Dave's hot chicken has been the talk of the town for quite some time and I knew that I had to go check it out! We went in on a Friday night and the place was packed! Their menu is quite simple - you can get sliders, tenders, fries, Mac n cheese, shakes, and a few other items! We got the Dave's #2 which comes with 2 sliders and some fries with an extra tender on the side. Their chicken comes in different spice levels - we got the medium but I would totally get the hot next time! The meat is cooked to perfection - crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The chicken is coated perfectly with seasoning and is beyond filling. The sliders also have pickles, sauce, and coleslaw inside making it the perfect bite every time! I think this might be one of the chicken sandwiches that I've EVER had! The Dave's sauce on the side is the perfect dip for both the chicken and the fries. I will definitely be going back and trying their hot and extra hot spice levels as well as their Mac n cheese!

Not a Naperville local so i wanted to try Dave's. Ordered food for pickup and when i got home 30 mins later I noticed they completely messed up my order. I called and the manager said no problem we will write it down and take care of you next time you are in the area. I called when i was in the area again and they acted completely oblivious and said we can't do anything. Was on hold and then spoke with manager for over 30 minutes and said I'm not going to help you or do anything. Manager name was Jordan..avoid at all cost. He was a rude horrible pushy person.

Been hearing about this place for a while and finally came around trying it.. Well, color me impressed! I am not big on spice, so got mine light mild. Very tasty and flavorful. The chicken is perfectly crispy, and not dry. Quite a bit of chicken in each slider too! I could only eat one, so the other one will be lunch tomorrow. The sauce was delicious, the fries excellent and the pickle slices added a nice crunch and flavor ! Very solid meal. This is easily a 9/10 for me!

HOW HOT ARE YOU? "Reaper" hot? Or "No Spice?!" Well at Dave's, you are able to choose from SEVEN different levels of heat for your delicious chicken! Dave's is taking over Illinois (and the world - literally) one flavorful bite at a time! I got invited to check out their menu and let me just give props to the chicken! Their chicken is brined in pickle juice, so you can imagine the flavor that the chicken has. Their shakes are good! Get a half and half with a couple of different flavors or crap an Oreo or M&M shake; they're FULL of goodies. Fries either come seasoned or with cheese and are served hot and fresh. Although I wasn't a fan of the Mac n cheese, the slaw - which is a kale slaw, was REALLY good! You can get it as a side, but it also comes on the chicken sandwiches; it's PERFECT on there! They've also just come out with HOT BOXES that feed crowds of hungry folks! Pick from Hot Box options like 40 tender bites or 10 sliders. And guess what? THEYRE HALAL!!! Go check out one of their locations here in Illinois (Melrose Park, Roscoe Village, Naperville) or across the US and tell 'em that Planes and Plates sent you! Enjoy!

This is a pretty mediocre fried chicken place based on the one time I came here. Quality- the chicken is quite dry and the fries are soggy from oil. Not a great texture to have for fries. The burger was ok but the cheese sauce they provide on it is a bit too strong. It overpowers most flavors on the dish. Quantity- they give quite a bit for 20 bucks. It's enough for 2 people so that make up for lower quality this way. Atmosphere- grabbed it to go Service- drive through was somewhat slow

There's only 4 choices on the menu (tenders, chicken sliders, or some combo of the two), but at least Dave's is consistent

