The Patio is the place to be when you are looking for a variety of food options in a cozy atmosphere. I was passing by and couldn't resist especially the smell of BBQ as I entered the large warm and inviting space. The Patio has been around since 1977 and they do this thing right. Placing your order at the counter, they bring your order to your table which allows me a moment to relax. This really helps to set the mood before enjoying a hearty meal. I've always enjoyed everything I've tried here and this visit was no exception. Even a variety of drinks including alcohol and refills on soft drinks helps to make me feel not rushed. A few tv's are spread throughout which again makes me just want to not be in a hurry to leave. I did leave and I'll come back again and again. I'll see you again soon. Especially when I pass by and smell that food.

Half slab of ribs w/mashed potatoes ($16.50)

FULL SLAB   Ribs might hog all the glory at The Patio, but don't sleep on the pulled pork or bbq chicken.   After buying a house in the area, I was thrilled to find this family favorite on Weber Rd, a couple blocks south of Boughton.  Apart from their large dining room, they've got a pickup counter for online orders as well as a drive-thru lane.  The Patio also does loads of catering, where they prep huge foil trays with mac 'n' cheese, barbecue, and salads for company luncheons (of which I've enjoyed my fair share).   My wife loves the traditional ribs in a half slab ($16.50).  The meat is flavorful and tender, plus the sauce is great.  Bigger appetites may necessitate ordering a full slab ($25), which you can get in a dry rub instead of coated in bbq, if you so choose. The Patio has 'classic' and 'spicy' versions of their barbecue sauce; the latter has some considerable heat to it!   The BBQ plates give you a lot of meat for your dollar--pulled pork ($14) or beef brisket ($16) are piled high and come with choice of starchy side.  Most times I go with the loaded baked potato (butter/cheese/sour cream), but their garlic mashed 'taters are good too.  Fries are decent.  You'll always get coleslaw and bread + butter with your meal.   Their terrific rotisserie chicken flies under the radar.  1/4 chicken is $9.50, 1/2 chicken is $13.50.  The skin gets wonderfully crispy while the chicken underneath stays juicy.  They have a beer counter if you want a brewski to wash down all that glorious food--a 12oz draft is $4-5, a fair price.   Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 4.5   With as much business as The Patio draws on a given night, if their kitchen was anything other than razor-sharp, they'd collapse onto themselves like a dying star.  Fortunately, the folks calling the shots here know how to cook on all burners, with fast service and accurate orders. Management runs a tight ship and across half a dozen visits, we've yet to encounter a problem. Sh*t, I probably just jinxed it.   * TL;DR *   Darien, Lombard, Aurora, Bolingbrook....the nearest location to you might change but the high quality of food shouldn't. These guardians of the grill know their stuff backwards and forwards. BBQ from The Patio is already beloved by Eric S & Family and is bound to become a mainstay in our house for years.

The food isn't bad and the service is good, but the atmosphere is a 1/10 for me. Feels very uncomfortable not a very nice place to eat.

The meatballs were delicious, the sauce actually was very good and I don't even like mushrooms at all. The second item I got was the meat filled dumplings, and those were really good. They were actually a lot better than I thought they would be. The third item I tried was the smoked Polish sausage. I will be honest, this was not my favorite. It was not bad, but the flavor on it I did not like as much as other Polish places I've tried. I definitely want to go back and try their cabbage and noodles and pigs in a blanket. They also have desserts that I will have to try as well. They do sell sandwiches, Chicago style hotdogs, and have a small grocery store inside.

However, this place is kind of tucked away so it wasn't busy at all in the afternoon. The outside of the building just says Deli. If you like Polish food, you'll love it here. I read some people exaggerating about the wait times. It does not take long for them to help you. Like Jewel or Mariano's, they're not going to slice your meat in 10 seconds if that's what you're hoping for. Btw the staff was nice. I think the Karen's that complain about them being rude are not very cultured and only know American culture. I ordered the signature pastrami sandwich for $10.99 and it was a very generous portion size. She put a ton of meat in it. The pastrami wasn't tough, it was fresh and soft. Honestly, I had Katz's in NY and this was a really great pastrami sandwich. I also got a large cannoli and meat pierogis. The cannoli was delicious. The pierogis were good but I like to have softer skin. The meat filling was fine but the outside was a bit too tough. I've been to a number of Polish restaurants and they usually make the skins very soft to cut. I would rate these pierogis like a 4. Overall, it's about a 4.5. Prices were very cheap. I got everything for $20. I will definitely return to try more items.

