WORST SERVICE I'VE HAD ANYWHERE IN A LONG TIME!!! My wife and I show up for National Crawfish Day and to see the sports radio guys there promoting. This was 4/17/24 from 4-7p. Not busy at all in the restaurant or bar, we sat at the bar. The first bartender we had (Kia) was rude for no reason from the moment we sat down. I hadn't even finished sitting down before she asked what we wanted to drink. My wife asked for a minute to look and she just walked off. Maybe some waters to start off with while we decide what we want to drink would have been nice, but never got those. She was also rude to the guest of the radio station, the comedian Craig Gass, and all he did was ask for a dish that was shown online. We eat some crawfish which is always delicious, food is good here but not worth the hassle of feeling like you're bothering people who are literally there to work. Shift change happens around 6p, she comes to us saying she's tabbing us out and we can start another with the new bartender. I'm in service industry and you always offer that option, never assume. So she rushed us for that so she could leave after sitting at a table with another employee laughing about for 20 min. The new bartender is around and this is where it went super south! I don't have his name but he was young, with short dreads wearing a batman symbol on his shirt. He shows up, smelling like weed (which do your thing but if you can't function, don't smoke or don't have a job) then goes to the kitchen and I can see him snacking. He was also walking around talking on the phone (speaker phone) so everyone had no choice but to hear his conversation. Still has not checked on any patrons from the bar. Then he comes out from the kitchen with a burger and fries for himself, proceeds to walk around the entire bar where new people have shown up, our glasses are empty and messes from people leaving. At this point its getting later in the evening and the bar is picking up. He ignores all of us, goes to the little room behind the bar, sits down on his phone and starts eating. Us and other customers at the bar are watching him and looking around like is this for real? I had to yell over there to get his attention, in which he gets up, no apology, nothing, DOESN'T WASH HIS HANDS after putting food in his mouth, and asks what we need. I tell him he can help the other customers that have been sitting there with absolutely no service for 15 min, he does then helps us. We still wanted to continue eating crawfish and having some drinks but this guy absolutely ruined our crawfish day. The absolute lack of care was disgusting and I will NEVER be returning to this place again. It's a shame, I loved this place for years and the food but unfortunately it's been poor customer service the last few times we've been and I refuse to give them anymore money or support. This was absolutely awful. There was a moment where there wasn't a single employee around that you could see. Like not even a manager walking around checking on things or making sure his bartender was behind the bar. The front door and bar area had a bunch of people standing around waiting. I will say there was one waitress who was pretty much working the whole restaurant. She picked up the slack from the other employees and was even making drinks because as stated earlier, the bartender wasn't there to do his job. That bartender was also very handsy with another employee and that's not what you want to see when trusting someone to handle your food, and again DID NOT WASH HIS HANDS! Again I am service industry in running restaurants so I can be patient and understanding with a lot but this was the absolute worst. There was no excuse for how poorly this guys service was. Lemme assume that you've read some of the other reviews on here. You'd probably know that service is on the crappy side, but the food doesn't disappoint. Once again, my fellow Yelpers, y'all are on point. Service is indeed crap. Like getting-your-appetizer-before-your-drinks crap. Like not-getting-any-silverware-until-you-ask-for-a-fork-and-then-they-only-bring-one-fork kinda crap. Whatever. We shared appetizers and the rare and valuable fork. Heaping calamari portion for ten bucks! It was good, too. I also loved the crab tater tots. Great spot for sharing food. The atmosphere was loud, fun, and crowded. My fiancee and I went last night to Shell Shack for dinner and was quite impressed with the customer service received. My fiancee ordered a shrimp po'boy and indicated no tomatoes due to medical concerns. When the food arrived both my fiancee and India noticed that tomatoes were on the sandwich. She was willing to remove them herself but India insisted on making the correction by crediting us for the sandwich but also giving us the correct sandwich to go as another meal. Service was good as she did check on us and was attentive. So why the 3? Decor and attention to detail could do better. For the prices paid, it should be a little more cleaner/neater. My cousin wanted to go get some seafood and it was pretty late so my favorite place was nearing closing time. We ended up at Shell Shack one evening around 10 pm and I was severely underwhelmed. Everyone seems to love Shell Shack but I was not impressed at all. Our waitress and her trainee were friendly enough but the drink that I ordered around the time of our meal. The bartender was doing absolutely nothing during the time. I know because I had a direct view of the bar from my seat. The servers seemed confused about the fact that my drink wasn't ready. Um, I have no control over that. Maybe they should've gone to investigate and ask the bartender themselves. Besides the drink taking seemingly forever to arrive, the food was not to my liking. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the food is quite pricey. I was not paying attention and ordered shrimp. Lord have mercy, that is some expensive shrimp! For it to be $15 a pound, it wasn't even good. Disappointing. The sauce that my bag came in was not good either. It was extremely salty. Been anxious to try this place as the wife and I are big seafood junkies. When we arrived, we were told there was a 20 minute wait. As I gazed into the dining room at about 65% capacity, I immediately ask if high tops at the bar were open seating. They were and we took a seat there. We ordered the VIP and a bowl of clam chowder. The clam chowder was very good but took a while for the crab and shrimp to come out. They finally did but our waitress Brittni said it would be a few minutes on the fries and hush puppies. Those arrive near the end of our meal. They tasted good but only ate a couple fries as we were full from dinner. The disturbing things: It looked a like personal friends and family with young kids hanging out in the bar area. No big deal but it also looked like half the staff all hanging out with them. Maybe nothing but as a manager, I would hope the staff would have other work related tasks to do like clean the butter drenched glass between the bar and the dining room? Music blaring from the kitchen with one kitchen member wearing a hat with marijuana print all over it. Probably not the most professional image to send to the customers, especially to the ones with food coming out at the end of the meal. Bathrooms were downright disgusting. Toilet was leaking and the walls were grimy to say the least. The good things: Brittni was great. Also she wasn't participating in the family reunion at the bar but rather tending to her guests. Their prices are decent/average compared to other cajun boils around the nation. The quality of seafood was decent too but the overall flavor and spices used just seemed to be missing something or maybe the seafood didn't soak up as much of the seasoning. I advise HOLD THE SALT!!! It was really really REALLY salty. Got the garlic and Cajun together in diablo heat, the spice level was okay...not that spicy but decent flavor. Would need to try again without so much salt to really determine a good review. It helped to keep the bag with the sauce and dip the seafood into it, from there it was good or maybe I just got used to the salt. When eating the shrimp and pealing it in your mouth, it was not more delicious than pealing with hands and dipping in sauce. Meaning that the sauce didn't soak fully into the food to give it the best flavor. About 15 minutes later came the seafood boil - no extra sausage, but 2 eggs instead (for which we were charged $3). Another 15 minutes later the chicken sandwich arrived. 45 minutes from when we were seated, my chicken tenders finally arrived. The food has been good on the times I have visited the restaurant. The service is not always the best. I went for a birthday party in November. The waiter was given a 20% gratuity plus several guest gave an additional tip and he could not give the birthday girl a piece of cake or sing Happy Birthday. I came on another visit in September for a birthday and the waitress sang happy birthday and gave the birthday girl a free piece of cheesecake and decorated the plate.
