Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience either. The sauce tasted very basic to me, almost like a creamy/ranch-style sauce mixed with hot sauce, and the chicken itself did not taste freshly prepared. What made that even more confusing was that I had waited for the order. Yet when I received it, the chicken was not even hot. Normally, freshly prepared chicken smells so good you can smell it throughout the car. That wasn't the case here. I'm not writing this to tell people not to visit Nando's. This restaurant is in a great Naperville location, and I'm sure there are other menu items that people genuinely enjoy. My review is specifically about the chicken I received and the value for the price. Management, if these very small pieces are the portion being served, the price needs to reflect that--or include fries or another side. I would rather see a small portion priced around $2.99-$3.00 and have the option to order more than pay a premium price and open the container feeling like somebody has played a joke on me. And considering Nando's celebrates its South African roots and Portuguese-inspired PERi-PERi tradition, I expected the chicken itself--not just the sauce--to be memorable. The staff are really nice and when I asked them if they had a gyro salad that I could order because I didn't see it on the menu they said they could make it. It came piled with nicely cooked gyro slices and the Greek salad underneath was loaded with fresh slices of cucumbers, onions, tomatoes and a bunch of feta and Kalamata olives. The salad came with tzatziki and packages of Greek dressing but I asked for a pita on the side and made myself a gyro with some of the salad. Even with a packed sandwich there was still plenty of meat left to enjoy with the salad. For $14 it was a good value too. Looking forward to being back the next time I'm in the mood for a gyro or any of the other tasty looking things on their menu.

We proceeded to watch three people very confused about how to make a coffee for at least 10-15 min. They are reading handbooks and walking around confused. I then watch them trying to figure out how to make my cold brew in a giant pitcher with tap water from a sink in the back. I watch them measuring out cloudy tap water and reading instructions on how to make it. Meanwhile they are also confused on how to make my husbands caramel macchiato. At one point one of them is smelling the coffee cup. This was all a little concerning but ok whatever. Then we get our food. It was not great but again, whatever. My cold brew was warm and murky and had just a few ice cubes floating in it. My husband was afraid to even try his coffee as when he received it I found this thick black hair in the other half of my panini. My husband mentions this to the woman who brought his coffee and she was nice and took it away and asked if we wanted something else. We were very grossed out and asked can they just refund the pancakes because they still weren't ready and we were just ready to leave. She was nice and said ok but then nobody had any idea how to give a refund. She had to call someone to refund us. We then left and I'm reading the receipt and she didn't refund us she had refunded someone else who had the same table number. I had to call back and tell her she didn't refund the right person or entree. She asked if we could come back but I really didn't want to waste any more time in there. She was very nice and apologetic and called me back and had refunded our entire order even though we just asked for the pancakes to be refunded as they hadn't come out. We will not come back though. This was pretty gross. It takes a lot for me to say something to the staff and not just suffer in silence. This was pretty bad. They really need to train their staff.