It's fast casual and you'll see some kiosks/tablets to order once you walk in. We made our selection and then didn't have to wait too long before our freshly fried chicken sandos and fries were ready. I ordered a milk tea and a mini cup of chai just because I wanted to try everything. This place has five stars because of how freshly fried the food was. There is nothing better than biting into a fried chicken sandwich and the released steam is almost hazardous. I have a high heat tolerance, and this sort of thing cannot be re-created at home. Alas, we do not have an industrial deep fryer. We also ordered some fried pickles that came with a sauce. It's hard to hate something so delicious when it's deep fried, to be honest. The kitchen is all the way visible, with nothing to hide. A number of Doner roasters and fryers on the back wall, and through the glass all of the preparation bins were RIGHT THERE. It all looked superb and fresh. The billboard menu above was easy to read, although if you don't know what Bashka or Mansaf is, you're not going to find out anything there. The Gal behind the counter (at least on the day I was there) seemed to not have the best command of English, although she was most polite and professional. I had never heard of a "Puffy" Pita, so of course I swung with a "Crispy Puffy Lamb Pita with Everything". They were making Falafels for another order, and they looked swell, so I piped an order of 3 as a side dish. Upon walking in, there was a cart that had an assortment of Middle-Eastern Pickles (Which I have a remarkable affinity for). When you order them, they hand you a clamshell and you return to the cart to "Pick your own". A perfect diversion while your food is prepared to order. There was a pile of fab-looking Baklavas in clamshells in the ordering window, and they were SO fab-looking I had to throw one in on my order. Well. I got in the car and HAD to try one of the Falafels while they were hot and crispy (Wife was driving). Need to say, these might have been the best Falafels I've ever had. Chock full of flavor, with a mighty crunch, and this was even without a dunk in the provided Tahini sauce. I savaged the entire order of 3 before we got home. The "Crispy Puffy Lamb Pita" was a handful, and it too, was a flavor extravaganza. I don't know exactly what constitutes a "Crispy Fluffy Pita", but this one was really delish. On another, later visit I had just a "Puffy Lamb Pita" which was notch below the Crispy morsel, but still yum. The Garlic and Pomegranate sauces on the side were tasty, but the CripsyPuffy really did not need any help in the flavor department. Wife had procured me a Hot Tender from "Fry The Coop" a few doors down from Hello Shawarma here, and I was dipping it in the Hello Shawarma sauces to the Chicken Tender's advantage. The Baklava was, as it turned out, not simply good, it was OUTSTANDING! Full disclosure, with the absence of Arak on my booze shelf, I substituted a nice glass of Ouzo on the rocks to quaff with my meal, and it was a perfect call So I'm throwing 5 for this fab chain, a fine mid-eastern meal indeed! They're a great choice for lunch, although I've swung by here a couple times for dinner on my way home from work. My wife loves the combo ($10) that comes with chips, fountain drink, and choice of 'favorite' sandwich like the #12 Beach Club on sliced wheat. It's $1 less if you opt for an 'original' combo, but this restricts you to choosing from the #1-6 (e.g. Pepe, Big John, Vito, tuna, BLT). The dudes here have been so fast with the sandwich prep, I've barely finished paying at the register and they're handing me a completed order. Dang! I definitely appreciate the expediency, even if that means employees being a little curt. Friendliness only really matters to me when I'm being served at a sit-down restaurant. I'm that guy who asks for every topping/free condiment that's available, including extra mayo. It makes the sandwich a little sloppy, sure, but what can I say? If I'm paying for it, might as well get the most value for my money. Slap a "slippery when wet" sticker on that bad boy and send me on my merry way. * TL;DR * When it comes to cold subs, I have to give the edge to Jersey Mike's (also conveniently nearby) but with a bit of convincing from my partner I'd have no problem ordering from Jimmy John's again. 'Freaky Fast' is a very apt slogan, so if you're in a time crunch and need a quick bite, look no further. Download their mobile app and get a free sandwich just for signing up!
