the bill arrives. AND, the bloody mary was not good. I asked for SPICY, of course it came out regular. Luckily for me tabasco and pepper are on the table. I doctored it right up to my liking. The shrimp were a little over-cooked. But, other than that- the food was fine. I think I enjoy myself at the one in Uptown a little bit more. But, who knows...this one is closer to my house, and close to shopping. Lets start off with the reception telling us a 35 minute wait that turned into 1-2 hr wait. We sat at the bar to order an appetizer and drink til table was ready. Once table was ready and we were seated we proceeded to order and wait for our food. The appetizer came which was very unappetizing they were mild wings which were less than lukewarm and the mild spice was not even the least heat in it. The plating was not appealing. When we got our food the crabs was in a bag dumped out into our tray, full of more grease than should have been. We proceeded to eat, our food was cold the bag that it came out of did not hold any heat although the manager told us it comes right out of the pot. Anywhoo the waiter didn't bring us gloves and didn't bring us a container for the carnage. According to the manager he said gloves are too expensive so they offer them you have to ask. Visited Tuesday 3/22/2016 This place rocks! The location is pretty close to the stadium and a much needed addition to the restaurants in the area. From the second you walk into the door you can feel the vibe of the Shell Shack brand, from the electric blue walls to the outstanding bar display and layout. This location has a great patio and plenty of seating in the waiting area. But the best part of my visit hands down was the amazing crawfish!! Kitchen Sink/Diablo all the way folks. There were several that I were large enough to eat the meat from the claws and the flavor was perfect! We had Calamari for an appetizer and if you are a Calamari person, the perfectly seasoned crust takes the cake. All in all, I just can't say enough about the small things in life that make such a big difference.... Like Shell Shack! :) read more

My sister and I came here after a terrible experience at the Fort Worth location. We did voice our experience to the waitress at this location and she brought us the manager. Her name was Eve I believe but she was such a breath of fresh air. She apologized for the horrible night and was really accommodating. We'll DEFINITELY be back at this location. So the service is wonderful. We had a really long wait but the hostess staff was really nice about letting us check back in as we went to look at half price books. Johnathan, our server, was very personable and efficient. The crawfish, however, were such a disappoint for anyone who has had true Cajun crawfish. They have very little flavor and the "hot" was more like a very generous mild. They do not cook it in the sauce and just put it in the bag post cook with sauce. This seems to be a typical practice for the D-FW restaurants who serve crawfish, but for 8.99 a pound you would hope for a true Cajun experience. As a personal aside, i do not enjoy the "party" style atmosphere of extremely loud music and sub par drinks, an annoying amount of cocktail tables, and inappropriate waitress attire. I ordered a margarita that was mostly margarita mix and probably a tiny amount of tequila. May go back for trying something other than crawfish. read more

We tried the Arlington store last night. My first impression was that it is a lot roomier than the Dallas location. It is also VERY loud in there. They have nothing to absorb the sound so everything echoes. We got seated with no wait. We got Tia for a server. I have to agree with a previous reviewer; she is likable but pretty inattentive. We waited on tea refills for a while but she did get there with it before the food so no big deal. We also never got the bib things that you really need for messy eating like that. I should point out that there were a lot of servers taking really good care of their tables, so I'm looking forward to eating there again with a different waitress. HOWEVER, my husband and I both got the Mi-Shell-Ada's that are $8. I liked mine, I've had way better, but I was fine. My husband didn't like his, so we asked our waitress Gaby if we could send it back and just get a plain XX. She went to the bar w out drink, cans back w it & told us that those drinks are non-refundable. Now, funny thing is I have a friend who used to bartend there and said that's insane and not policy. Let me start by saying this is the third one of these I have been too. I first went to the Plano location with some friends that dragged me up there and was very impressed. Then found out they had one in Dallas! So I have gone there a few times to get my crab fix. It's baseball season and I since I live and die Rangers, even though I have to drive to Arlington (Ugh) I don't mind it to see the best baseball team ever! I found out that Shell Shack had opened a location in Arlington so what's better then having good crab and beer before seeing the greatest