I saw this place on IG and I really wanted to try it. It had bad ratings but I wanted to try for myself. Wish I hadn't. The food is super salty, low quality ingredients, and barely any meat in the sandwiches/burgers. Very disappointing. Great concept but definitely a miss. It's a no for me, dog.

'Volcano' burger ($10): 1/2lb beef patty stuffed with American cheese. It was unseasoned and undercooked. - A burger featuring a beef patty, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion slices in a bun, served in a takeout container.

DON'T HAVE A COW, MAN Unseasoned and undercooked patties spell disaster for this burger spot in Naperville. My wife and I stopped here to grab some food on our way to Solemn Oath brewery, where we'd reserved a private igloo to celebrate the birthday of yours truly. I have to preface this review by saying we sought out the *closest* burger place, not the *best* one, in an effort to make sure our dinner was still warm by the time we sat down. After placing an order at the counter, they asked us to wait in our car until the food was ready. The Burger Life's menu recycles a lot of the same toppings (gyros, fried egg, bacon, etc) and I wasn't terribly impressed with what I saw. For the most part, the burgers are very basic. My 'Volcano' ($10) was a thumbs-down. The idea was straightforward: a 1/2lb patty stuffed with American cheese, w/red onion, tomato, lettuce, and zinger sauce. Tragically, the burger itself was flavorless, and the middle was rare-to-dark red. It also had a mushy texture, leading me to believe it was frozen and not cooked properly. On the other hand, Nichole S enjoyed the 'Lonestar' ($9.50), a cheeseburger topped with bacon, bbq sauce, and an onion ring. She did, however, comment that it too was "seriously lacking in flavor", so this is a systemic issue with how TBL seasons their patties (if they're seasoned at all). Meal combo included decent curly fries. Onion rings ($5) had nice crispy breading. They have something on their menu called the 'Harambe', a gargantuan entrée consisting of 3 cheeseburgers, a chicken patty, philly steak, gyros and bacon doused in cheese sauce ($22). It's impossible to eat normally so they give you a knife & fork (and presumably, an AED). I'm not sure if this is a clever nod to our departed comrade, or straight up culinary sedition. * TL;DR * The Burger Life has a lot of work to do if they want to be taken seriously in the burger community. Or should I say.....com-MOO-nity? Some people might find their offerings passable, but knowing how delicious a burger can be -- Kuma's Corner, Empire -- this place was a total let down. The burger ideas were boring and poorly executed; above-average curly fries & onion rings can't make up for a woefully nondescript meat patty. Instantly forgettable.

Tried their baba burger second time and it was just as good as the lone star burger I had last time. Their curly fries definitely didn't disappoint either. Also this time their cooler section was restocked- it had cherry Pepsi, vanilla Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist, and bunch of other flavors.

    Chicken Tenders

My son ordered chicken tenders smothered in BBQ sauce and they are soo good! We made it a meal with onion rings, and WOW! their onion rings are big and delicious. I had to sneak a few . My keto meal of gyros without pita, smothered in pepper jack cheese, and topped with zinger sauce was AMAZING. Everything tasted fresh even though we picked up at 9 pm at night! They must have gotten new management because last summer their food quality was really lacking. Glad we decided to give them another chance. Whatever they're doing now, I hope they stay consistent and keep doing it!

Steak medallions in a Madeira wine sauce with mushrooms and asparagus were delicious and perfectly cooked. So what I should have received were pieces of steak and asparagus and tomatoes; I got pieces of steak. Server said I should have told her that I wanted the Grilled Steak Medailions from the Skinnylicious menu because what she brought me was Steak Diane from the regular menu. So apparently that was my fault for saying Grilled Steak Medallions (which is only on the Skinnylicious menu) and not specifically stating "not Steak Diane". Btw, Steak Diane was $3 more. One of the biggest improvements is the pricing. It's far more reasonable compared to the last two spots, which felt overpriced for what you got (in my opinion). The servers and bartenders are knowledgeable, which isn't always a given these days, and they're genuinely happy to answer questions or offer recommendations. That level of attentiveness really elevates the overall experience. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to.

The bacon jam is exceptional, so much so that I would consider naming my next child George just to get the recipe. Service has consistently been excellent, with staff who are friendly, attentive, and welcoming. My only critique is the fireplace. Altavida is a new addition to the downtown Naperville area as they have only been open for 3 weeks…read more It has taken over The Craftsman building which offers three floors. Altavida's concepts for the three levels are Publico, Rumba, and Altura. Publico (1st Flr)- A South American fusion of food and drinks that will be rotating. The cocktails will be more tequila and mezcal based and food will be subtly rotated based on trends happening in South America. The food menu currently offers tapas, empanadas, ceviche, guacamoles, larger format meat/seafood entrees, and more. They will have a front of our bar as well as a back bar that will specialize in more coffees/coffee cocktails. Rumba (2nd Flr)- The entertainment floor! There is a separate bar on this floor that will specialize in more Rum based cocktails. Additionally, they will have a wine bar area with wines in tap. Lastly, they will have an open area for live music as well as dancing. Their hope is to have a mix of jazz, club music, salsa dancing options available. Altura (3rd Flr)- This floor is still under construction but will have a rooftop patio. The hope is that this space will be an event space both for public and private events. Back to my experience! My partner and I stopped in for a cocktail and to see what Altavida was about. Our first bartender was very nice but was still getting used to the drink recipes and was leaning on their cheat sheets. While we waited, another bartender kindly told us all about the restaurant and its focus on hospitality. Unfortunately, each bartender had a slightly different explanation of the restaurant's goal concepts which was confusing. We ended up ordering the El Toro and Vaquero (both mezcal drinks). Both were VERY spirit forward to the point that it may have needed better balance. Both drinks had a nice presentation with garnishes, color, and a skull feature at the bottom of the glass. Lastly, we saw many people walk up and look confused as there was no formal host stand. They didn't know if they should seat themselves or wait for someone. Overall, there still seems to be some kinks needing to be worked out as well as some conceptual editing. I feel they are trying to achieve too much and it ends up being confusing for staff and guests. I hope with time, Altavida is extremely successful in the Naperville area and I hope to circle back after some time passes.

I loved the modern decor and lively music being played. The place is truly colorful and has a very energetic vibe. The service was excellent. Everyone was extremely kind and happy to help. Edwin, the general manager was so friendly and accommodating by making sure that everything was to our liking. He is a gem. My husband and I ordered a few different tapas to share. We started with the empanadas and they were truly 10/10, highly recommend! We had the beef and chicken with the chimichurri sauce. We also tried the papas bravas and those were delicious as well. They are spicy and have a nice kick. The portion is pretty big and shareable. Last, we had chicken en mole. Omg, so good! They knocked it out of the park with this one. The presentation is very pleasing and the flavor is 10/10! I'm a hot sauce girly and even carry it in my bag just in case. The sauce they had in the dish was so good that I didn't even think about adding hot sauce! The rice and chicken along with the sauce is chef's kiss. I also tried the Brussels sprouts but they were my least favorite of everything. They should go back to the drawing board on that one. The drinks we had were solid. My husband had an espresso martini and dragonfruit margarita, while I had a mango margarita. All were good. Needless to say, I had an amazing evening at Altavida! The dancing on the second floor was also very fun and entertaining. I will definitely be a regular here!
