Went to this place to watch the World Cup last week. It might be good on normal nights, especially since outside the American Airlines Center downtown. Unfortunately it wasnt prepared for the influx of people that filled the establishment and they couldn't keep up at the bar. As for the food, it was trash. I ordered a western burger with extra pickles and fries. It had to be premade it literally came out in less than 5 minutes. It was dry, like warm and completely horrible. Hero is the perfect lunch date/sports watch party spot. It's extremely spacious with a large area in the back that usually has private parties. I love the BYOB; some weeks I buy them for meal prep! Came here during a 2nd quarter of the mavs game, so it was very very quiet, but it makes sense-they will be busy before and after the mavs game. We were instantly served-the bartender made me a strawberry cosmo. Amazing! We sat for a few minutes and then had to run to the game before half time. There are a plethora of flat screen TVs everywhere, tons of seating (booth/table/bar), and a cool bar with a video board that wraps around it 360 degrees. 1 Star. Service - I arrived early 5:30 (game at 7:30), and while they weren't busy, they were slow. As gametime grew closer, Hero filled up and service was even slower. The staff was super nice, just slow. 1/2 Star. Food - It's a sports bar with sports bar food. We started with the Super Bowl Nachos with ground beef. The huge portion was easily sharable within my party of three. There were generous portions of everything. But in the end, it was still just nachos. I went with the chicken strips, which were very good. The strips were a big size, were hot and juicy, and came with tasty tater tots. The tots were excellent. Not greasy, crisp on the outside and piping hot on the inside. The tots were the hit of my meal. The only negative was the pricing. There's a cost to the location (and inflation). Our meal was $90 for nachos, two sandwiches, and my chicken strips. Still - I was very satisfied with my meal. 1 1/2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I wouldn't return for the food, but I would return for the atmosphere and location. Hero by HG is a massive indoor outdoor restaurant bar venue focusing on farm fresh food and drinks. They are located off the main entrance in by the American Airlines Center. This is a perfect place to attend a d pregame before catching a Maverick game, a Stars game, or even a concert. The bar sits right in the AAC area, and you can't miss it with the big lighted signs in front of the bar. We came here before a Stars game to get some quick drinks and were serviced at the outside bar. The place was packed with Stars fans wearing their Victory Green jerseys coming in and out of the bar enjoying themselves. The service was quick and efficient, and drinks were served with a smile by the lovely bartenders. They have indoor seating inside the restaurant and bar seating as well and have a patio bar adjacent to the arena, which is great for people watching and enjoying the outdoors. The prices were decent for drinks and probably cheaper than what you would pay inside AAC. The bartenders were friendly and eager to serve you and kept the drinks coming. I ordered the friend chicken salad which was really good (not hard to expect with HG Supply) and a very tasty tipsy strawberry guava Topo drink. Our server was great, quick and always around. The mood of the place was poppin' and tons of fun. Everyone was there for the event it felt like so it was buzzing. They don't do happy hours during events FYI. In general, it was just a lot of $$ for what we got. Felt like I paid more for the location than anything else. Likely won't be back unless I go to another event or can hit them up during happy hour. The cheese fries had a queso on them that were really good so I would recommend those. The Dirty South chicken sandwich was just two chicken tenders with some honey butter and pickles on a bun. The chicken was fried OK and the honey butter was decent but not what I would consider a chicken sandwich since it was just tenders and not an actual chicken breast. The burger was OK nothing fancy just pretty much an all American burger although both tater tots for both sandwiches were fried a little bit hard. Now the bad. The service was weird. Our waitress started by demanding a card to start a tab. When I said no tab & paying, she seem to get an attitude. We had to pay for our food when we ordered it, just felt weird. We felt rushed as we were trying to watch the game as she kept trying to clear our table of food we were still eating, but never brought drink refills ‍. Came on a Friday afternoon with a huge group (20+) and the staff seated us right away and were friendly and accommodating. I was in your AAC location this evening before the Mavericks game but during the broadcast of the Cowboys game to meet some friends for drinks and snacks. While the food and service were pretty good, the volume of the televised game coverage was not only obscenely loud but very distorted. You could barely make out what the announcers were saying because it was drowned out by the crowd noise from the broadcast. It sounded like being underneath a jet airliner taking off. About the only time we could hear one another or our server was during the halftime break in the live game coverage. I simply don't see what's to be gained from having the music or game broadcasts so loud that people can't even communicate. This was not limited to the dining area. The men's room had speakers all over the place, including directly above the urinals. I've been to rock concerts that were not as ear-splitting loud. The server, who seemed similarly annoyed by the volume, mentioned that lots of people complain. She added that the owners want it that way by design and don't really care if it's bothersome to many patrons. read more

It's packed, but servers manage to come and ask every table for drink orders on a consistent basis. Kudos to them. So I don't give out many 5 stars. This is a great sports bar for many reasons. The location is prime!!!! Right by AAC. The service is pretty quick even when busy. The place is HUGE so usually no waits. The food is solid even for bar food. It's a great place to watch a game....tvs and screens all over the place. Finally, things are a bit pricey but reasonable considering all the other factors. This is our goto place for any events in the area. This was a cool spot. I was staying at the hotel across the street so did not have to deal with parking. It is quite big and has a big bar. We sat at the bar and watched the Astros play. We did not have anything to eat so can comment on that we just a few beers and enjoyed the atmosphere. As far as the people there were a lot of people eye candy for both men and women. So I'm visiting for the month and I saw so many reviews about this place so I was like let me try it out. It is literally in the same plaza of the American Airlines center so it's def a great place to watch the game. I will say that the owner is def on Yelp watching the reviews of this place and I appreciate that just because it shows they actually are trying to provide the best service. I was skeptical of getting the mozzarella sticks just because they were 14$ and they were average I was gonna be sooo mad! So I went on and got them but I was mad because they were burnt and tasted burnt but i didn't complain or send them back. I just make reviews. Luckily the owner (who wasn't ever there) saw my review lol and called the manager on duty to tell him to come to me and ask me how everything was. THATS WHAT I CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE! I showed him my burnt cheese sticks and he said he would talk to the chef and come back. My boy came back with a fresh non burnt pair of cheese sticks and gave me a free shot! Yeah they had me sold.
