Never had Firehouse Subs before. Probably because there's a plethora of great sub places all over Chicagoland. My first trip didn't disappoint. My boss had gotten a gigantic meatball sub one day and boy was it the talk of the office. Today my coworker and I decided we needed to try these saucy bad boys. First of all aesthetic on point. Was disappointed they didn't have a fireman's pole. BUT they probably don't have them specifically because of people like me that would've absolutely slayed some sick moves. Great customer service. The kids that work here are great and seem to pay attention to detail. The only thing is the wait was a little long. Like maybe they had someone call off during the lunch rush. They were definitely moving tho and I could tell they were doing the best they could. Most importantly though is the food. Great bread. Great ingredients. It's not a good meatball sub unless one meatball escapes while you're eating! Perfectly messy and just the right amount of cheese. I will absolutely go again. This was the third time we have visited this location since we moved into the area. We have had FHS many time at the Wheaton location, so we know what to expect. Each time we have ordered from this location, something was an issue--ridiculously long wait time, non-friendliness of staff, accuracy of items in the order. This is likely the last time we will go to this location. The Wheaton store had NONE of these issues. This time, we ordered 4 sandwiches that were all mildly customized and each one had something not accurate to how is was ordered (not toasted, missing ingredients, ingredients that didn't belong, etc.). The guy behind the counter was gruff and disinterested when I arrived a bit early. He wore his mask under his nose while he made the food. He appeared to not care about anything, especially a customer. He barely spoke or acknowledged me. Customers seemed to be an inconvenience to him. Very few quick service restaurant apps are stellar at the moment (I'm talking to you Cousins Subs), but the FHS app is clumsy and not intuitive. I had a rewards item to add, and regardless of how I entered it, it never seemed to register, until I just gave up. This store has all of the earmarks of a franchise owner that isn't paying attention or does not care. We quickly remembered why we stopped going to FHS here in Aurora. We probably won't give it a 4th try. Plenty of other really good sub shop options in the area, and most of them are happy to see customers walk through the doors. read more

Slowest service I have ever seen. 34 minutes for two sandwiches. Still don't have it. Avoid this place like the plague, unless you have an hour to kill. Watching this crew make sandwiches is a lot like watching a Very dysfunctional circus. Have you seen the episode of the Three Stooges making food? These guys were looking at the orders like they were complex calculus equations or tide charts. Update 3/6/18: The coupons still remain up and active on SaveAround for this location. Here is the official word from SaveAround after getting in touch with their support: "All participating locations have a legal signed agreement with our company, and should honor every coupon presented to them according to this agreement." So, you guys are legally supposed to be accepting these coupons? Something's not right here. ___________________ Owner was very rude to me when I tried to use a coupon from SaveAround. The mobile app CLEARLY has their address listed as a location to use coupons, but the owner who happened to be there at the time rejected the coupon saying that they never partnered with SaveAround. The rude part was when she called me out as "infamous" for LEGITIMATELY using SaveAround coupons at that location. I rarely ever leave reviews, but after what I just saw happen, I felt it was necessary to leave one. I don't think I will ever come to this location again after the disrespect I saw given to a customer. Just watched a customer get yelled at by one of the employees because they asked to speak to a manager. The customer's T-Mobile coupon was rejected because their two year old son was standing in front of them in line. I never heard of store/restaurant/fast food place reject a coupon because their kid was in front of them in line. Once the customer asked to speak to a manager, one of the employee's started to berate the customer in front of his child. The customer even said "it's all good. It's done. I moved on" and the employee continued to still yell at the poor guy. Another employee had to step in and tell their co-worker to settle down. I have never seen a worker yell at a customer, in front of their own child, over wanting to speak to manger. Take your money elsewhere as this place doesn't deserve yours. read more