LOVE ME TENDER(S) What Dave's Hot Chicken lacks in variety, they make up for in consistency. For the last couple years, I've been seeking the ultimate Nashville hot chicken experience, whether it's a sandwich or breaded tender. Some have come close (Fry the Coop) and others have been middling at best. Dave's makes a more-than-decent effort. Dave's Hot Chicken has a few locations in the Chicago area: on North Ave in Melrose Park, on Western Ave in the city, and this one in Naperville at the northwest corner of Route 59 & 95th St, next to Smashburger and between Biaggi's and a Currito. These hombres have 7 levels of spice, ranging from 'none' to 'reaper'. John Q Public might enjoy the 'mild' or 'medium', but people who enjoy spicy things would be best off with the 'hot' or 'extra hot'. 'Reaper' sounds like a stretch, even for a guy like me who admittedly loves pushing the heat envelope. Their menu has only four choices: 2 tenders, 2 sliders, 1 tender & 1 slider, or 1 slider. Simple, no? Aside from fries, the only options for sides are mac & cheese and kale slaw. Dave's can maintain tight control over quality by keeping their menu limited, which makes sense. I got the #1 combo (2 tenders + fries, $12), and my wife had the #3 combo (1 chicken slider + 1 tender + fries, $13). Each order comes with sliced bread, pickles, and a small cup of Dave's sauce -- a tasty concoction of mayo, mustard, garlic powder, and paprika. I tipped the guys here an extra buck and they threw in a couple bonus sauces, which I appreciated. My gripes with Dave's are the elevated cost (by comparison, Burnin' Mouth in Yorktown Mall has incredible hot chicken at a MUCH better value), and the fact that my 'hot' was anything but. In fact, my first thought was "did they give me the wrong heat level?" The tenders were flavorful and juicy but I was disappointed with the lack of spiciness. I guess next time I gotta up the ante. * TL;DR * Dave's is good stuff, but after two visits they've fallen short of my expectations, lofty though they might be. 2 tenders for $12 is an awful lot (fries are $3.50, that comes out to $4.25/tender!) especially considering that drinks aren't included with a combo. Fries are great and so is their signature sauce, but last visit I was totally underwhelmed with the heat level as advertised. I've had better, both in Nashville and outside of it. Still dig 'em, and I'll probably come back at some point.

Dave...the man you are. Dave's hot chicken is by far the best chicken spot I've had so far in my life. This is legit because it's also going on yelp and I have to stay objective. Let's go over the big ones. First off, food. Come on. Seriously? The chicken is crispy and spicy, the perfect combo. The reaper is for daredevils, but the extra hot is a chill time for everyday spice lovers. The chicken is cooked to crispiness-heaven. The fries? Crinkle-cut greatness. Might I add Mr. Dave's sauce? It's hard for me to understand why other customers seem to boast other companies to 7th heaven when I know Dave's produces a better product. Last all of the ultimate combo. Shoutout to Noah K. honey with Dave's hot chicken sandwich is perfect for the Louvre. Finally service. Tim, the second coming of Dave himself. With his incredible dedication to the company, he allowed my friend (whose first time at Dave's was today) was perfect. Shoutout to Tim's style milkshake (oh wow Tim!) We made it onto yelp!!!

I ordered online for carry out and the platform was easy to navigate. Once my husband and I arrived at the resto we were greeted by a very kind staff member. Our food wasn't ready but within 5 mins of us being there it was good to go. We tried the wonton soup and chicken dumplings app. Both were on the bland side. Normally I'm used to wonton soup also having noodles and theirs does not. Flavors were OK, felt like both dishes were missing spices. Everything was cooked perfectly though. Maybe we ordered the wrong items from here and need to try others instead.

