Chicken was good, cabbage was fabulous. Mac & Cheese was dry and bland. Spaghetti was cold and bland. Ribs were fairly good but a lot more fat than I'm used to. I would have given 3-4 stars but service was....non existent at best. Absolutely no communication. I was there for a pickup, which was marked ready. I waited 45 minutes, so updates, no reasons. They way you treat and serve people is FREE! It's your best, cheapest PR! You have 3 out of 5 stars. Why do you keep up this awful service? Get it together if you want to last. I ordered from Grubhub for the meal. I really enjoyed the meal, the jerk chicken was tender, the mac and cheese was good and the rice and peas were great. The meal reminded me of the jerk chicken I used to eat in New York back in 2019. So in that regards, I'd order again. I am not sure if I have had a worse meal than what I had at Jamrock. Everything was fried in dirty old burnt oil. You can see in the pictures just how dark and black it turned food in some places. The jerk chicken in their "wrap" (actually two tacos) was so over-smoked that the one bite I took was so awful, I literally spit it back out. Just a horrible overall experience. Ordered the jerk chicken, peas & rice and cabbage. The chicken has a nice smoke flavor (cooked on grill). However, the jerk seasoning is overwhelming. I had to peel off the skin to enjoy the meat. The peas and rice were okay and cabbage was good. I am not a fan of the sauce that was on the peas and rice. It took a litttle over an hour for our food to be ready. My go to place for surprisingly ribs! Their platters are all good but one of my favorite things ever is the large rib tips which are over a bed of French fries. So I'm from FL and I know good Jamaican cuisine and it's sad to say this is NOT it. I'm here in town and wanted some "real" food. I should have looked closely at the pics and I would've known. The caramel cake and patty is SOLID AS A ROCK. The cabbage is over cooked the rice and peas are heavy as me and the huge portions of food is just really not appetizing and the chicken is big. Jam Rock is a small restaurant run by a Jamaican family, and all food is prepared to order. I placed the order by ringing a bell, and started with a 1/2 order of the Jerk Wings (excellent!), Chicken Curry with beans and rice (full of flavor!) and Jerk Catfish with Pickled Onions (spicy and sweet!). The food took about 35 minutes to prepare, so not a place to come when short on time. But if you are looking for authentic tastes of Jamaica, it is a must go! read more

So I don't live in this area but I always hate having to work long hours over here and not have any food options if I decide to take lunch. Well, this place kept catching my eye because of the location. It is right off the bridge and there's lights around the window so you can't miss it. I finally decided to stop by on my way home. (by the way... yelp, you could have given me some props for the food, service, and ambiance breakdown lol) AMBIANCE: I believe they are trying to do some upgrades here and there, but the only one they have done so far is their menu. The place gives you "hole in the wall" vibes, but you know some dives are worth it. It is somewhat a maze in there, you have to pay attention to the written notes to know where you are supposed to be ordering from because the old one is still up and the old one practically meets you at the door. There aren't many places to sit in there (it's a small establishment on a strip) and it didn't help me that I decided to come on a day that their air wasn't working in the restaurant. SERVICE: YOU HAVE TO RING THE BELL AT THE WINDOW otherwise you are going to look confused. Nothing wrong with that, but I will say that one woman rang the bell quite a few times before being seen. Fortunately it wasn't me. The wait can definitely be long so you are better off calling in tbh. FOOD: So I ordered the curry goat. Yes, I love a good curry goat. I personally feel like even the not so great Jamaican spots can't mess up the curry goat meal... it just doesn't miss for me lol. Anyways, this place was a hit for me and I'm not just saying that because it is my favorite dish. It was full of flavor and they definitely gave me enough to last me. With that said, there were some take aways. I would catch some pieces of rice being hard, that definitely made me pause because I could only think that they gave me old or not fully cooked rice. With the goat, again, it was filled with flavor, but I definitely had a time with the bones. The cabbage was really good and that was what I paired with most with my goat since I felt discouraged about the rice. I really was sad that they didn't have any callaloo soup or the fried chicken. I was trying to try a few things to really see if this place was a ringer for me in the area. Overall, I would give this spot another shot. The only bad things I have to say this restaurant needs to work on is the timing and product! Make sure you order ahead because it does take a long time most of the time for your food to be ready... Then make sure you call ahead to see if they have what you want because they do be out on a lot of their main good sides. I usually get the brown chicken with cabbage and rice and I have no complaints.! The inside don't really plan to eat inside because it's very small and not really a dine in spot even tho they have tables. To small and crowded for that. week ago, my girlfriend order me a catfish from the place and she asked for heavy cook. Fish was absolutely amazing. This is the best fish I ever have was steak catfish burn heavy like blackened fish. It was excellent the rice and the sauce was great everything about the dinner was just amazing. I can hardly wait to order me catering for Thanksgiving, I'm going to order a bunch of stuff from the place and I will pick up on Wednesday to make sure I got it. Just for background info. I went on a Friday night at about 5:30, apparently this was only the 9th day they've been open. Only 2 people staffed. Yes, ONLY 2 people! The place was packed and crammed when i arrived. Considering this is the only Jerk restaurant in the West Burbs not a complete surprise and lots of hype from FB & word of mouth. Cons: 1. Waited 20-25 minutes to order 2. Waited an hour for my food. 3. Get home and there's NO JERK CHICKEN only rice and cabbage with my boyfriends meal. Super annoying considering the time we wasted on getting food. (Thank god we literally live around the corner) we go back and they did give us extra chicken right away. Pros. 1. Food was good not 1hr 30 minutes good, not by far. I got the $5 taco meal and the tacos were BLAND not even close to Jerk Taco Man. The jerk chicken dinner had more flavor which my boyfriend got. I also got the rib tips and links which were good but barely had a jerk taste just tasted like bbq. I won't be in a rush to go back, not til they get an actual staff. Love the variety it gives in this area instead of having to go to the city. But honestly i was better off going to the city tonight. I love that it's black owned unfortunately it just seems like our people rush into business without figuring out the logistics of how to give a good customer experience.