Reading through some reviews here to see what sandwich others enjoy most and seeing several reviews that they aren't honoring the promotion. Called and they confirm they aren't honoring the promo, even though we would have bought 3 other subs, plus drinks and sides. Will never visit this location, or any other. I've heard good things about Firehouse Subs and I've seen their stores here and there throughout the burbs, but I have yet to try a sammy for myself until recently! Mostly because I've been trying to be less of a sandwich gal and more of a salad gal, but eh, what can you do. Sometimes you gotta have a delicious masterpiece between bread! I had every intention of choosing something off of their 500 calories or less menu (especially because they have a lot of options!), but then my eyes wandered over to the classic menu... ...and I went with the turkey bacon ranch sandwich. My oh my was it delish! I tried to make up for my choice by pairing my sammy with "light chips" and water as opposed to something else. I mean, ya do what you can. And you do what you want. This location is privately known as Fred Debevics as they are rude to each other more often than customers. The young blonde woman is loud and rude. The parents seem to try their best to keep it professional but it is a useless battle as every single time we have been here it is her or even them yelling about something. Last week we walked past her sitting and she had another employee in a conversation while we waited at counter for her to be done with talking about cats to employee. I love a good sub and go crazy for a great sub. I watched as Firehouse Subs was under construction on Eola road with great interest and finally had the chance to stop in today. It is a brand new business so the place was spotless. I was a little put off by the shouted "WELCOME TO FIREHOUSE SUBS!" shrieked at me from someone behind the counter. I was impressed by the amount of available seating. Really, you easily bring in a bowling league for lunch. I had the New York Steamer combo (Pastrami). I found the sub to be tasty but not exceptionally so, it was on par with Quizno's. There was an acceptable amount of meat and cheese and the toppings were not overpowering. The 100+ Drink Option Coke dispenser is a definite plus. Nice touch in having the order delivered to your table as well. The menu took a page from Jimmy John's in offering 10 basic subs but kudos for offering a nice selection of under 500 calorie options. What really turned me off was the constant barrage of "We support our firefighters" on everything from their tag line "Founded by Firemen", to reminders of how you could donate to Fire Departments, to pointing out that the sale of empty pickle buckets goes directly to our local fire department. I get it. It's not that I do not appreciate first responders for the important work they do but the gigantic mural of a house burning down complete with crying child? In a restaurant? Sorry, it's overkill. I spent $9.00 for my meal. While the sub was priced right ($5.89 for a regular) I thought the $2.29 up-charge for medium drink and bag of chips to be on the high side. I highly suggest working with him, he even drove it all the way to St Charles for us. We will be using him again in the future. Disappointing experience. The "steamer" sandwich, as depicted on the menu board, sounded like a meatylicious experience. The actual sandwich was unremarkable at best but, limp and funky tasting are how I would really describe it. To top if off, I selected the "boutique" vinegar and salt chips to go with it. This is the first time I've ever had these chips where they were stale. Unbelievable. Forgot to mention...the pickle presented on the side could only be described as "sad". I love the food here and have returned several times knowing it takes forever to prepare a sandwich. However today was excessive. Over half an hour for one sandwich?!? The staff is all joking around instead of working. Understood every place is short staffed however it sounded like it was pretty well staffed today with people who don't work. I can't tell now long the guy before me was waiting but there is no sense of urgency. They don't seem to care low long you wait. Sandwich this time was also keyed in as a medium when I ordered a large. Staff doesn't even seem to pay attention. They were not busy at all but the staff seems to have a problem with working. I have ordered from many firehouse sub places. I was very excited to live close to one again. After moving all day i treated my helpers to subs. I called the store to see about delivery and was g told to use uber eats or grub hub. I went to i er eats ordered and was charged $44 for 2 subs and a soup. The uber driver got there and was told that they Canceled the order. After hearing from the driver i called the store. I explained who i was and what the uber driver was told. After they looked up the order. The store tells me. " my bad, we start making it". No compensation or Apology. Just my bad. WTF. The Service at this store is not the firehouse style i have had before. They need to pay more attention to the customers needs and orders. Also don't order the chicken dumpling soup. It isn't good. It was all broth a few crumbles of chicken and no veggies or dumplings. Subs were made very sloppy like they were just tossed together and thrown in the container. I said no pickles and i got pickles. Ask for Lettuce and tomato... that never made it on the sandwich. Not sure what i paid $44 for when it wasn't even made the way i wanted it. This Firehouse needs to relook at its employees and retrain them for better customer service. We will mot be ordering from this store again. We will drive to plainfield. read more

Love this place for sandwiches! They have a pulled pork sandwich that comes out every now and then for a limited time and it is one of my favorites there. It's topped with their coleslaw and I'm not a huge fan of coleslaw but theirs is good. They use the sweet Hawaiian bread which is so soft and compliments the pork perfectly. My other favorite is the bbq smoked brisket sandwich. The meat is so tender and tasty! I didn't think sandwiches can be so different among sandwich places, but yup, there is a big difference. This is the only Firehouse location I have been to as it is very close to my home. I can not think of a better sandwich place anywhere. The management knows what people want and it reflects in the quality and quantity of food you get for your money. There is a drink station with lots of options soda/lemonade/flavored water etc. Chili and soups are great tasting sides and sweet delicious cookies and brownies for dessert. If they run out of something they will do everything they can to get you the next best thing. That's how good this location is. People are always here and know the quality. One can watch sports while eating or conveniently pick up as I do. Also the rewards program is totally worth how free it is. I just got a large sub for free with purchase of one for my wife. I dont know how other locations operate but the Eola Road location in Aurora sets the standard for a superb lunch or dinner. read more

I love sandwiches and this is included in the good spots I know with delicious sandwiches in this area. It is basically a normal sandwich shop with a nice, cozy atmosphere and vibe. The place is always a good option whenever I am in this area and I do not have a particular place in mind to eat. The place is always clean, and they also have the nicest, most accommodating, and helpful staff. I got a lot of requests, especially if I wanted to build my own sandwich and the staff would do it accurately. One of my favorites is their spicy Cajun chicken sandwich, and that is exactly what I ordered the last time I went here. Like usual, the service is quick, and I did not take long inside the shop since I ordered for takeout. The sandwich was freshly made to order and was still hot even after a long time. I like the flavor of the Cajun chicken and the kick of spiciness it has, and it definitely goes well together, especially, of course, with the delicious sauce and fresh veggies in it. It was so good.