baseball team! This location is huge!! They have a great patio and what's even better is that they have a pseudo bar section unlike the other two! It looks like you can even have your own private room for events. I will say I don't know why but the lobster was even better here then the other two locations and they didn't drown it in the sauce (kitchen sink sauce). The service was amazing as well! I hate to say it but I may be going to this location before all the late home games and will be doing a recap after the early home games! I frequent the Shell Shack often and generally have had great service but on this particular day I was not pleased at all with service and to add insult to injury I contacted the owner Mr Hale who very casually gave a piss poor apology and followed up with condescending excuses. I have emailed this owner on more that one occasion when I have received superb service and I have also emailed him when not so good food or service just to give him a heads up. Well this particular day not only was customer service not great while was picking up my to go order but my food was made correctly and some of the crab legs were overcooked. Mr Hale proceeded to tell me that bendable crab is NOT overcooked. Really??? I eat crab often and the shell should break easily in order to get crab meat out of shell without it breaking into 2000 pieces and struggling to get off the shell. I also asked him why crab utensils for to go orders are not included not even plasticware. He said they sell crab crackers and don't just give them away. I feel that should also be a option on menu then to purchase as well since so many people are displaced and may not have no access to their normal household items. The most interesting part of this email was when I explained to him how I felt offended with his initial response to me on the first email this was his reply: "Well I am truly sorry that you feel that way... In the new world of to goes.... it has not changed from the way we have always done to goes.... plastic clubs are only given if they were asked for... And if you've ordered crab to go before then you definitely understand about the crackers and splitters... We would've happily sold you a pair if you would've asked form for eight dollars... For being in this model for seven years... People do ask if they are looking for crackers and splitters... Also we are doing 500% more to go orders than ever anticipated... In this pandemic....We are giving stellar service... But we are also taking a lot of abuse from entitled customers... We do strive to give the best customer service possible... But also in this pandemic... We have learned that the customer is not always right." It should be "stellar service" across the board starting from top down at ALL locations. Let me start by saying I love shell shack but the Arlington location needs help they have a long way to go with attention to detail. I have been to this location at least 5 times if not more since they opened and almost every time something went wrong. Once the waitress left us with empty cups because she claimed not to be able to see how much liquid we had left due to the cups being red....hmm okay. I don't know how that stops you from checking on your table, and no it wasn't that busy I actually saw her stroking a friends hair at the bar, but this is a laid back place so I guess that's tolerate. Moving on from that..... multiple times my food has been left out of the bag just forgotten example I ordered corn didn't get it ordered sausage didn't get it had to remind the waitress or I order two corn and only got 1. The kitchen just doesnt pay attention in my honest opinion twice the temperature of the food was off, once I ordered mild and got something way way hotter. I think this location can be great but there needs to be more attention to detail by the staff mainly the kitchen. I'm willing to wait an extra 5 or 10 minutes for a correct order. I'm paying over 70.00 bucks plus for me and another person so I expect effort. I will be back eventually and I hope things will be better this location is so much closer to my house. The experience wasn't so hot for me. I ordered the boil with a pound of snow crab legs with sausage, corn, and chose the medium kitchen sink sauce. It wasn't crowded at all but it took a bit of time - more than 10 min before our food came out. The portion was so little, and I was highly disappointed with the flavor. It was drenched in sauce, but the sauce was also way too salty and spicy. My stomach is now suffering as a result of my choice. The bill came out to be $26.00, pretty expensive for the quality/quantity of food I've had. Overall, it will be my first and last time visiting- last kitchen sink for me! I placed a take out order , went to pick it up waited over 30mins, server forgot to give my credit card back and my shrimp was over cooked. It's suppose to be "peel and eat" however majority of my food is busting out the shell and hard! Went back to have the order fixed and it still came out the same way!! $28 for 1 1/2 lb of shrimp!!
