My fiancee ordered a shrimp po'boy and indicated no tomatoes due to medical concerns. When the food arrived both my fiancee and India noticed that tomatoes were on the sandwich. She was willing to remove them herself but India insisted on making the correction by crediting us for the sandwich but also giving us the correct sandwich to go as another meal. My family and I went to celebrate my niece birthday Saturday, 11/16. We had a party of 16 and only one server. This place was very understaffed. To start off the wait was 50 minutes to an hour, which we didn't complain as much because we went to the bar to wait. The bartender Cici was very friendly but she didn't come to serve us until after 20 minutes of just sitting and looking for help. The service was not prompt at all. It took 10 minutes to get a drink after waiting 20 minutes to be served. It was hard to order additional drinks because the bartender was never around. She came back and apologize and mentioned she was serving a large party. Again there was only one bartender making drinks and serving food on a Saturday evening....not good at all! Once we finally got to our table, the service was not better. We had only one waitress for our large party. Trisha tried her best but the service was slow. We would get drinks and straws would come 15 minutes later. We ordered an appetizer and the plates came much later and our food was cold by that time. Drinks were slow again making the night not very enjoyable. Our food was ok but we spent $176 and I feel like service was 2 out of 5 stars. The food is over priced. I got the Boss which comes with 2 pieces is fish and 8 shrimp and it was $27.99. I could have gone to Pappadeux's for less, with better drinks and service. Not a fan. Don't plan to go back. You can tell she knew how to do her job very professional, sweet, patient, and made sure we where well taking of and had very well manors.. I would definitely recommend her as your waitress. we came in on a Friday night at 7. it was about 40 % full. the server seated us at the table right by the entrance. I asked if we could move one table back but was refused. I ordered unsweetened tea with lemon and my spouse ordered a beer off the table tent special. server said they didn't have it and she didn't really know about the beers anyway. we asked her to check again and referred to the table tent. she brought a different beer. fried fish, fried shrimp and fried calamari were all over- fried. $56 plus tip. way overpriced for bar food. 5 servers spent most of their time talking in a group to the hostess, who sat on her stool the entire time we were in the restaurant ( over an hour). maybe if you drink enough you won't notice how bad the food is. read more

No comment as my friend scooped them up. Entree 2: Grilled Shrimp with corn on the cob. Mild cajun spice with a little heat that I enjoyed. Remoulade and cocktail sauce cooled things down also. Service was good as she did check on us and was attentive. So why the 3? Decor and attention to detail could do better. For the prices paid, it should be a little more cleaner/neater. My cousin wanted to go get some seafood and it was pretty late so my favorite place was nearing closing time. We ended up at Shell Shack one evening around 10 pm and I was severely underwhelmed. Everyone seems to love Shell Shack but I was not impressed at all. Our waitress and her trainee were friendly enough but the drink that I ordered around the time of our meal. The bartender was doing absolutely nothing during the time. I know because I had a direct view of the bar from my seat. The servers seemed confused about the fact that my drink wasn't ready. Um, I have no control over that. Maybe they should've gone to investigate and ask the bartender themselves. Besides the drink taking seemingly forever to arrive, the food was not to my liking. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the food is quite pricey. I was not paying attention and ordered shrimp. Lord have mercy, that is some expensive shrimp! For it to be $15 a pound, it wasn't even good. Disappointing. The sauce that my bag came in was not good either. It was extremely salty. I know that I ordered sausage but didn't think that it would be THAT salty. Cringe. Needless to say, I was beyond disappointed, overwhelmed, and low key hungry later on that night because my seafood boil bag was not good. About 15 minutes later came the seafood boil - no extra sausage, but 2 eggs instead (for which we were charged $3). Been anxious to try this place as the wife and I are big seafood junkies. When we arrived, we were told there was a 20 minute wait. As I gazed into the dining room at about 65% capacity, I immediately ask if high tops at the bar were open seating. They were and we took a seat there. We ordered the VIP and a bowl of clam chowder. The disturbing things: It looked a like personal friends and family with young kids hanging out in the bar area. No big deal but it also looked like half the staff all hanging out with them. Maybe nothing but as a manager, I would hope the staff would have other work related tasks to do like clean the butter drenched glass between the bar and the dining room? Music blaring from the kitchen with one kitchen member wearing a hat with marijuana print all over it. Probably not the most professional image to send to the customers, especially to the ones with food coming out at the end of the meal. Bathrooms were downright disgusting. Toilet was leaking and the walls were grimy to say the least. The good things: Brittni was great. Also she wasn't participating in the family reunion at the bar but rather tending to her guests. The food was very good putting timing aside. I would challenge the business owner to swing in here unannounced in the evening. Not sure if this establishment is a franchise house but I read what it takes to open a Shell Shack franchise and if it were my money invested, some behavior should be addressed here. "Sauce" was nothing but extremely salty seasoning that looks and feels like mud with oil. Very messy and not at all appetizing. Potatoes are over cooked and mushy. Corn was over cooked and hard. Their prices are decent/average compared to other cajun boils around the nation. The quality of seafood was decent too but the overall flavor and spices used just seemed to be missing something or maybe the seafood didn't soak up as much of the seasoning. I advise HOLD THE SALT!!! It was really really REALLY salty. Got the garlic and Cajun together in diablo heat, the spice level was okay...not that spicy but decent flavor. Would need to try again without so much salt to really determine a good review. It helped to keep the bag with the sauce and dip the seafood into it, from there it was good or maybe I just got used to the salt. When eating the shrimp and pealing it in your mouth, it was not more delicious than pealing with hands and dipping in sauce. Meaning that the sauce didn't soak fully into the food to give it the best flavor. I would recommend going here if you're looking for boil in the area, just remember to tell them to hold the salt! read more

My second time at a Shell Shack. The first time was at the location on Abrams (now closed) and food and service were great. I will not be back to this location on Henderson. The food was delicious but the service inside and out was horrible. Went to park amd they had valet. I was rudely told I have to pay $6 to park in the giant empty parking lot. I parked on the street. The waitress looked and acted like she didn't want to be working. She had an attitude. My companion and I tried to be kind. She didn't give us her name or describe anything on the menu. Barely checked on us to see if we needed anything. We had to ask for drink refills. Although one nice man did come by and check on us, our main server was not attentive. Never get the unsweet tea, it tasted like it was a week old. My coconut shrimp platter was delicious and had very sizeable portions. The calamari was also very good. My first time at a seafood boil restaurant and I was very impressed with shell shack!. I went on a Saturday night..wait was about 15-20mins. I got the kitchen sink and it was everything and more. A few weeks after visiting here I went to another seafood boil place but that didn't top shell shack. The other seafood place had a lot of oil in their sauce but shell shacks sauce was all sauce!! The food has been good on the times I have visited the restaurant. The service is not always the best. I went for a birthday party in November. The waiter was given a 20% gratuity plus several guest gave an additional tip and he could not give the birthday girl a piece of cake or sing Happy Birthday. I came on another visit in September for a birthday and the waitress sang happy birthday and gave the birthday girl a free piece of cheesecake and decorated the plate. She was so welcoming over the phone & it didn't end there! I haven't been to this location in 2-years, but after our experience with Ms. LaToya & a new waitress Ms. Zay: whom she was training, has gained me as a returning customer. Now, the PLATTER!!
