Catered food from Sharkos at the beginning of the month for my dad's retirement party. The food was great and everyone loved it! The only issue I had was that they didn't give us one of our sides. They were super nice when we called and said they'd be crediting my card back. The credit never came. Called again and the same thing, but still wasn't credited for my missing item. Wasn't going to call back for a 3rd. My only advice is check you have everything if you have a really large order before you leave the restaurant. read more

The food tastes fabulous - that is...the food that IS included in your order. We drove almost 35 - 40 minutes because my husband wanted rib tips. We ate at Sharkos before and loved the food. Everything was so flavorful my husband & I agreed - this was a "do again!" Today when he started talking about rib tips early in the day, I searched high and low to find the name of the place our whole family loved before. Everyone piled in the car for the "trek" to Sharkos. We wanted the 3 meat special so we ordered pulled chicken, rib tips, and sausage (and our 3 sides) and made a beeline to get home and have dinner. Imagine my husbands face and voice when he unloaded the bag and found NO RIB TIPS. He was FURIOUS!! A call to the restaurant gave us a "credit" for the missing meat. Needless to say, it was too late to drive the round 90ish minute round trip to pick them up. The food was still good but we sorely missed the rib tips. That's a very long review to tell you, "check your order before you leave to MAKE SURE you have everything you ordered. We don't think the "miss" was intentional or malicious. It was DEFINITELY disappointing. Just a suggestion - the person ringing up the order should check to make sure everything ordered is in the bag. Sharko's ribs are meaty, succulent, and some of the best tasting ones around town!! We pared them with green beens, baked beens, and two amazing deserts. Sharkos was a go to place to grab dinner for the family. Over the years it's become a bit more inconsistent in food quality.

The place is clean. Parking is small. Most food is take-out. Not eaten in. Staff are friendly. Food is prepared in front of you. The staff on the front line should not be wearing earbuds. 2 employees were wearing them. Pepsi products, you can't be number 1 if you don't serve number 1. As you walk in, the menu is on the wall. Potato bags are on the side of the aisle. That said, you think they could serve fresh fries. Not frozen thin cut crap that are served in a bag. They don't stay hot this way. The table only has barbecue and paper towels. Put the ketchup, pepper, and salt on the table. Don't be cheap. You charge enough for this. Prices are just above fair for the value. The ribs fall off the bone, and the brisket is moist but overly fatty. The coleslaw was passable. They do serve fresh made lemonade, but it's sitting in a trough of melted ice, so it's not very cold. You have to add ice after you drink part of it warm. They do give you VERY tiny cones for ice cream, which is a nice touch. Can't find a garbage can to dump your garbage, so you have to leave your garbage on the table. Also, for food safety purposes, the person handling the meat or dishing out the sides should be wearing a hair net & a beard net. I personally would prefer not to have their hair in my food. It was my first time here at Sharko's BBQ and let me tell you my experience. It was really an amazing experience and this place is highly recommended! Their customer service is nice, all of their staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and decent. All of them were contributing to the great ambiance that the place has, by their smiles and awesome treatment for customers. Their menu here was mind-blowing and all of their dishes was mouthwatering. I ordered their Rib's Brisket, Pulled Pork, and Brisket Grilled Cheese. Everything was delicious and made to perfection. I love Sharkos but... Thank goodness we got there when we did, had no clue they closed at 7:30pm? We were sitting outside and they started locking the doors at 7:20. At 7:36 a rude guy asked for our trays and we became the forgotten customer. Long are the American days when the restaurant/store stays open as long as you have customers! Sharko's BBQ is as close to homemade as you can get when you eat takeout food. We love stopping by for a quick bite to eat and since the service is fast, we can be out within 30 minutes. The ambiance is nice, but it can get crowded fast. So sometimes taking food to go is the best option. read more

