Johnny's food is consistently good! I have tried numerous things on their menu and everything has been fresh and delicious. Their Italian beef is outstanding. Love the crinkle cut fries too! Their cheeseburger has good flavor and reminds me of a homemade backyard grilled burger. I personally prefer supporting small businesses so this place is a perfect spot to do that. The prices are reasonable and they have some great meal specials too. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The crispy chicken Caesar wrap hit the spot! I got it to go and ate it at home but the chicken was still crispy and was what I was craving! I also ordered a small side of Greek fries but it was underwhelming. The feta wasn't very good and the fries were watery at the bottom of the container - maybe because I got takeout and the condensation made them moist. Would definitely recommend the normal fries or a different fried side next time. Still very happy with the chicken wrap though and will definitely be back to try the gyro and other goodies! Update: I came back again for dinner the next day LOL it was so good and all I could think about was that chicken wrap... so for dinner tonight I got another chicken wrap with fried pickles. Got takeout and they were perfectly warm and crispy by the time I got home. My husband got a Philly cheesesteak which was also perfectly warm once we got back to eat! It actually saddens me that I have to post this review. I have been going to Johnny's for a very long time. Posted some excellent reviews. Top notch food, top notch service! And that Service is with a smile. My DoorDash order is always perfect. Tonight, not so perfect. In fact, many things were wrong. All of our hot dogs came with nothing on them. Plain! Unless you're under the age of five, most of us want something on our hotdog. We also ordered a Gyro sandwich. We requested Taziki sauce on the side. I think they put extra Taziki sauce on the entire sandwich. I realize it's the workers. But whoever manages those workers, need to take a second look. They can do a lot better. read more

I would like to say that Johnny's Red Hots is worth 5 stars but no longer can I say that. What I liked about this besides the main entry is the fresh hot fries, what I received today was not so hot and a bunch of small pieces of fries. Now it's not so much that they offered to replace them it's the point they served them in the first place. Then the tomatoes, I was served tomato ends on my hot dogs which were a cross of a light red and yellow. Again, lacking quality. My wife's Grilled Chicken on a wrap, a very tiny piece of Chicken, again not normal for this place but my point is it was served. I have been coming here for years, the food is good, hot, and consistent. Never a bad meal, the beef, the gyros, it's all good. My mom is a refugee in western Illinois now, and asks for two dogs with everything as she misses a good Chicago hot dog. Staff is always busy cleaning and stocking, and it's a small business, not a corporation, so I'm a supporter. It's crowded at lunchtime, but worth it. Well, this could easily have earned another star if they hadn't screwed up my order. Been trying Italian Beefs at new places, and like everywhere else I go, I ordered an Italian Beef, wet, with Sweet Peppers. The bun came soggy, as I like it, and did not fall apart, which is another plus. Lots of beef packed in the bun and huge sweet peppers (two more pluses). The beef was sliced to a perfect thinness, not over cooked or otherwise dried out, and the gravy was spot on. But they added hot giardiniera to my sandwich. Why? It ruined it. At least I was able to scrape most of it off and still enjoy the sandwich somewhat, but still. This is something that just doesn't happen. I'll have to call and try to figure out why the hell this happened, as I would like another shot at getting one made right from there. read more

Always get a gyros & they're good Other people said Chicago style dogs were good I called ahead to place my order because I always end up waiting for 10 mins for my food. He said be ready in 10-15 mins, so I showed up 18 mins later. I paid & he turned to the kitchen & told them I was here, so they started making my order. I waited 10 mins to get my order. What's the point of calling ahead? I have limited time on my lunch break. The owners here are definitely the most friendliest people ever. The hot dog, burgers, shakes are beyond amazing. Prior posting this review, I've been here at least 5 or 6 times. Satisfied ever time, they treat their customers like family and that's a major plus in my book. There's no drive thru which may discourage some people from coming by, prices are pretty competitive, free refills if you dine in. Everything from walking in to leaving was meh...... inside of the restaurant was nothing special but they did have a tv with the game on it, so that was nice.... my daughter had a plain hotdog, she ate the whole thing with no complaints so that is good. My very first time visiting today. I saw an old highschool classmate exit with a huge bag food and another gentleman with his drink. The establishment is kept so clean and tidy. The staff is ready and waiting for your order. The wait was only about 5 mins if that for hot delicious food and fries. If you decide to eat in you have a self serve refillable drink machine at your disposal. I even went so far as to call in to tell the manager today that I just really thought they were doing a fantastic job and to keep up the good work and please tell his workers too. So great to have them in the community. I actually talked to John the owner himself too. Very nice man! You should definitely spend your hard earned money here for a quick anytime meal.