In my experience, this signifies either the place was going to be a shithole to pass up, or it was a serious place to eat, then get out and go somewhere with an atmosphere. Happy to say J's (IMHO) is a serious place to eat. No-nonsense, direct and to the point. When I walked in, all those common chairs I mentioned were stacked upside down on the tables in the way that places do when they are closed. The taciturn fellow who worked there assured me they were indeed open, and explained they had just finish washing the floor. Please dont read any of this as negative-the best Chinese places I've ever been have looked like this-and if you've paid attention to the Travel/Food shows on the TeeVee, the joints in China itself are pretty much the same. On to the food, know this place is a Serious REAL-DEAL Chinese resto. I didn't notice if there were "Occidental" Chinese-type dishes on the carte, (primarily 'cos I wasn't looking for them). What I saw looked yum, and had a hard time making choices, even though I had read the menu multiple times and thought I know what I was going to order in advance. Confessionately, this is a chief feature for my tortured dining self-It's a wonder I even get fed in restaurants (especially the great ethnic ones), due to option anxiety. I zeroed in on "Street Noodles" for starters-wouldn't you? Then went to "Cold Beef Shank" for entreé. The Noodles were fab as was the Shank. The noodles were in a broth. with some hunks of bok choy and ground meat on top. Hearty, still light. The shank had a thin sauce complimenting but not obscuring the beefiness. One bugaboo: the Shank needed a bit of seasoning, and I wasn't going to use soy sauce, as I believed that would have marred the subtle flavors of the Beef. I asked for a salt shaker. It arrived, and I was a little taken back, 'cos it appeared it hadn't been washed in a while, and the salt inside was caked. It occurred to me this condition was present due to the non-use of said shaker. I don't think I've ever asked for a salt shaker in a Chinese resto. I pulled a toothpick out of my "Murse" and broke up the caked NaCl. Applying same to the pieces of Shank, the flavor bloomed and I was a happy boy. Bring some salt packets along when you visit "J's", maybe. The fellow who was waiter and cashier was a "western" fellow, whom I engaged and turned out to be quite an experienced foodie. some pleasant conversation indeed. My wife spotted this place across the street - Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay. How could we go wrong? Well, we couldn't. The interior was smartly outfitted - the lighting, the ceilings, the walls, were all classy and nicely done. Service was outstanding - water and soft drink glasses were refilled regularly, and the table checked for food quality on multiple occasions. I was intrigued by their Prime Rib Sandwich, which is served with onion crisps. I went for the $4 upgrade to Truffle Fries. The sandwich was LARGE, very tasty, and just plain wonderful to eat. The Truffle Fries added a bit of spice to the meal. My wife had their Fish & Chips. When I saw the sandwich on the side just coming out of the kitchen, I was wondering how she'd eat it, since the piece of fish was BIG. Like How Do I eat this BIG. She used her knife and fork and got the job done. Great food, great service, nice location right on Jefferson Avenue. What a great place! We'll have to come back for Dinner!

Ambience was fine, not overly impressive, we could hear the expediter and the kitchen. Coffee was good, just hard to get enough refills. Potato-leek soup with chili oil drops resembled thin baby food, and was so tasteless, we had to request salt and pepper. They didn't even have salt and pepper shakers; it came in small tumblers. The Beef Wellington from the prix fixe menu was smaller than expected for the price. The beef was fine but was more like a filet than a beef tenderloin. The mushroom coating was far too earthy and tasted a little bit like dirt. The pastry was kind of raw on the inside. The sides that came with the Beef Wellington were a schmeer of mashed potatoes - which were okay - and a tiny pile of steamed carrots and leeks. The chocolate tart was good, but not incredible. Did not live up to the hype or the "Ramsey Reputation;" will probably not return. Overall experience - kind of "meh."

Last time I went to the taqueria I noticed that a new restaurant was in the works, all the way back behind the bakery. I spoke with the lady and confirmed it was going to be pan-Asian food and all halal! She told me the opening date was November 1st. Today I stopped in, and sure enough it was open. The lady (who I believe is Yola) told me they planned to rotate dishes and will include various Asian dishes, like Thai food. Today they had fried rice, crispy noodles, shrimp, fried chicken drumsticks/wings, chicken lollipop, and diced chicken & potatoes. They even had duck! It all looked good, but I decided to try fried rice with the diced chicken & potatoes, along with a few pieces of chicken lollipop (which is like fried chicken on a stick, or bone). I brought the food to my parent's house for a family dinner. I really enjoyed the food. The fried rice wasn't out of this world, but the chicken lollipop was really good and the chicken & potato dish was pretty good. I love Asian food, so I'm stoked about having a halal option. The food was sold by weight, and I feel we got a decent value. This isn't a place you can go to for a nice dinner out, but a good takeout option. Looking forward to trying other dishes here.