Nice variety however they seem to try too many things like brisket grill cheese. Seasoned fries adds nothing except high blood pressure . I had pull pork sandwich and it seemed to be extra salty. The lemonades is extra sweet. I added about 5oz of water and it was still really sweet. I've had a number of sides and nothings jumps out as "got to have". I believe simple is better and just adding salt is not how flavor is added. KISS. I love their concept but the recipes need tweaking . I'm a Central Texas Native who's had BBQ in every major BBQ region of the US. I travel to eat BBQ so I hope you find this review has a bit of substance and insight.. Atmosphere: 6/10; crowded, floors are a bit greasy so chairs slide, greeted by supply that hasn't been put away Staff: friendly, 7/10 Ribs; came sauced, not a fan b/c in the South we let the meat speak for itself... Especially when there's at least 4 sauces on the table. Ribs were cooked almost to perfection though. Came off the bone appropriately- not over cooked and were pretty fresh.. Pulled Pork; 9/10 ... star of the platter... moist, well cooked. Flavor was on point before saucing Brisket: 8/10 ... Moist, pepper undertone ( small portion) but otherwise great Sides... Mac and cheese- skip it. Nothing to write home about.. Normally it would be baked in a BBQ setting. Overly cheesy, and soupy. Potato Salad- excellent Pickles- Phenomenal Beans- nice blend of sweet/ savory Coleslaw- was meh. Rough chopped, some pieces too big. Portions were great on the sides...Only thing missing was complimentary bread slices. Usually a staple for a BBQ meal. Overall a good experience. Would prefer it served not in plastic, but it was still good. Sauces available were well done. Will def return as they are some of the better BBQ I've had since being transplanted from the South. Lately I've had a pulled pork obsession. It's pretty much the greatest thing on the face of the planet. I was excited to try the pulled pork at Sharko's! Sadly I found it to be just okay. Sharko's is a very cute little restaurant in the normal quick bbq style where you order in the front and take your food to sit at a table. There are adorable saddle seats good for a good photo op and TVs all around if you're into television that involves bouncy balls. There was one young gentleman behind the counter manning things and he seemed attentive and on top of everything. Everyone else seemed aloof and no one was what I would call friendly. Especially the lady working the register. I was with friends and she was quite curt with them when they were out of nearly half their menu after they had already paid. I had no issues with ordering the Mac Mama combo and it was ready right away with an Angry Orchard cider for $12.78. I was surprised the order wasn't bigger than it was but it suited me just fine. The pork was quite dry but with some sassy sauce I found it to be just right. I tried all the sauces and definitely preferred the sassy - not mustardy nor saucy but just tangy & sweet & right. I got their mac & cheese with my meal and I like to think of myself as a mac & cheese connoisseur. I wasn't a big fan of it, sadly, as I found it to be quite bland. A lot of volume but not a lot of substance. I thought Sharko's was A-OK but could name a couple of 'Burbs BBQ spots I think do it better. Sometimes you just gotta have BBQ. Last Friday was one of those days. So I convened with my favorite former Texan and we proceeded to get saucy at Sharko's. I've gotta say, if we're talking BBQ in Naperville, Sharko's is going to be at least third on my list below Q and Gemato's. Nothing was bad, it just wasn't "as good," in my mind at least. My pulled pork...needed more pulling. Maybe because they were busy, but it wasn't even totally shredded! I took the forks to it and it was better, but really. It wasn't quite as tender as I'd like PP to be, but still not bad. I have to admit...I didn't love the sauces. Apparently they won #1 at Ribfest, so someone does! But it wasn't me. (You can be like my companion, squirt a bit of each of the four types onto the corners of a plate, and ultimately create a huge mixed up weather system of spiciness in the middle) The aforementioned Texan naturally went for brisket, which had the telltale pink smoke ring around it to tell that it had been done right. I don't care about brisket, but he was happy, so that's good enough for me. The sides were pretty good overall. The bacon potato salad got some dimension from its eponymous meat. Mac and cheese was super creamy and warm, great in winter! I could have lived without the corn muffin -- just too sweet, no texture. People seem to really dig the homemade pickles, and the free mini ice cream cone is a fun novelty, whether you're 5 or 85 :) Speaking of that age range, there is a definite family draw to this place, and it was crowded as hell and LOUD when we went. (So loud that the staff filling the orders could barely hear us.) There is not a ton of seating, and then it's at cafeteria style tables. If you want to avoid all this, order to go. Overall, Sharko's isn't my top pick for BBQ in Naperville but it certainly is not bad. If you're on the south end of town and you feel the pull of the pig, head on over and open your jaws. read more

Not so happy. I have eaten here and/or had take out more than ten times, and I am never completely pleased. Their sides are always very good, but the quality of the meat is all over the place. When they first opened (the first three times I ate there) the meat was very good, but from that point on sometimes it is not tender, sometimes it is over-cooked, sometimes the amount of fat is just gross. Their service is generally quite good, but sometimes it seems like they are more interested in talking amongst themselves than they are with working on orders. And yes, the prices are a little high. It is worth it when the meat is good, but it sure stings when you get a glob of fat or an undercooked brisket. If they could consistently produce quality meat again, I would be more than willing to increase their review. But after being disappointed the last three times, I doubt I will be going back. read more

Staff apparently doesn't know the difference between flat and point brisket. I placed an order on the phone for pickup, requesting 6oz of brisket from the point (where the good fat and marbling is). The girl on the phone sounded like she had no idea wtf I was talking about. I assumed the guy cutting the brisket would understand this very simple request. When I arrived, I was again questioned about my choice for point cut brisket by a very confused counter guy. I clarified that I wanted the fat and marbling that is present on the point. He then proceeded to start slicing a section of brisket that was VERY CLEARLY flat. I questioned him on this and he told me "well it's just a pretty lean brisket to begin with". Basically, he heard my request for point brisket multiple times and didn't care. I simply responded with "whatever" and a frustrated shake of my head. I got home with my food and my very obvious flat brisket was tough and chewy and fairly flavorless without much bark. At least the sauce is good and the broccoli salad was nice (only reason they got 2 stars instead of 1) So basically the staff doesn't know what's going on and, if you know anything about barbecue, they won't be able give you what you're looking for. I guess they're used to dealing with people who don't know what to ask for ‍ Very disappointed as Sharkos has such a great reputation and I had high expectations.
