Chicken Tortilla Soup w/ McAlister's Club (choose 2) and yes....they forgot the tortilla chips on this day.
    Tiara B.

I came here with my Bible study group one time (had never been here before) and when I tried the McAlister's Club for the first time, I was hooked! And ever since, I come up here at least once a week (sometimes twice in a week!) for my usual "Choose 2" order which is the McAlister's Club and Chicken Tortilla soup or when I don't want soup I go for the Chipotle Chicken & Bacon spud. I've tried their Savannah Chopped Salad and it was delicious! I don't eat salad often, but when I do have a taste for one, that'll definitely be my go to again. The food here isn't the problem.....my food is always fresh and they keep the establishment clean. My problem is with their service. It's like every time I come here, it's hit or miss. And most times it's just the little things. I always order through the mobile app and then drive around to the pick up window. Most times I don't wait too long, but more times than not, there is a small wait.....and then when someone does come to the window, they always seem to be in a hurry. When I have a chicken tortilla soup in my order, it's a 50/50 chance that they forget to give me the tortilla chips that go with it. Fun fact: the very first time I ordered that soup, I didn't get any tortilla chips with it......I didn't know it was supposed to come with it until I ordered it again and this time they gave it to me. Also, I always get their half sweet tea and half sweet lemonade WITH a lemon wedge......there's about a 75% chance that I don't get that lemon wedge every time I order it AND last but not least, there's a 50/50 chance I don't get the pickle that's supposed to come with my sandwich. I guess I should make it a habit to check my food before I leave but how hard is it to just make sure you pack it right the first time? I remember a while ago, they came out with a new sandwich called the Chicken Ranch BLT....my husband and I were excited to try it so I ordered my husband the sandwich and I got mine as a spud w/ a club sandwich and drove up there to pick it up. This was on a Saturday morning around 11:30a or so......when I got up there to the pick up window, the lady tells me that they're out of chicken and that if I didn't want to substitute the chicken for turkey, I'd have to get something else (I was still able to get my club sandwich but I couldn't get my spud and my husband couldn't get the sandwich) Say what now??? How are you out of chicken and you've only been open an hour?? So I tell her that I didn't want turkey and that I'd just get something else, but in my head I'm thinking I prepaid a certain price for those items so whatever I get should be comparable to what I was charged. Then she says that there's enough chicken for the chicken BLT, but not the spud. So I just got the chicken tortilla soup and my husband got his sandwich....which was fine. As long as one of us got to try it. The lady did give me a free bag of chips for the trouble....I appreciate the effort...Lol. Obviously, these little short comings here and there haven't kept me from buying their food, but for the reasons I just explained, I had to take away one star.

Club Sandwich was delicious Turkey melt was also good Side of Mac & cheese was 1/3 full & was all cheese sauce with a few noodles. It wasn't any good anyway $30 for 2 sandwiches with no drinks is a bit much for carry out lunch

Is this Chipotle ranch? Hell no.

Horrible service. Horrible employees. I have gone there so many times and they get my order wrong. I'm so tired of this. I Pay good money to get what I want. And it seems like 50 percent of the time they get it wrong. It's Horrible. They only say "there is nothing I can do for you ma'am." Nah. You hire employees who can't read the difference between Chipotle ranch and ranch.... yes that is a very disturbing difference. You need to fire these employees right now. Or find a better management team. I am about done. I go here three times a week. And I'm seriously about done with naperville. What the hell is happening there? If I could give a negative 5 I would. I've given this place multiple opportunities. Every single thing needs improvement. The girl who was working tonight needs to be fired. Extremely rude. When she got my order wrong... nah. Not okay.

So I'm not sure how busy it can get in there or what it's like yet. There were a few different sandwiches that I was interested in trying but I ordered the regular Pacino. Immediately when I got my order, I could small the deliciousness and truffle right as I was opening it up! I also knew that I wouldn't be able to finish the sandwich in one sitting, but it didn't matter. Haha I took the first bite and all the flavors just hit! I loved everything about it. The mozzarella, truffle pecorino cream, and arugula all went so well together and it was creamy; and then to add the prosciutto for the saltiness. SO GOOD! The bread was more on the crunchy side....still kinda soft but more crunchy. My personal preference is for it to be a little more soft...so it doesn't cut the top of my mouth lol. Will definitely be getting sandwiches from here again! Hopefully, I'll get a chance to go to the actual storefront. But now I know I have a go to spot if I really want a good sandwich!

Gets crowded. The menu features lots of salads and sandwiches like any deli should have really. Basically it has many of the classics. It's one of those places you order at the counter and they bring it out. There's also many of the customers who get takeout. A bad thing is it can take a long time to get anything. Lots of times they're really slow. It's about $10 for a Beyond Burger. This is one of the main vegetarian options. A pretty typical one with the basic toppings but nothing special to be honest. Of course there's lots of paninis filled with meat. There's also the Reuben made with the classic corned beef, or it can be made with pastrami. Also has it available as vegetarian made with mushrooms. The rest of the menu has the typical stuff like chicken salad and egg salad. For sure it's a great place at lunch except for being crowded. It's located on 75th Street at Millbrook. The place is always crowded so most seem to get takeout.

The chicken salad was good, but for a place that is named for their chicken salad, it just wasn't anything special. I had the cranberry with almonds on wheat. I asked for the bread toasted, and it was browned, but bot crunchy like toast. Not sure what that's about. For sides, I had the Mac and cheese, which was kind of meh, and the grape salad, which was the highlight of the visit. Crunchy grapes with sweet tangy dressing. Each meal also comes with a frosted sugar cookie, which was delicious. I would go back if someone Invited me, but this isn't something I would crave.

My husband also chose "classic Carol" for his sandwich and a side of pasta salad. We wanted to try their classic before trying any other chicken salad flavors. It was a solid 7, which is why I place it at 3.5 stars. I may be being picky here but it just wasn't to the level of "melt-in-your-mouth" pastrami standards for me. Not to say it wasn't good, because it was perfectly fine. In fact, it's better than most of the pastrami sandwiches I tried in Chicagoland. Maybe it's the fact that I had to bring it back to the office to eat it, and half hour had gone by and pastrami weren't as warm and the Jewish rye had become soggy by the time I took the first bite. I mean, it goes without saying that the sandwich would have been 3 times better had I sat down immediately and had it. Again, all things considered, it was a perfectly good sandwich. One interesting thing was that I had never been to an establishment that included a half sour pickle instead of a normal one and gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. Pickles can be a hit or a miss for me. I like my pickles to be crunch, but some places offer overripened ones that become borderline mushy. Schmaltz's half sour pickle was not overly salty or sour, making it very attractive for me. The more I'm thinking about it, I'm convinced that I'll have to go back and try their #14 Sloppy Paul, which is the corned beef with sauerkraut, which is another favorite of mine. And this time, I'll be sure to dine in and give another review of it to see how much I like them better.
